The 35 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"Lasarte is brought to us by Martín Berasategui, the chef who owns the most Michelin stars in Spain—twelve in all—and the third most Michelin-starred chef in the world overall. At present, seven of his restaurants boast 12 Michelin stars between them, Lasarte Restaurant in Barcelona has three. So it goes without saying the food here is going to be something out of the ordinary. You can tasting menu or à la carte (we recommend the full splurge on the tasting menu and wine pairing). Whichever you choose you'll find transcendent items like head chef Paolo Casagrande’s signature squid tartar with egg yolk, or Berasategui’s own mille feuille of smoked eel, foie gras, spring onion, and green apple–served as a snack. And make sure to save space for pastry chef Xavi Donnay's cherry petits fours. Donnay took home best pastry chef honors at The Best Chef Awards 2020." - Isabelle Kliger, Gemma Askham

"Still unfamiliar with the gastronomic world of Martín Berasategui? It's unusual to find spin-offs that manage to live up to the standards set by the original, but that is exactly what has happened in this incredible restaurant, named after the town in which this chef has built his culinary empire. Here, Paolo Casagrande, the protégé of this San Sebastián culinary maestro, puts his own spin on exquisite dishes first conceived by his mentor, showcasing them in a more avant-garde setting (undulating ceilings that mimic waves, ethereal lamps that resemble jellyfish, golden tones etc). Whether you order from the à la carte or opt for one of several tasting menus, your experience is taken to the next level if you sit at the Chef's Table, an exclusive space where you can watch the chefs in action through a large window. One of our favourite dishes was the roasted virrey fish with clams pil-pil, velvet crab and champagne with a fine hazelnut cream and caviar." - Michelin Inspector

Anyone giving this place less than five stars has forgotten what it means to go to places like this. The service was immaculate. The food was an experience with every bite. Could’ve been a good day for the restaurant or a bad one and I still would’ve had my mind blown. To say otherwise is pompous. Only critique would be to confirm the cost of certain add-ons like water and coffee.

Google
I enjoyed the €345 course. I regret that Google does not allow me to rate much higher than five stars... I interpreted it as a French-based creative dish, but is that correct? When I ate it while imagining the taste from the appearance of the dish, it was shown to be far beyond my expectations in terms of flavor, texture, aroma, and harmony. Personally, I was most impressed by the artichokes that blended with other ingredients such as mushrooms in a way I have never experienced before, the soup that brought together the depth of shrimp, and the unique approach to Wagyu beef that I have never seen in Japan. I also had a lot of high-quality wines, and was impressed by the value I felt at the bill. At other restaurants, there are cases where unnecessarily expensive items are served and the price tends to be inflated, but that is not the case at Lasarte. The service was also extremely sincere. I would definitely like to visit again.

Google
This is a completely honest and valid review, not an exaggeration, I promise. TL;DR based solely on the food for those too impatient to read the whole story- the food is "good" but not great whatsoever. Three Michelin stars be darned, a large number of dishes completely missed in a big way. And for the outrageous price tag, it is AT BEST a 2.5 or 3 out of 5 stars. So why am I giving it 1 out of 5 stars? My wife became violently ill after the meal, likely from food poisoning. The restaurant refused to even respond to my attempts to contact them. Introduction: bad first impression, so the place doesn't open until after 8pm...but our reservation was for 8:00 so we arrived 10 minutes early, naturally, and waited almost 30 minutes to be seen and seated. Drinks: we are not much for alcohol. My wife ordered a mocktail which was essentially apple juice mixed with 2 or 3 other elements that were completely lost and indistinguishable behind the apple juice base. That didn't stop them for charging us €18 for it. I asked for a beer menu, but the waiter insisted he recommend me a beer based on my preferences. I said I like German and Belgian style wheat beers. He recommended a pilsner...and it becomes apparent he doesn't actually know anything about beer, so I politely declined and ask for a local Spanish Lager instead. It was just okay. I wish I actually got to see a full beer menu. Appetizer: we ordered the tasting menu. The first bites and appetizers are mostly pretty good! The mushrooms and clams appetizer was tasty. The fennel was interesting, not bad but nothing special. The shrimp tartare tasted like almost nothing, which is honestly fine with me given that it was raw shrimp. The steak tartare also tasted like nothing, which was a shame because I love steak tartare. Bread: I hated the bread service here. They have 6 different types of bread, 5 types of butter, and a house made olive oil. All that is great. The main problem is they portion the bread out for you 1 to 2 pieces at a time between courses. You never get a chance to try a type of bread more than once, and if you get a type that you don't like then you're just sort of pressured to eat it anyway. Why does the customer not have the liberty to get all the bread at the table and once to taste and portion themselves their favorites? I experienced far better bread services at 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants in the past. First courses: the courses here really struggled to land for me. The sea cucumber and octopus were alright but nothing special (there is a theme here). The "pineapple 5 ways" dish was utter slop: it was a contrast of texture and temperature preparations of pineapple that confused and annoyed the palate as opposed to tantalizing it. The scallops were fine but the mucousy base textures in the sauce surrounding it were offputting, to say the least. The ravioli was the best of the middle courses, it was al dente and delicious, and the foam around it gave it a nice textural contrast. Main course: the biggest miss of the night had to be the pork trotters. When your menu only has 2 main "meat" dishes and one of them is a piece of pork that is 90% fat and collagen, then it feels like a cheap experience. I like fatty meat as much as the next guy, but this "meat" ate like a foreign delicacy that locals would enjoy, not a main dish at a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Horrifyingly bad dish. The venison, in contrast, was absolutely delicious. Best venison I've ever had. Dessert: my favorite dish of the night might have been the white chocolate and pistachio dessert. It was amazing and unique. The second dessert was called "baba spheres" and that was pure nonsense. The spheres were tasteless, not sweet, not herbaceous, not bitter. Nothing. The petit fours were also just okay. Verdict: I've had better experiences at 1 Michelin star, 2 Michelin star, and fine dining restaurant without any stars across both Europe and the world. This was my first 3 Michelin star experience and will probably be my last. To pay a grand total of $875 USD for two people for

While our culinary journey has included numerous Michelin-starred establishments across the globe, Lasarte, regrettably, didn't resonate as deeply with my personal preferences. The artistic expressions crafted by Chefs Martín Berasategui and Paolo Casagrande, while undoubtedly showcasing technical skill, leaned a little too heavily into haute cuisine for my taste, resulting in an atmosphere that felt somewhat intimidating. There's no denying the freshness and elegance of their dishes, nor the undeniable refinement of the techniques employed. However, the impact wasn't consistently "mind-blowing," with some courses seemingly relying on the inherent quality of premium ingredients for their impact. Considering the significant price point and the restaurant's esteemed three Michelin star status, I had anticipated a fully immersive and theatrical dining experience. Instead, the ambiance felt somewhat confined, and there was a subtle undercurrent that suggested an expectation of continuous upselling to fully appreciate the experience, creating a slight sense of pressure and potential judgment. Despite these personal reservations, Lasarte remains an experience worth having at least once, particularly for dedicated food enthusiasts visiting Barcelona. It offers a glimpse into the heights of culinary artistry, even if it doesn't universally strike a chord.

The three-star experience in Spain is truly in a league of its own. The chef’s creativity is insane—in the most brilliant, unforgettable way.

Google
My absolute favorite restaurant on earth and of course favorite amongst 3 star places! The first time I came here I dined on back to back days and I just now flew into Barcelona for one day (from San Francisco) to visit Lasarte. The service is exceptional beyond measure - super warm, professional, and attentive and the cuisine & wine pairings are unreal with impeccable attention to detail. The ambiance is also extremely elegant and calm. The team here are consummate professionals who are at the absolute pinnacle of what they do. They deliver experiences so exceptional that there are few things in the world I’d rather do than dine here. Highly recommend!

Google
I wanted to love this place but it was a bit of a miss for me, considering that it had 3 Michelin stars and we paid almost 1000EUR for two of us without alcohol…The food was beautiful and tasty; however, you would enjoy yourself much more at somewhere like Enigma also in Barcelona. The service was ok. Some staff were very friendly (young man with glasses who served us bread was very nice. sorry, I forgot his name), while others were just polite and serious. They also messed up a couple of our orders (serving bread with bacon when we told them we don’t eat pork, ice when we asked for no ice in a drink). That stuff doesn’t usually really bother me but I guess I expected more from such an expensive and revered restaurant. Atmosphere is also nothing special. Looks like just any restaurant, with no imagination. TL;DR, go to Enigma instead. You won’t regret it.

Google
Food taste very good, complicated mixed of many taste. We think it’s inspired by both Western and Asian cuisine in every dish. Combination with pairing wine is great, so try it if you can drink 7+ glasses of wine and liquor. Service staff is very friendly and professional. They can explain ingredient in each dish and also recommend how to eat it. We are quite impressed as this is our first time trying 3-star Michelins restaurant. This really worth flying from Thailand to have this marvelous and spectacular experience.

Yelp
Overall: for my 100th review I decided to review the pinnacle of creativity, imagination, and gastronomy only found in the best of Michelin restaurants. Lasarte by Martin Berasategui hits all the notes of fine dining with ~13 ish courses of unthinkable combinations. Since the menu always changes I'll highlight what they do exceptionally well overall. Ambience/Decor/Service: I'll start off by mentioning that their accommodations for food preferences/allergies go above and beyond. They communicated very quickly over email about what they were gonna substitute and printed the different menu out when we arrived. As per usual the team of waiter/waitress sommelier and chef described the dishes down to every detail as if they were in charge themselves and were open to answering any questions on the process. While the restaurant was very simple fine dining decor wise, the artistic creativity in the food made up for it. Food: taste wise and quality wise it was everything you'd expect but what really stood out was just the creativity in the dishes. I can not even begin to describe it as my simple mind can not comprehend the 3 star gastronomy that they cooked in the kitchen. The blend of flavors and specifically the ordering of them. The texture from bubbly to crunchy/crispy to tender smoothness. Similarly, the way the plates were a very neutral white almost allows the chef to artistically create the pieces on a blank canvas. Lasarte hits on every possibility one could imagine in food.

Yelp
I visited back in June 2023. One of the best meals I've ever had, but my rating is addressing the customer service / response I received regarding a potential food poisoning concern at Lasarte. For 3 Michelin starred restaurants, I like to fast for at least 12-24 hours before the meal to save my appetite. We had a reservation on 6/2 for 1pm and ended at approximately 5pm - we both really enjoyed the experience as well as every dish. It was definitely one of our favorite Michelin star restaurant experiences, and we enjoyed meeting the chef and management team as well at the end. About 14 hours after the meal, I woke up at 2am with extreme nausea, vomiting, body aches, and bowel issues for the rest of the night. I had not eaten or drank anything besides water after dining at Lasarte due to our meal ending close to 5pm and us still being quite full the rest of the day. The symptoms went away after about 36 hours, but I unfortunately had to lie in bed for the rest of my time in Barcelona with terrible body aches and nausea, not being able to eat anything. I understand the risk of raw seafood, but this has never happened to me before. My partner did not experience anything at all so I do think it may have just been a one-off instance as I have a stronger stomach than he does. What I felt was disrespectful was that I wrote an email informing them that this happened shortly after I felt better, and the customer reception department at Lasarte wrote back that I did not have food poisoning and that this must be true because they "asked other guests" if they felt bad after the lunch. There is absolutely no way that they would have reached out to their guests asking how they felt after the lunch / if they had food poisoning. The response left me with a bitter feeling - I would have simply appreciated an acknowledgment that this incident may have occurred and that they would monitor this or keep an eye out, not an attempt at gaslighting me that I did not have food poisoning. Most of the courses consisted of raw seafood and it only takes one tiny bad oyster or something else to cause food poisoning. I would not have blamed it on Lasarte and would have seen it as simply a one off incident. Otherwise, this was one of my favorite meals - if it weren't for the response I received, I would have rated Lasarte a full 5 stars for sure.

Yelp
Even if you are a leading, Michelin starred restaurant in the city of Barcelona, arrogance should never be the leading trait anyone should use to describe your restaurant. Lasarte, bottom line, is disappointment. We came here for our honeymoon. We went with the tasting menu. Our wait staff requested drink orders and I requested a cocktail that contained tequila. She looked at me with judgement and disgust. Okay, a glass of wine it is. Went with the house recommendation. The courses came out. One of the courses was spilled on my shirt. Of course at a nice restaurant we dressed to the nines. While a waiter promptly came to our table and provided a cleaning aid, the mistake was otherwise overlooked and the management never followed up. Ironically, a wait staff made a mistake at a table adjacent to us to which the management showed up and provided a bottle of wine on the house. Let alone the Ambiance and appears of the restaurant is elevated. No matter who the guest, all guests should be treated the same, at least openly. Inconguent behavior and judgment of drink choices isn't how a several euro meal should be summarized. Would spend my well earned money somewhere else.

Yelp
Absolutely the most expensive meal I've had in my life, but I don't regret it one bit and it was worth it. My experience at Lasarte was truly a cut above the rest, and at those 3 Michelin star prices, I was expecting it to be! To be transparent with cost, it was about 330 euros per guest with the cava and spring water at the beginning of March 2023. The ambiance was very elegant and clean, with soft music playing and the waiters changing our cutlery and plates with every course. It was like a choreographed waltz and I kept saying "thank you" with every change because I was not used to this kind of service LOL. The menu we got to try was very seafood heavy which was a huge win in my book. Seafood is so pricey in the states so it made the meal feel way more worth it! We got glasses of cava to go with our meal and it was nice! I'm not a big wine person but I still enjoyed it. I'll attach photos of each dish and the menu to show rather than tell, but each dish was a marvel. Even the smallest components of the dishes were immaculately prepared and seasoned to perfection! The only dish I didn't love was the squid with egg yolk, but even then, that one was still pretty good. My friend and I were expecting to still be hungry afterwards but after FOURTEEN dishes and a round of fresh bread later, I was absolutely demolished. I don't think I've ever had a dining experience like Lasarte, and I look back on it so fondly. My first 3 Michelin star restaurant, and I had such a great experience!

Yelp
Made reservations at Lasarte Restaurant well in advance of our trip to Spain after comparing the menus of several three Michelin star restaurants. When the night came, we were excited. The service was impeccable. From the moment we walked through the door to the minute our coats and bags were handed back to us 4+ hours later, not a movement nor word was done or spoken out of place. Each dish was described meticulously and parts of service almost resembled a well choreographed dance. When it came to food, some dishes were absolute show stoppers while others left quite a bit to desire. My favorite of the night on this night's menu was actually not even listed! It was the starter featuring bruleed foie gras with a line of creamy onion sauce. It was velvety, creamy, and savory! A couple other standout dishes included the confit cod with a sour cream, mustard, and kale sauce and the squid tartare with egg yolk. The texture was playful and it was a very unique dish. Some other dishes really missed the mark for me including a seafood salad which was so briny, it was equivalent to licking the ocean. If the intent was to capture the sea, it went above and beyond but it was just an unpleasant flavor profile. The pigeon was also delivered blue. I know that pigeon and other game fowl are often cooked to just medium rare but this guy could probably fly if pieced together again. In all seriousness, $280 for the amount of dishes served with the service presented was very worth the experience.

Yelp
Imaginative almost surreal dishes delivered with military precision! Went as a family with teenage children. The staff were wonderful from the head through the waiters. The food was amazing, imaginative preparations of regionally sourced ingredients including the sublime Galician aged ox steak. The attention to detail and military cadence of delivery and clearance of dishes was a pleasure to behold. I asked for a Catalan wine and the bottle suggested was excellent. Would recommend unreservedly!

Yelp
Located only 15m from the crowds shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, the main dining area is sealed off from all that noise. Strangely, the spacious, modern design feels kind of dark, even with 4m ceilings and sunlight pouring in through a dozen light shafts. Wierd. The service is on the very formal side of fine dining, but the staff was personable, helping me with a few Catalonian nuances I did not understand. The food was excellent, especially the pickled oyster / hibiscus / shiso granita (sorbet) and the crustacean ravioli / burrata (cheese). Of course I'll return. 2023 05 11. M3.

Yelp
Lasarte is a fantastic restaurant located near a lot of high end shopping areas. The entrance is through a hotel, and once we got seated the service was incredible. This place gives you a lot of high end ingredients and for the price its very worth it. We got white truffle added to one of our dishes for 25 euros per plate and it was delicious. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to experience a 3 star Michelin for a decent price in Barcelona.

Marshall L.

Yelp
decor was definitely non 3 stars michelin it shares space with another restaurant in the hotel ground floor service i would consider acceptable but the food ar the premium cost was not up to par actually the starters that were presented before the prix fix dinner was better than the dinner into the 4 or 5th course the taste of dishes were interesting but not in a good way pretty to look at but i would skip them it was a let down for me personally
google avatar

Yelp
One of the most profound meals. The appetizer sequence literally brought tears to my eyes -the intricacy and the integration was, well, almost symphonic in its movement between the four part appetizer.

Yelp
Merda Santa (that's Catalan for Holy S*&t!), this place is phenomenal! It has very VERY well-deserved 3 stars from Michelin. The wow factor kicks in for the ambience, the food and the service. It ain't cheap but this sure ain't Applebee's, papi. The beautiful old exterior belies the ultra-modern interior with soft mood lighting. Every other corner is a different dramatic modernist vista, including looking down into the kitchen. The look and feel is a very elegant space ship. The food influences here are more Spanish than specifically Catalonian, but you really can't go wrong if you order anything involving olives, tomatoes or seafood, oranges too. I highly recommend the Tasting Menu to get a lot of different dishes in smaller quantities. They even customized it for two picky eaters and a sometime vegetarian. Service was so precise it was almost like very polite robots carefully orchestrated with perfect timing. One of my character flaws is always asking impertinent personal questions of the staff. These folks handle a nosey American with polite professional non-answers to intrusive questions, and then quickly get back to business. LOL, I can be VERY persistent. No one laughed at my bad John Wayne accent when I speak Spanish, nor at my partner's peculiar born-in-Miami-but-Cuban-dude accent. There was no"hey that isn't perfect Castillian Spanish" from these highly professional elegant folks. Even the mens room was incredibly beautiful. I recommend a trip to the loo even if nature doesn't call, and assume the ladies' room is equally stunningly designed. After dinner there are so many places nearby to step out for a drink. The neighborhood is also lively until very late at night, even by Spanish standards of take the kids out for dinner at midnight.

Yelp
Had dinner here the other night and enjoyed it. The menu was creative and the staff explained everything well. I also thought the wine pairing was thoughtful and worked well with each dish. We will definitley be back when friends visit us.

Yelp
I would highly suggest going elsewhere in Barcelona to eat. We came for lunch before heading on a cruise and made it clear in the reservation we needed to leave prior to 3pm. I asked the waiter to bring me either fish or beef for lunch because I have a dairy intolerance and did not know the ingredients of the food. The waiter brought me a beet risotto that was so salty I could not eat it. Apparently the chef insisted upon making this for me. They sent it back, but told me the ox would take a bit to cook. it took so long that my friend asked the staff to not bring it out as we had to leave shortly. the waiter ignored this and seemed very upset I wouldn't eat it since the chef took so much time to make it. They finally took it back, but shortly after brought out dessert. everything fell on deaf ears. They refused to listen when we said we had to leave and we're really rude to my friend as she was paying the bill. I was appalled at how we were treated. It honestly ruined the day especially since my friend was so excited to eat at the restaurant.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals we've ever had! We made reservation ahead of time and they were very accommodating on my food restrictions. They have different menu you can chose from and they also do a la carte. We opted for the Tasting Menu with some modifications for my menu since I'm pregnant and couldn't eat some of the raw foods listed in the tasting menu. Everything we had from beginning to end is AMAZING! Service was also great. We were so full after the meal. Lasarte definitely deserves the 3 Michelin stars! Highly recommended!

Yelp
This is a Michelin 3 star restaurant in Barcelona. The chef came out to say hi at this end! Very nice ambience! Food was amazing too! Highly recommended if you are travelling from US. The price is def cheaper than the 3 star restaurant in US.

Yelp
Not the first time at this beautiful restaurant, food always excellent , ambiance very cozy, the service is impeccable, every time I visit Barcelona it's a must to stop and have a dinner.

Yelp
The service here was outstanding. However, the food was not very memorable. The two best items were the lobster salad and the wagyu ravioli. Everything else was just ok. I have been to other 3 michilin star places and if you ask me everything I ate then I remember because it tasted so good. However, here l had to refer back to my menu to recall. The flavors just were not vivid enough. I might go back again for the experience and just try some a la cart items.

Yelp
Having gone through numerous Michelin-starred restaurants on my recent trip, I give LaSarte high praises. Other than the quality of their food, and compares to some other 3-starred Michelin restaurants, I found the staff incredibly attentive and the meal was served with great finesse. There were adequate number of staff with high professional calibre and I felt really pampered throughout the meal. Each course was unique in terms of presentation, texture, and flavor. Even the bathroom was furnished beautifully with my one of my favorite Jo Malone scented soap and lotion. There's something to be said about the sophistication of a restaurant and the details paid to finer things such their toiletries in the bathrooms which many other Michelin starred restaurants seem to be lacking I am impressed with LaSarte on various levels and I highly recommend LaSarte and can't wait to try other restaurants by Martin Berasategui.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
I would be surprised if Lasarte does not get their 3rd Michelin star soon. The entire experience from beginning to end was phenomenal. Staff is incredibly attentive, humble and helpful. There are two tasting menus. One is the chefs tasting and the other was the regular tasting. Regular tasting menu offers more dishes, which was the one we chose. Each course was prepared beautifully and tasted amazing. We elected for the $80 white truffle supplement. Smells more amazing than it tastes but that just comes with the experience. Loved everything about the meal.

Yelp
Best experience of my life. Service was beyond anything I've ever felt. Food was dreamy. It has been 5 years and I can't stop thinking about it.

Yelp
It is a splurge for certain. But this is one of the finest meals we've had. Service was perfect. The food was so fine and each dish was crafted in a super persnickety way. The petit fours at the end were awesome, too.

Yelp
A controversial 2017 Michelin 3* recipient by many accounts, Chef Martin Berasategui of the eponymous 3* restaurant in San Sebastian originally opening Lasarte in 2006 and holding two stars since 2009, it was for lunch on Thursday that a seat was taken in the space located on the ground floor of the Monument Hotel in Barcelona, the experience to follow every bit as refined as that at the flagship though the food itself was not quite its equal. Currently toqued by longtime Berasategui protégé Paolo Casagrande, a team of more than twenty in the kitchen serving a similar number of diners both Lunch and Dinner throughout the week from menus including two tastings and several a la carte selections, it was just as the clock struck 13h30 that guests were invited into the subdued space with textured wooden walls, thick linens and strings of lights poking through the ceiling. All hushed tones, "Yes sirs" and refinement, a very formal turn compared to the personality shown at Quique Dacosta or the whimsy of El Celler de Can Roca, it was shortly after settling into a soft leather banquet that the first of several staff members stopped by to discuss food and beverage choices as well as allergies and intolerances, a brisk glass of Marques de Gelida Gran Reserva Cava for €18 easily the best Sparkling tasted in Spain and a great pairing to four opening nibbles including the briny flavors of a Sea Anemone Beignet, Crayfish Toast, Soy Toast with Anchovy and a Beetroot Crisp with Caviar. Located in one of Barcelona's most expensive shopping areas, men and women on the streets outside all well dressed and carrying bags from the likes of Prada or Chanel, it was with mostly suited patrons that the restaurant began to fill just past 14h00, Berasategui's classic Mille-Feuille of Foie Gras with Smoked Eel and Green Apple next to arrive in two bites that were balanced and delicious while the day's amuse of Cucumber Mayonnaise and Licorice Sorbet with Green Pepper and Razor Clam Tartare was spicy and bold yet surprisingly good, as were the housemade Breads served with Olive Oil and five types of Butter. Considered by many to be a fairly distinctive Chef, Berasategui's focus on salinity and flavors of the Sea equally well suited to Barcelona as it is to San Sebastian, it was with the linger of lingering sweetness of Razor Clams still on the palate that the Menu officially kicked off with a lightly heated Oyster served alongside Watercress Ice and "Sea Mist" Foam, the juxtaposition of texture and temperature pleasant and a nice lead in to what would turn out to be the afternoon's best dish, Housemade Burrata served in three melting dollops alongside Tomato Ravioli filled with Shrimp plus the flavors of Celery and Apple. Following up with a Berasategui staple, the tribute to Bras' La Gargouillou falling a bit flat in terms of its Vegetables though the Lobster and herbal Cream were quite nice, it was after a substantial delay that a dish entitled "La Trufa" was presented, the description including Pigeon, Foie Gras and fermented Mushrooms creating an expectation of something rich unctuous while the flavor was actually fairly restrained, the bitterness of Collard Greens unfortunately the most prominent on the plate. At this point taking an odd turn, three thin slices of nicely marbled Beef presented with smoked Fish and a Granite not dissimilar to the flavor of Cheez-It Crackers, it was in follow-up that Chef Casagrande sent forth a lovely Tartare of Squid topped with a raw Egg Yolk, pickled Mustard Seeds and Citrus, the flavors all bold but blending well and leading nicely into an "Eat the Tail, Suck the Head" dish of Red Prawn served with flavors of the Ocean lightly perfumed in Licorice. Presenting the menu's penultimate savory as a thin filet of Sea Bream with tiny sections of King Crab, Tomatoes and Saffron, all of it fine but none of it particularly memorable, it was on the backdrop of another saline palate that the kitchen sent forth two slices of ruby-red Pigeon, the intensity of Capers and Olives thankfully reined in by the both smoke and Citrus though the later threatened to overwhelm at times, just as it did in a palate cleanser focusing on the refreshing combination of Shiso and Mint. Specifically requesting Coffee be served with Dessert rather than after, the server doing his best but unable to complete the tableside task before the kitchen sent forth the meal's final course, it was in another deconstructed dish centered on Ice Cream that several textures of Almond were plated along with the intense flavor of Apricot, all of it quite enjoyable including the smooth and boozy finish.

Yelp
The ambiance and food are nice but not over the top. While it is very good, I was expecting a bit more for three Michelin stars.

Yelp
Poor management by a very rude person Joan Ibanez Dined in many 3 star restaurants but never had this terrible experience. Food and service was excellent and it's the only reason I give 1 star. Otherwise, no stars at all. Large room separated by thin walls/ almost cubicles like look. I also asked Michelline guide to look into this. Hope it will help

Yelp
Excellent tasting menu. Love the bread cart and the assorted butter. Extraordinary service I guess for 3 stars Michelin and for the price they charged.

Yelp
Very much deserving of its Michelin two stars. Ordered the Tasting Menu with the recommended wine pairing and every taste was a grand adventure. Service excellent. Come here and enjoy the finer flavors in life.

Yelp
My friends went here a couple years ago and recommended this place for us to try. Luckily, by the time we went there, they had gone up 1 Michelin star! The food was mostly delicious, but the presentation was spectacular. I have found that oftentimes high-end restaurants tend to focus on the ingredients and presentation that they don't give much thought to the taste. At Lasarte, I've found that the food was as delicious as the presentation was beautiful. The strips of crisps and prawns served on a clear rock shaped bowl was such a good tease for what to come. If you've never had pigeon before I recommend you try some (in a restaurant, please don't go catching them yourselves). I'd say it's more mild in flavor than duck, less fatty, but oh so tender. The red prawn in a briny broth was phenomenal. Especially when you look closely at all of the ingredients that's in the broth. There were seaweed, "pearls", strips, and dollops of who knows what all brought such complexities to an otherwise simple dish. Aside from the exquisite dishes were the extraordinary service provided by the waitstaff, which I had 3! There were 2 ladies constantly working to clear our plates and silverware after each dish, and a gentleman who makes our drinks table-side. Be it a simple cocktail to a more elaborate non-alcoholic beverage, the ingredients and tools will be brought to your table via a cart and is assembled in front of you. The highlight of the evening was that I got to shake chef Martin Berasategui's hands at the end of the service. He came to each table to greet us diners and to shake our hands. I could actually pay my compliments to the chef directly, and I did! If you're visiting Spain, I would highly recommend that you pay a visit to Lasarte. Just make sure to make reservations several months in advance as they're booked every night.

Yelp
Wow. Not enough superlatives in the English language to properly or effectively give Restaurante Lasarte its worthy due (not sure about Spanish as I don't speak it). Best meal of my life, to date. This experience is making me update Jean Georges in NYC and drop it to 4 stars from my previous 5 star rating. After all, everything is relative and this 3 Michelin star destination was utterly amazing on every conceivable level. Food: 11/10 Service: 11/10 Decor: 11/10 The service here combined with the price (roughly half as much out the door all in) made me cringe at the minor blips in service at Jean Georges. Unfortunately, so many complimentary bites were served that i don't think i will be able to list them all, but i will try to with the pictures. We ordered the chocolate souffle for dessert - may have been too much as we were stuffed, but it was as delicious as one would expect. To top off the meal, they brought out the most amazing little display of sweet bites and a visit (appears customary!) from the head chef himself, Paolo Casagrande! Final tidbit to illustrate the epic level of quality to this fine dining experience: my wife and i ordered cocktails - our head waiter and the Som rolled over a similar little cart to the bread cart (that there are so many pics of in these reviews) and made them right in front of our table; sorry - no pic or video of them as i was trying not to be rude - you'll just have to order a cocktail here yourself to experience! I exclaimed to them how unreal this was - that we had eaten at so many excellent restaurants the world over and never seen this before - the Som quickly and effortlessly retorted in a subtle Spanish accent - "This is perfect service." Indeed.

Yelp
I planned my entire trip to Spain (from the US) around dining at Lasarte, and it did not disappoint. I opted for the 11 course standing menu, and each dish somehow surpassed the previous. My favorites were the citrus risotto w/ sea urchin, the dover sole fish, and the shiso and mint leaf sorbet. And I can't forget to shout out the bacon brioche bread with 5 types of butter! Customer service was just as exceptional--very attentive, but not so much that it feels intrusive. My meal concluded with some of the best handmade chocolates I have ever had, and a visit from the chef himself, Martín Berasategui!

Yelp
I had been looking forward to trying some of the many Michelin Rated restaurants while vacationing in Spain having tried most of them back home in the San Francisco Bay Area. At Lasarte the attention to detail in all the dishes was impressive. The quality and care the kitchen put into each dish was apparent. The many layers of balanced flavors danced around my palette. The staff, who all spoke English was very friendly and attentive. They were personable and knowledgable which made the experience that much better. I ordered the Tasting Menu which consisted of five amuse-bouches and eleven courses. There were a few courses that were average but most of the dishes were spectacular.

Yelp
Just a phenomenal restaurant - always worth a visit when I'm in Barcelona - service - food - wine all top tier

Yelp
Across the street from where I live in Barcelona. Service was good but staff was too stuck up for my taste. I was there with mi hermano y Sobrina. It was her special birthday. Food was over the top presentation was amazing. Every serving and yes 7 of them kept on coming for ever. Best experience ever. Wish the staff was more normal.

Yelp
Absolutely a memorable experience!! The food is amazing! The team very attentive and friendly. The gentleman who was taking care of us was very knowledgeable and friendly. He noticed I couldn't eat regular bread due to gluten intolerance and rapidly provided GF bread. And the food ??? Another chapter a part!! I didn't order the set menu because I wanted to try some options and they weren't combined in one menu and was perfect !! I am not into desserts but the one I had I would repeat every month. Thanks for such perfect dining experience !!!

Yelp
Lasarte deserves the reputation it has earned. Out of all of the meals we had in Barcelona, including two other very nice restaurants, Lasarte was the most flavorful. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Service is pristine and every step of service is precisely timed and coordinated. Their service model manages to attain a sense of interest and excitement, while also being relaxed, comfortable, and hidden. The plating of the food is beautiful. The kitchen was so clean you could have eaten off of the floors. Another nice rarity you don't always have with tasting menus is that we left completely full as well. Couldn't have muscled down another bite of anything. Excellent experience.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and did the Lasarte tasting menu. Every dish was solid. Presentation was excellent. The pigeon was especially good.

Yelp
Lasarte provides the dining experience of a lifetime. We chose the Tasting Menu. After a variety of appetizers, eleven courses were served plus petits-fours. Try to sample several of the breads - they are amazing. It's hard to pick a favorite when each course is so spectacular and so perfectly presented. If I had to choose, the risotto with sea urchin and the grilled pigeon were two standouts from the meal. Service was exactly the right level of attentiveness. It was a night to remember.

Yelp
We opted for the chefs tasting menu and sommeliers wine pairing. Service, food and ambiance was all excellent. Establishment is well deserving of all three Michelin stars. Even things I wouldn't typically enjoy, I loved in their dishes. If you're looking for perfectly balanced dishes and conversation pieces, please take the opportunity to visit Lasarte.

Yelp
What a treat! We ate at Lasarte last week, and I believe that it will earn a third Michelin Star soon. We ate at Eleven Madison Park in NYC last month, and at Ishikawa in Tokyo earlier this spring, and this is on that level. Three things to look for: 1) Aesthetics. The presentations are simply stunning, even more so than at EMP. A "salad" where each leaf has been carefully suspended in a base of tomato jelly; house made butters presented as a color palate that looks like a United Colors of Benetton ad; a hand blown dessert server that looks like an alien spaceship. It's creative but never over the top. 2) Flavor. The foie gras with green apple (in a sort of layer cake) was the best I've ever had. The beet risotto could've been bland but was exuberant. The lamb shoulder had a texture that I didn't know was achievable with lamb. The wine pairings were pitch perfect. 3) Service. They were extremely kind to us at every stage, but more importantly, I watched them handle a difficult table without missing a beat. The couple across from us sent 3 plates back, in each instance for a more absurd reason ("I just can't bear the thought of eating pigeon"). The wait staff stayed calm and collected, empathizing with the difficult customer and bringing alternative dishes quickly and cheerfully. There were some near misses - turbot that was too fishy and a prawn that was just a well-cooked prawn - but these were still good, and you're just not gonna love everything on a long tasting menu. We felt the overall experience and quality of food were certainly on par with the 3-star restaurants we've visited.

Yelp
Our Michelin experience in Barcelona. Holds two well-justified stars. The interior reminds me of Marea in NYC. Make sure your attire is elegant or you may feel out of place. The service was superb, not too stuffy. We had the tasting menu, although they let my daughter order a la carte which is unusual in a restaurant such as this. The highlights of the tasting menu was the lightly smoked oyster which is the best oyster dish I've ever had. The red prawn was memorable, as was the low-temperature cooked turbot. I also still think about the roast pigeon as well. The desserts were very good, not quite the level of the savory dishes but very good nonetheless. Worth the 135 euros. If money is no object I'd say Lasarte is the best in Barcelona, although Tickets is more fun, if that makes any sense. Very different styles, but both are excellent. When we go back to Barcelona will probably try their lunch menu which are all Martin Berasategui dishes (my son really wanted to try them) as well as going back for dinner.

Yelp
Amazing food. Unbelievable service. Perfect atmosphere. This is truly a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Nothing was disappointing. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have eaten there. If you can afford it, you won't regret.

Yelp
Lasarte is the real deal. I mean Beetroot butter? That's just cool. And that's coming from someone that doesn't even like butter on bread. Pigeon with crisp green apple, that worked. It's expensive, but hey it's step above everything else in the city so you get what you for.

Yelp
YES. I've had a few great meals in my life, this one just leapt to the top of the list. I was fortunate to get in with an impromptu call but it's worth scheduling an entire trip around! Second to none, and actually reasonable for the level of quality and service given. I may never get back, but the memory of those THREE Michelin Stars will keep me warm at night for a long time!

Yelp
Super amazing restaurant. Can't say enough good things about it. Probably one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. We had a team dinner here last night and it was fabulous. We had the tasting menu - every single dish was unique, perfectly cooked, beautifully plated and delicious. Service was flawless. Servers were awesome, and the chef personally came out to meet everyone. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back again.

Yelp
I've been pretty spoiled when it comes to fine dining and was happy to try Lasarte, but had no real expectation. Needless to say, I was truly impressed. The service was immaculate. They catered perfectly to my dietary restrictions (no diary and no pork, I know, I'm a pain). The dishes were creative and many of the flavor profiles were combinations that I had never had before. I'm usually disappointed by wine pairings, but Lasarte hit it out of the park. Just sit back and let them drive. What a treat!

Yelp
Visited a while ago, but compelled to write this as it's one of the best dining experiences in my life! Got the set meal which I usually do when going for the full experience of a particular fine dining establishment. Flawless. Expensive but well worth it. Service also impeccable. Lasarte deserves the 2 Michelin stars & then some, as compared to the other Barcelona 2 star restaurant, Enoteca. Like night & day... That place was hokey & some plates, actually barely edible!

Yelp
My husband and I always look for Michellin starred restaurants to dine at when we travel the country. Lasarte was such an amazing experience in Barcelona! The service from start to finish was top notch and the wine pairings were spectacular. We were a bit full at the end of our meal, but this was a 5 star experience.

Yelp
The food kept on coming! I wish I wrote this sooner so all the courses were fresh in my mind. Thankfully the restaurant gives you a menu so you can play along at your table. Went to Barcelona as part of our honeymoon and made the reservation well in advance. Staff was so knowledgeable and attentive. No language barrier to English at all! We both got the tasting menu and went with our waiter's recommendation on a bottle of red wine. It paired nicely with most of the food - and if it didn't, I was so obsessed with what I was eating that I didn't notice. Everything was beautifully presented, even the 5 different types of butter! I wish I could articulate the food better but the photos speak for themselves. Bottom line, if you're looking for an upscale dining experience with a touch of whimsy, this is the place.

Yelp
Undoubtedly one of the finest restaurants in Europe, Lasarte leaves nothing to chance. The atmosphere and service is what you would expect at a Michelin Three Star restaurant. The cuisine is impeccable. My wife and I took advantage of the tasting menu, which was, despite more than 10 dishes to taste, just the right amount of food. The preparation and presentation of each and every dish was exquisite, and the pace of the service was elegant and perfectly timed. We left the restaurant feeling as though we had just experienced a world-class ballet. Lasarte is the kind of magical place that will not only amaze you the first time you dine with them, but keep you coming back.

Yelp
Delicious and fun. We tried the tasting menu and wine pairing. It's a really nice restaurant, just like the other 3 stars restaurants.
