Las Lías, found on the Michelin guide (and recently recognised) is a nice restaurant (I’d say closer to a bistrot), truly worth to be checked out. Staff resembles the homey Spanish cuisine, but food is pleasantly sophisticated. The tomato salad was good, tomatoes were tasty, and the cherry on top was given by pickled onions. The absolute highlight was the anchovies toast. This is truly among the best dishes I have tried, because it’s an explosion of taste and textured: creamy and luscious, buttery, crunchy, salty, punchy, all perfectly balanced. This plate alone is worth a start.
Sadly, I was truly disappointed with the outside menu suggestion, carpaccio of gambas, which was, in our opinion, a bit overpriced. Fish was truly tasteless. It was fresh, no doubts, but seemed as if it came straight out of a freezer. So after the anchovies toast there was definitely a jump backwards. The scallops with spider crab were interesting too, and rebalanced the situation. There was tomato sauce, and it was a nice interpretation although more plain in taste (but still more interesting than the carpaccio.) I was very happy with my wine (the waiter truly understood my preference), and the torrija with home made ice cream was really good, tender, soft, indulgent and with a good sprinkle of cinnamon.
The evening wasn’t too crowded, so we were able to enjoy the dinner without any noise. The price in the end was fair for the quality of ingredients and the care put in dishes (although I’d suggest to revisit the carpaccio because the taste is a bit underwhelming compared to the presentation).
I do recommend you pay a visit!
