Miami’s New Restaurant Openings - Miami - The Infatuation

"Las’ Lap comes from the chef behind Tatiana—the best restaurant in New York (according to us). Naturally, expectations are Katy Perry-riding-a-rocket-to-the-edge-of-space high. The Caribbean restaurant and bar is inside South Beach’s Daydrift Hotel and has a menu of dishes like wagyu griot, snapper with tostones, and an oxtail cuban sandwich we’ll be ordering soon." - mariana trabanino

Las’ Lap - Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"The celebrity chef curating the menu at Las’ Lap has quite the resume, including opening Tatiana, our top-rated restaurant in the notoriously competitive market of New York City. Now, Kwame Onwuachi's picking the dishes that will be served at this rum bar that’s being ported from the Lower East Side to South Beach—into a location that will have a rooftop view of the canal. Yes, it’s the latest addition to the seemingly never-ending NYC to Miami pipeline, but if the cocktails are as good as they are at the original location, no one’s going to complain. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Allie Conti

If you’re in Miami and want a spot that mixes great energy, amazing food, and a true island vibe, Las Lap is where you need to be. From the second you walk in, the space hits you with Caribbean soul. The lighting, the music, the crowd – it all feels like a celebration. The drinks were on point. Each cocktail looked like it belonged in a magazine and tasted even better. The bartenders clearly know their craft and keep the vibe fun. The food was the real surprise though – bold flavors, perfect portions, and everything came out fresh and hot. The dishes we ordered were full of color and flavor, and honestly made it hard to pick a favorite. Service was top-notch. The team moved with purpose but never rushed us, which made the whole night feel smooth. They checked on us just enough to keep the drinks full and the table clear without being overbearing. The crowd was a perfect mix of locals and visitors, which gave the whole place a cool, laid-back but lively atmosphere. It’s the kind of spot where you can dress up a bit, grab great food, and stay for the music after. Las Lap is officially on my list for every Miami trip. If you’re looking for good food, strong drinks, and a place that feels like you’re stepping into a Caribbean night out, this is it. Five stars all the way.

Had dinner at Las Lap and the food was absolutely amazing. It’s a lively restaurant with Caribbean-inspired flavors that shine in every dish. I honestly can’t pick a favorite because everything we tried was so flavorful and delicious. Our server was fantastic, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and drinks, and made the whole experience even better.

The overall experience at this establishment was exceptional. The ambiance, service, and food were all outstanding. However, I would recommend that future customers consider ordering and sharing their meals. The portions are relatively small, so sharing your meals can help you make the most of your dining experience. Despite this minor suggestion, I highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is serious one. It was simply amazing from the start to finish. I popped in expecting something, not sure but knowing I was going to get something good. Las’ Lap deliverers again and again. Phenomenal food, approachable menu, good music, amazing service and S/O to Jeff, our server. The spread was definitely an amazing voyage through heritage flavors and cultures. Solid.

Wow. Just wow. I’m not even a big seafood person, but the Escovitch Crab Claws blew me away—the claws were tender and that sauce (can’t remember the name) was so good I could honestly drink it. The South Beach Snapper on guacamole was super refreshing—felt like I was on vacation instead of thinking about work the next day. Perfectly balanced, not too “fishy,” just right. The Oxtail Cuban was comfort food on another level—the wagyu + mojo oxtail combo was crazy good, and the truffle was perfectly balanced (not overdone like some places). The Sticky Wings had great flavor and were cooked just right—not so crispy that they hurt your gums—but a little saucy for my taste. Still solid. The Grilled Lamb? 10/10. I could’ve eaten a dozen. Tender, flavorful, and no gamey taste at all. And the Wagyu Tasso was the star—juicy wagyu, incredible sauce over rice, and those coconut collards… unreal. Great food, great vibes, great music, great people. Honestly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while definitely worth the drive from Broward County. Only downside? Parking—but the food more than makes up for it.

Had dinner here with my girls last night.. we left full, drunk and happy. Feels more like a full restaurant than the NY location which has more of a late-night tapas and drinks vibe. The restaurant has moody lighting and the DJ keeps a good energy. This is not an over the top Miami restaurant but they do enough that it's certainly not casual; perfect balance. Our server, Alex, was funny, thorough with his review of the menu, (had a great mustache) and did not steer us wrong with drinks. When offered water, the options are: still, sparkling, and COCONUT water... which came in the coconut! We all tried the rum punch since it's a Jamaican staple and wow, amazing! That's the kind of drink you order a few of cause it's tasty and later can't walk straight. Sneaky! LOL As far as food, we ordered family style and overall did not have 1 bad plate. Here are my "can't miss" suggestions: The caviar service comes as a tartare with tuna, a bunch of toppings/sauces and ROTI! The south beach snapper reminded me of a yellowtail crudo 10/10- wouldn't skip it. The wagyu griot had some of the best rice and peas I've ever had out (restaurants undercook this rice often IMO) and the griot was SO tender, there's a chance that was the best griot I've ever had- outside of a trip to Haiti. The crab claws were good, obviously a smaller portion. The oxtail cubano sandwich is a little cheesy, has a hint of spice (great twist since cubanos have none) and comes with a little sauce. I had to fight to finish my last few bites of food but still did not skip dessert.. we aren't quitters. We only tried the gelato (all 4 flavors) and while I liked them all, I can confidently say to go right to that pistachio flavors without hesitation. That's the WINNER! Overall, not a single dish was subpar! We will definitely be back again to try a few other items we skipped.. have a little FOMO we didn't try the Rasta pasta. Next time. Love this new location! Will be dreaming of that griot tonight xx

What a beautiful experience. I will definitely be back to try the things we missed on this go. Snapper, Wings, Rasta Pasta, Griot, Mango Sorbet were all executed perfectly. The peppa sauce just made it that much better.

this one is goooood. Don't come here if you're expecting traditional Caribbean food; it is Caribbean flavor and technique reimagined by a James Beard winner. Expect to pay accordingly as dinner was nearly $400 (which included an automatic 20% service charge). Fantastic service by entire staff (but especially by our dedicated server Jeffery) and vibes. The food? I'd come back. Again, this is not your $6 Caribbean lunch special. You have to come open minded. My friend and I only had critiques based on our Trinidadian and Haitian heritages. If you can be open minded and enjoy the flavors melding (the flavor IS there), the technique, precision, and elevation used to bring our food to a new audience, this restaurant is well worth it. Also, the oxtail cuban is one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Miami and the snapper (a ceviche-style play on tartare) was superb. 10/10 for those. Will return to try other things; I think a small menu expansion should be considered after the opening phase since it would be hard to come here as a larger group and everyone get something different. Perfect for a date night or 2-3 friends getting together.

Yelp
I'm always very picky when it comes to fine Caribbean Fusion dining because most places lack the authenticity of the traditional flavors and spices of our dishes, but Las Lap has found a way to deliver exactly what I was looking for. High compliments to the chef! Some of my favorites of the night were the south beach snapper (15/10), the Wagyu griot (10000/10), the carpaccio 15/10, the charred dorade (15/10) the Cuban oxtail sandwiches 10/10, the escovitch crab claws 11/10, rice and peas (11/10) and the caviar service. Oh and the pistachio sorbet is an absolute MUST! The service was amazing especially for a restaurant that has just opened up in Miami. Everyone was very warm and friendly, our waiter was attentive and made our experience welcoming. It's a very intimate setting and the decor is beautiful but I have to mention the DJ was the star of the show. They were playing hit after hit from old school hip hop to r&b and to Reggae. It was a vibe. I really enjoyed my experience there and highly recommend going. I will be back for sure.

Yelp
Las' Lap was on my friends radar for a while and Since she had never experienced Jamaican food before I told her I would love to join her. The unique flavors and heat of the cuisine is really something everyone should try at least once (IMO). We ordered the beef carpaccio and crudo for apps. Both were so delicious and flavorful. For our mains, we had the oxtail and Rasta pasta. Neither one of us really cared for either of the dishes and the heat of the scotch bonnet really caught up to us after a while. The service was great, but the menu was a little lacking in options, but we did enjoy our experience overall.

Yelp
Such a well executed menu! If you've had the privilege of eating at Tatiana in NY then you know Chef Kwame doesn't disappoint. We were a group of 4 and tried the snapper ceviche which had a fantastic mango lime sauce, the oxtail cuban, sticky wings with a side of a halal side ranch, charred dorado which came with a side of rice and peas and the passion fruit gelato for dessert! Everything was so freakin good...def a must try.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've had in a long time in Miami the menu wasn't that big so we ended up trying almost everything and nothing missed!! And the service was next level I loved how they explained each dish they brought to the table!

Yelp
I brought my girls to Las Lap and we had the BEST experience. Food? 10/10. Music? 10/10. Service? 10/10. It's rare I say this about a place in Miami, but Las Lap really delivers on all fronts. The energy is authentic, the food is incredible, and the vibe makes you feel like you don't want the night to end. If you're looking for an unforgettable spot to eat, drink, and truly enjoy yourself. this is it. Highly recommend!
