LaScala's Review - Old City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"La Scala’s was probably an upscale place at some point, but now it’s more of an Italian diner, with mirrored walls and TV’s that are usually playing whatever game is on. Their menu is pretty much what you would expect from a classic Italian place, and your best bet is sticking with the pizzas and pastas, which are all delightfully great. Use LaScala’s when you’re in the area and need a spot for a weeknight dinner, or when you’re wandering around Old City on a Sunday night looking for a place to watch the Eagles." - Sydney McElwee

I have gone to this location over the years every now and then. Our server Susi was pleasant. The place is kid friendly, with a kids menu. I went with the Calamari Fritti and Alicia’s Sunday Dinner, along with a kids pepperoni pizza. The meatballs were good and a lot of ricotta cheese comes with the bowl. LaScalas is only one block away from Independence Hall and a good spot to grab lunch or dinner if you are visiting. I’d recommend to others.

We were in Philly last yr and had to go back when were there last month. I’m Italian from Queens NY and don’t usually eat at Italian restaurants. The food here was so authentic and fresh. The server Sergio was so helpful and the bartender was super sweet. We actually brought family back the following day for pizza which was also pretty amazing.

We came to LaScala’s on a Thursday night with a large group while in Philly for a conference. We were helped by Nick who was outstanding. He was very attentive. He kept updating us throughout our dinner on things that were coming out and when things were delayed, let us know. I am gluten intolerant and asked Nick for help on the menu. He informed me all sauces are made fresh, in house so anything with a sauce could have gluten containing ingredients just not put in or replaced. They also offered gluten free pasta! He was very knowledgeable of what would be safe for me. I got the spicy chicken cutlet rigatoni which had burrata, a vodka sauce, and Mike’s Hot Honey with grilled chicken and gluten free sauce. It was DELICIOUS! My friend got the non-gluten free version and felt it was alright, not outstanding. We ordered drinks; three of us got espresso martinis. I thought it was delicious as it was bold and strong but if that is not how you like it, I recommend adding Bailey’s or going for another drink. The other pictured foods are those of my colleagues: gnocchi, lemon crab and shrimp over linguini, and a LaScala chopped salad. All said their dishes were very good! All around we had a great experience and Nick provided outstanding service for our large group!

Absolutely love this place! I used to go to the one at Rowan during undergrad, so visiting the Philly location brought back so many great memories. It’s truly one of my favorite restaurants—the vibes are always on point, and the food is even better. Highly recommend the chicken parm with vodka sauce… it’s a must! If you haven’t been yet, go!

I don’t like to brag about food I’ve eaten, but I can’t help it here! The atmosphere is modern but cozy. It’s in a very busy part of Center City and if you get a table by the window, it’s great people watching while eating some delicious food. The decor is modern but it’s dimly lit so it gives you a warm and cozy feeling at night, which pairs nicely with the delicious dishes. I went with a large group and everyone got something different and when they all came out, I wanted to try a bite of every dish at the table. The service was fantastic, everything came out evenly paced, and the food was fire! Highly recommend if you’re looking for some delicious Italian food.

The wild mushroom truffle pizza was one of my favorites I've ever had. Also ordered a delicious beet salad and the Love city Lager. Really enjoyed the meal and shared both dishes with my colleague. The restaurant is family friendly and has a classy feel. Our server Madison was super attentive and made excellent recommendations. I just loved the energy of the restaurant and the food was really good. I would definitely come back as I want to try the fig smoked prosciutto pizza next time. They had a great selection of local and regional beer. I wish I had a bigger appetite to try their desserts which also looked amazing. Definitely coming back next time I'm in Philly. It's walking distance from Liberty Bell, great spot!

Stopped here on a Sunday before a show at walnut street theatre. Was cold out so we popped our head in for recluse from the weather and hungry bellies. We got the vodka pizza and chicken Marsala. Nothing special about any of it…and it wasn’t bad either. We cleaned our plates while we enjoyed some 2000’s pop music. The bathrooms are high end with private stalls. Everything is clean and service was fine. We waited for about 10 min for our food which was quite impressive. Would not come back unless really had to. It’s a safe place to stop for picky eaters.

We were at an air bnb in philly for the weekend for a convention and this pizza place was perfect. Quick delivery. All the food was very fresh. The meatballs were huge, We also got the mild Buffalo wings, so good very flavorful. The pizza was very good aswell. I even had a slice for breakfast. Lol. Would definitely order from here again when staying in philly.

Yelp
Great restaurant for any day. The place is beautiful and clean and the service was swift with very friendly servers. Ours was Ibrahim, who was extremely professional and a great conversationalist. The food was amazing and will definitely be going back. Food aside, but a good server will keep customers coming back!

Yelp
Stopped in around 6:30 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Philly at Independence Park. Place was reasonably crowded but waited about 3 minutes for a cleaned table. Hostess acknowledged us and several behind us right away, a nice touch. Surprisingly not noisy in this place compared to the one in Sagemore Mall. Our server was very attentive and even asked if we wanted our dishes to be served together, which we did. They have a policy of serving your food as it is cooked which is very annoying. Nice to have a choice. My lemon crab and shrimp over linguini was delicious and a generous portion. Partner enjoyed her dish too, a panini. Nice selection of beers. This place has one distinct advantage over the others in the area, it is clean and neat, even the restroom sparkles. We paid cash to save on the surcharge. We have been here several times and not disappointed.

Yelp
I went to LaScala's Fire with a couple of friends for an early dinner. Walking in the restaurant has a nice casual, but classy feel. There is a bar and plenty of overhead TVs showing sports, but the restaurant is well-lit, clean and has a nice ambiance. I ordered the tortellini for dinner. It was served in a cream sauce. I would say it was not the best tortellini that I have ever had, but it was still tasty and filling. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their food as well. Our waiter was kind and served the table quickly. He answered all of our questions, as well. Altogether, I would recommend LaScala's Fire if you are looking for a casual and tasty Italian meal in Philadelphia.

Yelp
The environment and vibe of the restaurant is nice. Service was top notch! We sat at a booth with a window view. For starters I had the Meatball Trio and my girlfriend had the Tuscan Wings. They were delicious and I recommend them. The drink that I had was Best Friend's Margarita. It was nasty. I returned it and ordered Bird Is The Word. That drink was . My girl had the Chicken Parmigiano pizza and I had the Chicken San Remo. The food was delicious! I recommend this location. You'll enjoy yourself

Yelp
Found this place on the internet and have to say that the place is stylish, not too loud. You can choose where you want to sit. The waitress was very attentive. The food came very warm and in a time of may be 5 minutes we had all 4 dishes. Below please see the rating for our dishes - all dishes were nicely prepared and a very good size: Alicia's Sunday dinner (4/5) - was ready good, but just had it better in Auckland, that's why 4 Stars; Vegetarian Red Sauce Pizza (5/5) - very tasty with a variety of vegetables. Tasty dough! Lemon crab and shrimp (5/5) - Very tasty sauce, a lot of shrimp and crab; Pasta and Peas (4/5) - was too spicy, but otherwise very good; Average food rating (4.5/5) I will definitely come again when I am in town.

Yelp
I'd heard this place many times before but never been. So I decided to give it a try when my parents came to the city to visit. Ended up being a really good option for a Friday night dinner. I made a reservation to be on the safe side, so we were seated immediately when we arrived. The hostesses and our waitress were all very friendly, polite and service oriented. The vibe was pretty nice with the white tables, darker grey booths and mood lighting based on what part of the restaurant you're in. And the place is very clean, including the bathrooms (always a real test on the cleanliness for me is how the bathroom looks). We all enjoyed our dining experience, from the service of our waiter to the actual look, portion size and taste of the food. We ordered a few things to share: Calamari Fritti, Sicilian Salad (no pepperoni) and the Three Cheese Piatta Bread. Those were great portions for sharing and honestly kind of filling. We each ordered entrees: mom got the Grilled Salmon, dad ordered the Chicken Marsala and I ordered the Rigatoni Vodka with Crab & Shrimp added in (no pancetta). My dish was delicious! Very rich but not too rich, tasty and very large portions again - I took most of it home. Though we were all full, we couldn't leave without dessert lol. So my dad got an espresso, while my mom & I split the Triple Chocolate Cake. It was sooo decadent and rich, but good. I'm not sure if I would've been able to eat by myself given all we ate before that, so I'm glad we split it. Overall, a really great experience and good food and reasonable prices. My parents enjoyed it and I would definitely go back again. Give it a try!

Yelp
In the words of the awesome Clint Eastwood, let's talk about the good, the bad and the ugly. The Bad: the service is horrible. Food comes out at different speeds, appetizers one at a time, entrees before the salads, and one pizza 30 minutes after all the other food and when we were almost done. The drink refills are so slow and it was rare that our waitress came to check on us. The bus boys reached in between us while we were eating to grab dirty plates and before I even had the time to wipe off my extra sauce with my bread! The Ugly: most of the patrons were seated in a central section which made it feel cramped. The music was so loud it was hard for us talk. Food was served without serving utensils and some cold. The dirty plates were removed faster than Houdini can say Abra Cadabra and were not replaced for the next course. The prices were high for what we all thought it was worth. The restaurant offers free parking in the lot above. When we asked to validate our ticket our waitress said we didn't need to get it validated as it was Sunday. Thank goodness I insisted because you absolutely have to have it validated or you will pay a hefty price to park. Our waitress spent a lot of the time on her cell phone so maybe she was just distracted...wonderful! (said sarcastically). The Good: Food was decent to very good. We ordered wild Mushroom Arancini, Crispy Parmigiano Artichokes, Four Cheese Max and Cheese, Caesar Salad, Three Cheese Piatta, Rigatoni Vodka, Eggplant Parmigiano, Burrata Pizza, Vegetarian Pie, Grandmas Pie, Limoncello Cake, LaScala Sundae and Lemon Sorbet. All and all I'd order each of these dishes again. The Max and Cheese was a standout as was the Rigatoni Vodka. The artichokes a bit sweet and my table had mixed feelings about the Arancini-some liked it, others thought it not cheesy enough. The pizzas were good. The best ever? Nah, but still good. The Caesar salad was mixed well with a dressing that had a slight anchovy flavoring. The eggplant was good, the linguini that it came with was awesome and if I ever returned here I would get a separate plate as a stand alone! The desserts were fair. Not impressive, a bit small but it did quench our sweet tooth from the carb load up we just had. All in all I loved my company and the food was good. Rushing back here, nope, but if I ended up here I wouldn't be devastated.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant! Picked this place for dinner because it had good reviews and I am so glad I did! The restaurant has a very nice, clean, modern interior with a bar. All the staff that I interacted with was very kind and helpful. They have a great size menu with plenty of options and variety. I ordered the angel hair pasta with lobster and it was delicious!! My friend got the prosciutto and fig pizza and really enjoyed it as well. They also had amazing cocktails! Within walking distance of a lot of tourist destinations around the area.

Yelp
Another amazing dinner in Philly! My sister and I popped into this cute vintage restaurant near closing but we were seated and our server took amazing care of us. We started with the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, a staple. These were to die for! Dinner was delicious, you can never go wrong with Vodka sauce. Finished the night with an espresso martini were was the perfect finale of a great dinner!

My family and I ate here after visiting Independence Hall etc. nearby. I couldn't fault it, the food was tasty and reasonably priced plus the service was spot on.

Yelp
I am honestly surprised that this restaurant doesn't have a higher rating. After visiting D'Antonio and Klein on Jewelers' Row, we grabbed a late lunch at LaScala. The jewelers were raving about it so we couldn't resist trying it out. They recommended the Ricotta Board which was a perfect suggestion since we usually order ricotta if it's a menu option. But this ricotta absolutely blew us away! The piadina bread was perfectly made and tasted so good dipped in the honey-soaked ricotta. I ordered the Lavender Martini since I love anything lavender and usually order it if it's on the menu. I don't normally like martinis but gave this a go and was not disappointed. The server did give me a heads up that it is made with real lavender syrup, but I actually prefer that since it's not as sweet. We shared the Classic Caesar with chicken and the Angel Hair pasta with Crab. Both were delicious and definitely enough to share. We even had some to take home which made for great leftovers. Our server was delightful and super friendly. We look forward to coming back and recommending LaScala's Fire to everyone we know!

Yelp
This is the famous cheese steak roll all of my coworkers spend $16 on. They've been bragging about these roll for at least 3 months. I decided to take my last $20 to see what's the hype about, I love a good cheese steak roll. When I opened up the container, this is what I saw. There was 2 but this was the prettiest at the party! It was burnt, hard and no flavor. The coworkers who brag all the time was even disappointed for me. There's we're burnt too but for $16 , charcoal it is ! You only get one time to make a 1st impression, this failed ! Never buying this again but the cheese sauce at the bottom was tasty but it couldn't save the roll. Waisted money and lunch break !!!!!!!!

Yelp
After visiting The Liberty Bell on our weekend trip to Philadelphia, we went to eat at LaScala's because we were hungry, hadn't eaten all day and we were right down the street from that location. We were in the mood for a hot plate of pasta. We started with drinks. I had a Lavender lemon Martini that was a bit too sweet but good. For the appetizer, we ordered the Crispy Parmigiano Artichokes. I ordered the Crab and Shrimp Linguini and my husband had the Chicken Parm. The food was somewhat mediocre. The artichokes were good but it has a taste of moldy cheese so I am not sure if the cheese was not good or something else. My entree was not that bad. It was ok but had too much sauce. However my husband's Chicken Parm was terrible. It had no taste and the chicken was chewy. He had about three bites and couldn't even finish it. We still ordered dessert. The bread pudding was nice and warm but a bit rubbery. The Zeppoles were stale and hard to chew. The reason I gave them 3 stars is because they were nice enough to waive the price of the Chicken Parm and one of desserts. Our waiter was very pleasant and apologized for the tasteless entrée my husband ordered.

Yelp
The LaScala looks like a upscale restaurant but I had a few issues with it. We ordered stuff artichokes and it was really the best I ever had. They literally melted in your mouth. My husband had lasagna which he enjoy. I had the chicken piccata which was also delicious. My daughter had the meatball sandwich and did not like it. It was very dry and she took 2 bites and was done with it. We also ordered a side of their homemade bread was delicious too. My issue was with the waiter service. She was very nice. I had to ask her twice to clear the dishes and then she literally took one plate at a time in between serving other people. So while waiting for our dessert our table was dirty from dinner. Which bothered me especially when a restaurant is supposed to be upscale. The other thing I witnessed was a party of 12 came in and wanted to eat outside. There were plenty of empty tables outside but they were told they couldn't put tables together outside. So while the food was good but pricey I probably wont be going there again.

Yelp
As a college student in the area, this is my favorite place to go with friends and family for dinner. Pretty much everything is under $20 and portions are huge. I can't speak for the pizzas but the pastas are delicious. It can be loud as it's right in the middle of university city and attracts lots of college kids, but the food is so delicious! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Was planning a trip to Philly and was staying in the historic district gearing up for the Penn Relays with a mix of students, parents and coaches. Was looking for a good restuarnt within walking distance from our hotel and a good friend recommended LaScala's Fire. A few weeks before our arrival, I called to see if I could reserve a table for ten on a Friday evening and my request was fullfilled. I beleive I spoke to Sara so just wanted say thanks for assisting me with our reservation. I will say the area around this location is filled with history. When we arrived in Philly, the forecast for the weekend was not looking good with rain most of the weekend. With a small window of no rain, I was able to walk around the area and see some incredible sights. Definitely worth exploring the area before dinner to work up an appetite or taking a leisurely stroll after dinner to work off a tasty dinner. Fast forward to the evening of our dinner and we were faced with a wind swept rain. While our plan was to walk, this was clearly not an option. When I called to inquire about parking, was pleased there was a parking garage in the same building as thr restaurant. The icing on the cake was they even validated parking . Once there, we walked from our cars to the restaurant without even having to get wet which was a big win. We arrived on time and our group was seated right away. The menu was vast and had many great choices to choose from. To start, we ordered some apparizers which we split. We ordered the Ricotta Board (Ricotta, Honey, Wood-Fired Piadina Bread), Wild Mushroo. Arancini (Homemade Rice Balls with Wild Mushroom & Cheese) and the Calamari Fritti (Fresh Calamari Battered & Fried in Rice Flour). All the appatizers were amazing and my favorite was the Calamari but the Ricotta Board was also a big hit as well with all the appatizers being devoured. For dinner, everyone in the group found a tasty meal, and after taking with everyone, all the meals were delicious. I had the Seafood Fra Diavalo (Shrimp, Calamari, Mussels, Clams, Crabmeat, Spicy Tomato Sauce, Linguini) and will said it was priced right and was a delicious meal. Some of the other meals ordered by thr group was the Chicken Milamese (Cutlet topped with Arugula, Fresh Mozzarella, Cherry Tomatoes, Balsamic Glaze), Eggplant Parmigoano(Seasoned Breaded Eggplant, Our Famous Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Linguini), and the Vegetrian Wood Fire Pizza )Grilled Zucchini, Grilled Eggplant, Roasted Peppers, Mushrooms, Baby Spinach, Mozzarella, White or Red) to name just a few of the dishes. Always enjoy when restaurants have vegertain meals that my daughter enjoys and this was on of those places that left us both satisfied. All in all, this place has it all, a great location, convient parking, lots of history surrounding it, a nice dinning area, great food and drink, and of course great service. I was glad this place came recommended and my fellow dining guests were just as satisfied.

Yelp
I've heard good things about Lascala's while in the city decided to just walk there from another location we were at. We made reservations just in case but when we walked in, it didn't appear to be packed. We were greeted and seated and immediately approached by our server, who was helpful and very polite. Our drinks were tasty and a good pour. We ordered fries, which were crunchy and nice and hot. Both pasta dishes weee good but could've used more seasoning/salt. I really had my mouth set on ordering pizza, but next time. Portion sizes were decent. Although I didn't drive, there actually happened to be meter parking available.

Yelp
Decided to try out this spot since its restaurant week here in philly and catch up with a and old friend in the city. we found this spot and it didn't disappoint. we ended not going with the restaurant week menu since what we really wanted try wasn't on that menu and went with their regular dinner menu I tried the lemon crab and shrimp over linguini with a white wine sauce and had their tiramisu for dessert. My friend tried theirs baked lasagna and their cannoli and we both enjoyed our dishes. our server was really kind and attentive and we'll probably be back or try out their pizza selections!

Yelp
Really good Italian food. Came in here for an early dinner and everything was awesome. The space had a nice upscale feel to it and was very spacious and clean. The server informed us that the serving sizes are much bigger than most people would expect and that they're big enough to share. So we took his word for it and decided to get one entree and one appetizer to share. We ordered some basic dishes: Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti and Loaded Fries. He was right, the portions were humongous. We got some smaller plates and ate the food family style. The chicken parm was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of cheese topping the fried chicken. The loaded fries had cheese, truffle oil, peppers, and bacon. Both dishes were very good and would highly recommend them. The portion sizes are definitely a standout trait to me. I'm a pretty heavy eater and shared the food with somebody. Even I had to box up about half of both dishes to take home. I consider that a good thing in case that wasn't obvious. Would definitely recommend La Scala's for anybody looking for Italian food, big portion sizes, and just a nice place to eat in the city.

Yelp
This place is the worst pizza place in Philly I ever had... Pizza was too dry and the crust was just no flavor; chicken wings were also super dry! The front desk person was rude as well. Really not worth your money to even try out this place. The only think I like about here was their interior design, which made me to choose this place to try their food, but I immediately regret my choice! Don't get fooled by their fancy looking wood fire oven to bake their pizza!

Yelp
A fine place to get Italian food in Philadelphia! I had the lasagne, which was excellent. The wait staff was friendly, and there's ample seating inside the restaurant. You usually won't need a reservation for lunch, although you might want to make one for dinner. All in all, a fine dining experience.

Claire V.

Yelp
Classic American-Italian restaurant. Service is nice and food is decent. The portions really big so pay attention when you order. I would have known upfront, I would not have order a starter.

Yelp
We loved everything we ordered. The restaurant week prix fixed menu for $45 had great selections (1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert). Eggplant parmesan, chicken parmesan, chopped salad, grilled salmon, 2 side salads, tiramisu, and cannoli between the two of us. The food was piping hot, and the service was outstanding. Plates were constantly being cleared, and Kevin, our server, was attentive and very pleasant. We had a great high-top table overlooking 7th Street, which took us out of the louder part of the restaurant. Would definitely return. Also loved that the restaurant comped the parking at the garage on 7th between Ranstead and Chestnut - just ask server for parking pass to save $15 (can enter on Ranstead or Chestnut, address is 615 Chestnut St just like the restaurant).

The rigatoni vodka was very good but nothing compares to the pizza. Best I've ever had, hands down.

Yelp
I love this place. It just opened at this location a little over a week ago. The food is great and the staff was very accommodating. Our waiter was actually the Manager and he came and spoke with us multiple times. We first went on the day it opened and we were just back 3 days ago. The LaScala fries are the best!!!

Yelp
The food was so yummy and arrived quickly after we ordered it. The staff were amazing! Will return ASAP :)

Yelp
My husband picked LaScala's for walking distance convenience from our hotel. We made a reservation, just to be safe, but got there early and they seated us immediately. We got the Burrata board to start, nice but small selection of local craft brews. I had the spinach and goat cheese salad, and my husband had the beet salad. They were HUGE, so if you want a salad before your entree, just be forewarned. We decided on the Meatlovers Piatta to share, and I'm very glad we didn't get individual ones. That would have been too much to bring back to the hotel. Service was excellent - our server was fast and attentive. The food was great, but I should have just gotten the salad with some steak or chicken on it and bypassed the Piatta. (better for my carbs, tbh). My only complaint with this establishment is the noise level. We were put into the large room where two very large parties were having their festivus. I really wish they had put us on the other side, with the individual booths. One party was quiet and polite, we could hear them laughing a little but no conversation. The other party was a 30th birthday party, and wow. Were they loud. Close to 20 people, getting progressively more into their celebration and the inside voice factor disappeared. We would have stayed for another round of beers, or dessert, but we had to get out of there. We couldn't hear each other 2 ft from each other's faces. Acoustic baffles, panels, something across the ceiling - good grief please and yes. There's no reason for a space like this to be as loud as a rock concert. If you go, enjoy, and ask if you can sit to the left closer to the street corner, or at least look and see how many people are set up for the big room. Enjoy!

Yelp
We went for Restaurant week as a party of 11. Our server, Hayley, was very sweet and accommodating as some of our group arrived later. Food was delicious. Some of us ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and some from the regular menu which can make things more challenging. Everyone enjoyed their food. Usually in a group this large, someone isn't as happy with their order, but no one had complaints. Each course was brought out timely but not hurriedly, so we were able to enjoy our meal. The only delay was at the end because they were brewing a fresh pot of coffee; personally, I'd rather have fresh coffee. The free parking was a nice extra. We will be returning to dine at this restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing service and experience! Our server Nick has always been so kind, professional, and on top of it every time I have visited. The food is A1, and arrives in a very timely manner. Drinks are honestly priced. Overall great spot.

Yelp
Beautiful Italian restaurant with affordable prices and high quality food. Every dish we ordered was exceptional, from the cocktails to dessert. Our server (Sergio) took care of us, was patient and very helpful with explaining menu options and making recommendations. The table devoured the ricotta board which was whipped ricotta and honey paired with soft and chewy bread. I enjoy floral flavors and loved every sip of my Lavendar Martini (tito's + lavendar + lime cordial). We ended up sharing the tiramisu and banana bread pudding, which were just alright. The only thing I will advise is to not make serious plans for after dining here because we left happy, full, and bloated!

Yelp
LaScala's Fire was very delicious! The atmosphere was great, the waitress was. Wet knowledgeable of the menu and addressed all of our questions. The bolognese was excellent! Also had the 7th St. Old Fashion which was on point!

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch. Fabulous wild mushroom pizza. Sooo good. Say at the bar with the pizza oven across the aisle behind me. I had to take a picture. The crust on the pizza was excellent. I haven't eaten here since their remodel for Covid reasons. Place looks great. The remodel opened up the space which adds to the appeal. Lunch was enjoyable. Our waitress was great to talk to and good at her job.

Yelp
*HH post* My girls and I didn't want to wait 2 hrs for the independence beer garden so we decided to do happy hour at this place. We only got drinks and one app. But it was a very pleasant experience. The service was great, the decor inside was modern and clean. We got several cocktails which we all loved (lavender martini, rose sangria etc) and the portbello mushroom with chunks of crab was good because of the chunks of crab but the mushroom part was okay. I'm curious to see next time how the actual meals are here! Next time I'm def. Getting a pizza or entree to try.

Yelp
Popped in her after Sips and it was good! The calamari & cheesesteak egg rolls were great. Although I thought 2 egg rolls for $14 was a little steep. We ordered Grandma's pie - the sauce was a little bland but still good! Quick service & good drinks as well with a wide selection.

Yelp
My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place!! We have been going for years, pre & post remodel. The artichokes are amazing, I love both types of the arancini and my husband always gets the pizza and enjoys it. The drinks are always good. We have probably been here close to 35 times and have only had one or two times in which the food was made incorrectly.

Yelp
We were blown away by this upscale pizza place! The atmosphere is really cute with old Italian pictures on the walls and modern hanging lamps. We did their restaurant week menu because the options were incredible. Food came out in huge portions, super hot and flavorful. My salmon was THICK with a wood-fired flavor. They gave me a ton of beautifully sautéed spinach and crispy potatoes. Definitely recommend La Scala's for a less expensive/casual but awesome night out. Will definitely be coming back soon for their happy hour and regular menu!

Yelp
We had high hopes for this place based off the appetizer we had. The Shrimp Pompeii was amazing! It had so much flavor, we couldn't get enough of it! Sadly, our dining experience went downhill from there. Both of our entrees lacked flavor. It was basically bland. The overall ambiance was cute, but it's a no for the food! Our server was friendly!

Yelp
I attended an office Christmas party, on Dec. 14, 2022, and the food was served family style. While the food was good, it was way overpriced at $52 per person for lunch. We were served salad, ravioli, chicken marsala and salmon. The dessert was disappointing-only miniature cannoli. The "non-alcoholic beverage" was water! In addition, the restaurant was not decorated for Christmas and had no ambiance. Also, the server did not come around asking if "seconds" were needed. A far better selection would have been Maggiano's.

Yelp
Boy, am I full! I didn't even eat any of the Italian Wedding Soup I ordered as I was just stuffed. My coworker and I came here after the new grand "reopening." LaScala's Fire has been open about a week and used to just be LaScala's. In these COVID-19 times, we were upset when they closed thinking it was for good. Thank God it wasn't! LaScala's Fire has a very easy to use online ordering website and I used it without any difficulties to place a pick-up order. I love how with certain items they move into sub-menus for extra add-ons or take-aways. The price adjusts accordingly for the add-ons. After placing your order, they give you a time it should be ready and it was! The Alicia's salad was nothing much in way of the salad itself. Greens, chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, but I added some calamari which upped the game, and the dressing they kept to the side. However, the gigantic sphere of a meatball with a huge amount of ricotta and red sauce was almost a meal in itself. Perfectly cooked with an almost crispy outer rim, juicy inside and so much flavor. Mixed with the ricotta was perfect. I was not the biggest fan of the red sauce, but everyone has their preferences. The fried calamari came back to work a little on the soggy side, and they were too salty for me. Next time I'll try at the restaurant itself and I bet they'll be better. Most of that came home for someone else in the family to enjoy. Lastly, dessert was so decadent. The zeppoles were perfectly fried dough balls in powdered sugar with an outstanding cannoli cream over them. Then, to somehow make them even better, a raspberry dipping sauce. OMG. My coworker really liked her chicken Caesar salad that she added bacon to. Couldn't finish it but did chow down on the nice grilled chicken. Had to save room for the zeppoles! LaScala's Fire also looked awesome inside in gleaming white and has plenty of seating. The staff were using all COVID-19 precautions. We inquired about a luncheon and they said they are taking things day by day as the rules seem to change by the second in Philadelphia. However, they can accommodate. The online ordering menu allows for a tip to be added, and you pay with credit. $67 for everything including tax and tip - 2 salads, soup, calamari, and zeppoles! I'll definitely be back to try the pizzas, paninis, Stromboli, calzone, some other starters, and their favorites. Really, one of everything, please, extra meatballs.

Yelp
The Chef should be FIRED at LaScala's Fire. Horrible food in addition to the excessive noise levels. I couldn't hear my husband from across the table. There is nothing good to say about our experience. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and music. Excellent service from our server Sarah. Killer cocktails and anything from Alicia on the menu should be ordered. Definitely going back again. Thanks

Yelp
Chicken Parm was over cooked. 3 in my party had this dish and all burned... Also 3 Margherita pizzas ordered as well and 2 came out 5-7 minutes after the Chicken Parmigiana. The 3rd pizza took an additional 5 minutes to reach our table. Waiter was nice.... Atmosphere was appeasing and got lucky with on street parking..

Yelp
A friend recommended this place, so a few friends and I went. One positive note right off the bat is that despite the fact that we were a very large group (11 people) and that it was Saturday night , we were able to be seated immediately. We were actually able to call in about 30 minutes beforehand no problem. They sat us outside, and it was cold, but it wasn't much of a problem because they had outdoor heaters that kept us going. The food itself was alright, but I think the more important thing was the portion size. I ordered a calzone (and accidentally demolished it before taking a picture), but I had some extra to eat later. Everyone at the tables seemed pretty full, and despite the fact that we ordered for a ton of people and everyone got drinks, everything only came out to ~30-something dollars per person. Not a bad deal at all!
