Latin American Grill Reopens in Miami Lakes With Extensive Renovation | Eater Miami
"I've learned that Latin American Grill, a Miami Lakes mainstay for nearly three decades, is set to reopen after a nearly two-year hiatus caused by a Nov. 19, 2022 kitchen fire; located at 15342 NW 79th Court in the Park Centre Shops, it underwent a $1.4 million renovation during the closure. “I thought this day would never come,” said owner and founder Reny Gonzalez, who added that they have missed their customers; no one was injured in the after-hours blaze, but a malfunction in the fire suppression system led to extensive damage and provided Gonzalez the opportunity to remodel and modernize. The renovations include new flooring, light-colored subway tiles contrasted with decorative patterned tiles, dark, distressed wood trim throughout the dining room, an updated sandwich station encased in glass that lets guests watch their sandwiches made by “luncheros,” new double windows at the “ventanita” to streamline Cuban coffee and to-go orders, and outdoor patio seating lit by modern European lighting and framed by new planters. Gonzalez said, “Very little could be saved, so we ended up designing a whole new restaurant from scratch. This will be our prototype for all new locations going forward.” Latin American Grill remains open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is known for an extensive menu of Cuban staples such as sandwiches, ropa vieja (shredded beef), churrasco, chicken soup, Pechuga de Pollo (boneless chicken breast), and Lechon Asado (roasted pork); reps confirm prices have remained relatively unchanged, and it is now open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m." - Olee Fowler
