Lovely curation of vintage army garments and Japanese workwear. This is my partner and I’s favourite store to get some interesting wardrobe pieces. I’d like to respectfully address an issue that hindered the ambience of our shopping experience: during our most recent visit, we were strictly followed around by a sales associate. At first, she made regular conversation with us that was friendly and polite. Eventually she kept asking if we’ve visited before, and we’d respond yes (my partner was literally wearing his favourite 40’s Dutch Fatigues from here) and she kept saying “Oh you bought them from here? are you sure?” We found her questioning and interaction pretty odd cause it gave the impression that she thought we were lying or wasn’t “good enough” to be shopping there. Whenever we moved from one part of the store, she closely followed. One example is: We’d pull out a shirt or some trousers to take a closer look and she’d instantly make comments like “I’m wearing that shirt right now. It’s a popular seller, I have it in that colour too…” etc. We’ve worked retail jobs before, so we were picking up on her sales tactic. My partner and I don’t really like buying things on a whim, especially if the items are at higher price points. We like being able to consider how often we’d wear something, try it on to see if we like it, and then come back after another pay period, to save for it, and responsibly buy more expensive things. The sales associate’s attitude felt a little aggressive on trying to make a sale asap and they weren’t being subtle about it. It’s such a shopping turn off. This is the first time we’ve experienced this sort of interaction at Latre, our previous shopping experiences here positively contrasted this one. I’m not sure if the employees are paid on commission and are strictly enforced to make a sale no matter how their approach is, but I’d greatly appreciate if they let the customers have some breathing room for a second, so that we can decide on our own what to purchase without anyone nudging a sale. Idk about y’all, but I KNOW nobody truly enjoys being followed around a store and fed opinions about what to purchase. It’s obnoxious and quite frankly annoying. I hope there’s a way this gets addressed from management to staff.

Charming shop located in the Junction that carries stunning handmade unisex clothing crafted from natural materials. On my first visit to the area, I picked up a few products - the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They also carry a range of art books, accessories, and other home goods. A beautifully decorated treasure!

Latre Art + Style is a unique boutique that offers locally made clothing and accessories, all designed and owned by a visionary clothing designer and stylist. Since it first opened in the Junction, I have been a frequent visitor, and a large portion of my wardrobe consists of Latre's original design garments, as well as their reworked French antique and military deadstock pieces. My favourite piece from Latre is my antique black moleskin chore coat, which I wear almost daily in my studio. All of Latre's clothing is timeless and in my opinion improves with age and use. This is by far my favourite clothing shop in Canada. A must visit if you're in Toronto.

The shop has a lot of really cool stuff and the people are very kind and knowledgeable about the things they have. Bought two of the shirts they make and the craftsmanship is very high.

Very very cool boutique. And the owner is super personable and a total nerd about his creations. Everything in the store was a work of art and craftsmanship.

They have some nice clothes, but prices are way too high and the customer service is very lacking. I bought a pair of jeans made by the shop, and had to replace the cheap plastic buttons several times. When I asked them to repair them (only a month after purchase) I was charged for the work. On overpriced jeans they made and sold me. Won’t shop there again.
