The Best Healthy Restaurants in Mexico City | Bon Appétit

"An hour Uber to the south of the city will drop you at Xochimilco, the labyrinthine network of waterways and canals that used to encompass the entire Valley of Mexico, during the reign of the Aztec Empire. At one of the dozens of docking points, you can hire a guide for under $20 to push you and 20 of your closest friends for a couple of hours on a trajinera, the colorful, named boats (look out for Beyonce!). There are two main sections: One ropes through residential neighborhoods with a decidedly more party-feel, while the other heads to the agriculture zone, still dedicated to farming. Whichever you choose, stock up on beer, snacks, even a portable speaker before hopping on. The more the merrier." - ByScarlett Lindeman

Visiting the trajineras was an incredible experience! It was such a fun and relaxing time cruising along the canals, drinking, and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. The colorful boats, lively music, and beautiful scenery made it a truly memorable outing. It’s the perfect activity to do with friends or family, and I loved soaking in the festive vibe while taking in the views. Definitely a must-do when in Mexico City!

The experience was not my favourite. I guess it would depend on whether you are into this kind of thing or not. Definitely would be a little more entertaining with a very large group. We were 5 people, had our own boat. I feel as though if you had a full boat and everyone is drinking and playing music it may have been more entertaining. There is really nothing to see, it is just a very dirty river, with merchant boats asking you to buy things. They sell food, alcohol, and souvenirs. Otherwise really nothing else to it. I wouldn’t recommend this excursion.

This was a pleasant and relaxing trip. There was plenty of excitement on the trip. This is a great side trip from Mexico City and I would recommend a boat ride of 2 to 3 hours. If you want to do a lot of drinking, then you can make it longer. But if you're just cruising for a relaxing trip, 2 hours would be the best. You can also take your own food and beverages. We took the boat ride on the weekday, I'm sure it's more crowded on the weekend and if you can, the weekday would be the best.

Had an absolutely amazing time at the Xochimilco boats! I went with my family, and we had a blast cruising through the vibrant canals. The food available is delicious, but like with any street food, it’s best to be cautious. If you’re visiting, make sure to check out the market either before or after your ride—there’s so much to see and enjoy! A quick tip: you’ll need to pay around 5-15 pesos to use the bathroom, so keep some change handy. Also, bring your own speaker to really set the mood with your favorite music. This experience is one of a kind, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico City!

I went with my family during Day of the Dead for a special performance; a play based on the mexican legend 'El Nahual' It was an amazing experience. The bad thing was that our trajinera was on the furthest corner, so we couldn't have a good view, but still ✨ We were free to take in our food thankfully 😅

Essentially a tourist trap. You get harassed everywhere to buy some stuff and everything. It seems starting from the northern embarcaderos is a better strategy if you plan to see anything from the ecologic area and don t want to send 5h on the boat.

What a fun day! Pretty pricey but you get a boat and boat down canal. Bunch of vendors. Don't buy corn, it's stale, hard and doesn't taste good at all. Everything else is super fun! People.play music, dance and just cruise down the canal

We did a 2 hour Traditional Tour which was amazing! Such an interesting, unique and super fun part of Mexico City! Our guide was friendly, great food and drinks from the boats, and the mariachi bands were lively. Would highly recommend
