Best Tacos in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Las Frida’s Mexican Kitchen in Doylestown offers a bevy of taco platters where you can choose your favorite soft or hard-shell options, including street tacos, shrimp tacos, the birria platter, and a vegetarian item. Start your meal off right with the chips, guacamole, and salsa starter or the zesty elote offering." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

This small restaurant on the fringe of the business district is not to be missed. It's the only authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. Don't expect heaps of cloying cheddar and jack cheese. Expect only good ingredients carefully prepared. The staff is attentive and grateful for your business. The surroundings are appropriate to the food and invite fun, not whispered tones. Parking out back is free and there's a convenient rear entrance. So put on your jeans, spend a modest sum and have fun with great food.

Google
Fantastic food and service! I’m one of those unlucky people who can’t stand the taste of cilantro and they went out of their way to make sure the salsa I had didn’t have cilantro in it. Other than the table being a little sticky, it was a fantastic experience and I will definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Came here on a Sunday after church service. Convinced that this is what the Bible means when it says Jesus brought heaven down. I am no longer confident that I know how to cook. This is hands down THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD I’VE EVER HAD, with no close second. Ordered the fish and shrimp tacos with a lengua quesadilla. The lengua was perfectly cooked with delicious melty cheese; the fish tacos were crispy, the sauces infused perfectly with the fish batter. Presentation of the food was beautiful. Ordered chips and guacamole on the side; the consistency of the guacamole was perfect, easy to get onto the chip, and plenty flavorful. Would die to come here again.

Google
The food here was excellent, the restaurant was fun/not too loud/creatively decorated, and service was friendly and rather fast. We were here in a Sunday night so the restaurant wasn't super packed, but I bet it is on other days, and at brunch. Menu was expansive, so I'd love to come back and try more of it. Highly recommend!

They give a free appetizer of some chips and sauce, free water refills, not too much fat, a very big variety of dishes.

Google
Las Fridas is authentic Mexican food. After living in Arizona and moving to the East Coast years ago, I have longed to find a solid Mexican restaurant that comes close to the cuisine (Sonoran) I grew accustomed to. Las Fridas is one of the best I have found. It's not only the fresh ingredients they use, it's the preparation of the food that makes it taste better than the rest. It's the little things, from the guacamole to the crema Mexicana (over sour cream) that I've taken notice of. The food is just better. Two take-out orders in and I will be back for more. I needed a quick bite before going to a client meeting. Was randomly looking at their menu on yelp. Glad to see that they have birria tacos. Got there around pass 3 pm so there was plenty of parking at the back of the restaurant. Seated quickly for myself and ordered a soda the moment I sat down. Quick service and the staff that sat me was very nice too I wish they also serve the birria ramen as well. Ordered the birria tacos and it came out fairly quickly You get a basket of warm tortilla with salsa. It was scrumptious and enjoyed it right away. Food came out very quickly Would come back here again for sure and try out their other offering next time around

Google
Unfortunately, this place has been a major letdown. We’ve given it multiple tries, hoping for consistency, but it’s just not there. The meat is often way too salty...so much so that it’s hard to enjoy anything else on the plate. One visit, the tacos were decent; the next, completely dry and over salted. It feels like a gamble every time you order.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Had the vegetarian burrito, enchiladas and fiesta salad. All fantastic. The service was attentive and the place has a nice dining room. Being from California this rates on par. Highly recommend.

Yelp
In the mood for some fantastic Mexican food, and find yourself in Doylestown, find Las Frida's Mexican Kitchen, and sit down. The minute you walk in the door, you are greeted by smiling faces. We started with chips, guacamole and salsa, absolutely delicious, just don't eat too much. My wife cannot say "no" to street tacos; fish and chorizo, and chorizo wins the day. Simply delicious and spicy. For me, Chori Pollo burrito bowl. Absolutely outstanding, fresh and delicious. The traditional paintings and artwork just add to the authenticity. Would be awesome to have a Mariachi band once and awhile. This place is a must do in Doylestown.

Yelp
Las Fridas Breakfast Review After dropping off my mail-in ballot at the Bucks County Administration Building (home of the Board of Elections), in Doylestown, I made my way to Las Fridas Mexican Kitchen on South Main Street for a desayuno Mexicano. I had to wait a while in their rear parking lot until they opened at 10:10 a.m., and then watch them set up the dining room. Feeling patriotic and satisfied, the short delay did not dampen my positive disposition. I sat at a booth in the front of the restaurant awaiting hot coffee and a chat with the server about whether french toast was available as indicated in past reviews and photos - no longer on the menu - or would I have to find a current menu item. No problem going with the Santa Fe Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo and home fries. It was massive and massively delicious. Loaded with at least three scrambled eggs, habaneros, onion, chorizo and queso, it was hot, fresh and a pleasure of texture and multi flavors wrapped in a tortilla grande. The potato option vs rice & beans was a nice change of pace; pan fried with pieces of onion and red pepper mixed in. The house brew cafe had a hint of cinnamon, making it extra exhilarating. My mug was refilled three X. This is the second Las Fridas I have enjoyed (Maple Glen being the first), as well as the first Mexican breakfast I have enjoyed in several years. Given how strong this performance was, I plan to return much more frequently. Cindy, my server was friendly, efficient and attractive. She took good care of me as a sole diner.

Yelp
I went to this place a few weeks ago. I happened to be in the area and luckily found this place. Amazing and authentic Mexican food!! I mean absolutely delicious. The pico de gallo was unreal. Probably the best I've ever had, and I've had A LOT of pico, lol. I ordered tacos, I can't seem to remember what kind they were, but they were soooo good. My boyfriend ordered a carne asada (steak) quesadilla. He was very happy with it, almost finished the whole thing. Seasoning was on point. The restaurant was nice, plenty of seating and fast service. The waiters/waitresses are so kind and helpful being that the menu has so many great choices. Doylestown is a little ways from me, but I will be back!

Yelp
This place always has consistent amazing food! Had the wings, birria , fajita and a free margarita that was better than any margarita I paid for! Fast service and their door dash food is also on point! Go here now!

Yelp
Best service and food in Doylestown! Affordable, tasty, and quick! We were seated and served drinks within 2 minutes of arriving and while we ate amazing chips and salsa, our food arrived in less than 10 minutes. Several friendly staff members made sure we were satisfied and brought the checks when we finished. In another note, can I just say how CLEAN the entire seating area, kitchen, restrooms, and walkways to the parking lot were?! The restaurant was not very loud and the lighting was nice mid-day. I seriously can't wait to come back and try the tres leche cake!

Yelp
Always an excellent meal, always friendly service, always super clean, always a good time, parking out in the back, BYOB, takes credit cards, great for party's and doesn't break the bank

Yelp
I was craving Mexican and looking to pick up something on my way home the other day. I remembered that this restaurant opened in the old California Tortilla and decided to give it a try. I ordered online which was nice and convenient but they do charge a service fee. I ordered for my family and between us we got 2 burritos, a taco salad, and a chimichanga. Of everything the chimichanga looked the best. I liked that it was topped with guac, pico, and sour cream. The burritos said that were served that way but it was not on top it was inside. The food came out super fast, but it also got relatively cold really fast. The portion sizes were ehh, I would have liked to seen bigger. I also did not like that for most items on the menu you had to choose between rice and beans when I'd like to just have both on the side. I also wish they'd give you chips and salsa, maybe they might when you dine in, but I think it should also be extended to take out. My mom was extremely disappointed in her taco salad, she said the whole thing was wet and the dressing just tasted like oil. We also opted to add on a protein - the carnitas- and it was such a sad excuse of a protein. A few dry scraggly pieces on top. I will also add that was what my carnitas burrito container. Very dry pork like it was overcooked and/or sitting out. Overall the rest of my family enjoyed theirs, but it definitely wasn't the best quality we've had. We did not go inside so I can't speak on ambiance or service beyond the staff who helped with my order seemed nice. If you're familiar with this building you know there's a back entrance, but when coming in that way you basically walk in to the service station , which feels very wrong. They might want to change the orientation of their restaurant or suggest people use the other entrance.

Yelp
Steak and Shrimp tacos highly recommended. Great guac, salsa, and rice as well. The chips are good but greasy

Yelp
Visiting Mercer Museum and looked on Yelp for a local Mexican place. Have to give this place five stars! The food was fantastic! Prices were great, people were friendly! We were so full after our meal, but still got the Tres leches dessert and it did not disappoint! It was fabulous! Portions were great, if we didn't live two hours away, I would be here all the time! What a gem!

Yelp
Food was very good, and service was excellent. Street food alacarte menu was awesome. Not much of an atmosphere.

Jordan V.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and authentic! We got the birria quesadilla + chicken frida quesadilla and will be coming back here regularly for it! Homemade salsa and guacamole was fantastic as well. Have no pictures cause we ate it all.

Yelp
Have been to Las Fridas a few times and for me, its my favorite Mexican restaurant. Have never eaten there as all my orders have been takeout, but the inside is bright and cheery. There is plenty of parking, so no worries. The staff is always friendly and helpful! Have ordered a few different items and have liked everything! Some favorites have been the honey chipotle lime chicken wings, birria tacos, shrimp and bacon burrito, and steak fajitas. Caramel churros are fantastic! Still lots of menu items that I want to try so will definitely be back. Highly recommend Las Fridas.

Yelp
So happy they are closer to us now! We were very excited for this location to open. The suadero is so good. Love the tacos, the wings. Everything is very good, fresh, flavorful. Service is very friendly everyone is always nice and smiling. The esquites are very good. The tres leche cake is HUGE but so good. We enjoy everything from here! It is BYOB.
google avatar

Yelp
The food took forever. I think they forgot to put our order in because other tables that came in after us, got their food before us. Once we got the food, it was lukewarm at best. The music was so loud we could barely hear each other. Wait staff was nice but we won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I am blown away by the food and service of this restaurant. So far, I have had their birria tacos, shrimp tacos, Frida's nachos, and Chilaquiles. Each of these dishes was extraordinary! Of course, their chips and guacamole are one of the best. Aside from fantastic cuisine, you'll also enjoy the warmth and friendly atmosphere of Las Frida's. Everyone is super kind and goes out of his/her way to accommodate you. I would give this restaurant ten stars if I could. I cannot wait to go back with my friends and family.

Yelp
Rising out of the ashes of California Tortilla like a Phoenix, Las Fridas has brought simple Mexican food to Doylestown. They are open 9-9 and serve breakfast lunch and dinner. I had a late lunch today and the restaurant was not that busy. Service was prompt and friendly. I order the chorizo street taco platter with black beans, and an horchata to drink. The horchata was quite flavorful with cinnamon quite prominent. Though the grittiness at the bottom of the glass was mildly disconcerting. The free chips and salsa was good, not great. The chips were fresh crisp and not greasy. The salsa was house made, a bit on the thin side, and lacking a punch of flavor. The street taco platter was fine if not unremarkable. The corn tortillas were not doubled. They also lacked grill marks, so the clearly didn't hit the plancha for long. The chorizo was spicy but not overly so. It also was not greasy nor was it dried out the way too many are. It was accompanied by house made green hot sauce which helped bring the taco to life. Overall good not great. I will be back because the extensive menu has many items I want to try!

Norma K.

Yelp
Had dinner here on a Monday evening. Restaurant was busy, even for a Monday. First time here. Food was delicious! We all had something different- quesadillas, enchiladas, burritos. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service was friendly and prompt but we weren't rushed. The ambiance could be improved a bit. Tables and chairs were a bit tired, and the feel is more like a diner than a restaurant. We will be back. Looking forward to trying their breakfast service.

Joe F.

Yelp
1st time at Las Fridas and food and service were both excellent. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere a bit lacking but comfortable casual. Will definitely be going back.

Yelp
So delicious! We got take out the other night & We're still talking about it. Great portions. Fresh ingredients. guacamole. We're looking forward to go & eat in - the staff was so friendly! It's definitely being added to our take out rotation!

Yelp
So glad we found this place. Extensive menu which doesn't always mean the best but I have tasted around it a few visits and it's pretty darn good The location is fine, ambiance is more like a take out joint, we don't mind it for lunch but sorta casual for dinner. The staff is amazing, good servers, attentive and helpful. Their quesadillas are amazing, which is such a basic that I never knew what amazing was until I had theirs. It's our Go to Mexican place now...

Michelle R.

Yelp
We had lunch here last weekend, and it was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I had the shrimp and bacon bowl. I wished I had ordered another one to take along because it was delicious! Great service too. Casual, comfortable environment. I may make the hour drive again because the food was that good!

Ryan N.

Yelp
I am a new customer at this restaurant despite living in Doylestown. I brought my family to this restaurant for a special occasion recently, and we had a wonderful experience. We were lucky to have Cindy as our server. She was professional, courteous, and patient with all of our questions as we began to read the menu and place our orders. The food was excellent, but it was Cindy's outstanding service that had all of us so pleased with our experience. Cindy was exceptional, and we hope to see her again very soon. The restaurant has a very authentic feel and the food was great, but it was Cindy who made the experience so special! Thank you!

Yelp
I can only give this place an "OK". Good - not bad, but not really good either. Granted, only had 2 item from their menu, but whether it was luck of the draw or not, those 2 items were "just OK". Something that bothered me was a "fee" for using your credit card. Yeah, I know, businesses pay a commission to credit card companies to take cards, but that's the cost of doing business. Sort of like asking me to pay a fee for using a clean fork. Worse, is the fee worked out to 4% of the total check, I don't know if they got an unfavorable deal from their bank, but most credit card commission fees are 2.5%-3%, so a company actually making a slight profit from this fee really bugs me. Also, it may have appeared on the menu somewhere I didn't catch - but the server didn't mention it to me when it came time to pay the check. Another knock. New place. Clean. Service very good and very friendly (would have been nice for a heads up on the credit card fee), and the food was OK. 3 stars. There it is.

Yelp
Continuing my wing tour at a new spot in town at Las Fridas of Doylestown. Honey chipotle lime was the name of the game. Flavors busting with every bite. I enjoyed the grilled marks and flavors from the sauced wings also had the street tacos asada and Carne. This is a BYOB spot also on weekends comes with complementary margaritas This is a tasty spot with great authentic flavors. I'd recommend giving them a try.

Yelp
This little gem was recommended to me by a college and boy was she right about the food service and ambiance. I love this place. It has no competition in the area for Mexican food and we have a few places trying! I have always hated going out for Mexican food as I'm vegan and when you take out the cheese, sour cream, and meats you are left with bland beans. Not here, the sauces and dips carried me through. I will be back real soon.

Brg H.

Yelp
We popped in on a whim to celebrate a birthday. Despite overpriced bottled sodas (I know, everyone does it today), the food was good. The Enchiladas Verde were spectacular. Maybe it's because I've been gone too long from the desert South West but dang. I'd do that again anytime. My 10yo claimed the hamburger was the best he ever had (they were likely frozen to grill but that's ok). Ambiance was low key. Service was friendly and patient with our indecision. Definitely will return.

Yelp
Favorite place for Mexican food in bucks county. The fajitas and shrimp tacos and Mexican Cesar salad are fantastic.

Yelp
Great New Mexican spot in Doylestown! My husband and I went for lunch on a Friday. It was busy, but our server was very attentive and prompt. He ordered shrimp tacos and I ordered a chicken taco and an asada taco. Our order came quickly and was presented nicely. Great flavors throughout and a nice fresh taste! We look forward to many more meals here!

Tom M.

Yelp
We've been here twice and each time has been awesome. Good food and great service. We will be coming back again.
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
I've stopped by a couple of times for quick takeout and have not been disappointed! The tortilla soup was yummy. The owners/servers seem very into it and I wish them the best of luck! Wonderful to have a good Mexican place nearby.
google avatar

Damon S.

Yelp
Wonderful, flavorful food served by delightful people! We've made our way through most of the menu and it's all pretty great. They've got something to suit most people.

Irene G.

Yelp
I've only ordered take-away but everything I've had has been fresh & delicious; generous serving sizes as I usually get two dinners out of one salad or entree. The service is great and everyone is super friendly. This is my new go-to for an easy week night dinner.
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
I love this place. The food is outstanding whether you eat in or take out. Great flavor, good ingredients, nice people, large portions. Much better than the last place that was there.

Kevin T.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best Mexican food I've ever had. The guac and the chipotle lime chicken wings are absolutely delicious and the restaurant is comfortable and the servers are friendly.

Beeg R.

Yelp
We've taken out from their other location in Maple Glen. The one complaint I had for that location was that the food lack seasoning. We were in Doylestown today so decided to give them another try. After all, it's not fair to judge them on takeout. We both got the special, the Mahi Mahi and ribeye fijita. The ingredients were fresh. However, they lack seasoning again. Good Mexican food should be loaded with seasoning. Also, the rice and bean are cold. I didn't eat them for fear of getting sick. For the Mahi Mahi tacos, I wish they know to put the fish on bottom and then cabbage and toppings on top. The fish was on top, so the tacos fell apart. Staff was friendly and pricing was reasonable. Place was clean. If they could just cook with more seasoning, we will be back.

Ryan F.

Yelp
Doylestown finally has a good Mexican joint. Ordered delivery a few weeks ago, and the food arrived quickly, fresh and tasted great Not door dash or grub hub. Their own driver. So I thought it would be worth a try, dining in. And it was. Great service. Fantastic food. What else can you say about Mexican food. Are they authentic? Idk 32 states in Mexico and they all have different salsas, so I can't tell you. Great place for kids also. Very casual Tacky decor is a standard for mexican restaurants. Wouldn't have it any other way.
google avatar

Maureen G.

Yelp
4.5 food was great. Staff was nice and personable. Shrimp tacos and birria were excellent. Would def like to try more items on the menu next time.
google avatar

LIsa W.

Yelp
Such a great addition to Doylestown. Every dish I've had has been delicious. Breakfast, too! Try the Huevos Rancheros Divorciados. I love it with carnitas. Such friendly staff. This place is all about authentic Mexican food.

Julianna A.

Yelp
10/10 would recommend, absolutely amazing service and food. Would trust them with my first born child.

Megan K.

Yelp
Best Mexican restaurant around! Every time we come here it is always amazing. Staff is always friendly and food comes out fast.

Kalman S.

Yelp
We love Las Fridas, go there often. We love the tacos and burritos, all of the food is good. The staff are wonderful and friendly, it's a relaxed and comfortable place, not fancy.
google avatar

William J.

Yelp
Fresh and friendly. I did have a sliced steak enchilada once, as part of a trio plate, the chicken and pork were up to snuff, but steak didn't make the grade. However, every other meal and visit has been very tasty. Particularly love the chips, salsa, guac as side, and huevos rancheros (bfast and lunch only) Mmm. Service is fast and friendly.

Dave W.

Yelp
This is the best Mexican restaurant in the Doylestown area! I've had several of their entrees and all were excellent. My favorite is the Birria (braised lamb) Taco Platter - delicious! I've enjoyed breakfast there too. It's pretty spacious inside so there are always tables available. If the parking lot is full, there is free parking on S Main and S Clinton streets.

bill z.

Yelp
We love Las Frida's. Great variety of Mexican staples. We start every visit with a Chili Relleno and Margaritas. From there we share various items, making our way through all the variations of tacos, enchiladas, sope and so on. Just added chicken tamale as a new goto item, up there with the relleno. This is a great place for the money. Enjoy what they have to offer. Service is always great, and consistent.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
The food and service was great. I had the birria tacos and my kids had the kid's burrito and tacos. Everything tasted amazing and most importantly my kids loved it. I will definitely be coming back!

Harrison C.

Yelp
Hands down best Mexican Restaurant. Definitely recommend. Staff is great and friendly and the wait is short. The food is top tier.
