Where To Day Drink In Winter

"If you’re really into beer and you enjoy watching sports on TV, Rattle N Hum is one of your best options in Midtown. This place isn’t quite as nice as The Shakespeare, but it’s a good spot to hang out with a few friends who couldn’t care less whether a bar has neon beer signs and barrels repurposed as furniture." - bryan kim, matt tervooren

Where To Drink With Coworkers In The Garment District

"Rattle N Hum West is another good spot for people who consider themselves to be beer nerds. They typically have around 40 beers on tap, and some more bottled options. They also serve wine and cocktails, and it’s overall an easy place to get drinks with a group. It’s nicer than a dive bar, but it isn’t too pricey, and they have a weekday Happy Hour starting at 11am. So if you’d rather have that 2pm expense meeting over a beer, that’s possible. (Whether or not to expense the beer is up to you.)" - hannah albertine, bryan kim, matt tervooren

The Manhattan Bar Directory

"This bar does smell like stale beer sometimes. But Rattle ‘N’ Hum is actually a very solid bar, and one of the best places to hang out after a game at the Garden. They specialize in craft beer, and actually have some surprisingly good bar food." - katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg

We stayed at the Holiday Inn connected to this restaurant and wandered in one night for some late-night snacks and drinks. The service was fantastic—quick, friendly, and efficient—and the food was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the great atmosphere, and the bartenders were super fun to chat with! We liked it so much, we came back four times during our trip. Highly recommend this spot for a casual bite and excellent service!

So we visited this establishment on a late afternoon where it was extremely quiet and empty, we were asked if we wanted to drink or eat and we said we don't know yet but we'd prefer to sit at the table and not the bar. Usually this is not a problem especially on a slow day like that but the server was being rude and immediately said NO. I was like why...it's empty...and I had a few shopping bags with me too. Thankfully the manager saw us and let us pick wherever. I don't remember what that particular server name was but he has a long wavy hair. He also looked unhappy all the time and the manager had to be the one watching us to make sure our glasses were always full. That server needs to work on his attitude and if he actually hates his job, find another job where he doesn't need to interact with customers. It's like you want a great tip but you're rude... The drinks were great and tacos were okay.

Hands-down the best experience I’ve ever had. The bartender and servers are very polite, down-to-earth, and incredibly easy to talk to. They made us feel welcomed and taken care of from start to finish. The level of service provided was above and beyond. If you’re looking for a spot with great energy, amazing service, and staff that actually care about your experience, this is the place!! I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you’re local or just visiting the city, do yourself a favor and stop by. You’ll be glad you did.

While waiting for our room to be ready we stopped by the bar/restaurant! What a cool old vintage wood bar and restaurant. So much character! We were there early afternoon and sat at the bar. The mixologist was friendly and attentive. We ordered beers and a couple of apps. The clams oregano was very good and just the right amount of seasonings but didn't take away from the clams. Also, tried the burrata. It was fresh and tasty. Didn't come with any bread or toast but in the end we didn't miss it, the fresh veggies and arugula was a great combo for the cheese. Check this place out, next time, we will try dinner or lunch.

Round 2: So good I came back with my work partner for happy hour and apps. Carolyn the “master” bartender was giving our good friend Nevin bartending tips for the cities best Manhattan followed by a tremendous dirty martini with stuffed blue cheese olives. Cheese / meat platter below was outstanding. Please frequent. Great staff. Great drinks. Good apps. Round 1- Tuesday: Now open for dinner! Recommended by friends of owner. Stopped in for dinner. 2nd night. Glad I did! Salim and Nevin took great care of me. Caesar Salad with extra anchovies ok(a little too much dressing), Monk fish superb. Panna Cotta excellent. Chianti excellent. Background music excellent. Owner Nordine stopped by. Going to be a successful venture. With and food at a high level you can’t go wrong. Stop in and enjoy.

Yelp
Completely delightful: food, service, ambiance. My wife and I had delicious salads to start (pear / arugula with a lovely balance, and a Caesar with white anchovies and deeply-flavored dressing) and then proceeded to her gluten-free pasta with mushrooms, again delightfully flavored, and my "eggplant lasagna," which was actually lighter-than air eggplant slices, delicately fried and sauced, no pasta. We finished with no room for dessert but good tea and first-rate coffee. Even better: a quietly solicitous staff, waitperson Salim, gracious, unobtrusive, and witty, also manager Mehdi, as kind as you could ever want. The restaurant is long and narrow, creating an unusual feeling of intimacy, even when couples were chatting at the bar across from us. Pretty music (sixties pop with Nat Cole and others) at a level that made conversation easy. This place is a real gem. They've only been open three months and it was quiet on a Thursday night. Better get here before the crowds pack the place! We will be back.

Yelp
Great food, confusing happy hour menu. I came here for the happy hour, as it was near my hotel, and it was worth the trip. The menu outside and the menu inside werent clear nor comprehensive, and part of it was my fault for arriving with 10 minutes to spare. But it was excellent service and even better food. I got them to substitute asparagus for French fries - who does that? - with my absolutely delicious angry burger. The place was quiet, customer-wise, but had a nice vibe, with modern music and super friendly service. Lovely bar with a good variety of tap beers despite only having 10 taps. I will definitely stop here again before I leave town if I have the time.

Yelp
Wandered into Latitude 39 before closing and Nevin was kind enough to give us a little night cap! Both him and the owner were extremely nice and had great conversation. Highly recommend and excited to go back

Yelp
We absolutely adore Neven!! stopped and saw him multiple times during our trip. His manager and Caroline were very nice as well. I hate Meatballs, I tried there's and couldn't stop thinking about them. Chicken wings were the best!! everything is well made, fresh and drinks are amazing. You can dress up or down here and still feeling like you belong there. They even have the sports on!

Yelp
The food and service was amazing. I will definitely come back and highly recommend this place. Had a porterhouse special and it was an amazing steak.

Yelp
Where do I start? My family and I are staying in the hotel associated with this restaurant (Holiday Inn). Our visit was on a Monday for Brunch. I ordered a Bloody Mary and the waiter went to the bar and came back shortly and said no bloody Mary's. At that point, I began to have my concerns. However, I continued with my order and he suggested the steak and eggs. I said ok and asked what cut of meat the steak was and he said "beef". I asked if it was sirloin, rib eye, or what? He said no it is one cut of beef. My expectations became extremely low at that point and I changed my order to a short rib sandwich and my kids ordered French Toast. The food came out and the French toast was basically wheat toast with ice cream on top. The short rib sandwich was mediocre. I ate here for dinner a couple of nights before and the food was good and it had 5 stars. The only reason I posted this because you don't need to be fooled into thinking this is a 5 star kind of place.
