Nice little restaurant on a main street near a shopping center. It's nice to eat cooked food (instead of a sandwich or pizza). The service was quick and friendly. Only 3 stars because: The food was good but not great, somewhat salty and greasy. The price was high, $17 for what you see in the picture. They did not serve a glass of water with the meal. The music (Latino) was lively and cheerful, but too loud. The restrooms were clean but tight, not easily accessible. Easy steps for improvement: lower the music volume, lower the prices a bit, offer more vegetarian options, serve water like at any other dine-in restaurant. Good people, good experience, gracias 🙏

Google
Was really hungry and looking for some Latin food to eat as I got out of work recently so decided to try this place out . For starters the server was rude that took my order . She had an attitude for some reason but that’s a turn off for customers . Second the food was 12 which is reasonable but the plate she served me to go was definitely not 12 dollars and there was more bones there than any real meat . Beans to go and it was more like broth to go for my rice . As far as the flavoring , if you don’t want heart burns AVOID IT and a little too salty on the stewed chicken. Definitely will not eat here again 👎🏽

Google
My mother is a regular here so I have nothing bad to say about it, the food is tasty, the service is good. Just be ready to walk into a Dominican environment with loud music and people yelling over a baseball game. It's fun to be honest. The food has gotten a bit pricey but it's still worth it. If you want to get out of the day to day routine, get in there, sit down, order food, a couple of beers and prepare to listen to wonderful Dominican music and laugh because people in there are funny. Most of them are regulars, but don't let that intimidate you. Everyone is kind.

I ordered mangu and it was watery and flavorless. As for the pickled onion on top it wasn’t pickled. Just raw cut onions on top of my mangu

Google
Okra was the best I've had in Boston! Tostones were great too.

Google
I ordered a plate and ordered it with sweet plantains. The lady told me it would take 6 min for the plantains and I saw her sneak them into the microwave. I’m not sure we’re it came from but she brought them from the back. I did not eat them because they looked mushy and weird. I would not recommend this place.

Google
Great food! Prices are a little bit off (their prices on the menu have not been updated— a 18 dollar dish was 20). We had great service but i definitely think me speaking some Spanish helped. The food tasted great! I had ox tail with black beans and rice.

I have been coming here for years. The food is always good and the service fast and friendly. Will continue to eat here and I would definitely recommend

Yelp
" Delicious food and Freshly made juices " The food here is delicious. Lots of bold flavors . The juices are absolutely delicious, made fresh . The service is friendly like a neighborhood vibe. Prices are ok on some items . Some items a little pricey . The food portions are generous though .

Yelp
Wife loves this place Nothing to write home about Food is ok They prepare the best plates for those that they are familiar with. Those who peak a lil panish

Yelp
After about 10, 15 years, this place still hasn't changed. They're good for a reasonably priced plate of decent food. If you are like me, they will be stingy with their meat and rice portions. Sometimes giving you bones instead of big juicy meats. Barely putting the spoon into that meat sauce almost counting the scraps of meat they will give you. If you are someone else- they are glad to make healthy, generous plates. no es bueno para los negocios

Yelp
The worst chicharrones ever, not good food and bad quality. The salad was very old. Service leaves lots to desire.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant! Miss Sarit and I were staying just a block and a half from this establishment, and with a name like "Latino Restaurant" we decided to give it a try! We walked in and were sat immediately, entering the place you'll notice some authentic decor as well as a bunch of guys watching fútbol or Mexican soap operas (making comments about the actresses' "endowment"). Everyone here was drinking out of red solo cups, which I thought was funny. I ordered the burrito, but asked to make it vegetarian. The burrito came out the size of my thigh and cost a whole 7$ or so. It tasted fresh, was actually quite scrumptious and it filled me up for an entire day! Keep in mind that it has a lot of rice in it, so if you're on an Atkin's-inspired diet, this may not be for you. I'll come back and try something more authentic for sure!

Yelp
Bottom line: good food, prices, and service. Every once in a while, a brother needs some rice. Puerto Rican rice to be exact. Many failed attempts at making the Puerto Rican classic has taught me a lesson: it's better to just frigging buy it because it's not going to come out as good at home. But I'm still relatively new to Boston and I haven't found a good PR restaurant. I'd been told that JP has many worthy Latin restaurants so that's how I came across the aptly named Latino Restaurant. As far as I can tell, Latinos is a Dominican restaurant. And, at the mid day hour I visited Latino's, it functioned as a cafeteria, with their dishes on display buffet-style. I asked them what specials they had. They told me that for $9 bucks (including tax) I could get: salad, a drink, a side dish, and a protein item. I asked them for the Puerto Rican rice (arroz con gandules) and the beef stew. A sexy-pants Dominican chick brought it out a couple of minutes later. A massive mound of rice. A bowl of the stew and a plate with a fresh side salad. The food was good and plentiful. I have no real complaints. But there was something missing in my rice. It didn't have the little bits of pork/ham that I was expecting and the beef stew didn't blow me away. So while I liked the food, and sexy-pants, I can't say I loved it. So I'm going to have to keep looking for my PR rice fix. For what it's worth, a lot of people were coming and going while I was there so a lot of other people seem to love it. Give it a shot.

Yelp
This has been my go to spot for years. It's a small place with great food and music. The food never disappoints, everyone I have sent here has nothing but great things to say.

Yelp
This place is a huge NO for me!!!!! I definitely prefer Alex Chimi's up the street! My co workers and I requested a fairly large order for lunch and while they got the order right... the food was subpar and that is the nicest way to put it! I ordered salmon and I couldn't even finish the first bite. The salmon was not fresh and was GREY!!!! Wtf!!! The rice was hard and overall it was a HOT MESS!!!! I was so pissed because when you are at work and order lunch.. it is crucial to how the rest of the work day goes. Please do better Latino restaurant. In the meantime I'll be at Alex Chimi's!!!!!

Yelp
The worst experience in my life! Bad customer service, They tried to scam me and over charge me almost 20$ for a dmn breakfast and a juice!
google avatar

Yelp
I just paid 20$ for a plate with plain white rice with flavorless bean sauce, and chicken. Also the lettuce in the salad was browned. I am disappointed. I Should have ordered out. The food here USED to be good.

Yelp
Hubby and I went for dinner, we decided to eat in. The amount of food was worth the price. Being american, and cant speak a word of espanol. I relied on my pointing abilities to get what i wanted. We ate til our bellys could hold no more. the music is loud. Must go outside to hear on the cell phone. who needs to talk on the phone anyway, when your mouth is full of delicios food. We will make this place our date night spot.

Yelp
Great place for a quick meal, they have plenty of food ready all you have to do is just pick what you like. I had bake chicken which great and my GF had stew which also good too each was $5.50. Despite the look from the outside, it serves good food and great services.

Yelp
I ordered the Carne Guisada with yellow rice and it was fantastic! The rice was a little overcooked and somewhat mushy but had great flavor and the mushiness didn't bother me at all. The salad dressing they use is amazing! The beef in the guisada was fresh and had amazing flavor! I will be back again!!

Yelp
Got takeout from here and it's very good. Typical spanish / dominican food like other reviews mentioned. Biste con arroz y abichuela & the Sancocho are standouts here. For most , the portions are enough to eat leftovers tommorrow , to me it is just the appetizer.
google avatar

Natasha M.

Yelp
So far, so good! So many more options than the other Dominican restaurants around here (I'm talking about you, Yely's). Perfect portion sizes and for $10, you can get a large plate of rice, beans, meat and salad. I opted for a vegetable since I'm vegetarian (eggplant btw, so good). Service is very friendly and not rushed.

Yelp
This place has gone down the drain .. the food is not as good as it was before and I'm sorry but this place is more for all the old men to chill and get drunk... no thank you
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious, consistent, fast, and hot. Friendly service. I recommend the stewed beef and stewed chicken. The black beans and rice are always great too.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. The food is always fresh and the prices are afforable. Get a 5 dollar plate or a 7 dollar plate. 7 dollar plates come with salad. Home cooked food fast!

Yelp
Ahh, I have fond memories of this location being a Cuban spot that played music so loud, it might have mistaken its identity for a club.... so when I started doing some work nearby and noticed the change, I stopped in. I ordered a pork quesadilla and a coconut water... satisfying enough but I asked for them to make my quesadilla unbearably spicy. From where I was sitting, I could see them trying to empty out an entire bottle of 'hot sauce.' Instead of heat, I got vinegar, which is all right but I would have preferred some jalapeños instead! The whole meal set me back $14 and for me, would have been enough for two small meals. This seems like a popular spot for people to just chill and shoot the sh!t, and they're run by a family of nice folks, both important things in my book. Their bathroom is a single stall situation, though definitely not kept up as often as it should... fortunately for me, I know how to use a plunger.

Yelp
The food is excellent. Always fresh and great Dominican flavors. However, best to get take out because the place is very loud due to multiple tv and extremely loud music. Have to yell your order. Service is slow and bathroom is pretty bad.

Yelp
One of the most down to earth delicious Latino restaurants that I have been to. The staff there are always friendly and the food there is always fresh and tasty. When you walk in - you pick your starch (rice, plantaines or both). Next you pick your proteins, and vegetables (if you want). They will serve it all in one plate. Each day of the week they will have a different protein (with the exception of stewed chicken and beef, which they have everyday). Tuesdays are my particular favorite as they serve tendon!! I've been coming here for 13 years. Being a resturant owner myself - I am truely impressed by the authentic food served in this eatery and its simplistic set up.

Yelp
I had great hopes for this place but sadly was extremely disappointed. Me and the boy decided to stop here late night for a quick dinner since nothing else was open. We were 2 seconds away from just getting subway across the street and calling it a night but the boy was mezmerized by the signage, and both of us being fans of authentic latino food ( like eastie) decided to take the plunge and try a new place. Boy ordered a standard chicken quesadilla and I ordered a salad with shrimp. I'd like to point out there are zero prices listed and everything was handwritten on poster sheets so that should have been my first red flag. The woman who took the order seemed nice enough but had zero customer service skills. We decided to get the order to go since it was a bit hot and stuffy and smelled a bit like sewage there. There was only one table of ladies sitting there done with their food and another couple that came in after us so at no point was it busy. We proceeded to wait over 20-25 minutes for our food. The woman behind the counter kept looking over at us but never telling us or giving us an update about the food. The owner/ manager was walking back and forth and never greeted us or tried to intercept or hurry anything along. We were both getting pretty impatient due to the lack of communication so at one point I asked the man if he could check our order. He montioned to the girl who waved for me to come up to pay but then she ignored me for another 10 minutes. Finally she packs up our food....at this point I'm annoyed but I just want to leave and when I asked her how much everything was- keep in mind i ordered a SALAD and a QUESADILLA- she had the audacity to tell me it was $25 total. WHAT? I asked her if she was serious - and asked her how much each dish was- she told me the salad was $12 and that the quesadilla was also $12....WTF? Had I known it was going to cost that much I would have gladly just gone to eastie to have an actual good meal. I told her there were no prices listed and that was ridiculous and what I should have done was look at the menu but was so heated I didn't think of it at the moment- I was so pissed I just paid and left. It was totally a scam and I got the vibe from other reviews that they kind of just make up their prices. Now back at the apt- the boy looked at my salad and said it looked decent - the salad was mediocre- it had tiny little shrimps and literally lettuce and onions.I have no idea what dressing they used but the lettuce was DRENCHED with it. Like I had to drain it out to eat it. Also, the quesadilla was a decent size BUT it was disgustingtly salty. So salty that the boy could not even eat it and had to throw it out. all in all, yep a waste of $25 that I would have gladly used at subway. I will not ever be returning.

Yelp
The waitresses are friendly, the decor basic, the dining room bustling with noisy families. My quarter chicken with rice and beans was tasty though extremely salty, and bf enjoyed his Cuban sandwich on crusty bread (the heavy mayo kept me from taking a bite). Two meals, two Goya drinks came to a $13 check. Whoa.

Yelp
When ever I'm near Jamaica Plain this is my go to place for some good Spanish food. This place is cheap and the service is fast. There Batidos are sooo milky ! My mom and I got 2 jugos de parcha (passion fruit) and we got 7$ places that include white rice, beans, and chicken with a light sauce. This food hit the spot for us! The only thing I would change is the parking. It's hard to find parking if there is none in the front lot or in the front of the store. Other than that thumbs up!

TeTeDaMouse C.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place and so glad I did! Eight dollars and change bought me a "medium" combo plate and some plaintains. I had super moist baked BBQ chicken with some rice with black beans. The sauce was delicious. I liked it so much that I drove my leftovers back home with me when I left Boston for the day. If I didn't have to rush off so early for a business meeting, I would have waited for fresh (!) chicharonnes that would have taken 5 or 10 minutes to fry up. Also, staff was very friendly and interior was clean. If I worked in the neighborhood, I would be here all the time: good and affordable food provided by friendly people in a clean environment, what more can you ask for?

Wamani K.

Yelp
They messed up my order even though I was very clear what I wanted. They also overcharged me for the order. The person I spoke to about it said she didn't know the prices of burritos even though she works there, and added that prices change all the time. She spoke to me as if I were a fool. Very poor customer service.

Yelp
This place is really cool. If your Hispanic its the cool chill spot. I usually go there to eat with my father sometimes so yea its PRETTY GOOD. Nice music, Excellent service, and Dominican waitresses. The prices are OK for a restaurant, but not to bad. All in all, this place is a really cool place to eat, but the only downside is that there is alot of middle-aged dudes. Besides that this place has great food and a good hang out.

Yelp
Who was the moron that wrote this restaurant was mexican. This is a dominican little restaurant where the food is awsome, my family and i try to go once a week. My mom is crazy about their soups.

Yelp
Good spanish/dominican food ,,and it can get crowded at times with loud talk and loud music and i think they sell beer there too,, but the prices cant be beat ,,and the daily specials are nice combinations,it is a sit down place but i think its good to take out ,,,good stuff.....

Yelp
I love this place!!! Their food is always so good and it doesn't cost a lot!
google avatar

Jose G.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout in the past form here, and now eat in. Their food is authentic Latino cuisine, hence the name. The atmosphere there is warm and welcoming. I didn't feel rushed and ordered more food, while bachata and merengue played in the background. They also make large orders of empanadas when we have food days at work. When you want simple, quick but good latin food, hit up the Latino Restaurant!

Michelle I.

Yelp
I LOVE this place - the staff is wonderful - other customers are friendly - my ONLY complaint is that always seem to run out of the Sheppard's pie before I get there
google avatar

Osvaldo A.

Yelp
Mondongo wow the only place in Massachusetts that makes me feel like in back home! Full of flavor! White rice and avocado, hot sauce and a wedge of line that's it get ready to be blown away!

Yelp
One of the things I love the most about being a resodent of JP is how many good Latin food restaurants we have. Latino is definitely one of them and it happens to be very inexpensive -$15 bucks will get you enough food for 2!-

The G.

Yelp
this is the best latino restaurant, i've tried in boston! living here 31 years and i wont choose any other spot. yelys suck, alex c. isnt as great as people say, merengues not even an option and everything else in between is weak. owner mami and her children plus extended family, throws down in the kitchen. ive eaten here over 10 times and not one time was i disappointed. portions are great and flavors are consistent. from the rice n beans, and yuca to the spaghetti and meats, the homemade drinks, salads, smoothies, everything. the service is great too! i love them and so does my familia. they def deserve 4-5 stars, yelp is under rating latino restaurant.

Jadia B.

Yelp
The WORST experience in my life ! Bad customer service; They tried to scam me and over charge me 3 times for a plate that only cost 7 dollars .Then told me it didn't go through and tried to tell me to pay cash.NEVER again !

Jasmin M.

Yelp
Had a great time with my mom at this restaurant. Nice family style dining with delicious food with great portions. Will go back again!!!
