A Little Village Favorite Brings Its Signature Chilaquiles to Douglass Park | Eater Chicago

"I was reminded that González previously operated a quesadilla-focused concept called Las Quecas across the city and suburbs as part of a group that before the pandemic included eight locations of La Catedral and Las Quecas; he’s since pared back to two (soon to be three) and is planning additional projects for 2024." - Naomi Waxman

This place will just take your money and not feel bad about it, even with terrible service. My boyfriend and I came here to experience the good food we’ve heard about. This location specifically has terrible service. I ordered the chilaquiles plate that comes with 2 eggs, arrachera, and rice. I also ordered a jarrito and a cafe de olla. My boyfriend ordered the arrachera dinner with a jarrito and we shared guacamole and chips. We got our food and the portions were extremely extremely small. My eggs were overcooked and burnt, I literally received chips with salsa minimally poured over them. They literally made no effort to make them at least look like chilaquiles. My boyfriend and I both received Cecina instead of arrachera and I know it’s bc they thought we didn’t know the difference (we are from a diff culture) I asked the server if it was Cecina and he looked at me with a surprised face and said yes bc they were out of steak. There was absolutely no communication then had to sit and wait for them to make me a different type of meat for my plate. I had got up to check out all the sweets they had up front and over heard the 2 servers talking about us in Spanish and little did they know I speak Spanish, I am half Mexican and half black… terrible terrible experience. All together we paid $77 and they charged us for steak and not even a discount for inconvenience.

Nice and clean place. Fresh handmade Quecas (quesadillas nick name) From all the ingredients that you can normally find in almost every corner of Mexico City, you can even make combinations of different dishes. They are of a medium size well serve and they are ready super fast. During the week they have a different menu, like "taco tuesday"; Order your Queca one by one if you eat in, and enjoy this very Mexican dish. Four stars just for parking issues.

I was in the area and feeling some discomfort to my foot, the employee let me in since the place had just opened, she let me elevate my foot since I explained that I had a minor procedure, she brought me my food of course but also condiments knowing that I was trying to keep my foot elevated, the food was delicious. Thank you for such great service and the delicious meal.

Our first time here and it won’t be the last! Super friendly service, and the quecas (slang for quesadillas) were soooo good. Handmade tortillas and homemade guisados (fillings) were super yummy. Nothing was spicy, just seasoned beautifully. I highly recommend this place! The beef tinga was amazing with a Smokey flavor of chipotle and mild heat level. The quecas are approximately 12” long and you can split the fillings to taste more than one at a time. I can’t wait to go back and taste even more. If you’re looking for a smaller size ask for a Gordita and you will get a round version but without the cheese 😁 Sorry too busy stuffing my face to take a picture lol!!!

I went this moring to eat there order a quesadilla and my girl got chilaquiles and 2 cafe te la olla and as we were eating a roach was walking in out table passed by our plates and as we tried to move our plates it ran and saw another one in the seat behind my girlfriend where she was sitting at we told the waiter and all she did was grab a napkin and killed it and and gave a smile and said I don’t know where it gave from that was disgusting we just left our food there and still got charged for it 32 for food that we didn’t even enjoy and ate good nasty place

We loved this place when we came a few years back. I was surprised to see the reviews get so low. Well.... ...we're sitting here now and now I know why. Food is taking a disproportionately long amount of time. Getting a miller lite(bottle) took longer than a margarita. The food is great. Please don't bank on that making up for the service. Edit: food is very good. Bill came in and prices don't reflect what's on the menu for some drinks. We were told not all menus have been updated. Not exactly a customer problem is it?
