The Best Detroit Restaurants and Bars With Amazing Views | Eater Detroit

"Docking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at this new Downriver addition, located in the former Portofino restaurant space. The new menu embraces seafood with dishes like bluefin tuna crudo, yellowtail Florida snapper, and a wine menu that leans heavily toward the California labels. The atrium has been converted to include rolling doors that open directly to the patio and allow an open-air dining experience. There’s also a large alfresco space with sundeck loungers for guests to enjoy the river view. Reservations are encouraged." - Eater Staff

Google
Great staff from hostess to wait crew to plate delivery (smiles) all of them! Well done great plating and appealing appearance of meals ordered. I have seen on one hand fish that looks this good in my 60 years. Pic says it all nice crispy fries too. Unique very tasty cole slaw. Caesar had a homemade tasting dressing. Grilled chicken add on. Burgers at next table appear enormous. Very relaxing setting- north-end and soothing music.

Google
Ate Breakfast 2 days here while on vacation and everything was just fine. The Croissant French Toast was AMAZING!The Eggs Benedict was Delicious and the Atmosphere n Setting is one of the best on the beach IMO..Thank You to Rhonda I Believe she was Awesome Server

Google
The atmosphere is really nice with a clear view of the boardwalk/water. The servers were nice. There are some mistakes on the menu so be sure to ask. The burger was very complete, a very good burger 4/5 easily. It must be said that it didn't come with condiments and was a little dry. Strong char taste if you like that. Very filling The fries were nothing to write home about but were good. Sweet potato fries were pretty good. The pickles they had, had a nontypical flavour. I think it was bread & butter but could be wrong. Very strong

Google
It was better than I expected. Very tasty food and beautiful view. We ordered appetizers: guacamole, pizza with mushrooms, tuna deep, fried calamari (was little dry). I had seafood pasta as well . In menu it says wine sauce but they said it red sauce I still asked someone sauce and they made with Alfredo- was delicious

Google
I just had the most amazing dining experience at this beachfront restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff was so friendly and attentive. I loved being able to enjoy the ocean view while I ate. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area!

Google
We came here for a quick lunch before flying home from our vacation, and I loved our experience! It happened to be my birthday today, and when we ordered dessert, I mentioned it. Shante, our awesome waitress, surprised us with this writing on our plate! She was so kind and was a great server. I would recommend coming here!

Google
The seafood pasta for $36 is pretty much disgusting. The sauce tastes like dried up SpaghettiOs. I asked the waiter if it maybe wasn’t supposed to have a white wine seafood broth and he replied, “no, no never white wine.” I stared at it all dried up and crusty on my plate and he just walked away. There was no tomatoes, garlic, nothing! I proceeded to eat the few shrimp, clams and literal 2 calamari out of the dish but I couldn’t stomach the pasta. My husband had the $45 Ribeye and also said it definitely wasn’t anything to write home about. The service is slow, food is overpriced and not worth your money.

Lovely beachside dining with delicious food and excellent service. Kimmie was fantastic and much appreciated after our long day of travel.

Yelp
Great service, awesome atmosphere, helpful staff, and...the view! We shared several appetizers, a salad, a flatbread (with the best mushrooms in the world, and a couple of salads. We enjoyed every bite. Our server was attentive, easy to talk to and took excellent care of us...as if we were her only table, and we were not. Definitely recommend and we plan on returning soon!

Yelp
Let's start with the good...the view from the outside seating is beautiful and our server was sweet, attentive and accommodating. There was a little wait for seating with open table, but I'm sure they are short-staffed like everyone else. Food...my son's pancakes were huge, he said they were good, although chocolate chips were a topping and not mixed in the batter. The bacon was super well-done. I do like that, but others don't. I bit into my poached egg....the shell was still on half of it. Gross . And the English muffin was so soggy it was inedible. The server had walked up as I crunched on my egg, she took it away and had it comped. A pancake breakfast, bacon, OJ and a coffee was $35. Definitely not worth it. I'll need to adventure out for other options.

Yelp
Great service, beautiful views, kind Weight staff and fabulous food I've been coming here for years and it is a very special place

Yelp
It's nice having restaurant at the hotel. Food was a little overpriced for what is offered. Service is slow but it is convenient. I'd definitely explore the broad walk and try other restaurants.

Yelp
I always like to start the year trying out a new restaurant, and Latitudes was my pick for New Year's Day 2025 while touristing Hollywood Beach with a friend. It's right on the Hollywood Beach boardwalk, and we were able to snag a one of the tables closest to the beach. We started off with a toast, myself with a slightly chilled Merlot and my friend with her Pinot Grigio. Although the menu had a lot of seafood dishes, there's plenty of items for everyone. I of course went for the burger, medium well. Even then, it was juicy and had a yummy smoky flavor. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, and I like the fact they had a perfectly melted slice of Swiss cheese on it. I also tried my friend's chicken quesadilla, which had a generous helping of chicken in a lightly crispy tortilla (and also got her seal of approval). Since calories don't count on January 1, we shared their warm chocolate lava cake. This one was made with dark chocolate, nicely warm and moist and garnished with strawberries & blueberries. The reason we're holding back a fifth star is because there were little flying insects by the outside table. To their credit , the hostess did give us a heads up and said they were working on remediating it but still, it was a nuisance. Even with plating, the service was top notch attentive with the courses and wine refill.

Yelp
I dined here with some friends and it is a beautiful hotel. The outdoor area of the restaurant overlooks the beach and palm trees which is a lovely view. With all these pros, the cocktails and food were average to below average. The cocktails were okay but after one it wasn't worth ordering another. The flatbreads are very small and lacked flavor. The salmon tacos seemed thrown together with no real flavor combination. The service was fast and our waiter was good but it wouldn't be worth coming back here again!
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance is Everything ! Sitting outside with the ocean breeze enjoying a meal . Wifey ordered the salmon tacos with sweet potato fries and I got the Mahi Mahi sandwich with seasoned fries . Very good ! The pina colado was so so the guess they had no fresh pineapple.

Yelp
We're staying next door & this looked good so it made the decision easy for lunch its well worth a stop here if u have a chance

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for years. Ambiance: amazing, they have seating available right on the boardwalk overlooking the beach, they also have a covered patio and a huge bar if you preferred to sit there. The place could use a renovation. Hopefully in time soon. Food: great! They have a lot of variety from salads, sandwiches, pastas. The food was very good. It is pricey but it's what you would expect from a hotel on the beach. Service: the staff that took care of us for lunch was absolutely amazing. The hostess and the server overheard us talk about my mom's birthday and they made the day very special. At night my friend and I sat at the bar and the gentleman that was tending was very dismissive and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him any time we asked for anything, there was a lady bartender who picked up on the vibe and she took over and turned the experience around. I've been to a lot of places on the boardwalk and this is by far the best.

Yelp
Called they are not dog friendly, so don't bring your dogs!! Will maybe try another time without them

Yelp
I am a regular at this hotel, so I have eaten at this restaurant multiple times over many years. The food is always excellent and consistent! The service has always been great! I will keep coming back
google avatar

Taina R.

Yelp
We sat outside . We had a great waiter. A lot of the food was over priced for the amount of food you get. The pizza in the picture was $16. The drink I believe was $20. But I must say their chicken wing were very delicious

Yelp
Hotel Restaurant for the Hollywood Beach Marriott, and I would say the best option on Hollywood beach by a wide margin. We stayed at the Marriott for a week and tried many other places, but in each case paid more for inferior food and service. Breakfast menu and breakfast buffet above average for a hotel, and service was consistently excellent. Coffee bar inside has decent cappucinos that are really your only option on Hollywood beach if you don't want gas station quality drip coffee or pod machine coffee marked up 10x. The food specials on Cinco de Mayo were incredible value, I thought I was getting one taco at the price charged and got 3. Recommend the steak and eggs for breakfast, and the fried chicken sandwich for dinner. Not a big fried food fan, but they clearly brined the chicken and really went to length to do it properly. Cocktails were average, decent beer selection.

Yelp
Nice views, great service. The bathroom was clean and good did not take long. The smashed avocado was great, and the entrees were tasty as well. I will say the entrees were heavy on the oil. The fish & chips was good but I couldn't eat all the breading around the fish because of the oil taste. It was much better once I squeezed the lemon on the side onto there though. We also got the seafood pasta, wasn't exactly seafood-y because the sauce did taste more like marinara. The seafood (calamari, mussels, shrimp, etc.) was well prepared, and I did notice the sauce was very oily, but everything tasted great. Pricey but understandable because it's on the beach and like I said, great service. Bathrooms were also very clean

Yelp
Excellent Mother's Day Brunch Beautiful presentation Looking forward to another Mom's day celebration

Yelp
Breakfast on the beach was so yummy to my tummy! Indulge and enjoy the breakfast at Latitudes Restaurant located at the Marriott Hollywood Beach Hotel! Not to worry this restaurant is open to the public which is amazing! This place is fantastic for a breakfast date or a family brunch! The service was amazing and the food was oh so delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't expect much from hotel restaurants unless I overpaying at a 5 star resort. Latitudes surprised me. Very good food (3 stars is NOT a bad review in my book) and friendly service. Generous wine pours are always appreciated and this place did not disappoint. Chicken Quesadilla was a solid starter and probably was enough food for me but I chose to order the Grouper sandwich, which was excellent though I could only finish half. Mango slaw was a nice, tasty alternative to fries.

Lisa S.

Yelp
The service and food was great. Our waiter was excellent. The view was spectacular. The staff was very helpful and attentive. It was a great birthday dinner for my husband.

Yelp
If I lived nearby, I would go often! Surprisingly great for a hotel restaurant. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner and all have been excellent. The açaí bowl is delicious for those that want something to cool you off! It's frozen açaí topped with seasonal fruit. The tacos are my favorite - have had both blackened chicken and fish and it's excellent; add sweet potato fries if you like! Yum! The quesadillas are packed with chicken and peppers and onions - great shareable app or make it your meal! The burgers are huge! Flatbread pizzas are great. Bar is usually pretty full and everyone is super friendly and attentive. Great views of the beach and ocean. And great people watching with the boardwalk right there.

Yelp
This is a beautiful restaurant. We absolutely love the view. Service was wonderful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
Was seated inside and waited over 30minutes for anyone to acknowledge that we were there. Waiters and chefs walked passed us. They helped another couple of a different persuasion who was seated inside after us and then a waiter out of the blue decided to ask if we had been helped. We said no and he acted like he did not hear us until I said it loudly. Order smoked white fish..it tasted like white tuna. Ordered cobb salad and it came mixed like a regular salad and had to looked for chicken and cheese. The croutons were stale and chewy. Very disappointed. Do not recommend this place.

Yelp
I had brunch here with some friends one Sunday morning a few weeks ago. We arrived as breakfast was finishing up and the buffet was still open. We all ordered from the menu. I had a turkey club wrap with sweet potato fries and some coffee. I don't know why I ever order coffee at these kinds of places that don't specialize in it. It was underwhelming but caffeinating so I guess that's good enough. The wrap was a huge portion. So much so that I had some to snack on during my 4-hour drive back across the state that afternoon. I feel like the prices were a touch high, but it's a hotel restaurant so that makes sense. I'd go back.

Yelp
Great food, drinks & Service. Right on the beach and very convenient with sidewalk seating and covered seating.

Yelp
A cool boardwalk spot. A little expensive, but it is in a touristy location, inside a hotel, and in South Florida so overall not crazy. If you don't know, Latitudes is located in the Marriott on Hollywood Beach. They have lots of bar seating, outdoor spots, and even a few beachside tables on the boardwalk. Parking is easy enough in the lot. Street parking is almost impossible. They do not validate. I have stayed here multiple times, so I've been able to experience breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and pool service. The service is always good, and we've always been able to get a table almost immediately. As far as breakfast goes, they have great table service, or a full breakfast buffet. For lunch, everything has been tasty. Salads, bang bang shrimp, burgers, all of it. For dinner we've had the tuna tar tar, Cobb salad, mahi, and other choices. Everything has always been cooked to order, served hot, and made properly. Again, nothing to complain about. The beer menu is alright. They have 5-10 drafts, but a few more in bottles. I've never had their dessert. Overall, if you are walking the beach, this is a great place to stop for a beer, a bite, or casual people watching. There is usually live music, so it's a fun environment with good food and great service.

Yelp
The wild mushroom pizza was seriously one of the best I've ever had. It had some type of truffle oil that made it taste so good!! Also got the piña colada and it was very strong at first and once it waters down a little it's very sweet and tasty. Views 10/10 Food 10/10 Service 10/10
google avatar

Salomon M.

Yelp
Worst food I've had in a long time. I ordered a mahi-mahi sandwich with no bread. The meat was tough, no taste to it could not even eat half of it very disappointed.
google avatar

Yvelin R.

Yelp
I've visited the area twice recently and ended up at this cafe both times. Service is quick. They sat us promptly, brought water and took our orders within a short time. Food is a bit pricey for the type of dish (for example: $30 for fish and chips...2 pieces of fish). Kids' menu is $10-$12... chicken tenders order brings 3 tenders. I enjoy the calamari and do not recommend the guacamole. I do like the ambience and prefer to sit right by the boardwalk, reminds me of my times living in Europe. Location is great! You get nice views of the ocean as you enjoy your drink and/or meal. I usually park by the alleys looking street and pay for parking as I go. I did notice a parking garage not from here, so that's another option.
google avatar

Yelp
Just came here for a quick bite while I was out on Hollywood beach. This restaurant is the restaurant that is in the Marriott hotel however it is open to the public. Located in a beautiful place - this is why I'm rating it a 4 stars. You eat here for the view of the beach. You can literally see the water from where you are eating. Absolutely gorgeous view!!! I had a quesadilla since I ate here by myself. It was good. Nothing special but it was good. Same as you would expect in other restaurants. Service was okay. They were nice just a little slow. But I think it's because of all the action of the beach. Overall I will come back. Next time I'm brining the husband for some drinks on the beach!
google avatar

Judy J.

Yelp
Latitudes is located right in front of the beach, so you have a great view. We came for dinner on a weekday with a large group and the service was VERY SLOW. It took a long time to get our appetizers and entrees, but our drinks came out quickly. The seafood paella was loaded of fresh seafood! The rice a tad salty for my taste but it flavored the seafood well. The Firecracker Shrimp had a nice kick to it and cooked great.
google avatar

Taliy S.

Yelp
Latitudes restaurant is located right on the boardwalk, so it's a busy place. Their breakfast menu includes the American plate, which is eggs, sausages , potatoes and bread and butter. Freshly squeezed Orange juice was delicious. Atmosphere is nice, as you can see the ocean and breathe fresh air. Service was fast and friendly
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
We stopped in here for breakfast before heading to the airport. It wasn't busy and they food looked decent every time we walked by. We were quickly seated. This place does have a nice spot on the boardwalk, which you end up paying for. The restaurant is part of the Marriott, but anyone can walk up and eat here. Our server was pleasant, but only came by one time. We ordered bloody Mary's, which were $15 each and came with shrimp, bacon, cheese and stuffed olives. I ordered the broken yolk egg sandwich, which was delicious. My husband got the eggs Benedict, which were also good. The part that gets me is the bill was somehow $71! It was $7 for a cappuccino and $3 for drip coffee, which we never got a chance to get refills for. So take that for what it is. Our food was good, but very expensive.
google avatar

Yelp
Latitudes restaurant in the Marriott hotel in Hollywood, Florida is great for breakfast and lunch! I Enjoyed a nice breakfast by the beach with my sister this week! Latitudes has a yummy breakfast sandwich that we split ( pic 2). Bacon ,egg + cheddar cheese on multiple layers of sourdough bread ( hence the sharing ! Lol ). We ordered a fruit platter to save face ! The fruit plate came with yogurt & granola , as well , but we didn't get that far ! The servers were all friendly and timely . This restaurant is in the Hollywood, Florida @marriotthotels location & has been consistently good. It has the perfect location with ocean views , or a pool view in the shade if you prefer. They have tables in the sun, as well as under umbrellas in the shade. An added, plus, as you can hear the live music next door while you're eating! You really feel like you're on vacation here.

Yelp
Our whole experience was with five stars. You meet on the pier and take a ferry ride out to Sunset Key. When we got off the ferry, we watched an array of fish and even saw quite a few jelly fish. I noticed some nets over towards the guest cottages, and supposed that they kept critters at bay. The lobby area of the restaurant was quaint enough to stay, instead of staring at the other views, while we waited briefly for a table. We got our request to sit by a window (it was hot outside) overlooking the amazing terrace and water views. There was constant entertainment--huge iguanas, constant boats, jet skis, and other water sports going on. I had the second most amazing cocktail of my life--the key lime martini. It says it's made with stoli vanilla vodka, something called keke beach liqueur, a touch of Tuaca, and cream. It came rimmed with a Graham cracker crust, of course it did. Sooo good. We split a lobster and crab cake and it was mouthwateringly yummy. The whiskey sauce was great. I had the harvest salad with grilled shrimp. The roasted strawberry had a unique flavor, the cucumber wrapped greens were beautiful, who doesn't love a scoop of Boursin cheese, and the toasted almonds, apple, roasted tomato, sweet balsamic dressing finished it off. I ate every bit. My husband had the swordfish linguine. It was made with baby heirloom tomato, asparagus tips, garlic, parmesan, basil, and was in a white wine cream sauce. He was in heaven. I tried a bite and it was awfully fine. We really had to try hard, despite being full, to squeeze in some key lime pie, we'll, just because we were in Key West. It's what you do! Here's a little tip I overheard...if you are a Key West local, they give you a discount to dine here. Yup. Our ferry back was as interesting as it was over. Small schools of wish were jumping and there was plenty of other boating action going on. The only thing we were missing was a sunset. Oh, final tip: book your reservation months in advance!

Keith O.

Yelp
Had their breakfast buffet. We ate inside. It was very clean. The scrambled eggs. Sausage and bacon was great. Oh yeah the sausage gravy over fried potatoes was very good. Good choice of fruit too. Would highly recommend.

Kathy S.

Yelp
Latitudes is a must when we visit Hollywood Beach, Florida! We love the beachfront location, the delicious food, the reasonable prices and the excellent service! We will definitely be back next year!
google avatar

Dominique N.

Yelp
I came to Latitudes for lunch. The food and service were great. We sat outside so you can see the beach right across the street.

Wayne S.

Yelp
Great spot on then beach for breakfast or brunch! If you're lucky you can sit on the broadwalk and enjoy the beach and the people watching.
google avatar

Dragana P.

Yelp
Food was very good! We loved everything we had! The drinks are really good as well! Service was okay! Servers very nice, food runners as well! But the hostess stand? they could use some work! We were not greeted when we came or when we left, one of the girls i even remember her name but i wont mention of course! She looked at us annoyed and like she is mad we came there and the she proceeded to stare at us the rest of time we spent there! Which I wouldn't care if we heard a single word from them! Ambiance was fine.
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
Good portions and several seafood items. Nice bar but service at the bar has always been slow to serve a drink. Food is always fresh. I hate, hate , hate this new menu! Completely different food items as if they are trying to attract customers who like salads and bowls. If I want a salad or a bowl I wouldn't pay what they're asking for. That is the reason for not having 5 stars. Plenty of water Views making it a great ambience and experience.
google avatar

Dawn B.

Yelp
Spectacular service in the food was fantastic. Very much appreciated the ambience. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
First time visiting this restaurant in Hollywood Beach, nice atmosphere, very hospitable and friendly service. We ordered the crispy calamari and the fancy guacamole with chips "smashed avocado" and also two pina coladas. Great service but not impressed by the food menu. However the menu for cocktails, and adult beverages was greater. This restaurant is conveniently located by the beach and had life music which was very nice and enjoyable!

Hudson H.

Yelp
horrible drinks and horrible food. I wanted to send everything I ordered back. don't come here lol

Jared L.

Yelp
Food was great and server was even better would definitely come back if I was ever in town

Yelp
The best thing about staying in a good hotel is the on-site restaurant; it's not always a hit, but when it is, boy, it's really good. Latitude is the on-site restaurant at the this Marriott property. This restaurant has both an oceanfront space and indoor space and the views are just phenomenal if you choose to sit outdoors since it's right next to the beach. If you, instead, wish to grab a few drinks and sit by the pool, you could do that too (the pool is accessible via the guest key card). This restaurant offers everything from breakfast to dinner. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables both indoors and outdoors. We had brunch at this place and the food was exquisite. We ordered Eggs Benedict, Pancakes and the Latitudes Avocado Toast. For drinks, we had just the regular coffee that was served (I'd recommend getting something else). The food was delicious and quite filling. The pancakes were fluffy and the syrup had ample sweetness to alter this from dry to perfectly moist. The strawberries and the whipped cream were the extras for this dish and paired nicely I might add. The eggs Benedict with potatoes was a delicious combo, the Avocado Toast had sunny side up eggs which were made perfectly with a bright golden yellow yolk and the bread was crispy which gave it a crunch and texture that was missing from this dish. Latitude is an on-site restaurant at the Marriott Hotel. Although it's affiliated with this property, anyone can visit this restaurant to dine in. They offer everything from Breakfast to Dinner along with alcoholic drinks. We had a splendid time at this restaurant because of mainly two things - the food and the views; we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch and the magnificent outdoor views. If you're thinking about staying at this Marriott property, I'd highly recommend giving this place a try.

Joy W.

Yelp
The food was less than what we had been served before. Ate Easter Brunch and it was excellent. This was less than par! Very disappointed. I would run to a fast food restaurant than to eat there again plus the service was horrible. We were profiled by the staff. I am 58 years old. They sent me and my husband who works full time as the Sr IT Network Director for one of the major airlines and he goes to work everyday. They wouldn't seat us where we requested they put us with the OLD people because we wouldn't have much to walk and we could be close to the food That is BS. THAT IS DISRESPECTFUL AND PROFILING! It smelled like a geriatric nursing home. We will never come back! We should sue your and see who comes out on top!

Mary S.

Yelp
Best Thanksgivinhelpful brunch in the area. Pleasant atmosphere. The servers are helpful. They get booked up for Thanksgivinging so make a reservation early and confirm it.

Ernesto F.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, better food. Their flatbreads are really good. A little bit windy but all good.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
We were staying at the hotel and had happy hour coupons and almost didn't eat because of the poor reviews. We are glad we did though because both of the apps we had were delicious. My husband got the wings which were packed with flavor and had a lot of meat. I got the clams and mussels I'd been craving the whole trip and those were in a great broth with lots of flavor as well. I'd come back for the tuna tartare as that looks yummy too. The service was a little slow for the many people working but our server was a nice guy so that was fine.
google avatar

Vivien H.

Yelp
I was staying at the beach, I'm an early bird and honestly this place was the closest and open so I decided to give it a try. I sat on the boardwalk which was nice. Service was very attentive in the begging, but then not. Don't know why, I guess they don't feel like walking all the way to the boardwalk often. I ordered a bacon and eggs sandwich which said on the menu that comes with potatoes , well, I got 2 pieces of dry hash browns which was taken out from a frozen bag then deep fried. I have no idea how a hotel and not any hotel, the big and holy Marriott can have a restaurant that can't peel and fry potatoes at least. Yes. The reviews are correct, expensive and not worth the money type of restaurant. They should try harder to attract more people.
