The Best Restaurants and Bars Near Joshua Tree National Park | Eater LA

"Old town Yucca Valley’s Las Palmas took over the former La Casita building a few years back. Las Palmas serves reliable combination plate Mexican food, with excellent versions of green chilaquiles and shredded chicken enchiladas. Sundays offer a reasonably priced brunch buffet along with live music that could include a guitarist and even a harpist while taking a bite of pozole, camarones ranchero, or chile relleno." - Matthew Kang

Visiting from beautiful San Diego. First time visiting this restaurant & I had high expectations. Went on a quiet Sunday afternoon around 4pm and we were the only customers. There was no one up front to welcome us. We found an employee & sat ourselves. Throughout our visit we had to walk up & ask for things like napkins, refills and our bill. Our food was good but the portions were small. I won’t return but I’ll recommend for first timers to make their decisions.

We stopped here for lunch on our way out of J Tree! The service was amazing, and the food was outstanding. We got their special chili relleno which was very well prepared. The chicken quesadilla was very good too! The Michelada was very refreshing. Definitely one of the better places to eat at in the J Tree catchment area!

Everything I tried tasted great. Good homemade Mexican food we all enjoyed it very much. Very mellow atmosphere made dining a pleasure as well. Attentive staff, without that 'rushed' feeling. ♥️ I will definitely go back soon, there is much more I'd like to try.

Got the Torta and the Burrito is much better. Great place overall!

Came in for lunch on a Friday afternoon after leaving Joshua Tree. Chose the location because of the ease of access on our route home, but we were absolutely charmed by the place and WILL be back when back in the area. Had the combo plate with the chile relleno and flauta with rice and beans. Everything was tasty and well seasoned. Portions were perfect. The highlight was definitely the staff! Drinks were refilled quickly, and we were checked on regularly. Our server was attentive and kind - when he realized he hadn't asked my son if he wanted his burrito wet or dry and the kitchen made it wet (son wanted dry), he had them remake it without a second thought. The food came out quick, and when the kids didn't finish their refilled drinks, they were given to-go cups to take them on the road. Everyone left full and happy!

We are from out of town, visited Joshua Tree N Park and exited via the West 'main gate/entrance'. We stopped in Yucca Valley and had a great lunch at Las Palmas. The atmosphere is very nice and the service good as well. The food was excellent. We had a great experience and were very happy we found it. Definitely recommend!

Mediocre at best. With a large variety of Mexican restaurants in the area this one didn’t live up the reviews. Ambiance was stale and chips and salsa are disappointing. Chicken was ok, not seasoned very well but the rice and beans were tasty, so there’s that.
