30 Essential Restaurants to Know in Birmingham, Alabama

"After years of wholesale and pastry boxes, Chanah Willis’ Last Call Baking opened a permanent location in late 2022. The setup is simple and lets the French and Japanese-inspired pastries do the talking: Last Call’s rotating selection features items like fennel sugar-dusted morning buns, croissant loaves, persimmon jam danishes, and miso coffee cake. They’ve sold out every day since opening, so come early to get a good spot in line. If you prefer to sleep in, you can also find Last Call at coffee shops, including June, Punch Love Coffee, Domestique, and Daily Edition." - Sarra Sedghi

Today was my first visit — and definitely not my last. I’m still dreaming about that gochujang twist and the ham & cheese croissant… but honestly, everything I tried was incredible. Pro tip: get there early! They opened at 8, and by 8:10 the line was already long. We waited about an hour, but it was absolutely worth every minute.

Exquisite baked goods served by wonderful staff. Get there early or order ahead, because they take a sustainable approach to their preparation and creation - when it’s gone, it’s gone and that’s it for the day. We tried the breakfast cookie, ham and cheese croissant, Korean spiced twist and the lemon twist. All absolutely delicious, so whether you want sweet or savoury, this place has something tasty for you. Last Call also supply coffee shops across Birmingham, so you may have already enjoyed their goods without even knowing. Recommended and a firm favourite.

Really sad that the owner is going to be selling this place. I hope everything stays the same. This place, definitely lives up to the hype. I was really taking it back at how complex the flavors were some of the bakery items look unassuming, but after taking a bite, I was just really in heaven.

Excellent pastries! I came late in the morning so they were running a little low, but I got the raspberry jam Danish and my friend got the gochujang twist -- both were excellent! The pastry was so buttery and flaky, and I loved how the jam was nice and tart. Can't wait to come back!

I’ve only experienced Last Call Bakery through June Coffee next door, but every time we do—it’s a win. They always have updated, seasonal pastries that are so good. My whole family still talks about them from all the way in Mississippi. Definitely worth a stop. You won’t regret it.

Last Call Baking Company is a very authentic and quality experience when it comes to baked goods that are cooked with love. A flakey and flavorful Chocolate Croissant, and divine and hearty Chocolate Cinnamon Roll, and a classic yet elevated Cookie. Going there to get bulk baking goods is gonna cost a pretty penny, but it's money well spent if you're one who enjoys good quality food. The people inside are kind and very involved, you can tell they enjoy their work and it shows in their food. Definitely a good place to visit if you haven't.

This place is amazing! The morning bun is most likely the best breakfast pastry I have ever had. The cappuccino next door is fantastic too!

The entire experience was great! All the way from the lady taking the order to the last bite of the berry danish! If you’re in Bham this is a must stop! Also, the lemon bar looked delicious, which I’m saving for next visit! 😋
