"Latin American Grill, a mainstay in Miami Lakes for nearly three decades, is set to reopen after a nearly two-year hiatus caused by a kitchen fire. The restaurant, located at 15342 NW 79th Court in the Park Centre Shops, underwent a $1.4 million renovation during the closure. The renovations include new flooring, light-colored subway tiles contrasted with decorative patterned tiles, and dark, distressed wood trim throughout the dining room. The addition of new double windows at the 'ventanita' will streamline Cuban coffee and to-go orders. The restaurant also boasts outdoor seating on a patio lit by modern European lighting and framed by new planters. Latin American Grill is known for its extensive menu featuring Cuban staples such as sandwiches, ropa vieja (shredded beef), churrasco, chicken soup, Pechuga de Pollo (boneless chicken breast), and Lechon Asado (roasted pork). Despite the renovations, reps confirm that the prices have remained relatively unchanged since its closure." - Olee Fowler

As the Cubans say “Bueno, Bonito y Barato”. No I’m not Cuban but that’s what I hear. Food: Great food for the price Service: It’s good. I’ve came here enough times to talk with some of the waitresses. Try to be patient, most of them have 2 jobs day & night in order to survive. Atmosphere: Clean diner.

Google
It was my first time, and I loved it. It's kind of expensive, but the sandwich, the bacon, and the coffee were good! However. I have to say that the service was impressive!

Google
My favorite Cuban restaurant is finally open once again after what felt like an eternity of a remodel. You can not go wrong with this place. The food and service is great and the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I’d put Latin America as the number one Cuban restaurant in Miami Lakes!

Google
Food was HORRIBLE! Worst breakfast ever. Pork sandwich was dry and saggy, croquettes were cold and hard to eat, these people don’t know what a good croquette taste like. Steak was hard, cold and ugly looking. When we claimed to our waitress she brought the manager that never acknowledged what we were complaining for. Never coming back to this place.

Google
I've been coming here since the 90s, so I'm familiar that even the staff has been there that long. great place to eat on the run decent cuban food. Sandwiches are the best, so I go there and have the best sandwiches made in your face. Love the evolution and that they have stayed the same throughout all these years.

Google
Wonderful atmosphere and food was delicious! The restaurant was recommended to us by friends so we cane to check it out for ourselves and loved it. The service and servers were all so friendly and made us feel right at home. Even though it was packed and full, we were seated within 5 mins! We will definitely be back to the Latin America Grill. INCREDIBLE COFFEE WOWWW!!

Google
Great Cuban restaurant in Miami Lakes. Like a phoenix, it rose from the ashes better than before. You can come to this restaurant for any meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Excellent varied menu and the daily specials are delicious. Service is fast and pleasant. It's no wonder why this restaurant is busy all day 7-days a week. If you're a local or in the area, check it out for reasonably priced delicious Cuban cuisine served with a smile.

Google
Food is always good. Service was outstanding. I'm not from the area just visiting. It's is home cooked Cuban/American food. I have never been disappointed.

Yelp
Latin American Grill in Miami Lakes is hands down one of my favorite spots for a Cuban breakfast, and I come here almost every Saturday. The portions are always generous, and the flavors are incredible. Their croquetas are definitely a specialty and something I always look forward to. It's a popular spot, especially on weekends, so be prepared for a 10-15 minute wait--but it's worth it! If I had to point out one thing, it would be the café con leche. But, to be fair, I'm quite picky when it comes to coffee, so it's hard to win me over in that department. That said, this place is consistently great, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an authentic Cuban breakfast in Miami!

George L.

Yelp
Excellent customer service. Great food, ranging from breakfast to dinner options! Highly recommended

Maribel M.

Yelp
Since the reopening, the food quality has not been the same. Second time getting a sandwich and bread is stale. Not happy at all especially since waiting so long to reopen. Disappointed

Sarah G.

Yelp
Our server was great, very nice and attentive. The Cubano was AMAZING! And the ambiance was nice, such a great local spot!!

Linda M.

Yelp
This is a very busy restaurant and food service is fast and very fresh I had the BLT with fries and my friend had the Cuban sandwich We were both very satisfied and had leftovers

Lia R.

Yelp
Been coming here since 2001 & it hasn't changed. Quick service. You come here for an easy meal. Not for top quality. But its good - meets the need for a quick fix. Service is fast paced. Food is cheap. They recently remodeled and but its kept the same vibe. Bueno. Bonito. Barato.

José A.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast and it was such an enjoyable experience. We got there relatively early, got sat down quickly, and we had a very nice and personable waitress take care of us. My two cohorts had their media noche sandwich, whereas I had their quintessential Cuban breakfast offering. The food came out quick, hot, and our coffee was kept bottomless - truly enjoyed the experience and was impressed with how quickly we were able to get a take out added to our order and out to us.

Jorge O.

Yelp
After a full remodeling and renovation it is open offering high quality home made style Cuban food. Nice atmosphere in beautiful Miami Lakes and warm and welcoming service from staff. Busy most of the day. Two important issues: they did not increase their prices after reopening and the complimentary bread they serve is the best in town.

Rene C C.

Yelp
Familiar Good Food reasonable prices Excellent service big parking lots all the waiters are very friendly and respectful management is very helpful

Yvonne A.

Yelp
Last week I ordered a pot roast to go, and the meat was hard, It was not tender. Secondly, the food is always cold today we decided to in again, and my husband ordered Ropa Vieja, it tasted like tomato sauce without seasoning and cold. We will not be going back again.

Jeysi S.

Yelp
They finally reopened and the service was a little slow, this was due to the amount of people who were there. The food was good, it just came out a little cold, again it may have been because of the amount of people who were there. Their empanada was great tho, try one of them.

Jose R.

Yelp
Very good food ropa vieja. The menu had traditional great testing Cuban food mixed with traditional as well as American sides. The restaurant had excellent service.

Jorge F.

Yelp
I was at first happy to see this place open again, but I have been here to eat a few time now after opening. I have not had a good plate of food, The food quality is not the same as it used to be. The place has been done nice the service is great. The people are real nice, and also happy to see some of the old people back at the window. But a shame the food is not great anymore. Hopefully they can get the food back to what it used

Amely A.

Yelp
When ordering to add tomato and onion, they charge $3.00 and not even one whole tomato And the side for mash potatoes is so little

Eva F.

Yelp
All excellent, from food to service and staff. Drink Cafecito everyday. My second home!!!

Barbara V.

Yelp
We came back from a trip , decided to pass by one of my favorite Cuban breakfast spots. I was so glad it re-opened, but I had not gone for dinner since it re-opened recently. What a disappointment!!!! My husband ordered the arroz con pollo ( one of the specials of the day). That was horrible. It tasted like parboiled race with yellow coloring,. There were pools of yellow water in the bottom with a lot of peas! Not a good arroz con pollo!. It tasted like "cubitos" de pollo rice. I had the churrasco with black beans and !rice. The Churrasco had so much fat, I'm not sure that's what it was. It had zero taste. I had to add salt and pepper to give it a little flavor! The meal was horrible. Black beans tasted like canned beans. I'll give them credit for the tostones and sweet plantains! The service was good! What happened to the good cooks????

Ozzie G.

Yelp
It's a shame that after a few years of being closed, after a kitchen fire forced renovations, the food quality has not improved. I was under impression that you couldn't mess up a "pan con bistec" but I got to hand it to them... they succeeded!!! After waiting 37 minutes for the order at the window and the waiter repeatedly asking for the order, six times, the manager came out and said the grill was full of steak and he couldn't ask his cooks to do more!!! That didn't improve the taste and when I got the order...it was wrong... maybe they shouldn't have reopened so soon!!!! The ambiance was typical, noisy and loud...overall they need improvement.

Terry V.

Yelp
After so long we were so excited to go back to LAG. We ordered over the phone. The person in the other end was kind and took our order said pick up in 15 minutes. The order took longer than we were told but we were good with that things happen. Unfortunately the food was not up to par. Black beans were super bland and cold. OT wasn't just salt bland it was just like canned beans that were not seasoned at all. The chicken same thing thank goodness for the lime and onions. The rice was dry and again no seasoning. We ordered beef empanadas and were given ham . Waste of money and someone didn't have dinner at our home. During the time it took them to reopen the restaurant we visited a few other places near by and much better than what we received today. Wish them much success and hope This was just a one off.

Mercedes R.

Yelp
Food great services very good also the ambiance happy that is finally open been coming to this restaurant for the past 15 years.

Tania A.

Yelp
Kitchen and Food is good. Prices are good too. Service is excellent and many Waiters and assistants. Place was remodeled. Noice is high when full, Acoustic problem, otherwise everything is good.

Marcela P.

Yelp
Family go to - tried and true always good cuban food! I've been going to the Miami lakes location for years and will continue to do so! My go to order is a small chicken soup as an appetizer, churrasco steak with white rice and black beans as the entree - so good!

Sarah P.

Yelp
Oh my..as good as I remember. It is so good to be back. This is mine and my husbands go to for good wholesome and very reasonably priced Cuban food. Since the pandemic they have also spruced up the inside decor to include new flooring and tiling throughout.

Cary F.

Yelp
We used to go to Latin American Grill in Miami Lakes all the time before it closed down for repairs, it was great in every way, the food, the service. Unfortunately, the new one that just opened a few weeks ago is a total disappointment. We had never had such a bad experience at a restaurant before, it took an hour before we were served the food we ordered, with no explanation from the waitress, Gloria B., even though I asked twice about what was going on, to make the story short, the ordered never came out complete, I got something different from what I ordered and in general the food was really bad. They need a new cook and the waitresses a good work training otherwise I am not sure how are the going to last. :(

Z R.

Yelp
The most delicious fried pork with even more delicious arroz Moro and yuca al mojo. This is a great place to get quick Cuban food. And it is delicious. Staff is super friendly and you can't beat the price for the food. It's just an awesome oasis for great Latino cubano flavor. Don't forget the coffee!!!!!!!

The C.

Yelp
Place was not too bad! I went here for breakfast and it's cheap, which is a plus. You can order almost whatever you want and you are not strictly stuck on the menu. The cooks will make you whatever you want, if they have the ingredients. However, there's some things that could've made it better. I ordered a tortilla (egg and onion omelet) but the onions used were browning and a little too old, making the omelet kinda bland. Also, for a place that serves breakfast, they didn't have any fruit! That to me seems essential. Despite that, they're pastelitos are absolutely delicious! Their guava, and cheese pastries were some of the best I've had so definitely go here for pastries. This place has apparently been serving the community for many years and for a cheap price. Although I think they can improve on the quality of their ingredients and for what they offer, overall it was a pleasant experience. I'll be sure to come back again to give it another try, maybe for lunch or dinner. :)

Yelp
Cuban Countyman Platter was the lunch special today: got it. Delicious. Paired with the appetizer sampler, and I'm is sampling heaven Cafe Con Leche at the end to help me stay awake should help, right?

Gloria A.

Yelp
Visit:a couple times Food:ropa vieja Arroz Frijoles negro The food is always delicious and not too salty Atmosphere:loud, family cuban feel Staff: nice but not the best service Tips: ropa vieja, expect a wait Return: yes

Xela Z.

Yelp
The server had an attitude from the start. I wanted to sit in a big table outside to the side of the building as there is less pedestrian traffic on the side. He suggested I sit on a smaller table in the front of the restaurant where there is heavy pedestrian traffic. I refused to move and he became pushy about it but I stood my ground. I'm paying for my meal I want to eat in peace without having people move up and about next to me while I am eating. The food on a scale from 1-10 was a 4. This place used to be much better years ago. I don't know if they changed owners or what but it went downhill. Unless they change the way they treat customers and the way they prepare their food, I will not spend my money there again.

Christine H.

Yelp
This is one of my go-to carry out places. I haven't dined inside in years, so I cannot speak about that. This review is solely about carry out and their food. The food is your typical Cuban comfort food. Everything tastes like abuela made it. You get a lot of bang for your buck. Huge portions at great prices. Their carry out service is always on point. First of all, they have never gotten my orders wrong (like some places do). Second, everyone at la ventanita is friendly and ensures you received everything in your order. The ONLY negative I have to say is that they only have 2 phone lines. Calling during peak times is always busy and you have to keep trying and trying to get through. Other than that, I will forever order from here!

Vanessa G.

Yelp
I ordered ahead and picked up some cuban sandwiches. They were good and they came with potato chips. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast. I would order from this place again if I want something quick.

Alyssa W.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 20 years. Over the last two years service has gotten progressively worse. Today my food was sent out in such a disgusting matter that no human should or would be able to consume it. They put about a pound of butter in my toast. Coffee was sent out full of coffee ground and finger prints inside and outside of the cup. I don't understand how anyone could looked at what was brought out and thought that it was presentable and consumable. Eggs weren't even cooked fully. I am beyond disappointed with the nastiness I witnessed here today. This was the final straw. This place has gone to crap.

Krystal G.

Yelp
We're not from Miami Lakes but when we're in the area, we make sure to stop here! Whether it's for a quick cafecito stop at the window or a home cooked feel meal- it's a stop we make gladly and never get tired of. Our little picky eater in the family is also a fan of their rice and shredded protein. Make sure to stop by and grab an order of their chicken soup, pan con bistec and FLAN. Don't leave without a café con leche. You'll be thinking- Starbucks who?! So good!

Yesline J.

Yelp
Came here for a Cuban breakfast and ended up with ANTS INSIDE MY TOSTADA. DEAD ANTS INSIDE MY TOSTADA. My boyfriend and I called the manager over and showed him the literal dead ants inside and this man had the audacity to say how it's "inevitable to keep ants out" and that in his HOUSE he has ants all the time...I was in awe because the MANAGER was justifying the fact that it's ok to have ants inside the food, it's inevitable. He also didn't apologize and continued to convince me to believe how it's a normal thing for them and it probably happened when they received the breads because the shipment comes from the outside and outside there's ants...call me crazy but I don't think the MANAGER should allow that to happen. In conclusion, the second time he came around he discounted our bill and apologized. Probably because he told the other workers to check the toast and found more ants. Never again will I be coming here. Don't even bother. Any issue you have the manager will just fight you.

David G.

Yelp
Been coming here for at least 10 years. Great spot for mariquitas and classic Cuban dishes. The only thing that consistently lacks, is the service. Don't get me wrong, the staff is very courteous, but they're very slow in getting things out and cleaning tables. I'd still recommend this place though.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Love the mariquitas and the churrasco here. Always good service and the food is ready fast. They have a really good menu with a lot of variety and something for everyone. Once again great service and yummy food! Got the chance to try the tres leches and it was yummy, had a creamy Carmel like taste. Churrasco was delicious as always! Also tried the Piccadillo and another great dish to enjoy.

Jeannette M.

Yelp
I always compare Cuban food at restaurants to my mom's cooking. This food was good. We ordered a Cuban sandwich, grilled chicken steak, grilled fish and a palomilla steak. Portions are a good size. Service was quick.

Alexis T.

Yelp
the breaded chicken was phenomenal. i used to get the fingers a long time ago but it tasted different this time around. and the portion sizes were huge. the wait is the worst part.

Gerry L.

Yelp
Stay away, they use bait and switch tactics. Ordered food via take out, went there, had to wait over 30 minutes in the take out window, the place was a disaster. Then when it came my turn, they tell me what I ordered had run out. When I called at 7:44 pm, I specifically asked if they still had Ajiaco, they said yes. Obviously, they gave mine to someone else, then tried to give me something different. Poor Service by the take out Window!

Montero M.

Yelp
the breakfast here is great! finally stopped by for lunch. the pork chunks are delicious, the miami sandwich was very good as well. I will definitely be back!

Mari M.

Yelp
This used to be an ok place for Cuban food but this last visit was the worst ever. Not even the staples (rice and beans) were edible. How do you mess up a pan con bistec- you serve a dry steak (probably cooked during lunch) on 2-3 day old, over toasted bread. Burnt grilled cheese sandwich. They should just stick to serving cafe from the window.

Julian C.

Yelp
This place has honestly been a tradition ever seen I was young. When I went to Gainesville for university, this is one of the places I looked forward to coming back to. While their dinner is good, I think they shine with the breakfast. My choice is el "Your Choice," with ham mixed into the scrambled eggs. It also comes with a hash brown, toast, and cafe con lèche, all for like $6ish. The menu says it's only two eggs that they serve, but it's definitely more. It's always delicious and filling. The service is usually very quick, and if you're pressed on time, this place would be a good choice as long as it's not slammed. I highly recommend this place for breakfast to anyone as it's never disappointed

Chris B.

Yelp
The breakfast was delicious. I recommend this spot for some good Hispanic breakfast. The service was on point and they were fast.

Jacques R.

Yelp
This place is located in Miami Lakes and is at the corner of a shopping center. The place has lots of people and several seating spaces. Food, as average as food can be... Meat, well choose other things not the churrasco. Salad was lame and missing love.. The tuna salad was too creamy and missing flavor. Service was ok, just ok. This place is good value, but should improve food. It is clean and restroom was also clean. There is self parking outside. Enjoy

Ramon V.

Yelp
Pretty disappointing. Stopped here because we recognized the name and were hungry and in a hurry. As soon as you walk in the place is chaos, soooo packed, I don't know why. No instructions to seat yourself or wait to be seated. We stood there for a bit not knowing what to do until finally one of the servers told us to sit at some table. Ordered some croquetas to start, they were ok, kinda dry on the inside. I had a pan con bistec and it was pretty disastrous. Big hard piece of steak on one side, tiny nugget of steak on the other. Poorly constructed, totally fell apart and to add insult to injury they didn't put any of the little fries on it. My girlfriends chicken sandwich wasn't much better and both our fries were on the soggy end. Definitely wouldn't bother coming back here.

Sandra F.

Yelp
Everything is perfect, but the air conditioner is to low . Please I like this place but put the air lower

Edgar S.

Yelp
Buen servicio y calidad en las comidas y postres que ofrecen, buen trato y servicio, estuve con mí familia y nos gustó tanto la calidad, rapidez en el servicio y limpieza. Regresaré pronto

Celeste M.

Yelp
When I'm in Miami Lakes for breakfast, I always come here. The food is satisfying and the prices are cheap. I usually get the breakfast special which comes with one choice of protein, eggs, and a side. I go for ham, scrambled eggs, and French fries. They are about 4 protein options and you can also get hash browns instead of French fries. Other things to get here are the croquetas, any sandwich, and the flan. The place is always full so you know the food is good. It's always served hot and food gets to the table pretty quickly. Latin America is good for family breakfast and group lunches. The service and experience here is hit or miss. It is more of a hit for me most times, which is why it gets 4 stars. This is just a good place to try out. Conveniently located in the Miami Lakes shopping center makes this place a go-to. This is a much better option for breakfast than the Burger King next door.

AG H.

Yelp
Wow! Tasteless food, this Place has gone from pretty good to Very bad! I'll skip next time. The vaca frita with the wht rice completely tasteless. I had To ask for lemon, after adding some Salt...... the chef is the worst ones :(

Angie D.

Yelp
was very discussed with the meal that was brought . the yuca was full of salt the steam was full of fat and the Moro was burned. The corvette was cold. the only thing that was worth eating was the chicken soup. even the tamal was horrible. did they loose there Latin touch? will never go back.
