Tony had lunch with Douglas Young, founder of Goods of Desire. They had prawn-roe noodles.

Not bad. The wonton noodle soup was fine. The noodles had a nice chewy texture to them. The wontons themselves were just ok, and the broth was a bit bland. 3/5. The fish cake noodle soup was alright. The stand out of the dish were the fish cakes, while the rice noodles were fine, and the broth was also fairly bland. 3/5.

Famous for prawn roes noodles many years ago and still there. However, owing to the rise of all kinds of costs, the portion shrinks quite a lot but the taste is kept. There were 2 Lau Sum Kee there where the shop at Kweilin street is better decorated but close earlier, so make your move wisely.

Don’t expect it to be instagrammable. It’s a tiny shop— no more than 6 tables. Ordered the shrimp roe noodles with dumplings and beef tendon with brisket. So good!

I wanted to share the kindness we've experienced today - we only had $60 cash left, had forgotten our Octopus card at home too and they didn't accept Visa cards, so we could only order the two cheapest dishes. Unfortunately we don't speak Cantonese, so we struggled to explain this to the server when a gentleman who luckily spoke English stepped in and helped - and next thing we knew, there was some dumplings on the table that we didn't order, then arrived some more and in the end, a very kind lady ended up paying for our whole order. We offered to pay her back multiple times, but she refused. These people could have judged us, but they showed us kindness instead, which we were very grateful for. We ended up with more food than we could eat and we couldn't take it all with us unfortunately, so we shared some with a homeless man as a way to pay it forward. I want to say thank you to everyone involved.

When in Hong Kong, you have to eat wonton noodles. There's no Michelin star here. But they get the Jeff H. best wonton noodles in Sham Shui Po award from me. We ordered wonton soup $44 ($5.64 USD), beef tendons noodles $44 ($5.64 USD) and wonton shrimp roe lo-mein $50 ($6.41.) These were delicious. Anthony Bourdain was right. Lau Sum Kee is the type of place with a line out the door and you have to eat with strangers at the same table. We had to slide over a few times. Get ready to literally rub elbows with strangers. The menu was in Chinese only and we had to translate to some Dutch tourists. The owner still makes his own noodles with a bamboo stick. That is so awesome.

It's our first visit to this popular noodle shop. We enjoy the noodle so much. Reasonable price. Free marinated redish serve on the table. Customer services can be uplifted.

My favourite noodle shop in HK, reasonable prices and great quality. I ordered the beef tendon noodle with drived shrimp roe. Flavours are rich without being too salty, and noodles are cooked to perfection. You can order a drink as part of a set, but they only serve bottled drinks as they don't have a drinks bar. The jar of pickled radish is a perfect appetiser and is sweet, sour and crunchy. You could potentially be seated with other people, and they require the table back quite quickly, so not really a place to chat.

Little place fills up easily, especially at meal times. There maybe a line outside waiting for seats, however it does move fast as people don't generally stay long. Be prepared to share your table with others. Known for shrimp roe noodles which are always a great choice. Have some of the free pickled turnip in the jar in middle of the table, while waiting for the noodles to arrive.
