Miami’s 12 Best Places for Hot Chocolate | Eater Miami

"Latin Cafe 2000 in Brickell knows the importance of the churro con hot chocolate movement in Miami. Skip (or add to) the usual croquetas and cafecito and order churros served with dulce de leche and a piping warm hot chocolate on the side. This classic Miami combination is best enjoyed during an unexpected cold front." - Amber Love Bond

As a first-time visitor to Latin Cafe 2000, I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to this wonderful establishment. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. Outstanding Service The server truly made the experience memorable. Their patience and helpfulness as I navigated the menu for the first time was exceptional. It's clear they take pride in ensuring every customer feels comfortable and well cared for, regardless of their familiarity with the cuisine. Atmosphere & Ambiance The vibe at Latin Cafe is exactly what you'd want from a neighborhood spot, chill, authentic, and inviting. It's the kind of place where you can settle in and truly enjoy your meal without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. The Food: Exceptional Value I ordered the Ropa Vieja with Moros y Cristianos and Plátanos Maduros, and every bite exceeded my expectations. The tender, flavorful shredded beef paired perfectly with the beans and rice, while the sweet plantains provided the perfect complement to the savory elements. What impressed me most was the exceptional quality relative to the price point, especially considering the location. You're getting authentic, well-prepared Cuban cuisine without breaking the bank. Final Thoughts Latin Cafe has earned a loyal customer. The combination of outstanding service, relaxed atmosphere, and exceptional food at great value makes this a standout choice. I'm already looking forward to returning to try their breakfast menu. If it's anything like dinner, it's going to be fantastic. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic Latin cuisine in a welcoming, no fuss environment. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
Amazing service, amazing food, great sangria! Went with a local friend and he helped us order and it was just fantastic. Not expensive for what we ordered, and I was very very happy with my Cuban sandwich!!

Google
This is one of the coolest restaurants in Miami. The first one I went to was in Hialeah, and this one is just as delicious plus the fun downtown charm of Brikell. Seriously man, just a chill Thursday morning having some pan con bistec with nice indoor and outdoor seating.

Google
I'm very glad we chose here to grab lunch when we got off the metro mover. Our waitress was very nice and was able to make recommendations for us on what to eat. My mojito was delicious. The food was all great. The atmosphere was very chill. There is an outdoor area and I saw a dog and a cat there enjoying their day with their owners just like us. The fans kept all the air circulating and it wasn't too hot. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent food. Generous portions. Friendly staff. Erika was great.

Google
This is a weekly must: a cafecito paired with delicious empanadas. The food is both tasty and affordable. It's enjoyable to sit and chat while appreciating the beautiful weather.

Google
We had a delivery on Jan 21 and found a Screw in our beans. We called The Brickell location and spoke to the Manager Victor to let him know what happened . He was very rude and not helpful at all. We were trying to explain as a courtesy as we always order from them. We will never order again and reporting to the Health dept for review. Horrible customer service.

Google
They brought us complementary bread. Appetizers were ham and cheese croquetas, empanadas de pollo, and ceviche de camarón. Everything was really good. And as for the entrees we shared pollo a la plancha and salmon al ajillo. Sides: Mashed potatoes and tostones with mojo. 9/10

Yelp
Great spot where we grabbed a quick bite. The woman working the front take out counter was incredible. Friendly, personable, kind, spoke to us all about the area and gave us good suggestions and info. The spinach cheese empanada was delicious and the green sauce is also delicious! Great little spot! We also went back a second time and the food was also very good!

Yelp
Absolutely horrible customer service. Ordered via Uber and they sent me the incorrect item. (See the picture with the receipt and what they sent) All I ordered was vaca frita and they sent me a container with 6 shrimp. Not even close to what I ordered. No problem because things happen right. I call over there and they don't even apologize that they messed up the order. All they could say is take it up with Uber. I asked to speak to the manager but he was too busy to talk to me. The managers name was Juan according to the guy I spoke with. I feel like the entire purpose of a a manager is to handle situations like these so the poor servers don't have to. This is the second time I try and order from here. I'm done.

Yelp
Food: The food was amazing and so flavorful!!! 10/10 I ordered the Vaca Frita with Arroz Moro and Maduros as my sides. I also ordered a Mango Margarita which was delicious. The dish was cooked to perfection and all the flavors were amazing!!!! Service: My husband and I arrived about an hour and a half before closing, however the service was great and the server was very friendly and attentive and he did not rush us at all. Ambiance: The interior was pretty cool, I liked the bar area, however didn't get photo of it. As for the tables inside was pretty standard. Upon entering there was a table with a decorated skeleton couple. Not sure if this is always there or if it's just there for October season. Either way it's cute, the food is so good you will come back again and again even in skeleton form after you die!! lol We will definitely keep Latin Cafe on our list of places go and we might just go back this weekend!!!

Yelp
Fun spot in Brickell. Great portion. Service was excellent and go for that sangria that's full of flavors. Churros are a must try and their flan was fresh.

Yelp
I passed by this place after a 5 mile walk and decided to have a croqueta and cortadito. My goodness that was the best corqueta that I have ever had in Miami. I didn't even post a photo of it because I ate it so quickly. The coffee was made just right. Normally, cortadito is made burnt but not here! I'm looking forward to come back to this place to try their food

Yelp
Good strong Cuban coffee. Had a nice sweetness and I don't want to know how much sugar was in it to make that super strong coffee sweet. My wife had a cafe con leche and that also had a nice kick with good flavor. Great location right next to our hotel, would definitely go again for a nice strong coffee shot.

Yelp
My dad wanted Cuban food as he was visiting Miami and this was alright. Not my fave Cuban food but the waitress was very attentive. It's also a prime location in brickell. There's definitely better Cuban food but I'd still recommend trying this place
google avatar

Karina J.

Yelp
Ordered through Uber eats so this review is really just on the food. Food was decent with great flavor, however wasn't really warm and small portions for the price.

Yelp
Love, love Latin cafe! My go-to for a delicious and reasonably priced Cuban breakfast in the heart of Brickell. My favorite croquettes are here - I think they're even better than the ones at Dolores and Crazy About You. Love that they have a ventanita, we surprisingly don't have much of the Latin dining vibe around Brickell and this place helps fill that void. They also host a lot of community gatherings and events, like the pig pardoning during the holidays!

Nicolas M.

Yelp
Great recovery smoothie!! Empanadas are also wonderful! Service is very good!!! Latin cafe
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
It's an OK place overall - we just needed a quick bite near last day of our stay and this one fit the bill. I'll say their empanadas are pretty good with satisfying amount of filling, but no comment on their omelettes or coffee. They also did not serve freshly squeezed juice, only canned stuff which was a bit surprising. Interior is very spacious towards the front though the side area isn't as nice to sit. I can see this place as a good place for friends to get together for quick bite, watch some game, but place seems slightly over priced for what it is, at least from our visit.

Yelp
Food was great perfect for brunch, patio was a vide views of planes landing service was welcoming and bilingual

Yelp
Came here for my fix of Cuban cortadito and it did NOT disappoint. I was happy they had almond milk as an option. They also let me put how much sugar I wanted in it which I appreciated it because I like it on the less sweet side. Our server was so sweet, too!

Sophia S.

Yelp
Cuban Coffee: delicious Empanadas (one beef, one spinach): good Tostones Rellenos: delicious Cubano Regular: okay, good portion but needs more pickles. the entire sandwich only had one (long ways) pickle slice

Yelp
The waiter made a suggestion and I didn't even have to ask for it! Ropa Vieja was his recommendation and It was amazing! I would never have ordered that nor would I have ordered the rice black bean side but thankfully he made the suggestion and my tastebuds were delighted with the experience. I will definitely go back when I am in town.

Yelp
I've been dropping by Latin Cafe 2000 for their empanadas and when my family was in town we decided to hit up Latin Cafe for their happy hour. We ordered some margaritas and passion fruit mules and sat outside or enjoy the weather. My margarita was not the best, it was very salty. My sister sent hers back and asked for no salt and it tasted a lot better. The passion fruit mules were so good! They were fresh and delicious! We also ordered empanadas to try. The empanadas were so crunchy and savory. I've had their empanadas to go before and they don't disappoint! Sometimes they have live music which is really nice and have different themes throughout the week! Great place with great service!

Yelp
I initially visited last year in the summer as I was in the area with friends and we desperately needed some coffee. To my surprise they have a menu with quite a variety of dishes. From soups and salads, to Latin entrees like palomilla, chicken, vaca frita, pork chops, etc which come with sides like rice and beans, tostones, fries. Appetizers include croquetas, empanadas, papa rellena and tamales. They also have a good selection of sandwiches. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Reservations not needed any of the times I've visited since. Nice bar area and complimentary valet on a building right next to it, you must mention it to the valet prior and then mention it to the restaurant so ticket is validated.

Yelp
New look and design are great and give the cafe a modern Brickell touch. However got quite disappointed by the quality of the colada they serve now. Has no espumita anymore and the taste is not at the top level as before. Didn't have food this time, however the plates still look tasty and are in big portions
google avatar

Hector R.

Yelp
The one thing I really like about this place is the service, they really are nice and go overboard trying to provide outstanding customer service. I Didn't have time to sit and eat so I ordered some take out but I ended up ordering the wrong thing by mistake, when I got to the restaurant I told the lady I made a mistake and she fixed it right away, I apologized for my mistake but she didn't make a big deal out of it, she treated me really good and told me it wasn't a problem. she told me she was happy to help! This is the type of service that makes people want to continue supporting and visiting a restaurant over and over! In conclusion she made sure my order was prepared how I wanted! I was very satisfied! I also picked up a Cuban coffee while I waited, coffee was perfect . Happy 305 day!!!!!

Yelp
Disappointing, food could have been great. Fries were cold and stale and there were zero condiments. This was an Eats order and was terrible. No Cuban crunch on sandwiches which is ok since it was delivery. There is no way to put in condiments because the restaurant doesn't add them. They didn't read the note to add the condiments either. Won't order here again. Was stuck chewing on dry lifeless food. Never again.

Yelp
Good stuff for an "out of towner" like me but I wonder what the locals think. you cant get food like this in TN, so I loved what I had but don't remember the names of it...sorry.
google avatar

Yelp
For sure, our least favorite place that we went to while in Miami. We got the yucca fries a chicharone, Cuban sandwich and the one with guava. The fries were OK a little undercooked. The Chicharrón so many on a platter and really needed more acid than two limes. As far as the sandwiches, they were fine didn't feel like good quality but if you're hungry, they will work. We would have given this three stars as an average place to go, but we were one of three tables and it took us 30 minutes after we were done eating to get the check because our server seemed to be talking to Friend outside. Lots of room for improvement for this place.

Yelp
I came here for dinner while visiting the area area with my fiance. We were excited to try out some Cuban food and also found the overall area to be pleasant to walk through. We walked to the restaurant from our hotel room and found it pretty easily. We also chose to sit outside and were greeted by the waitress very quickly. The menu had a good number of selections, but wasn't too big. We decided to go with the roasted pork and chicken with chimichurri. Both were very good. We had wanted to try the sampler platter and the side of yuca in garlic sauce but they were out of both unfortunately. Overall a nice spot and I'd recommend a stop in!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered takeout- chicken empanada, chicken vaca frita sandwich and pan con bistec with fries. Everything was below average- the sandwiches were dry and minimalistic and the fries were soggy.

Yelp
Very chill vibes, outdoor seating is nice and food was pretty good. Very good customer service

Yelp
Latin Cafe is my favorite local spot. We're always here for a cortadito. Love the outside mist when it's hot.

Yelp
It had been a while since we had been in Miami. Even longer since we had tried the Latin Cafe 2000. The Brickell location was new for us. It was just like we remembered. The service was quick and on point. And the food?  OMG. Latin Cafe proves it doesn't have to be fancy to be great. The real art is taking a simple dish, doing it extremely well, without over complicating it. The chicken Milenesa is a perfect example and some of the best around. The flavor of the rice and beans? Delicious. We came back the next morning for breakfast. Scrambled eggs, ham, fresh Cuban bread, and cafe con leche. Again, simple, but Excellent. Outdoor and open air seating. A phenomenal casual vibe. Well worth the wait, and definitely worth a trip back.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly service and the food was good. Fast service. Both inside as outside seating. They have a happy hour that's worth a try and they also got a Yelp check in deal which I didn't use
google avatar

Tonia H.

Yelp
I had the most delicious mango, avocado salad. It was wonderful and the service was quick and friendly. I will return!
google avatar

Thuha N.

Yelp
Great coffee. Menu looks good too so we might come back for dinner. We also got a quava and cheese pastry, which is in a roll-up shape, so the inside is undercooked and the outside is too hard to bite into... also, parking is a drag...
google avatar

M Scott C.

Yelp
This is a great little spot tucked away kindof off the main streets. But not too far off. The food and service were excellent, and we will definitely be back!
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Pretty disappointing. I got home and wanted a Cuban sandwich and croqueta to cure my bad day. I ordered via a delivery platform. The sandwich was pretty underwhelming. There was no mustard, the pork was minimal and flavorless. And the croqueta was actually a guava and cheese tequeno that they switched by mistake.

M G.

Yelp
Great breakfast place. Vibe is absolutely "vacation mode". Breeze. Music. Solid cafe Cubano and bistec a palomilla. Service could use some work, but it's early and we aren't in a rush so not a big deal.

Brian R.

Yelp
I've given this place a second chance and again let down. Food was ok. Needed some flavor . Servers all over the place no one asking if you need anything. Quick to rush you out
google avatar

Elnor B.

Yelp
Hoy el señor Joe me atendió y me recomendó El caldo Gallego y como siempre estuvo magistral la recomendación y la atención siempre VIP. Muchas gracias por hacerme sentir en casa. 100% Recomendados
google avatar

Yelp
Note, this review is only for cafe con leche and coconut flan to go. As a coffee lover, I have to give these guys a shout out. Their cafe on leche is the bomb! Pairing the coffee with the flan is just heavenly. Made my Miami trip worth it.
google avatar

Louise B.

Yelp
Delicious coffee . We had a lovely Cuban sandwich with fries . It's a very popular Cuban spot in Brickell . Good service , they have table and ventanito walk up.

Christian B.

Yelp
I love Latin food and this restaurant is really good. Great taste, polite servers, very clean and prices are good for Miami. Ambience is ok, nothing spectacular, but you feel welcome here.

Raul R.

Yelp
Brickell is known for expensive and at time not so great value for what you pay. Well I am pleasantly surprised with the food from Latin Cafe. I had the Guizo de Maíz. Wow it was great, the flavor, ingredients, remind you of you Grandma's cooking/comfort food. Again, prices are moderate but worth the money. Besides the food, the service provided by Antonio was impeccable and friendly. I will come for happy hour. Hope the mojitos are as good as their Lunch Menu... don't WAIT! Go and try it! You will be satisfied with the quality of the food.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was slow. Loved the vibe. We ordered the steak and eggs and were not disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for a quick coffee and empanada fix, and found this little gem. It's a nice restaurant with an order window for to-go food. Along with a Cuban coffee, I asked for a spinach and cheese empanada that was delicious! The inside sit down area seems nice, but the street vibe and window pick-up is really interesting. I'd highly recommend it!

Steve S.

Yelp
Great place for a traditional Cuban breakfast with Cuban coffee. Nice decor and friendly staff. Enjoyed the meal!

Yelp
I've worked in Brickell for more than a year-and-a-half, and Latin Cafe 2000 has remained one of the go-to's for Cafe con Leches and ham & cheese empanadas. When I first started commuting to Brickell, it was by Brightline, Metrorail/Metromover. If I took the Metromover specifically, then I would stop at Latin Cafe for my Leche and Empanada fix. While I now drive to Brickell, I still enjoy walking over to Latin Cafe, as I prefer their empanadas and Cafe con Leches more to other places in the local area. I enjoy using the take-out window to place my orders, as I like the speed of receiving what I need and heading back to the office with my goodies. In addition to their empanadas, I enjoy their prosciutto sandwich and have them add bacon to it -- because why not? If you're going to order something, and bacon is an option to add, it's worth doing right. From the interior dining area to the exterior one, Latin Cafe 2000 has good seatings options, depending on what you prefer. While there's a cool bar that serves cocktails inside, I like the outside where you can scan around and enjoy the Brickell skyline that is all-encompassing with sky-rises nowadays.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE LOOKING FOR AUTHENTIC CUBAN FOOD! DO COME IF YOU WANT SHITE SERVICE WITH AN ARSEHOLE ATTITUDE! Food was alright at best, but decently priced for Miami. Service was absolutely awful. Server (Isa) had 1 other table in an empty restaurant and we never saw her. When she did elect to grace us with her presence, she was rude and wholly inattentive. The only positives from dining here is being able to warn all of you, and knowing we will never have to go back.
google avatar

Sam E.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place! The food was super authentic and really large portions. Everything I got was as described and the flavor was awesome. I still think about that al ajillo (garlic) sauce on the shrimp. It was creamy, garlicky, and super tasty. The food came out fast and the service was great. This kindve place could accommodate anything from a date for 2 or a big group. Highly recommend if you're looking for good, well priced Cuban food with big portions!
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Not a bad place for dinner. We stopped off right before the dinner rush. Which still happened to be happy hour. Right in the heart of brickell. As it was still happy hour, drinks were a good deal. As well as some of the appetizers. Happy hour prices were pretty good. Menu did have a lot to choose from. Staff was quite great. Our dishes was good. The only downfall was the fish taco had a smell from it. Not quite sure if it was to much cabbage or the sauce that was on it. The other dishes was great. Empanadas were amazing, which was on the happy hour menu. The ceviche was good, whole shrimps in the savory sauce. Served with plantain chips. Main course was good as well. The shrimp and mahi mahi pasta was quite good. Omelette was great as well. More like a frittata. You would think as we're here Cuban food would have been the way to go. But the other dishes sounded quite appealing hence the order. Enjoyed this place. Good for happy hour. It's pretty quite before happy hour but did get quite busy when we left.
google avatar

Francisco A.

Yelp
Food was good, but the food and coffee were way overpriced. The portion size was smaller than other Cuban restaurants and prices higher.
google avatar

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
Quick authentic Cuban lunch, why not!!! The ropa vieja and tostones rellenos are a must !!!
google avatar

Bill G.

Yelp
A highlight of our visit to Miami. Their coffees are all excellent, and their sandwiches and empanadas were all outstanding. We found their takeout window to be extremely convenient, and they even offered to let us eat our takeout there when a table opened up.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun spot to get your Latin carbs and drinks on! We sat at the bar, which by the way has a lively decor feels fun and flirty. They have happy hour every day and I fell in love with the motito- Tito's vodka, fresh mint and soda (I skipped the agave) made it flaca (skinny girl) style. Food was well seasoned and not overly salty which is huge for Latin food. We ordered the ropa Veja tostones- yummy! My man had the Cuban sandwich and this is where they lost the 5 stars- tiny portion for the pork! It was more ham then pork.... and even that we had to combine everything into one sandwich. They could improve in this area!! Make a manwhich Cuban please.
