We were debating whether to return to the Blue Lagoon or try Laugarás Lagoon, and we’re so glad we chose this instead. The facilities are brand new, the building is modern and clean, and the pools were fantastic. Visiting in winter made it even more special, we could watch the ice drifting along the river beyond the pools, the snowy landscape, and even the sunset, all while soaking in the warm water.
It wasn’t crowded and is much more affordable than the Blue Lagoon. Our kids were initially disappointed we weren’t going back to Blue Lagoon, but after visiting Laugarás, they ended up loving it and actually preferred it.
The package with towels and drinks isn’t really worth it if you can bring your own towel, it’s cheaper to buy drinks separately. We also had dinner at the restaurant and, although it was expensive (like everything in Iceland), the sunset views and the quality of the food made it worthwhile. We would definitely come again.
