"This Mexican spot has been a mainstay along Highway 101 and Cardiff State Beach for three decades, serving made-to-order beachside tacos and cheerful margaritas with idyllic views of the shimmering Pacific and golden sunsets. Wash down the popular Baja-style battered fish tacos and carnitas tacos with the spicy Chile N’ Pina margarita." - Helen I. Hwang

"Only Highway 101 separates this Cardiff restaurant from the beach. Equally impressive are the views of San Elijo Lagoon bordering the other side of the building. Like the other restaurants in this chain, the food focuses on Mexican dishes like fish tacos plus a wealth of healthy options." - Darlene Horn

Just driving around and came upon this small spot. It was different from a restaurant. You don't wait for an available table. You order your food and drinks at the cashier register, and then find an open table. But it was really quick. They got our order fast to us. Food was delicious. Staff was friendly and sharp. There was a real beach ambiance feel to it. Very relaxing, but inviting. Literally right across the street from the beach, so you could feel the wind coming thru the place. Felt great! I highly recommend coming here.

Been coming here once or twice a year for the past 6-7 years. It’s a nice spot wedged between the beach and the lagoon. It’s always pretty busy, but the staff moves things along fairly fast and there’s lots of seating. The flautas, tostadas, quesadillas, and burritos are pretty solid, though not at all the greatest in San Diego-Los Angeles-Tijuana. This is homey comfort stuff, not groundbreaking blends that make your eyeballs explode. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are good, the margaritas are strong, and the salsas are tasty. It’s at least worth trying out once, and you’ll probably want to come back at some point. Mix it into a beach trip and things get pretty fun. Enjoy.

If you are looking for a cozy Mexican restaurant in Beach side (but not sea view), I recommend this place. I tried fish and shrimp burritos which were delicious and good portions. The margarita was good too, the service is okay but I am not fan of paying when I order at entrance before even sitting (in that case the tip option is not fair as I haven’t tried the food and service yet), except that all was good.

Cool Mexican joint with a beachy vibe! Stopped here around lunch time in March (so not a super warm day) but loved the openness of the restaurant. It would be awesome to come in here after a hot day at the beach. Their margaritas are superb! Loved their "house" marg. My wife had the Morning Marg and loved that too! We got some chips and the salsa bar. Very good to snack on. I wish we had time to have tasted their lunch fare! Maybe next time - but from what I could see other clients were having, it looked and smelled good! There's a ton of parking in their dirt lot off to the side and a little bit in front.

Still paying your future bill order prior to eating at the entrance as you arrive, but staff says this 'pandemic practice' will end soon. (visit was July 31) Food was stellar! My wife said the Chilli Relleno was the best she ever ate, and she is a lifetime CR fan! 5 dollar Margaritas were great during Happy Hour (house tequila of course).

Great restaurant! Beautiful location; the food is delicious. There's lots of options to choose from. The staff is very friendly, prompt and helpful. The best time to go about an hour before sunset!

Average Mexican fare that is on the pricey side. Good portion and fast service. Why am I asked to tip extra at the counter when they are already making $20+ an hour and providing no other service than to type in the order?

Great location across from Cardiff state beach. Authentic Mexican food, and watch out for those Margaritas 🤣
