🌟 Visiting the Latvian National Opera House last week felt like stepping into one of Riga’s great treasures — a place where history, architecture, and culture come together with rare elegance. This iconic building, standing proudly by the canal, has carried Latvia’s artistic soul since the 18th century, and its beautifully restored interior still radiates that heritage today. From Vilnius, we made the trip to Riga — and it was worth every moment. The atmosphere inside the Opera House is extraordinary: golden light, quiet grandeur, and a sense of tradition that has lived through generations of Latvian artists, conductors, and composers. The highlight of the evening was Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore — a charming, heartfelt performance that filled the hall with laughter, tenderness, and truly wonderful voices. A classic opera buffa, beautifully staged, and the perfect way to experience this historic space. A memorable night surrounded by Latvian culture at its finest — where the past is preserved with love, and the art still feels alive. 🇱🇻✨

Had a lovely time at the National Opera watching Dracula ballet. The venue was beautiful even though the main lobby was closed for renovations. We booked the last tickets available as it was a spur of the moment decision so we were in the second balcony at the back, however we were still able to see everything and enjoy the show. My only complaint would be the lack of enforcement of not using phones during the performance. There were a few people around us using their phones on full brightness to take photos, and one was even scrolling Instagram. There was even an announcement before in Latvian and English prohibiting the use of phones during the presentation. Very disrespectful, but the ushers did not step in even after brining it to their attention. I hope to visit again after the renovations are complete!

It is so beautiful inside! We attended a ballet concert, it was just incredible! Very friendly staff, nice website, everything was super easy. I can only recommend you visiting a National Opera during your visit to Riga, just keep in mind that it’s better to buy tickets earlier if you want great seats🩰🎭

Very nice place and I'd love those green based colour with golden inside. Opera performance, It costed 45Eur max for those ordinarily title opera performance, but we'd Lough and loved them. We are not Latvian speakers, so the caption for translation was necessary. If we knew it comes at the upper end of stage, we didn't get tickets for those first floor seats as it was a little lower level than the stage itself. Next time we are buying tickets for the seats at second floor.Ladies and gentlemen's room was at the left side of the first floor and hard to find it. As I got there, there was a long line. So those need restrooms should go right away for the brektime.

A very beautiful and, it may sound a bit strange to say, but cozy opera house. Comfortable seats, professional performers, and everything is well organized and thought through. Even during the intermissions, there were no long lines at the bar or the restrooms. Overall, a great experience!

The Latvian National Opera House is one of Riga’s most elegant and iconic buildings. Its architecture is absolutely stunning — classic, grand, and perfectly situated right next to Bastejkalna Park and the canal. Every time I walk by, I’m amazed by how picturesque and well-preserved it is, especially when lit up in the evening. Sadly, I’ve never had the chance to see a performance or step inside, but it’s definitely on my list. If the interior is anything like the outside, I’m sure it’s breathtaking. Even just admiring it from the park nearby makes it worth a visit. A must-see for architecture lovers and anyone exploring central Riga!

I was there for La Traviata, it was beautiful. The opera house itself is gorgeous, and the performance was great. 10/10 experience, I would definitely return. I suggest buying tickets a few weeks in advance to get good seats :)
