I wanted to come to a restaurant I could walk to from my hotel and this place was just up the road. I just wanted to try a couple things so I got the wedge salad and asked for the vinaigrette instead of the Gorgonzola dressing and I also got the Cajun sea scallops. The salad was OK however, the lettuce was bitter, which was surprising. The sea scallops were good but almost slightly undercooked, a little gritty and a little salty

This past weekend we dined at Lasalle for a birthday celebration and it did not disappoint. Our food appeared to our table flawlessly plated. The food looked and taste incredible. Our waitress, Jen, gave us exceptional service. She was attentive to our needs and knowledgeable about the menu. I always appreciate attention to detail and this establishment met our needs well. My glass was never empty, food was presented beautifully, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Every bite I took brought me joy. The scallops though, were hands down my favorite part. I’d like to thank the kitchen and their chef for preparing such an amazing meal. I’d also like to thank the waitress for being so attentive and accommodating to our needs.

My husband and I were given a gift card to LaSalle grill and were excited to check it out. We had reservation for 8 PM on a Friday. There were two tables seated with people. The hostess sat us near the kitchen entrance and it was so loud we asked to be seated further away hoping it would be quieter. It was not. The staff was very loud in the kitchen joking and talking loudly. I felt like we were eating in a food court. It really was horrible. We considered leaving and to be honest I really don’t know why we didn’t. What we ordered was not good. The venison tasted like dry shredded roast beef with gravy and the fish was dry and fishy. Not good for a supposedly classy restaurant. Between the noise from the staff joking around in the kitchen and the dry food I feel totally ripped off. Over $180 spent for that. Never again. One good point was our server she was attentive and helpful.

Google
Food was excellent. Our server struggled. She was very confused and was asking other wait staff for help. The big issue was the bar staff seemed inebriated. Laughing constantly making fun of people and breaking glassware and laughing about it. Condescending about guests. The blond bartender was emptying bottles of wine into glasses to make a pour. We said these a short pour she became Very unprofessional. We are here entertaining vendors and I will not return. A very poor experience.

The Wife and I wanted to have a nice date night, for this night (a Friday night) we chose the LaSalle Grill, seemed kind of exclusive, fancy dining. we set reservations days in advanced for 8pm, showed up and they had our table ready! here is where our only (yet huge) issue came, we waited 40min for any waiter to even talk to us, no water, no nothing, after the long wait the hostess asked us if we have been seen, we said no, and she was super apologetic, and had the manager come over, he expressed how sorry the breakdown in communication on who was supposed to wait our tables, and he reassured us our night would be perfect from then on, and he was RIGHT! the service and food was so amazing, it was worth the wait, the staff was super nice, and food was on level of some other (much higher priced) restaurants we have been to, the prices are fair, well worth the food, the atmosphere was wonderful, only small minor issues was it looked like stains on our tablecloth? not sure, it was a non issue as the night and location was amazing, highly recommend this place, especially to couples! Thanks again to the Manager and hostess who helped fix the issues we had, and thanks to the amazing waiter (who once he knew we where his table) he was top notch! Food - NY Strip, Salmon, bread app, desert. Drink - THE BOURBON MANHATTAN, WINTER MULE

Google
Absolutely an excellent dining experience. Menu and wine list are top of the line. Staff was professional, knowledgeable and very accommodating. Food and cocktails were prepared to perfection. I need to go back so I can try desserts. Just too full on this visit.

Google
My first experience there with out of town family was perfect. The service was impeccable, friendly, knowledgeable and available throughout the meal. The food was fantastic. I had the shrimp cocktail, porkchop with corn grits and the infamous bread pudding. If you want a boujie meal with great service, this is your place. Make sure you make a reservation! Seating fills up very quickly and I can see why.

Google
Ordered their top steak. The strip with peppercorn sauce. The carrots were great. Green beans prepared nicely. Potatoes were OK. Steak was dry and a little over cooked. The sauce tasted like grease very little flavor, even light on the pepper.

Yelp
My husband, friend, and I went here after a day of wine tasting. We were actually supposed to go to the kitchen & tavern but got confused and wandered in, which they were able to accommodate easily. We started with the oysters, which were *delightful* albeit small - which is just the name of the game with oysters sometimes. We just wish they were bigger because we wanted more! The entrees were delish. I got the swordfish and pretty much licked the plate clean.

Yelp
Excelente food and atmosphere. The steak was out of this world. It is pricy but is worth it.

Yelp
Wonderful service and special treatment for an old man's birthday. It felt like the treat it was meant to be. Thank you LaSalle grill.
google avatar

Joanna S.

Yelp
Went for a milestone birthday. They created a customized menu (printed a menu with the birthday girl's name and date at the top) and had a birthday card from the whole kitchen staff. It was a great night. I loved the appetizers we got: basically everything seafood. I actually wasn't all that hungry for a meal so I got the vegetable casserole to pick at which wasn't good (oddly large, breadcrumbs on top were raw not baked, and was lacking flavor overall). We also got some desserts which were great. So, mixed experience on the one entree, but everything else was so good I'm not complaining.

Yelp
UuuuuhhhhhMaZiNG! Very Cutesy Set Up that's inviting and takes you to a scene in Emily in Paris. Shout Out to Tia who was doing such a great job training Ryan. We sat outside and enjoyed the Beautiful Lively Autumn Night. Food/Drinks is Really Really Good, that it was the surprise I didn't know I needed. What a Great Dining Experience and Highly Recommend if You're Not Sure Where to Go and in the Mood to be Impressed!

Yelp
We haven't been to LaSalle Grill in a few years. We were looking forward to a nice dinner out. Well, not sure what will bring us back. Starters were foie gras (very small portion) and baked Brie wrapped in dough. The foie was good as was the Brie. Next up was a very underdressed caeser salad and a lobster bisque. There was zero lobster meat visible in the bisque. I say visible as it must have been liquified or something. Disappointed with those. Next up was the porterhouse pork chop and seared scallops. The scallops were done perfectly. The pork was a bit over but thankfully not dry. It was however drowned in a pancetta bolognese that overpowered the chop and Gruyère potato side. Ended with molten chocolate cake and a bourbon maple syrup bread pudding. The desert was the best part of the meal. I'll add that with paying for each soft drink (no refills apparently) was a bit tacky. I did not expect that from a fine dining restaurant.

Ricardo M.

Yelp
Had the $60 boneless ribeye. Ordered it medium rare and it came out medium. Paired it with the $12 wedge salad. Steak kinda sucked. Ruined a good piece of meat. Waiter didn't ask once how things were. Listen - the ambience is nice. It's an upscale restaurant. But prices have become ridiculous for the entree offerings. I will say the $4 domestic bottled beer was an unusual sighting. That's value. We only come once a year. I think we'll do Cafe Navarre next year instead.

Yelp
I went here with my wife for our tenth anniversary. Our waiter, I think their name was "TC"? was rude, short, and clearly trying to make as much money off of us with as little effort as possible. suggested several bottles of wines and drinks that were not anything we were remotely interested in. and the owner even came and spoke to us, as though to impress us? and he looked like he came straight out of Deadwood as an extra. you realize that Deadwood in 1884 is NOT a goal to aim for? "Hello, I'm Mark McDonnell (I had to google their name) and I think people are really gonna get back into civil war heritage!" you look like a goddamned buffoon. but hey, at least you're willing to try and charge Chicago prices for northwest Indiana boring, mediocre old fashioneds. hey, someone has to pay for your overpriced underpowered pickup truck to make up for lack of size elsewhere, right ?

S J.

Yelp
South Bend doesn't not have much in the way of good restaurants let alone great restaurants. La Salle could be so much better. Their food should aline with the prices but they don't. It is very expensive and the menu looks good but the food just don't live up. Very mediocre. The steaks are so thin and more often than not are overdone. Nothing special about this place. The servers are good which is the only reason it gets a 4 star vs 3.

Yelp
My husband and I were given a gift card to LaSalle Grill and we were very excited to eat there again. We had a reservation at 8PM on a Friday night. The restaurant had two other tables seated. The hostess wanted to seat us near the kitchen but do the excessive noise coming from the kitchen we requested a table further away. The staff was talking and joking loudly, it was terrible. The table we ended up being seated at was a little better but still very loud. It felt like we were eating in a food court not a classy upscale restaurant. We probably should have left and I don't know why we didn't. We ordered our dinner and it was not great. The Venison tasted like dry shredded roast beef with gravy and the fish was dry as well. It was so disappointing. We often eat out at fine dining restaurants in Chicago and during our travels. This was not one. The price was very high and the overall quality was low. On a brighter note our server was great. She was very attentive and helpful.

Yelp
Not knowing much about South Bend, my dear friend made reservations for my early birthday celebration! We ordered the lamb chops, Grouper, Filet and we were mindblown at the love and care for presentation! We also ordered O Shaunessy Cabernet Sauvignon! TC was our server and was meticulous with keeping our table clean, and celebrating our girls weekend. Cannot give enough stars for our dinner! Thank you La Salle!

Yelp
A wonderful date place. We enjoyed the service and just the attention to detail for us. I started with a Guava Mama which came in this cute Tiki Cup and I enjoyed the almond encrusted Grouper (so good I forgot to take a photo lol) Definitely worth the visit in South Bend :-)

Yelp
Brian was our bartender on the third floor . When you go upstairs you get the menu from downstairs AND the upstairs bar menu which we ended up ordering all our food from. Brian made our night with his wonderful cocktails, conversation and honest food recs. Will be back! The third floor is not crowded and apparently they have live music every Friday night! Shuffle board as well! The Buffalo wings are super tasty one of my faves

Yelp
Food: Exquisitely delicious. Service: Attentive, polite, professional. Ambiance: Understated elegance In my view, the best restaurant in town. Particularly suited for special occasions (tell them and enjoy the special attention).

Yelp
We worked with Kim and the team at LaSalle to cater our wedding of about 150 guests, and had the pleasure of dining there as part of our catering engagement. Our tasting experience was a lot of fun, as we got to dine with a couple of friends and sample the menu, while enjoying some excellent wine selected by their sommelier. We were impressed with the quality of all the items we tried -- not your typical wedding fare! Setup and service at the wedding was seamless, and all the servers working the event were quick, courteous, and fun. We have some discerning guests when it comes to food -- including some people who worked in hospitality -- and they all raved about it. The filet, chicken, and tofu entrees all got great reviews. Would definitely recommend LaSalle as caterer for any event, and we plan on returning to the restaurant for our first anniversary meal!

Steve H.

Yelp
Overall it was very good. High quality food served in a very upscale environment. From appetizers through dessert everything was just great.

Yelp
Phenomenal. Everything was great. Mains, sides, drinks, and desserts were all top notch.

Yelp
Finally got to eat at this old but famous restaurant in downtown south bend. First of all, the restaurant menu is really good! Go try now while the deal is still on. I would recommend the salad or the fruit pie appetizer. I tried the Amish chicken for entree, which was very flavorful, juicy and tasty. My friend had the steak which was also very delicious (however from her words, the medium steak looked like medium well) For the dessert, please try the molten warm chocolate cake! It was just insanely good and really looked nice on the plate. The chocolate was so good with the chocolate sauce inside, and the ice cream was also tasty. You can reserve seats for Monday-Thursday online, but reservations are not available online for weekend. Street parking is limited, but you are always park in the 2hr free parking garage right opposite the street. Valet is $6. Overall, very satisfied experience, and I would definitely come back again and try other things on the menu!

Yelp
If you want a fancy, high class meal in South Bend, this is the place to go. They really go all in on ambiance--the price is a bit more than I'd like, so I only go here once every few years, but I always have a meal that makes me wish I had an extra zero at the end of my paycheck--if I did, I'd go here every week.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Come in and request Bradlea, she is the best server in the area! Very knowledgeable and personable. Would highly recommend!!

Betty C.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the finest dining experience we've had in a long time. Waitress was excellent, food was exceptional, can't wait to go back. Ambiance was so nice and relaxing. If I could give it more stars I would.

Sherry M.

Yelp
First time dining in South Bend and we lucked out with this pick! Great service and fabulous food. Loved the ambiance, too!

Yelp
Visited on a Thursday afternoon around 5 pm. I was the first dinner guest of the night. Everyone was polite. Food was pretty good - for dinner I had the Amish Chicken. Next time I will definitely try something different. This dish was good but didn't blow me away. Creme Brulee was really good and perfect for one person. Decent prices on wine. Interior is older looking, not contemporary at all. A bit dated looking but I could see the clientele that would enjoy this atmosphere. Not necessarily my style.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in South Bend. Upscale with outstanding food, service ambiance. A must go to place for special occasions. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Service not that great waitress was not pleasant Overpriced small portions Dine in area very cluttered

Yelp
It's been a few years since we've been to LaSalle Grill. Glad we went for our anniversary. The food was great and the service even better. Thanks for a great treat.

Yelp
Service is fantastic. Typically get a lot of attention from your server. They have a limited menu currently but nonetheless the food was still great. I would recommend if your looking to go out for a upscale nice dinner.

William S.

Yelp
The service and ambience were outstanding; even though it was a crowded New Year's Eve. My filet was delicious and a perfect cut. However, the branzino sides were different than described by the menu and it tasted and looked like catfish. We will be happy to return to La Salle Grill.
google avatar

Yelp
We were in the mood for a little meat, so this menu called to me and my coworker. We got the wedge salad but requested they chop it instead...perfect!! New York Strip and filet mignon steaks cooked to our taste perfectly! We got a side of Mexican corn which was a little spicy for our taste, but the spoonful we each had was good. Worth trying! The crème brûlée I had for dessert was also excellent!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Great food and service. Nice place for a double date with some friends. Live Music of Friday nights.

Yelp
Don't you just wish yelp would let you put decimal points!! My experience was more of a 3.8 star. The service and ambience was 5 star for sure. Compared to Cafe Navarre it has more of a "classic" elegance to it as Cafe Navarre has a more modern elegance. I loved how the tables were set up and the reservation was easily made a week before. The food was prepared well but there were just some mishaps for me. My appetizer was a duck leg confit but it just did not look appetizing to me very grayish color almost and it was oddly paired with these beans that reminded me of beans and franks. Separately the items tasted fine but just did not mesh together at all. My other appetizer was mussels and I have to say this pairing was even more odd to me. First of all this was more like a tomato soup to me. It was very runny and then another weird pairing of Olives! A couple are fine but this literally was olive soup. Very very odd pairing for me and it really overpowered the taste of the mussels. My main dish was a sirloin steak with fried onion on top and mashed potato and green beans. The steak came out beautifully however there was no POP Wow factor for me flavor-wise besides the steak being cooked perfectly. There was just something lacking. The dessert was what saved the dinner for me. I had the creme brûlée and omg I am sooo happy my husband does not like dessert because I did not split it with him the caramelization was perfect on top and beneath that was just yummy goodness. One of the best I have ever eaten!!! All in all I came during restaurant week do it was a steal! However if I had gone outside of that I would have been really let down blowing some top dollar on some weird pairings. Maybe I was expecting more for a 5 star restaurant?

Mandana S.

Yelp
Simply amazing. Always had a great experience there, I'd say they're the best in town.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! We both ordered steaks, a filet and beef medallions. Prepared to the perfect doneness as ordered. We also ordered dessert to go. Decadent bittersweet chocalate. Sorry I didn't get a pic of the desserts!

Yelp
Great dinner awesome lamb shank and steaks and really nice cocktails. Our server Autumn was fantastic - engaging and attentive and fun to speak with.

Yelp
before i start this review, i have one disclaimer: the service here was 10/10. our waitress was SUPER friendly, and this is the only thing keeping me from giving LaSalle 1 star. i'm generally not a critical reviewer, but midwestern food has turned me into one LOL. first off, we didn't get table bread (??) which was weird since most other tables did. bad start to a worse meal. my starter was caesar salad; it's hard to mess this up, but the croutons were stale, they did that thing where you have to chop up the lettuce yourself (which i hate), and the dressing was definitely paul newman's-- needless to say, not good at all. i had high hopes for my entree (the chicken), but it was dry, flavorless, and not crispy whatsoever. i'd be surprised if they didn't boil it. the vegetables tasted like they were from the freezer as well. i also tried the risotto, and it was cold and flavorless. i've had baby food that tasted better. so, moral of the story: food = -3/10, service = 10/10, ambience = 5/10.

Yelp
Six of us celebrated my brother's 50th birthday prior to attending Kinky Boots at The Morris Theatre. The menus had a birthday message printed on the front and our server was amazingly attentive and the food delicious. The cocktails were great and wine selection a perfect accompaniment to our celebration. Our thanks to the entire staff for making this visit memorable. We have been back several times since and never been disappointed.

Staci S.

Yelp
Top notch food and service in an upscale, yet relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend the crab and corn croquettes as an appetizer. For something a little different, try the cream of peanut soup! Many types of offerings for entrees. We selected the grouper and rack of lamb. Thumbs up on both dishes. The creamed spinach pairs well with any dish and makes you think...what is that hint of flavor?? Tasty! You can't go wrong with the bread pudding or chocolate lave cake for dessert! We plan to visit again on our next trip through South Bend, and we'll be sure to ask for Rachel. What a sweetheart! Not only was she friendly and attentive, but she is interesting and a genuinely nice person. Stop in, say hi and enjoy a delicious meal!

Yelp
I ordered a carryout last night of a ceasar salad and sauteed mushrooms. I wanted grilled salmon but sadly they were out, so plain it was. Got home and to my disappointment it was a side salad size and there was no dressing and the lettuce was limp. We called and spoke to Casey the manager and he jumped into action. He had the salad remade in the right portion and drove it out to our house! Above and beyond, keeping LaSalle Grill to the standard I have known it to be as a native.

Robin A.

Yelp
Food was really good with good presentation. Service was excellent. Expensive but worth the price highly recommend it!

Curt B.

Yelp
LaSalle Grill has become our preferred fine dining destination in the South Bend area. The menu is ever-changing, and we have never been disappointed in any way with any of the appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, and desserts that we have greatly enjoyed. The wine selection is well-cultivated, and Casey is a top-tier expert in wine pairings. Cocktails are always superb, and Bradley is an excellent barkeeper. Also, Jordyn is a top-flight wait person. Highly recommended without any qualification.

Don R.

Yelp
Great food and service. And, a fantastic wine selection! Looking forward to going back again.
google avatar

Yelp
The LaSalle has become a huge part of my family's great nights out tradition! My husband and I look forward to date night when ever possible as you are treated like you are special each and every time. The chefs choice means are amazing! I cannot wait for the next chance to get out and see what they are cooking up next. Their wine cellar is full of surprises and actually at a good value. Do yourself the privilege and go!

Yelp
Once again, LaSalle Grill delivers! It's our anniversary, and we always go to LaSalle Grill. So we were really pleased to find out they had a dining take out/delivery opportunity. We had the Surf and Turf, delivered to our door, and it was totally fabulous. This was a full meal, with salad, steak, lobster tails, bread, vegetables, potatoes, and rice, plus dessert and a bottle of wine. We added the Gorgonzola Mac and Cheese, because, gee, we're celebrating. We are both stuffed, so we are taking a break before we tackle dessert. I just wanna say THANKS!

Bella P.

Yelp
delicious, classy, and amazing staff. get the roasted garlic-you won't regret it. It's a must t try

Jim B.

Yelp
The best in South Bend! Amazing food and service. Staff is A+! We have OUR seats at the bar and frequent the grill often.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
I ate an appetizer, the Amish Chicken, desert and coffee. Service was perfect. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The desert and coffee were my highlights. An $84 dinner should have been outstanding (for one person) but left me disappointed beyond belief. I won't be back.
google avatar

Janie H.

Yelp
Not sure if it was just because it was restaurant week or what but the service was very slow and the food was subpar. One of us ordered the steak medium rare and it was almost well done. The potatoes were hard, the best part of the meal was the appetizer. We had always heard good things about this place but we were very disappointed.

Anthony T.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my meal at the LaSalle Grill. Julian was our waiter and was fantastic. Crab cakes were good but I suggest having the sauce on the side. The house salad was also good. My filet mignon was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. And the bourbon bread pudding was outstanding.

Yelp
My wife attends a South Bend conference every year. We have dined here for six or seven years now and always have a great meal and impeccable service. Highly recommend this establishment in an otherwise dreary dining region.
