If you’re in Toronto’s west end and craving affordable, authentic tacos and Latin eats in a laid-back grocery–restaurant, Latin World is a fantastic pick. Great for casual sit-downs or quick takeout—don’t miss the $1‑taco deals, the salsa bar, and the unique Latin grocery shelves. Latin World is a grocery-store‑meets‑taqueria at 1229 Bloor St W in Bloordale (Toronto), offering truly authentic Mexican and Latin American eats at very affordable prices.

Google
Delicious and authentic Mexican food. $1 taco promos some days, and weekly specials are also available. Everything is affordable, and there were many dishes that you won't find at any other Mexican restaurant. It was a nice and refreshing change from the hipster-type places that other so-called Mexican places offer.

The waitress was kind when I ordered some gorditas filled with carnitas, but they took long time and still came to me raw with this paltry amount of meat. I came home to heat them up so the dough could finish cooking. On top of that, we got diarrhea.

I purchased the "cochinita tacos". I usually get these from a different Latin World location but the flavor is pretty consistent among all the locations that have it. It's very oily but very tasty, especially with the green salsa that has a bit of a spicy kick but nothing over the top if you eat hot sauce relatively often. Add the lime and it’s a great meal, being 4 tacos for $16.94 The location is quite small, with the location being very narrow. They have about 7 tables for seating. It was very hot when I went in June, since they have 1 fan and have to keep the door open to deal with the heat of the kitchen, resulting in poor airflow. It also lacks natural and artificial light so it seems like it's closed most times. They accept cash, debit and credit, including AMEX. They also sell many authentic mexican grocery products, including candy. Ultimately, I would come back to pick up tacos but I wouldn't go to this location to sit down and eat, especially with the requirement of paid parking.

The nachos were fine, nothing out of the ordinary but not bad either.

Google
Dropped by for their $1 tacos de canasta promotion on Fridays. Tasted great and there were three types of tacos in my order of 6 and was served with three types of Salsa. Got a Jamaica as a drink which was average.

Went there with my son & his girlfriend after talking about wanting tacos for lunch. It was a great meal. So delicious & generous portions. Real authentic food. I ate everything, on my plate. I recommend this place for Mexican cuisine. Next time I’m back in TO. I will definitely be back 🩷

Google
I have been pining for a good Mexican food place in Totonto, and this place is great! Huge burritos, generous serving of carnitas, selection of properly spicy salsas, jarritos in the fridge and Mariachi on the speakers. Take that, California homesickness!

Yelp
Stopped by Latin World to satisfy a bit of a Latin food craving and ended up here after checking out the quirky interior and laid-back vibe. Since I already had a pretty heavy meal earlier in the day, I decided to keep it light. Went with the Nopal Taco (the one with grilled cactus) and A La Mexicana, which is a shrimp dish cooked in salsa ranchera, served with rice and salad. Paired that with Inca Kola, which apparently tastes just like cream soda. To be honest, for a Saturday evening with nearly empty house and all that casual chaos, I didn't expect too much. But in a weird way, I actually enjoy that slightly offbeat, mismatched energy you often get at Latin spots. There's always something a little awkward going on, and I don't know why, but I kind of love that. Sure, the taco shell could've been better, and the server wasn't exactly on point with the drink availability. Could've also explained the dishes a bit more instead of just saying "I don't know", but hey, the food itself hit the spot. Would've liked a bit more kick in the seasoning, but at least the server was open to adjusting and didn't miss a thing once asked. Bonus point goes to the heart-shaped rice. No idea why that detail stuck with me, but it did. All in all, it's one of those places that might not check every box perfectly, but something about it makes you want to come back.

Yelp
Latin World is hands down one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. The $1 taco specials on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, (and I think Friday too) are such great value for absolutely delicious food. Honourable mention to the Beef Chimichanga that almost brought me to tears the first time I tried it. Food aside, the staff are always very nice and service is quick. They also let you purchase their homemade salsas if you ask. I always make a point to stop by whenever I'm in the area and I suggest everybody else to do the same. I love you Latin World!

Yelp
This is an amazing small restaurant in grocery store. I can't wait to visit the other locations after being greeted by the very friendly server we were informed at the restaurant was out of Carnitas tacos and instead they were serving chorizo. I was happy to order chorizo tacos for a dollar each and was extremely impressed by the free salt, collection, faster, free chips and honestly incredible flavour and quality of meat in these tacos. I can't wait to come back and try the other location and other daily specials.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant last weekend with my fiancé. We were a bit confused at first because we saw that there were 2 Latin World restaurants right across from one another. However, the other was more of a small Mexican grocer with a few tables for a quick bite. We decided to go to the larger restaurant location since it was a larger space and had more comfortable seating. The restaurant was very colourful and lively, with Mexican music in the background. They also sold various gifts and souvenirs from Mexico. We each ordered one shrimp taco and one fish taco. They were served with traditional corn tortillas with onions, cilantro, and pico de gallo. Very authentic, and tasted just like the tacos you would get in Mexico. Both tasted great, but I preferred the fish taco. My only complaint was that there was very little protein. For almost $6 a taco, I would've expected more than 2 shrimps per taco...

Yelp
Okay so let me preface this all by saying...im a chilli wuss, but I love flavour and will take the pain for the flavour. So ordered Chilequiles, one of my favourite comfort dishes, the portion was HUGE, and flavour definitely NOT mild...but it was quite delicious. Usually chilequiles are with chips and they absorb the sauce, their version was very wet so keep that in mind. I dont mind but I definitely would have preferred wore texture. The Tamale was drowned in cotija which was a bit of a bummer as i wanted to taste tje lamb barbacoa ($2 extra). Maybe im used to my tamales just more moist and flavour forward but this was all salt and chili so wont order again. Have had tamales all over Mexico and parts of latin america, this is not their strength. The Guacamole was DELICIOUS...seriously great batch with strong lime and nice sized chips. I think worth another try but maybe in person next time to gove it a fair shake!

Jacob K.

Yelp
Cheap, delicious and unique. Go to the location in the grocery store. Food came out quick and hot. Was delicious and will definitely be going back for the $1 tacos.

Maxime C.

Yelp
Authentic, Latin-Owned restaurant with fantastic tacos and tortas. Chorizo tortas are generous, flavorful, and delicious. This is one of the few authentic Mexican restaurants in Toronto, and by far my favorite. 1$ tacos Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at their store location across the street. Dine-in gets homemade chips and salsa! A Bloor West establishment.

Danielle B.

Yelp
Walking past this restaurant, we noticed a sign that said $1 tacos, so we thought why not check them out!? We went in and were told we could sit anywhere we liked, so we grabbed a table outside. The menu is only available by scanning the QR code (which we didn't notice) and details of the taco special were on the last page. It turns out there's a minimum of 20 tacos per person, which made zero sense to me. No way I'm eating 20 tacos! It was a beautiful sunny day and I was craving a beer, but they are not licensed so I stuck with water. Anyway, now that I'm craving tacos, I definitely have to order some! The regular price for one taco is almost $6 - which seemed high but I had to try them. We were starting to get super hungry and decided to order a bunch of things to share, starting with some ceviche and guacamole. The ceviche was very watery and almost warm, as though they cooked the seafood first, then dumped it in the sauce. Definitely not what I was expecting and I would not order that again. The guacamole was quite good - probably the best thing we ordered, actually. I liked that the chips are made in house (or at least appear to be). We were also given an order of chips and salsa, as well as a little dish of what looked like chili oil, which was way too spicy for me. The green salsa, on the other hand, was delicious! I could eat that every day. Next, we had a chorizo quesadilla, which arrived covered in lettuce and crumbled cheese - again, not what I was expecting, but it wasn't too bad. It was similar to a calzone, with a thick dough instead of a tortilla. Next up was a burrito and the tacos. I actually didn't try the burrito, but my friend said it was good. The tacos were really disappointing, unfortunately. We ordered the grilled shrimp, the pastor and baja fish. The shrimp was ok, but the pork was incredibly dry and crumbly. As for the baja fish taco, they forgot to finish it as it was garnished with just a single radish slice instead of the pico de gallo and salsa ranchero. I could add a disclaimer that I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food in any way, I can only comment on what I enjoy eating and how much I liked the food. Service was fine but there was only one server for the whole patio, so it was a bit slow. No other complaints from us regarding service. I don't think I'd go out of my way to go back here anytime soon, but if I was in the area, I might try something else on the menu.

Yelp
Yo vine desde Tiktok,y lo quiero hacer público ellos hacen trabajar 1 semana gratis a sus empleados solo con propinas . Una verdadero abuso

Soukaina E.

Yelp
This is the location across the street* The food was really good, they start by giving you some chips (looks like it's homemade) while you look at the menu/wait for your order. I really want to go back again to try their 1$ tacos. The only thing about this place is maybe the service is a little slow but everyone is really nice and friendly.

Yelp
Two Different Reviews here: I've been a fan of Latin world since visiting last summer, when we went to the original store. Interesting selection of tacos as at very reasonable prices. Reminiscent of the best hole in the wall places in Mexico and the US. They have also opened a much larger sit down place across the street which a friend and I tried on Friday which the family had just opened. A much more extensive menu and lots of home made salsas to boot. Interesting selection of tacos again like Carnitas, Nopales and El Pastor. I also tried the Enchiladas. The food was .. okay but maybe they are working out teething issues. You still have to go across the street to pay.

Simon H.

Yelp
Ordered two orders of churros and it took an hour to prepare them. We checked in on the status of our order and they kept telling us 10 more minutes.

Yelp
Yo if you want to teleport to Mexico, this is your shop. This place is jam-packed with almost every Mexican grocery product you could want, plus they cook hot authentic Mexican food in the back for you. You have every snacky snack you want from chips to candy to cookies. They also have lots of spices, and bottled and canned products along with some fresh produce. I totally recommend this shop.

Kartikeya L.

Yelp
Great food and very decently priced. Nice clean and simple ambience. Only one server but our food wasn't delayed by any manner.

Gabriel S.

Yelp
This Mexican place sells burritos, but as our server confessed, Mexicans don't actually eat them. So if you're here, try something more exciting! The food here has a very home-cooked feel. Complimentary tortilla chips (for dine in) were thick & crunchy & came with 3 spicy sauce. Our server was very proactive in refilling the tortilla chips - service here is great. Chilaquiles were tortilla pieces in a spicy sauce. The dish was very spicy but good, though the tortilla chips got soggy fast. Enchiladas verdes was quite similar to the chilaquiles actually, but less spicy and with rice instead of tortilla pieces. Huevos a la mexicana was scrambled eggs with beans and with a purple tortilla to wrap it all. All were ok. Pozole with chicken was chicken soup with Mexican corn. It was pretty good. The use of Mexican corn was nice and gave the soup more body than normal. Horchata (sweet rice drink) was a little dilute. Tres leches cake was good - very moist. Churros were pretty good but the chocolate sauce was thin.

Yelp
It was real Mexican food, as a Mexican speaking it was a great experience and I would definitely come again If I had to criticize one thing is the lack of personnel but don't let that stop you from coming a 10/10 experience

Yelp
You know that moment when you're really craving something, and when you finally get it and it's awful? that's basically what my experience was at Latin World. I ordered 4 tacos (2 pastor & 2 carnitas) - $12 Walking home, I noticed that my container was awfully light, but was still optimistic. As soon as I arrived home, I opened the container and there they were, 4 tacos that looked dilapidated in every kind of way. I should mention, I walked home, so the takeout container was stable. It basically looked like someone microwaved some meat, threw it on a pita, and there it was. The taste wasn't great, pita broke and it wasn't filling at all. This is probably the worst taco spot I've been to. I'd like my $12 back, please.

Catherine W.

Yelp
First the good part- the food is great, and I order here regularly. My only issue is so far, every time I've made an order with Ritual, it's never ready when I go to pick it up. I've waited 15 minutes before after showing up on time. Even when I leave later, I'm still early. I love the Burro Suiza so much though, I can't give them a lower rating U_U

Jessica Y.

Yelp
This would be dining as if someone had opened up their home to you. Quirky interior deco, but love how partially is a grocery store. Food is amazing and they have daily specials. You can buy mostly mexican or south american tid bits, snacks, foodstuff and drinks. Churros is about of a wait, but at least they make it fresh!

Gabriela S.

Yelp
A great authentic Mexican food, I come 2 or 3 times per week; to the $1 taco special or pozole special 2 X1. I also get some products to cook at home, is great to have a places like this away from home Friendly service.

Jon C.

Yelp
When I read about this place I knew I had to try it. What got me? The $1 tacos. What I did not realize, only on weekdays. Fail. We had the tacos anyways and delicious. I really like the chorizo and the fish one. The enchilada, overflowing goodness. The place is small, a few tables. It also feels a bit germy cause all the chairs and tables had fabric and while comfortable, warm, and maybe authentic? It also was like, what fell on this chair before? Regardless, I'd come back. Hopefully for t Some $1 taco.

Diane S.

Yelp
Loved the food! So tasty! It's connected with the store which sells all sorts of items from Latin America! Would definitely come again.

Sabrina D.

Yelp
Ordered here after looking for some Mexican food in the area and it didn't disappoint. It's a small mom and pop hole-in-the wall type of place with grocery offerings and a small table to order food. Flavours were on point and the portion size was good. It cost around $50 for 8 tacos, 2 Gorditas, 2 drinks and a pico de gallo. Only reason why it's 4 instead of 5 is because the pico was missing but we'll be getting it next time with our next order. Overall I would recommend!!

Nish T.

Yelp
Walking by this place and seeing full tables with a sign that reads $1.00 tacos was enticing enough to lure me in! I was lucky enough to grab a table, dirty as it was and was quick to receive a menu, albeit one with salsa on it. All signs so far that I should high tail it outta there--but I chose to meet my fate. We ordered seven el pastor tacos as they were the feature for the evening and a chicken tamale to test this places authenticity. Everything came out quickly including the somewhat large tamale. The tacos were the mini kind, yes that's why we ordered seven!! The flavour wasn't too bad but the food, as mentioned by previous Yelpers, was cold. The tamale was a huge disappointment despite the size for $4.50. It was obviously nuked from frozen and with the second bite, I tasted nothing but poorly thawed corn meal--gross! We quickly walked up to the cash, paid and got the heck out of there never to return again! Lessons learned including trust previous Yelp reviews!

Paul D.

Yelp
Just came back from lunch here, the tacos I ordered were simple but pretty decent. My 2 Star review comes from the fact that the posted special as you walk in was not actually happening, which I learned when I payed. Instead of $8 for 8 (very) small tacos, I payed 27$. Even when I asked for the daily taco special when ordering, so I definitely feel misled if not scammed. It also doesn't help that the menu shows none of the prices. This definitely soured the experience, I will not be returning to this establishment.

Myriam D.

Yelp
DISGUSTING. Went to this place to order Huevos Rancheros for breakfast. It was literally the WORST thing I have ever tasted. See attached photo... it looks as if the "chef" had vomited + spat on a few tortillas/eggs. I never saw Huevos Rancheros come in such a "liquid" sauce/soup. It was SO disgusting. I did not eat any of it. The service was also VERY long. It took over 25 minutes to prepare (it was a to-go order) . When the employee finally gave my order to me, I asked if he had included a fork/knife in the bag, and he said yes. When I opened my order once outside, there was no knife/fork, or no other type of utensils to eat with. Very unprofessional. On top of that, the "chef" had no closed the little box properly, so there was liquid dripping all over. I went back to the store to complain about the dripping + lack of utensils, but unfortunately for me, the level of English of the employees working there was too limited to understand what I was saying, so I was unable to get utensils to eat. Slightly weird. Definitely one of the worst "restaurants" experience of my entire life. Save yourself the time, money and possible vomiting experience. Don't go there.

Gabriela S.

Yelp
Absolutely legendary. Different deal each day of the week. usually slam back a half dozen tacos and Gordita or tamal. Pazole can be hit and miss but when it's good it's great. Truly authentic... simple and delicious.

Yelp
I went last Monday for the first time around 1030am. I saw in the Latinos magazine that they have $1 dollar tacos promotion, so I decided to give a shot. When I ordered one taco, the server questioned why, I had to explain myself I want to try it first I like it or not. I felt uncomfortable doing that so she screamed the order to the cook " only one, she just want to try it if she likes it" It was a mini taco, I was expecting that... But 2 chunks of fat/nerves on it... My disgusting picture is attached (sorry) but I don't lie or exagerate. I tried the sauces in my taco and gordita and love them! The place was empty at that time, nevertheless the server urged me to pay my bill before I even finish my gordita... Very disappointed on that. I hope management uses Yelp and acts on it. The reason I write reviews is for new customers consideration and management improvement. I'll try their new location hoping the service is better... But won't try pastor tacos again

Kabir G.

Yelp
it gives me no pleasure in saying this but good Mexican food is perhaps Toronto's greatest weak spot. For some reason i just cannot seem to find a legit taco spot that does justice to the cuisine. I know the mexican community is TO is growing and in time we will have the same calibre of restaurants as corona, ny or the mission district in sf. But until that time this is a goodish option. The prices are cheap and the staff are helpful.

Jovita S.

Yelp
This is one of my favourite places to grab authentic Mexican food in the west end of the city. Personal go-to's are Carnita Tacos, they have an amazing vegetarian platter for the veggie folks. They also have some latin snacks and grocery store items

Nicole B.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, the quality of food, not good. Everything was cold, the tacos tasted like plain tortilla, literally... Now look at these pictures and tell me what's wrong with them. They way the assembled the tacos was straight up disrespectful. The guacamole with "CHIPS", which was $8.99, was half way empty, with 3 chips. Never ordering from here again. Para la tienda: no mames... que tipo de comida es esta? Osea, a quien se le ocurrió vender esto, así como me dieron los tacos y el "guacamole", quien dijo "ah si, esto se ve de buena calidad". Porfavor.......

Itanni B.

Yelp
We got their corn during a street festival and after one bite we had to find the nearest garbage can to dump it. The image looked amazing - cheese and butter on a huge kernels - how can it go so wrong?! Well, somehow they managed to ruin corn. Because of this experience I will not be trying out any of their other menu offerings.

Loca F.

Yelp
The chicken pozole is the best. Like home made, the service is slow and this enhances the mañana philosophy of Latin America...mañana mañana ... Yet the experience is great you feel like in a real tienda.

Natalie B.

Yelp
The real deal, latin food in a convenience store sorta vibe. (that's because it's literally this) Highlight: $1 tacos - can't beat that Delicious housemade sauces

Hugh M.

Yelp
What a great place. This has become my go to store for buying Mexican food products - fresh cheese for grilled corn on the cob, super tasty chips, treats and drinks. I've also taken the opportunity to try their 4 tacos for $10. Super tasty, great variety served on lovely soft tacos with fresh line and salsa verde. Service is really friendly. A true hidden gem.

Valentina F.

Yelp
Ordered through a delivery service. It was just brutal, and we are NOT PICKY EATERS especially when it comes to Burritos. There were multiple issues with our order to the point it was almost comical. We ordered nachos, a veg burrito, a fish burrito, and 4 cans of pop. We received 1) a bag of chips, not nachos. They were stale; 2) the fish and vegetarian burritos were packaged in the opposite packaging, meaning the vegetarian in the group bit into the fish burrito. This is obviously not okay; 3) the fish eater confirmed the fish itself was "off" so it was left uneaten. The vegetarian burrito seemed to just contain a ton of rice, mushroom, and some onion. Very odd to include no beans, cheese, peppers... the rotten fish burrito also only seemed to include rice, or at least whatever else was in it was in tiny amounts 4) instead of 4 pops, we received one, and it was warm. The delivery service refunded us for 3 pops and the nachos, but we ended up throwing away everything except half a veg burrito.

Natasha S.

Yelp
I've been coming to Latin World for 5 years now and it has been consistently awesome. When I started coming to Latin World, I was first learning Spanish, so I would order tacos and read the free Spanish newspapers. The food is always incredible and authentic and it's always inexpensive. There is something so refreshing about dining at a Mexican restaurant that isn't expensive, corporate or gringo-run. The ingredients used are always fresh and simple. If you're looking for real Mexican food for Mexican prices, this is your place. The only issue I've come across with Latin World is that I never see the same servers working there, which means that turnover must be high. I hope that the staff there are happy. Needless to say, this is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto.

Kaley K.

Yelp
Delicious tacos, salsa, guacamole. Excellent price. Nice staff. Restaurant a little sweaty on a hot summer day. I would like to come back here soon.

M K.

Yelp
Super little Mexican/Latino place serving excellent, nothing fancy, honest home cooked food, a diversity of Latino groceries, and a cool little off the beaten track super friendly vibe... I really like this place... $1 Taco Tuesdays today!! What?! What could be better?? I'm going back again today!

Tom T.

Yelp
Service sucked, on the door they have an interac sticker but they said their machine isn't working but they don't put a sign on the door cash only. Made us go to the nearest bank machine to take out money.

Neesa R.

Yelp
Got here completely by accident. Didn't even know of this place until my friend dragged me in telling me the whole way how cheap and delicious the food here is. He wasn't lying!:) They have specials every day (like $1 tacos but these are not vegetarian) and their general food is extremely cheap in relation to the size of portions! Half of the menu carriers dishes I don't recognize by the name but all looks like a delicious mix of beans/rice/sauces/tortillas in different proportions. Note of caution: most of the food is pretty spicy and they don't really adjust it down even when they say they do. Portions are better shared between two people (seriously). You can also buy lots of stuff there as it used to be a little grocery store of Mexican specialties and they kept it (pickled cactus anyone?).

Heather K.

Yelp
They had only a menu hand written on a board without any prices. I ordered the vegetarian tacos which are 3 tacos with cheese, mushrooms and lettuce. Not large. Or filling. Went to pay and they were $14! Not a good value at all, I was still hungry leaving.

M O.

Yelp
If you are looking for dirt cheap tacos , this is the place for you. You won't get good service, you won't get an impressive spread, but I am sure glad they exist to serve me small 1$ tacos. You get what you pay for and I am happy to pay for their perfectly decent 1$ tacos. ...just don't bring a date here.

Dana W.

Yelp
A no frills authentic Latin restaurant. The daily deals are amazing-- who can say no to $1 tacos? or 2 for 1 Pozole? The service is a little slow, but the food is worth the wait. Although I haven't bought any food stuffs from here, it also serves as a grocery store. Love this place!

Blue B.

Yelp
I ordered a fish burrito, which was totally average. It was lukewarm and the ingredients didn't taste very fresh. They use rice that sort of standard yellowish, very pasty rice. I was full by the end of it but by no means impressed by the flavours. Disappointing. For the same price or less you could go to Burrito Boys or Chipotle, which at least have fresh ingreds. Definitely an authentic "vibe" and a great place to pick up some hot sauces. Might be more enjoyable for a meat eater.

Roxanne O.

Yelp
I had the chicken flautas. They were some of the best flautas I've had in ages. They were like the perfect amount of crispy and spiced. I would have liked if they put tomatoes on top but the cheese/sour cream/lettuce on top was still really good. Also it was 6 for $10 which was more than I could eat. They also carry Jarritos in pineapple which is my favourite flavour. One thing though is they don't have the twist cap like the ones from the grocery store but there is a bottle opener attached to the shelf.

Scott R.

Yelp
A hidden gem of a restaurant. It is actually half restaurant, half Mexican/Latin American grocery store. The food is very authentic and very good and they have cheap daily specials (often $1 taco specials). The Pozole is the best I've ever had and everything is made fresh. I also like that they give you a tray of three different kinds of salsa. Super causal setting and the staff is friendly. I've eaten there at least 20 times and have never had a bad experience (other than long waits due to limited staff and small kitchen). Highly recommend if you want authentic Mexican/Latin cuisine.

Yelp
Like like like.. food tastes great.. and I had tried many of the things in the menu. I liked that I order 4 tacos, I can pick different ingredients for each. Complementary nachos to get you going while you wait (which is really not that long) is a big plus. Try the orchata or tamarindo drinks and first timers should get the tacos so they can try different things.. I personally keep getting the carnitas and chochinita. Make sure they get your order right though..
