10 Best Barbecue Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"John Lattuca is first and foremost a Texas brisket man, but his namesake barbecue restaurant in Old Montreal explores other meats and styles and does so just as well. How could he not? Lattuca has travelled 40,000 miles around the US, eating and judging barbecue for several competitions." - Valerie Silva

We ordered the sharing platter for three people — two beef portions and one pork rib. The portions were huge! I’m someone with a really big appetite, but I couldn’t even finish it. The flavors were absolutely unforgettable. The smoky charcoal aroma combined with the rich, juicy meat was just incredible. Every bite was packed with flavor and left a lasting impression. This is truly authentic BBQ, both in taste and in portion size. It’s a great place to come with friends or family, and one that I would happily return to. Highly recommended if you’re looking for delicious, hearty barbecue in Montréal!

Google
Both the beef ribs and the chicken were amazing. Seriously good. But the hot side dishes were all cold. As for service, I cannot stress how terrible it was. Firstly there’s no menu, so you have no idea what anything costs. Our drinks arrived after 30 minutes, we were never given napkins, our order was given to another table, and instead of fixing it the server just disappeared. We had to fix it amongst ourselves. Oh and I was asked if we want the bill while I was still eating. I might do takeout for the ribs again, but this is not a place one should be dining in if this is the standard service.

Lattuca Barbecue totally exceeded my expectations! I originally made a reservation for 3 people but our group ended up doubling last minute 😅, and I was so nervous we’d have to find another spot—especially with it being Grand Prix Weekend. But the staff was super accommodating and got us in with no problem at all. Huge relief! We had an awesome view of the cars going by and the port, which just added to the whole vibe. As someone from Texas, I’m pretty particular about BBQ, but I have to say—this place nailed it. The brisket was hands down my favorite—so tender and flavorful. Everything we tried was delicious. Great food, great service, and a chill atmosphere even during a busy weekend. Definitely recommend if you’re in Montreal and craving legit BBQ!

Google
Absolutely amazing BBQ! The beef brisket and beef rib were both incredible — juicy, tender, and full of smoky flavor. Easily some of the best I’ve had in Canada. The sides were great too, especially the baked beans and mac & cheese. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing. Great vibes, friendly staff, and worth every penny. A must-visit for any BBQ lover in Montreal!

Google
Food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The smoke ring on the brisket and ribs was the biggest I’ve seen. Super tender meat. That beef rib was so tender and buttery!! Highly recommend the coleslaw, a nice acidic bite after the meat is refreshing. The Mack and cheese was ok but the amazing BBQ overshadows EVERYTHING. Service is a bit delayed and no one really checks in to see if you need another drink etc but again the amazing food overshadows everything.

Google
Stumbled upon this gem, the brisket, beef ribs and chicken was amazing, delicious, tender, and flavourful! The sides of coleslaw, Mac n cheese and baked beans were also delicious and flavourful ! The staff were friendly, and were great fun! Highly recommend this place for a wonderful experience! “Can we get a pitcher of the water?”

Celebrating my son’s birthday! First, the place inside needs an facelift! At least some basic cleaning for the dust over the countertop and the windows! Parking is easy. The BBQ itself is ok, but not the Canadian way. Small Portions compared to their prices. Nice bar. The open and close times are tricky, make sure you call them.

Google
Highly recommend this place. Hands down one of the best brisket I’ve had. Beef ribs were fall off the bone. Owner and staff are amazing. Will definitely be back from Colorado on our next work trip!

Yelp
BBQ in Montreal? Heck yeah! The food here is authentic and delicious. We did take out - brisket, ribs, pulled pork - all excellent. If i'm ever in Montreal again, this is a must-eat. I've tried many BBQ joints around the world; Lattuca is definitely top tier.

Yelp
We dined here on Saturday April 27, 2024 around 6PM. Had made a reservation since the website strongly suggested this. The restaurant is small and fills up fast. Located in the heart of Old Port, this small joint offers a simple menu of bbq meats and sides. There is only beef ribs, porc ribs, pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken, served with your choice of mac and cheese, coleslaw and baked beans. There are no appetizers and no deserts - however there is a cocktail and drinks menu. I do find it odd that the food menu is not posted on the website, nor on their social media. I saw some outdated photos of the menu other customers posted. The only place to see a physical menu is on the outside of the restaurant itself, otherwise once seated, there is nothing printed and the server will be the one to talk through the options. My partner and I opted for the beef ribs (there is an extra $7 for this option), pork ribs and smoked chicken. The meats were all very tender but lacked flavor - as if there was not enough seasoning or sauce. We had sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw. The food was very good, but not amazing and expensive for around $40 a person to start with plus the surchage for beef ribs. Cocktails were around $17. Very pricy dinner, for this, I expected larger portions. I found the Texas bbq experience to be lacking despite the website claiming this is Texas style. They surely do not serve American sized portions. I am a slim female with a healthy appetite and was disappointed in the lack of food, especially for the sides. There are maybe 3 or 4 bites of coleslaw or mac and cheese in each serving, yet these are the cheapest foods I don't understand why they couldn't be more generous. The time it took to prepare the food and serve us was also puzzling. We arrived when the restaurant just opened and were among the first to order yet waited probably a good half hour or more before our food arrived. The meats are all cooked in advance and I suspect the sides were as well - as we overheard a server mentioning the food is smoked in St-Eustache which is North, outside the island of Montreal. There are no smokers on site at this restaurant. I am glad I tried this place as there is a shortage of good BBQ within Montreal - however due to the portion size, slow service, price and location I would not come back. Unfortunately there is no parking nearby so be ready to pay upwards of $25-$30 for a paid parking lot, or take public transit if you can.

Lad S.

Yelp
Best BBQ I've had in Canada! Seems that BBQ isn't taking on full speed here in old Montreal- not yet...However, best brisket I've ever had! Moist, juicy, and you don't even have to add sauce. In fact - this place doesn't even offer sauce because no sauce is needed. Spacious indoor and outdoor seating. When you enter this restaurant - you're greeted warmly and you see the options for beer for you. The fixins of Mac & cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw are small in portion, however; the main course is the beef! The beef are hearty portions. Give the place a try. The amount you spend will be worth it.

Yelp
My ribs and brisket was good. I appreciate the later being on the leaner side. On a nice day, sit outside as the bbq smell can be pronounced indoors. Portions are small for the price BUT it is located in the touristic district.

Yelp
Stopped in to Lattuca Barbecue for dinner tonight. The meats were delicious and tender. The brisket was so tender it melted in your mouth. We also order the pulled pork and smoked chicken. Both had great flavour and did not disappoint. Didn't order the beef rib, but looking at it we will next time we are in. Chose the coleslaw and Mac & cheese as our side and the coleslaw was perfect combo with pulled pork and Mac & cheese was delicious. Great complimenting sides. The servers were extremely helpful and attentive. With this being our first time they explained how the menu worked and offer great suggestions. Such a quaint little place, very much like a wonderful family restaurant. You can see the passion of the two chefs behind the counter preparing your meals. They tel great pleasure in their crafts. John is a top notch chef.

Yelp
I'm torn between my opinions of this restaurant. On one hand, their meats are cooked to perfection! The brisket melted in your mouth and the beef ribs fell off the bone! I enjoyed their in-house bbq sauce as well though I wish they had more options like hot sauce or a creamy dip. As for their sides, their mac and cheese is pretty standard but the portion is small. I also wished they had creamy coleslaw because it tasted a bit dry, but their baked beans were excellent! As for the price, we paid $120 for 2 meals which is ridiculous! For the portion of food and quality of sides, I would expect to be spending way under $100. Overall I would give this place a 3.5, but due to Yelp's rating system and the fact their actual bbq is delicious, I'll settle for a 4 star rating.

Yelp
Coming from the US, I like to think I'm a pretty good judge of bbq. This was up and down. Going to break it down into individual items for you guys. Brisket...super tender and juicy, no bark, decent smoke flavor 7.8/10 Pulled pork...nice peppered flavor and very tender as well 8.0/10 Smoked Chicken...juicy, tender and slightly missed on the sauce 7.6/10 Mac n Cheese...cheese consistency was odd and the pasta taste like cardboard. Not much flavor going on here 6.4/10 Baked Beans...beans were under cooked and tasted like mostly brown sugar. No other flavor detected aside from a slight smokiness 5.8/10. The service was decent, but nothing above and beyond. We sat on the street side patio, so the views of the river were pleasant. It sufficed for the night, but might skip this one next time as the prices were high considering the very small portions. 7.4/10

Yelp
I grew up in Kansas City and now live in S. Carolina. I didn't expect to find outstanding BBQ in Montreal but we most certainly did. We had the spare ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken. All of it was very well smoked and served alongside mac & cheese, coleslaw, and beans. I would highly recommend Lattuca's to anyone looking for outstanding barbecue while visiting Montreal. We also had the opportunity to have a great conversation with John Lattuca and learned all about his background and his passion for barbecue.

Yelp
Amazeballs BBQ meat. @$#*¥€! delicious sides. Sweet interesting engaging staff. The outdoor patio on a pleasant evening like tonight is a fantastic people watching spot! The inner dining room is super cramped and loud. Hopefully they'll do well enough to get a better location soon. They wont thrive in the tourist historic city. They belong in a hood where the locals live. Their food is so OFF THE FUCKING HOOK GOOD that they will rise to great heights thru word of mouth.

Yelp
We used to love this place! Unfortunately the quality of meats have gotten worse and worse over time. Last week was the last chance we gave Lattuca. The brisket was 99% fat. The pulled pork had an awful smell and the portions have greatly reduced. One can understand inflation but it doesn't make sense to spend $80 on two plates and not be able to eat most of it.
google avatar

Yelp
Great barbecue, nice man leading the mission who came out to introduce himself! Recommend the brisket and pork ribs! Mac and cheese was fire
google avatar

Yelp
Very good bbq meat restaurant. In order of best to least best: beef rib, pork rib, brisket, chicken (we accidentally didn't get pulled pork). Most of the meats were super smoky and juicy, however the brisket was unfortunately very dry. The beans, extremely mustardy. The mac and cheese was amazing.
google avatar

Lynn F.

Yelp
The brisket was very good but when we ordered the combo with beef rib it had only one small piece of it .. Sister had the pulled pork and was happy , large portion too. We wondered why it was absolutely empty at prime time . Only 2 other patrons . But it must be the service. Our waitress disappeared , never asked if we wanted another drink ( we did ) . But decided to leave and had to go up the the bar where a different ( very friendly ) waitress helped us and brought our bill. The best was as we left we saw our original waitress ( had been about an hour ) sitting on stoop next door chatting or smoking . She blandly watched us exit .Hope they get new help and get busier .

Yelp
This is the best BBQ in MTL by a mile. John Lattuca has the hardware to back it up that he's one of the best brisket smokers in the world. The beef rib is the star here but there's not a bad bite on the menu. The bark and tenderness of the beef rib is the best you'll find in the city. Definitely make sure you get the sauces as well (the meat is so good on it's own but these sauces are next level - especially the Carolina style). Love this spot and happy to support John and crew - if you like BBQ this place is a gem.

Yelp
My coworker was craving barbecue, so why not?! This place has an excellent rating so we chose here. It's about the same distance walk as it was to get to La Catrina so we figured we'd walk here as well. Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: It's another beautiful warm summer's evening and the people are out are all along Rue de la Commune O. The scene is so gorgeous with folks riding bikes, families out and the riverfront view. We chose to sit outside because, why not? It wasn't very busy and we like to take advantage of the weather when we can. So dig this. There is no menu. Lol. There's nothing you can hold in your hang to look at. The servers tell it to you. It's very interesting. Moving on... Service: Quite good. There was a busy table next to us with some kids (who kept eyein' my plate) as well as some tables inside that she was busy with but everyone got handled. She did an excellent job. Food: So sitting on the bench-like seat outside we're listening to our server tell us about all the delicious choices. They offer 4 meats (beef brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs and pulled chicken), macaroni & cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. It's such a simple menu. No wonder there's no need to waste paper. Well, I needed to try all 4, so that's what I did. I got the baked beans and coleslaw to try and be as healthy as possible. Lol. Everything was FABULOUS and I see why this place is rated so freaking high. I was STUFFED, but... that's what the walk back is for! Ha, ha, ha. I was truly surprised at how well Texas barbecue was pulled off so far north in Montreal! Value: All prices in $CAD. $35.00 for the quad-meat special with 2 sides. Now that's QUITE STEEP, but it was 100% worth it. I'd certainly come back here time and time again... if I weren't preparing to get married in less than 6 months. WOO! I've pretty much summed things up, but I loved it here. Simple menu, no frills, nothing crazy, it's which meats do you want and how much of it Lol.

Yelp
Food was good. You'll get a good meal. So hats off to the chef. But ultimately it comes down to a few things to warn you about before you enter. First, the portion size - a bbq crowd wants a large serving, these ain't fancy people. And this place doesn't meet the mark there. Second, Lacutta doesn't have a f****** menu with f****** prices. If there was only ONE item on the menu (ex: T-Bone steak with mashed potatoes) or something to the effect of (you get either the ribs or the brisket - with slaw) - then I could understand. But if you got anymore than that going on, print a f****** menu with some f****** prices that lists the f****** options. So I can understand all the complicated f****** options you've given: up to 5 meats, 4sides, single or sharing, or a sides only order or a 3 meat option but you can order one meat to get extra but the bbq come with a $7 surcharge if their the 3 meat, and on and on. Sounds like a government tax law being ratified on the Senate (or parliament) floor. And still no menu written out to explain it. Jesus.

Anthony F.

Yelp
The best brisket and pork ribs (according to my wife) hands down anywhere and my beef rib was absolutely fantastic. The service we received was friendly, attentive and excellent all around. Reasonable prices for Montreal and for the quality of food you get. We spent 3 nights in Montreal. 2 of the 3 nights we ate here. That should tell you something about how good it is and we've had Texas BBQ also and this ranks right at the top with the best Texas BBQ. We'll be back the next time we visit.
google avatar

Ron E.

Yelp
She touched my shoulder. "Are you an angel?" I asked. She laughed. I laughed. That's when I awoke from the dream. There it was. If the holy grail could be eaten, it was about to be. If the cup of Christ was tender and slow-smoked brisket, and the blood was the blood. I closed my eyes again. Years ago, I saw the world. "Remember the world?" Fernando the ox-tamer chuckled. I was standing with him again on Texas High Country. A few dark brown horses in the heat in the distance with only their tails to keep cool. There was a river. But when I opened my eyes again, I wasn't in Texas. I was by the Lachine canal. I heard that the locals named it "la chine" to mock the explorer De La Salle because he thought it lead to China. Of course it doesn't lead to China. It's a direct route to the American South. May God bless this beef. Ron

Yelp
We were visiting from the US and was excited to see BBQ. This was absolutely delicious authentic BBQ. Best meal we had during our whole trip (spent time in Quebec City and Montreal). Had the pulled pork, pork ribs, and brisket. Super flavorful and tender. Only wish the portions were a little bigger because it's so good.
google avatar

Leticia S.

Yelp
Although the food was bland, gross, and lukewarm. There weren't that many things to choose from. All the restaurant had was bbq chicken, beef ribs, pulled pork, beans, cold slaw, and Mac n cheese. The food was not worth the price, but the drinks were. The service was ok. There's no menu's. The waitresses just tell you what they have, and you just order like that. Our waitress checked on us 3 or 4 times while we were there two and half hours. She was very friendly. The ambiance was ok. They had music, but it was very low. They did not have air conditioning, but it was hot. We kept asking for water.

Jay G.

Yelp
It's really hard to give this place a review because I didn't have the food. The one star is for the server being polite and understanding after walking out. They charge a 20 dollar sharing fee if two or more people share more than one of their individual plates. I've never heard of something so ridiculous and hope the manager /owner reads this, understanding that charging extra for the same meal goes against standard practices traditionally followed in the food industry.
google avatar

Eric N.

Yelp
Very good bbq. Chicken was really great, moist and flavorful but everything was excellent. Other than a bit weak on wine selection the food exceeded expectations. We had the platter for 2 that had everything on the menu. Nice outdoor dining area and service was great.
google avatar

Matt A.

Yelp
The succulent, almost buttery, fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth glory is some of the best cooked meat we've ever tasted. Just the right amount of fat left on each cut for a huge portion of juicy, tender goodness that would turn almost anyone into a meat lover.
google avatar

Nick B.

Yelp
Amazing meal and amazing drinks! It's worth taking the time to make a reservation. Owner John was super friendly and funny, and explained why they require reservations (it takes a lot of time and care to make the meats which means there are limited quantities). Mac and cheese was amazing, Arnold Palmer cocktail was refreshing, and the meats were too much to handle, but we ate them anyway! 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Amazing beef ribs and brisket. Oh so tender! Cozy place, friendly staff, long wait to service and food however. But food is outstanding!

Tom N.

Yelp
Lattuca was able to accommodate our party of 20. The staff and owner were super nice. Quick service. Very knowledgeable. Great drink selection. The restaurant reminded us of a BBQ place back in the states. Amazing food. Nothing was short of amazing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Amazing food owner also great guy love his passion for making perfect food A must check out if looking for a great place to eat

Yelp
Simple menu of BBQ choices, and very good! Sides are nice too. Basic casual BBQ bar.

Justice S.

Yelp
Good bbq. Not a lot of options for sides, but you're there for the bbq, right?!?. Staff was friendly. Would go back again. Prices seem reasonable

Jonathan C.

Yelp
The Texas style smoked briskets, beef ribs and all the food Lattuca Barbecue has to offer are truly products of "labour of love". How many restauranteurs start at 4 am to prepare the food for the fortunate patrons who either made reservations or like me, who took a chance and wandered in and discovered the culinary delights prepared by John Lattuca. Thank you John! I also extend my thanks to Kaelyn for her contribution to the dining experience and good luck on your upcoming exams Kaelyn!

Yelp
Lattuca Barbeque is across the street from the Old Port of Montreal. Food: They had brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, chicken and pulled pork on the evening we went. You get two out of three options for sides: coleslaw, mac & cheese and baked beans. We each ordered three items. I had the brisket, beef rib, and pork ribs. Note, the more you order, the less meat you get of each. That's how they roll. The two small slices of brisket was decent. Beef rib was tender with some burnt bits. Pork ribs had good flavor. Chicken wasn't dry, but the piece we got was tiny. Their coleslaw is a pickled kind with a bit of sourness and tang. Mac & cheese might have been good if it was served hot and not at room temp. Baked beans were on the sweet side. Service: OK. As they have no menu posted any where, you'll have a server come by to tell you what they have available for the day and take your drink order. Cost: Two "trays" with three meats each and ONE beer totaled CAD$81.65. Overall: I'd pass on this place. Reasons: 1) The lack of a menu. I get it. Things change daily. But would it kill someone to post something on a chalkboard? 2) We went for dinner on a Sunday evening at about 6:15pm. There were three other tables waiting for food and one was just being served. For food that is pre-cooked, it was a 45-minute wait before our food hit the table! And the mac & cheese was room temp. We watched the 'pit-master' at the bar area stay busy, but we were confused as to why as there were only two tables of two and a family of four waiting ahead of us. The two servers also seemed to keep busy with things, but didn't really check on patrons. 3) CAD$81.65 for both of our three item plates and a beer?! We've had much better BBQ served hot at more affordable prices within moments of ordering elsewhere.

Yelp
Visiting Lattuca both before and after becoming a KCBS BBQ judge made me realize two things: (i) serious BBQ enthusiasts look for different taste qualities than the uninitiated and (ii) decent BBQ is indeed quite expensive and rare in this city. For one, I used to think like most people that "fall off the bone" was the golden standard for pork ribs. However, to truly enjoy the the chew and pork flavour, it needs to be removed from cooking before the meat becomes mushy, like it is at Lattuca. The brisket was the prize. It was extremely tender and juicy, simple in flavour, and this is so difficult to do that even in competitions it's hit-and-miss. I also really enjoyed the chicken. The beef ribs were just massive and a bit tough. Overall, quite serious BBQ going on. You'll need a reservation on the weekends. And for the uninitiated, don't hesitate to go on Lattuca's website, where the owner explains his approach in keeping the BBQ authentic.

Yelp
One of the best barbecue we ever had. The owner, John, is a pitmaster who perfectioned the art of barbecue and if lived in Canada this would be our favorite spot to eat at! The restaurant is conveniently located in the Vieux-Port and it has a very rustic charm. The prices are reasonable and the service is impeccable.

Paul S.

Yelp
Amazing BBQ. John and his team truly delivered a wonderful feast. Can't believe he was able to plate that much and manage the flurry of take out orders with only 3 staff. You can truly taste the passion in his BBQ. Highly recommend. Best BBQ in Montreal, if not Canada.

Yelp
First BBQ experience in MTL. Let me tell you this first off. The food was absolutely to die for. I order the brisket, pork ribs, side of Mac and cheese and the baked beans. Single handedly one of the best BBQ experiences I've ever had. Flavour, texture, appearance. All good. To be honest, I think we were there on a rough night. Keg was tapped, no beer on draught, and was taking a while to get out food. The food looked and tasted amazing. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, the prices didn't add up. Firstly their menu is stupidly confusing. It's posted right outside their door, but if you ask them for a menu inside, they don't got one. Secondly, it's important to note that you have the option of ordering a second meat for a $2 upcharge. The problem with this is that they reduce your initial meat. In fact I got more secondary meat than I did primary. So you're basically more for less. The owner though is top notch nice guy who has a great personality, is friendly, checks in on you and most importantly is a pit boss. Good is great. Prices are too high.

Yelp
Epic BBQ at Lattuca! Straight up meat (plus sides) so there's no menu, server just tells you what's available. Minimal drinks (some beers, wines, etc) but the focus is obviously on the meat. Our party of 4 had the resurrection with beef ribs, pork ribs, brisket, and pulled pork (plus bbq baked beans and mac & cheese). Lattuca is known for his award-winning brisket and it did not disappoint. It melted in your mouth. The ribs literally fell off the bone. Pulled pork was great as well. The owner is passionate about BBQ and that can be tasted in the food. There's not a lot of tables and it filled up very quickly, so reservations are highly recommended.

Yelp
My family and I were looking for a place to eat while visiting Montreal and found Lattuca on Yelp! I ordered the brisket and beef ribs with mac and cheese and beans. The meat was sooo flavorful and delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about how good it was! I am a sauce girl and this meat did not have bbq sauce on it and I still loved it. I also loved the root beer so much that I asked the waitress what brand it was and she said Stewart's! YUM! Speaking of our waitress, Abby had a great personality and was super friendly and helpful. She made our dining experience that much more enjoyable.

Matthew K.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise for a Texan working in Montréal ! John and his staff were very welcoming and made the night one to remember. Although this is a small restaurant there is plenty of room for small or large groups. The menu is simple, quality smoked meats and three sides to choose from on the menu board. There is a total focus on the meats, however the sides we very tasty. The beef rib was well smoked and utilzed the tride and true salt and black pepper rub. The brisket was also very well seasoned and smoked. I tried a bit if a friends pulled pork and it was flavorful, tender, and juicy. For BBQ lovers or those just looking for a quality well prepared meal, you will not be disappointed. John, thank you for the Nestea shot. It gave me a good laugh.

Yelp
Perfect experience! It's definitely a wonderful place for meet lover!!! 31$/person, tax and tips not included. It definitely worth that much.

Yelp
If you're a meat lover this is the place for you. I got to try all 4 of their meats and I really enjoyed the brisket and pulled porc. The beer selection was good but I've had better. Our waitress was very extremely friendly and helpful. The staff in general are great. I'm not sure I would come back as it is a very heavy meal but I'm happy I tried it. The side dishes were delicious !!

Yelp
I arrived in Montreal less than 24 hours ago and I randomly wandered in here looking for a late dinner. As I stepped in they were just closing up, but very kindly offered to let me order take out from what meat they had left. Small talk with the two people working there was very nice and they made me feel very welcome and not like I was keeping them there later than they wanted to be. When I got home and unwrapped the meat one by one, and when I unwrapped the ribs, I involuntarily said "holy shit". I don't think I have ever eaten meat this good in my life... ever. I don't come from the south, but I am from the U.S. and I can confidently say Lattuca has greatly surpassed any American BBQ I have ever had. I can't wait to go back

This is a nice restaurant for meat lovers. It's interesting that the restaurant doesn't have a menu. Each day there's three kind of meat. You can choose one type or two type or three type. There's also three choices for sides. You can choose two from them. So easy to decide what to get! Lol. I ordered beef. Very delicious. The service is ok. It's a little bit expensive than I expected from a two dollar marque ($$) restaurant. But, I guess it's the level of $$ in Old-Port.

Yelp
I made reservations here after reading the reviews on how amazing their BBQ is. We arrived and we're greeted by the really friendly staff. They don't have a menu for food or drinks, but your server will tell you what's available. I got the beef rib and brisket with mac and cheese and coleslaw. And he originally asked for the same but with pork ribs as well. Unfortunately, they had no pork ribs left. So he got the same as me. It did not take long to get our food, and once it came I was astounded at how big that beef rib was! Honestly speaking, the mac and cheese and coleslaw were nothing to mention. Extremely standard. However, the brisket was the best meat I've ever had in my life. Oh my god. It literally melts in your mouth. The beef ribs were delicious as well, tons of smokey flavour. BUT THAT BRISKET THO. I will be going back, and getting just brisket. It is quite pricey, for 2 of us just getting the 2 meat dishes, it costed about 77$, and no drinks. But if you are craving some damn good BBQ, check this place out!!

Yelp
I went to Austin in August for a brisket trip and having done that I can confidently say this place is equal with greats. The brisket was tender and buttery and not overly smoked. The bark had the right amount of crunch and saltiness. Most pulled pork relies on a vinegar sauce for flavor. This had a smoked sweet depth of flavor I have rarely experienced. But the true winner was the beef rib. Tender, smokey, and with an incredible bark. John Lattuca was a gracious host and it is clear he takes great pride in his craft. Finding this place was a happy accident but I will definitely come back when I'm up in Montreal again.

Yelp
Amazing place! Came here with 12 guys and they were able to accommodate us! The food was amazing! I recommend the beef rib! The meat just falls off the bone and it was sooooo tender! The owner came by our table and thanked us personally which I thought was classy!

Yelp
I ate his meat and I respected Monseigneur Lattuca even more. I did not entertain his side dishes or garnishes, because there weren't any. I was not distracted by his high concepts or clever cocktails, because there weren't any. I was not impressed with his accents or decorations, because there weren't any. Lattuca is the James Dean of meat. If you need more than juicy, irresistibly tender, succulent meat that has been expertly seasoned and lovingly cooked, then go back to Paris. I took the bone from my beef ribs home with me as a souvenir because I love that animal that died so well for me.

Yelp
An uncontrollable "hmmmm... " came out of mouth followed by a meaty moment of bliss was felt after every bite I took from my humongous platter of carnivorous heaven. That smokiness... That perfect sweetness... Everything was so good. The beef rib is so big to the point where I could use the rib bone as a riot baton. The fat on every piece of meat is an excellent way to throw a party in your mouth. Lattuca is definitely one of my favorite place in Montréal now. My only complain is the big useless knife that took too much space on the table - the fork was enough to pull apart the meat.

Yelp
Wait, what??? Texas BBQ in Montreal? I spent 4 years in Austin and know a little (well maybe a lot) about eating BBQ. Um, this is it! I grabbed takeout brisket and beef ribs. Both were sans sauce (nice) with a deep dark peppery bark and almost unbelievably moist meat. The sides were OK but nothing special in my book, load up on the meat! The owner John was friendly, welcoming and bought me a beer while I was waiting. This place is as good as it gets for BBQ.
