This is my first time to ever leave a negative review, but I was so disappointed on how the situation was handled, I wanted to share my experience. I called Las Palomas on March 30 to make a reservation there for 18 people for May 5 to celebrate our son's college graduation. I was aware that this was Cinco de Mayo, and that we had a large group, but I was assured by the manager, Andrew, that it would not be a problem to make a reservation that large as long as it was before 6 PM. They told me with a group that large we would have to break it into two tables which I told him that was was fine. I live in a different city, but my sister-in-law is local, so she stopped by the restaurant on May 4 to make sure everything was still good for the reservation. The manager, Andrew, assured her everything was set for a reservation of 18.
When we arrived the next day, they had two tables set up that only seated 16. They informed us we were sharing the room with another party who also had a reservation for 18. That was totally fine but I looked over and they also only had tables set up for only 16. (They messed up both reservations!) We pointed this out to the hostess but they told us there were no other tables available. We were a bit confused considering we had had this reservation since March 30 and my sister-in-law had even come by the day before to confirm. We asked to speak to the manager. The manager, Andrew (who I had spoken to on the phone and my sister-in-law had talked to the previous day) said there was nothing he could do. We pointed out they were other tables, but he said those were for reservations. We pointed out that we had a reservation which we had had for over a month and it was for a special celebration. He informed us all the other reservations were for special occasions too. He told us we could just pull two chairs up to the corners of the table. He said he was already losing money on us since we were such a large group using so many tables. I was shocked by this reply. Obviously they did not plan correctly because I don't think any restaurant would ever plan on having two adults sit at the corners of a table when a reservation has been made. At this point, he could've apologized and offered something to us, but he did not. When I suggested him offering something to us he said there was nothing he could do. There were no other tables. I said there's nothing you can do for us, considering we were inconvenienced? It was then he told me he was inconvenienced because of us using so many tables for our reservation. I was shocked by this response. I finally asked if he could give us anything for free. He then offered to get free appetizers to our group. I guess that's better than nothing but I was still so disappointed.
I understand mistakes happen, but with all of the planning we did, it would've been nice. If at least the manager apologized for their error and for our inconvenience. He never did. So disappointing.
