"Las Pizarras Bistro calls its style of cooking “market cuisine” because the chef takes inspiration from local, artisanal ingredients he purchases daily. It means the menu, written out on the restaurant’s namesake chalkboards, varies depending on what is freshest at the market that morning. The intimate, inviting space features an open kitchen where you watch cooks prepare house specialties like shrimp risotto or braised pork with roast vegetables and pear sauce. Don’t skip the passion fruit crème brûlée for dessert. By Travesías"

Las Pizarras Bistro “the chalkboards bistro” is a rustic restaurant in Palermo with a cozy atmosphere. The restaurants name is derived from the chalkboards on the wall which show the menu currently available. Of note, the menu changes regularly. The calf of venison was cooked to perfection with the meat sliding off the bone very easily. The ravioli were large and very tasty. The appetizer was chunks of grilled corn covered with a sweet and sour glaze and cheese. The atmosphere was very calm and pleasant and service was friendly and timely.

The lamb sausage appetizer was our favourite. The service was excellent, with our waitress explaining everything in English. Extensive wine list with something for all budgets. They use black boards for me as they buy fresh daily. A very enjoyable meal.

I have been in BA for 10 days and this is, by far, the best local restaurant I have been to!! Better than any of the steakhouses in the area! Went to the famous Don Julio too and I would prefer this restaurant!! Very friendly staff too! My Spanish is not so good and they were very helpful with the menu.

It was really good to pass time at this restaurant. People are so friendly and dishes are excelente. Since most of restaurants in Buenos Aires have almost same menu like Carne, milanesa, pastas,, but here you can find something different and enjoy dinner !!

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here last night. Top quality food and ideal if you're looking for something a bit more varied than the typical parillas in Buenos Aires. We had three courses and they were all excellent, the service was great and the owner recommended a delicious Malbec from Salta. The place had a lovely relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Would come back if we had more time!

Interesting restaurant, great option for a night out with a break from eating meat. The grilled fish was excellent and paired with creative sides. The sticky toffee pudding for dessert was delicious. The staff are really kind and welcoming, especially Ángel, a standout waiter! Cosy atmosphere.

Fine restaurant, simple decoration, focused on the dishes. We've ordered several appetizers and some main dishes. Overall it was a good experience. Prices are just fare but options are maybe too short. At the end, a glass of wine asked separately was very cold in order to deceive the vinegar flavor it had. For a bill that overcomes easily 15k pesos 2/3 people I though they could have been more thoughtful about it. Don't recomend ordering a single glass wine. The bottle of pinot noir was good though.

Google
Excellent place, you see that outside and inside doesn't have a very good looking image.. but the chef is what makes that place OUTSTANDING !!!! All the food dishes were amazing. Even the desserts were awesome. The waiters were very kind and help you with the selection you have doubts. Very good knowledge about which wines do you choose depending your dish selection 100% I will recommend this place to visit if you are near the neighborhood.

Yelp
I got a recommendation from my hotel regarding this lovely bistro. Everything said in the review before this one is spot on. Servers speak English (keep it simple). The food is local, seasonal and lovingly prepared. I ordered lamb shoulder which was roasted or grilled (not sure) but it was like no lamb I've had in my life. Most lamb I've had is like a cut of steak: dense and strong. This was tender like poultry with subtle lamb flavor. Wow wow! I'll never think of lamb the same way again. Service was kind, efficient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. My only critique is the amount of dressing on the salad, even though I generally like good coverage. I'm honored to give this restaurant its first yelp review in a while. I got a main, wine, water and dessert for $6000 pesos including tip. So worth it!

Yelp
Another happy customer. I can't tell you anything new than what many others have already said. Whatever is fresh that day is what they are serving. They even erased an item or two off the chalkboard while we were eating. I had the pig cheek with calamari, wife had the sea bream, both phenomenal. Door will be locked when you arrive but they are always keeping an eye on it and will let you in promptly (that's probably a fire hazard, but that's a discussion for another time). We made a reservation for right when they opened, place began to fill up shortly thereafter.

Yelp
Las Pizarras literally translates into the blackboards, and that is how the menu is conveyed across the walls of the restaurant. It's a cool concept, and certainly is dynamic, as aspects of the menu were tweaked right before our eyes. Written in both Spanish and English. No paper menus are circulated, so to share with your party, one must basically circulate the room and take photos of the walls. It caused a bit of confusion for us and others, but ended up not being a problem following said advice. Las Pizarras is a cozy and comfortable bistro that really wouldn't be out of place in NYC. Chef Rodrigo Castilla selects his menu based on what is found in the market on that day. We found the rustic dishes to be well prepared with nicely balanced flavors. We tried: - Burrata with Mashed Corn and Burnt Corn (ARS 200) - Tomato Carpaccio, Buffalo Yogurt, Pine Nuts, Carrot Vinaigrette (ARS 195) - Duck Confit, Sweet Potato Puree, Peas, Grilled Cherry Tomatoes (ARS 360) - Pork Steak, Sweet Potato, Black Tomato, Sweet Onion, Garlic, Yogurt Puree, Mango Criolla (ARS 360) - Sticky Pudding, Caramel Sauce, Banana, Goat's Milk Ice Cream (ARS 100) Wine list is also written on the chalkboards, and had a number of enticing options. We enjoyed the 2014 Tinto Negro Limestone Block Malbec from Mendoza, which was a great value (ARS 390). Overall, we had a very nice experience here, and would certainly recommend to anyone visiting BA. It's a solid choice - the food, wine, and atmosphere were all enjoyable. Service was proficient and quite good for BA standards. Felt comfortable and welcoming, and seemed to have a mix of tourists and locals, even at the early seating. Great choice for a relaxed meal. Total Cost: ARS 1,705 ~ USD 95 Credit Cards: Accepted English: Menu in English and Waitstaff Speak Dress: Casual Tipping: Not on credit card, need to leave cash.

Yelp
Las Pizarras takes the "closed door" restaurant to a new level, by actually locking the doors from both the inside and outside. I think this is because it's a really small space and there just isn't anywhere for people to stand around while waiting for a table... so they need to stand outside until someone lets them in. I really liked the vibe of the place. It reminded me of somewhere that would be really hip in Los Angeles. The menu is on the blackboards posted on the wall and the dishes are all "foodie" type dishes. Nothing conventional here. We ordered the suckling pig and the duck confit, both which were very generous portions and absolutely delicious. The pig was served in a large brick... I couldn't believe the serving size and I left feeling really really stuffed. That might be because I also opted for the apple crumble with ice cream (I couldn't resist). This was also good and worth the extra calories. Las Pizarras is a great option for when you want something other than steak / parilla!

Yelp
Food: 4.5/5.0 Service: 4.0/5.0 Value: 4.0/5.0 Decor: 3.0/5.0 Overall: 4.5/5.0 Wonderful dinner experience in Palmero. You can make a reservation ahead of time or just try to show up and wait, in which case I would come at opening time to beat the crowd. The menu is written on boards on the walls and will change real-time during the meal as times run out and get replaced by other things. The food is extremely good across the board, and I suppose the weakest part of the menu is probably the dessert. The value is also excellent - a very nice meal with a bottle of wine probably runs ~US$35-40/person for a table of four. Would love to return.

Yelp
After two nights of meat, meat and more meat, we decided it would be nice to see what else Buenos Aires's dining scene might have to offer, and one of our party discovered this gem for our third night in town. Arriving in the area about an hour before the restaurant opened, we planned to repeat the previous night's experience and wander the surrounding streets and windowshop or have a drink at a nearby bar, but as it turned out this section of Palermo did not have much to look at as did the area near Plaza Serrano, so we instead settled in for a drink at a small restaurant nearby while we waited for Las Pizarras to open. When it did, at around 8pm, we went in and received a very warm welcome from one of the waitresses, who asked if we preferred to speak English or Spanish with her, and then in very good English proceeded to explain how the restaurant works. The menu is presented on several blackboards that line the walls, with each dish described in both English and Spanish. There was also an extensive wine list on another blackboard. The choices were broad and almost everything sounded tempting, and with the waitress's help we soon made our choices: four different starters and four different mains so that we could all taste a bit of several things (we also had two desserts, since we did not want to go crazy). Since the menu changes just about daily, it may not be worthwhile reporting what we had, but here goes, just for the sake of describing the cooks' range: For the starters: 1) Tortilla of calamari and confit tomatoes with aioli; 2) Roasted pumpkin and beet salad with burrata and orange purée; 3) Tripe curry with red sausage nuggets; 4) Carrot and pea soup with goat's cheese. For the mains: 1) Baby chicken with kabocha squash and olive purée, cherry tomatoes and greens; 2) Grilled squid with cauliflower and capers purée, aioli and sautéed bok choy; 3) Wild boar's breast with grilled green squash, roasted pumpkin and greens; 4) Artichoke risotto with peas, citrus and crispy polenta. For dessert: 1) Quinces in red wine with quince ice cream and vanilla foam; 2) Caramelised pears with sabayon and vanilla cream. Almost everything was wonderful--the exceptions to this were the soup and the risotto, which were rather bland and uninspiring--and we enjoyed our time here very much. The restaurant gets rather busy, even on a Sunday, but the staff kept every table well looked after and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot. The fact that we appeared to be the only non-locals was also a plus in our book. On top of all this, it was the least expensive meal of our trip so far, around AR$250 per person. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely the best meal I had in Buenos Aires. The ambiance, the thoughtful menu, the impeccable technique , the wine list, the service were all spot-on.

Yelp
We came to this restaurant expecting a great night, but instead the owner argued with our group about the size of the reservation. We showed him the confirmation email, to which he acknowledged he was wrong (after being very confrontational), and said that there are "4000 restaurants that way." This is not helpful advice given that there are many subpar tourism focused eateries in Palermo! He could have remedied the situation by giving us a useful recommendation, apologizing, and inviting us back another night. For the price and reputation, there are many restaurants in BsAs that don't have an arrogant owner. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. It seems to me that this place gets a lot of good reviews simply because it is "farm to table," but that doesn't mean that the food and experience are going to be worth the price!

Yelp
Food was above par and the price was right. But if you find it hard to ignore scattered, sometimes indifferent service. you're not going to have a good experience. After being seated I was asked to move to accommodate a larger group. Awkwardly handled. The wrong salad was brought to me. Server disappeared so long, I had no choice but to eat it. I mentioned it. No reaction. Wine glass with plenty of wine left was cleared during a trip to the loo. I don't blame the servers. The owner of the restaurant was at a table chatting up friends in the midst of a dining room. Says a lot.

Yelp
Still great. Got the tortilla española followed by ojo de bife in the first of what will be many visits here. Simple food, fresh ingredients, expertly cooked. Looks like there are a lot more dudes in the kitchen and the food came out super quick.

Yelp
We shared a king prawns appetizer and had the duck confit as well as the wild boar as mains. Two thumbs up for exceptional service and overall great food!

Yelp
Top notch spot. This is not only an awesome restaurant reminiscent of a French brasserie, but it is a good value. Everything is reasonably priced for what you get. I had the lamb and girlfriend had some white fish (hake?) and they were both incredible. Reservation is a must. They were very responsive to our email for a reservation.

Yelp
Hands down the best we have eaten at in Palermo. You must get there right when they open or get a reservation but it is so worth it! The food is different and so good. There is so much attention to detail. The wine list is great to. You can't go wrong with this place.

Yelp
For better or worse, this is the kind of place that separates foodies from diners. I like food, and i think most people do, so let's start there. Before the meal, bread and butter were brought out. The butter had coffee in it. An interesting flavor, but for me, unnecessary. Butter is difficult to improve upon. For an appetizer i ordered the pumpkin and apple soup. There was a hunk of soft french cheese hanging out at the bottom of the bowl. I guess this is an adaptation of a local soup because i saw something similar (minus the apple) on a menu further west. The soup was unremarkable. For mains I ordered the sole. It came on a cabbage compote, with mixed kale and blackened carrots. It was the best cooked piece of fish i have ever eaten, period. For dessert i tried the creme brulee, which was tiny (thankfully) and sat on a layer of fruit seeds. Not pomegranate but something similar. Also, delicious! The fruit at the bottom added a refreshing crunch to an already stately dessert. A very nice adaptation. I ordered from every part of the menu: appetizer, main, dessert and wine, and i walked out paying $40 which included a large and well deserved tip. I consider that a bargain. On a separate note, you will be locked in while you eat, and out while you're outside. There's also no outside door handle. I'm sure they have their reasons. Tap on the glass if you'd like to speak with the staff about having dinner. Also, it's pretty small so you may have to wait. I ate alone and would have been chased out to turn over the table if this were in the States.

Yelp
Great! Interesting menu, constantly changing. Friendly staff. Negronis done right. One of the best dining experiences I've had in my time in Buenos Aires. I've been back a few times.

Yelp
If you are in Palermo, do stop here for dinner. Everything is local and menu changes daily. I had braised wild boar chest, smoked venison. Paired with 2 different Malbec's. (Excellent wine list) Simple, delicious. Service was terrific as well. What a wonderful experience for this neighborhood.

Yelp
Just a great dinner. Don't try it without a reservation. I emailed a week before traveling down. Google translate helped me compose the email, but probably not needed. The response was quick, and in English. What a terrific alternative to parrillas. 8 starter options and 8 entree options. Plenty of red and white options for you winos. Fear not if you're a non-carnivore. 2 starter and 2 mains are waiting for you. Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. If you need more than that, I'm concerned. Go and enjoy. I know I'll be back.

Yelp
Absolutely great!!!! It is a mix between "foodie" type food and homemade food. The kind of food you think you can cook at home but you can't because you need this amazing expertise. The place is not fancy at all and doesn't say much from the outside but the food says it all!!! One of the greatest spots in Bs As to enjoy great food and wine in a simple and very laid back place.

Yelp
One of the few places in Buenos Aires that deserves 5 stars. I've been here countless times and never have I been disappointed. The Service, wine, and most importantly THE FOOD are always on point. Consistently great.

Yelp
Las Pizarras Bistro is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Palermo. To walk by you would never guess that really interesting cooking is going on inside. The menu is on four different chalkboards, one each for appetizers, mains, desserts, and wines, respectively. It changes based on what is in season. I had an appetizer of shredded duck wrapped in thin strips of zucchini. The main was artichoke risotto with fresh English peas and topped with a soft boiled egg. For dessert, I had an apple tart with creme anglaise and ice cream. Every dish hit the flavor and presentation mark. The young service staff was attentive without being intrusive. This is a place whose business model relies on repeat diners from the Palermo area, not tourists. As such, they appear committed to being interesting rather than predictable.
