The beach itself is amazing but when we went last summer the showers and bathroom were closed off that's why it's 4star Has a kiddy section also looks like good for beginners in surfing.. Lots of tables and grills

Very beautiful beach with a nice park but there’s a lot of rocks so I definitely recommend swimming shoes and the water was beautifully clear and warm and parking lot is small so neat to come early

Google
Such a beautiful beach park in Maui compared to other beach parks that are available. This is a very good place for toddlers and old people to enjoy the beach. There are high currents in this beach so they have built a block with rocks that gives a beautiful look of the beach and you can enjoy sitting in the rocks and also water forms as a pool for toddlers to enjoy. There is parking space, grill machine , benches if anyone would like to do some grill and plan for some picnic.

My favorite beach park when looking for a spot to relax in the shade where I don’t have to make it a sandy day unless I want it to be. The beautiful monkeypod trees make lots of shade. Sadly some of the big trees were lost in recent storm but most of them made it. Happy to see the park open again!

This was a real cool locals beach. The sand was completely different than the others. It was a darker sand that was cool on your feet. Just one thing i would say is don't leave your valuables around. It could walk away, but we wanted to experience all the local beaches

Good family beach. There is an enclosed pool for small kids. It has ample shade when you need it. It is also a good beginning to moderate surfer beach. The waves are not too rough or intimidating. It is fairly shallow in some spots. Make sure to wear water socks as there's some coral. Water socks saved our feet. We also found a grave marker here tucked away under some trees.

My favorite beach of the 6 different ones we went to. We had older kids & adults that wanted to surf & boogie board and little kids that needed safe, smaller waves. This fit our needs perfect. There’s large rocks that make a small cove perfect for little ones and the older kids went outside of it and rode surf & boogie boards. A Hawaiian monk seal came in the cove and sun bathed on the beach, was so so special for us to see one so close. (We stayed the proper 50 feet away and were so thankful that most everybody respected that they are an endangered species) There were several sea turtles that came into the cove also. There are some smaller rocks on the shore but still plenty of sand to dig and play in. The grassy area isn’t super nice but wasn’t any big deal to wear shoes and sit on towels. Not food or restaurants near by but we just packed a lunch in a cooler bag. Very special day.

This is a great place to take small children. Low waves, small swim hole. People where here to catch waves also. Bathrooms & showers and picnic benches. No alcohol permitted.

Yelp
This is a great multi-purpose beach for families and beginner surfers. Has picnic tables, grills, bathroom, shallow water area protected by rock wall and beach. Very popular with local families for birthday parties on weekends and holidays.

Yelp
Going out of town from Lahaina on Rte 30 is a great park for surfing and straight chillen. Bring the kids, surfboards and sunscreen. A good time is waiting for you.

Yelp
This is the greatest beach on Maui for small children, better than BABY BEACH in that there's smaller tide pool areas where fresh water collects and flows without turbulence for a very safe environment that most 2+ yr olds can stand, walk and play in the water whose levels never gets much higher than 30", so it minimizes the risk for injury and drowning, 'tho you still need to supervise your children and stay close enough to ensure their safety (as it only takes a few inches of water for a child to drown) It's a good beach, and there's an adjacent shore area with a long beach front leading into the ocean to play in as well. Parking is not easy at the beach but there's an additional supplemental parking area across the street up the hill towards the right side you turn into, for additional parking.

Yelp
So this is one of the beaches on this part of the island not crawling with tourists. There were still tourists, but there were way more locals around. Parking is a pain. There is a parking lot on the same side as the beach but it is full and apparently, it is often full. There is free parking available across Route 30 or Honoapiilani Highway but make sure you drop off the kids and the seniors on the beach side first coz they will have a hard time running across this highway later. This park has, surprise surprise, palm trees to provide shade. So you don't need to bring your tourists' umbrellas. Also, there are BBQ grills so you can slap some food on it and not have to leave to eat. This beach also has a section of the ocean that has a breaker, creating a small "kiddie pool" so the toddlers can explore in the water and you can safely supervise from the beach. Fishies and other critters swim in and it's a blast for both adults and children alike. If the weather is cooperating, there might even be waves high enough to ride. WARNING: Walk on the sand, not the rocks when you're in the water. Lots of sea urchins live here. LOTS.

Yelp
Such a great spot to bring the keiki (kids) the small man made lagoon keeps the surf at bay. The waves are great for beginners to the old timer on the SUP. It's a beautiful spot with lots of shade. There are quite a few groups usually here celebrating birthdays or special occasions. It has grills for BBQ'ing and picnic tables too! There are public bathrooms, definitely a plus. Parking can be a little right but I got lucky today. I would say this is more of a local spot and a tourist spot. I would say it's pretty safe but it's always a good idea to keep your valuables at home and make sure you lock up your car.

Yelp
Returning to Maui with a toddler means discovering new favorite places as the collective needs of our group have changed. Launiupoko has some tolerable waves for the surfer in our group, but it also has a wonderfully sheltered little beach lagoon for the tiny wader in our group, which thrilled him with thick black sand to build sandcastles, schools of shiny fish, and the gentlest of waves that couldn't even threaten to knock him over. Plus a picnic table for a post-lagoon snack. Five stars for being the right beach at the right time.

Yelp
Such a great park for family gatherings and predictable surfing days. Picnic tables, grills shady spots and occasional monk seal visits make this beach a joy. There's a shallow area for kids too.

Yelp
Got stung by a jelly fish and some guys said I was gonna die. Frickin skip. Water was also super murky. Got to see a seal doe.

Yelp
I love this beach--almost everything about it.. let's start with the good things: BBQ areas, picnic tables and shade a-plenty. The view of Lana'i is awesome. There is a keiki (child) pool for the littles. I watched a 1 1/2 year old practice surfing out there yesterday! It's zero-depth and doesn't go much over 3 feet. The surfing is great--the waves roll in all day long. Kids of all ages are out there droppin' in. There is a shower and pretty clean public bathrooms. It's located in Lahaina so there's a 99.9% chance that it's going to be sunny, hot and awesome. The other stuff. I won't say it's bad stuff.. it's just more annoying "First world problems" whining from me. The parking. Oh the parking. If you aren't there early, you'd better be praying and hoping that the parking fairy is on your side if you pull in to that lot. You may get lucky and happen to pull in as someone is pulling out--and then you can feel like royalty for the rest of the day. But if it's just a normal day--you'll see that the lot is like a game of Tetris and your best bet is to go directly across the highway and park there. Be warned, that stoplight takes forever and a day to turn green so bring your iPhone and catch up on social media while you wait. No lie. The sand is dark... and being a beach snob, I like the water clear. The dark sand makes the water look murky. I know it's not, but sometimes it feels like I'm swimming in a dirty lake. Even so, when you're in Lahaina, it's so hot that you won't care and you'll HAVE to jump in because the heat is intense. Wana. I can't tell you how many times we go to this beach and someone always gets Wana (pronounced vah-nah) in their foot. Google search "wana sea urchins" and you'll see what they look like. Ouchie. They hide in the rocks out in the water--and there are a lot of rocks. So if you swim out there, just keep your feet up. Easy as that. Launiupoko is such a great place to have parties and get togethers. It's got everything you need for a great day at the beach! Don't forget water, sunscreen and lots of aloha.

Yelp
Excellent family beach park!! Accessible, clean bathrooms and lots of grassy areas as well as picnic tables with grills under huge canopy trees. The beach is but a stone's throw away and boasts easy, gentle waves. The water conditions to the right of the bathrooms appears to be a bit more aggressive and is suitable for body surfers and beginning surfers. There's also what appears to be a man-made lagoon just for the little kids with very little to no waves at all. The beach also seems to be a very popular place to paddle board. We truly enjoyed this family friendly beach park when we held a wedding rehearsal beach barbecue. Clean & shaded for those who were anti-sun and bright sunny beach areas for sun worshippers. Aside from the ideal water conditions I just couldn't get past how clean this beach park is in comparison to other beach parks in Oahu. Parking was not an issue as we were there pretty early, however areas that appeared to be no-parking areas were occupied by beach park visitors. So I guess you park knowing the risks of getting towed.

Yelp
Nice beach to come too. The keiki have a place to swim in its like a little pond they can play in. Very safe. Also good beach to paddle board at when there's waves. One thing i like they have clean bathrooms. That's a plus for me. You can also pulehu they have grills you can use. Plus if your lucky you might even run into a MMA fighter....

Yelp
I can't get enough of beaches where the surfers and their ohana gather to chill on a weekend to eat ono bbq and chillax. Serene, yet a dope spot to surf and paddle board. Lots of locals eating and just wondering why people work in offices on the mainland. I'm wondering the same damn thing. Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka, Kama'aina

Yelp
Great place to take the family for BBQ. Lots of shaded places. Don't swim here tho. It was rocky and clouded. The surf looks good. Parking is creative when crowded. Work with it. You'd totally come back here and recommend for BBQ family time.

Yelp
Perfect place to watch the 4th of July fireworks above Lahaina. Rather than be packed in watching fireworks in downtown Lahaina, we drove a couple miles east and stopped at this park. The park had been filled all day with family picnics, enjoying the view, the swimming, the surfing, and their grilling. As sunset approached some headed home, leaving a few parking places for late comers. We pulled out a couple beach chairs and some snacks, walk all of 30 yards, then watched first the surfers, then the sunset, then the kids trying to blow each other up with fireworks, and finally the fireworks show over the ocean in Lahaina. To top it off, we got a head start driving home as the crowds dissipated in Lahaina. Made it back to Kihei for an 8:45 dinner. I'd recommend this place for a stop regardless of time of year or time of day. Big trees for shade, lots of picnic tables, bathrooms, showers, and more of a taste of Maui than you get on most beaches.

Yelp
Great beach for kids and adults. There is a little cove that keeps the water warm and calm for little kids. Picnic tables and a bathroom.

Yelp
Although this beach is small, there are a lot of surfers around taking advantage of all the waves. If you have kids, there's a little pond area that the water flows into which is great for toddlers to pitter patter their feet in. Come early and on weekends they have a farmer's market right across the street. Feeling thirsty? Just walk over to grab some fruit and you'll be refreshed.

Yelp
This is usually where the familiy gets together for the weekends since there are usually some waves for long boarding/ paddle boarding, showers, keiki pool (little kids tide pool thang) grass, grills and Hott Brazilian chicks! WTF! we had a bday for my niece and we turn around and bam, Booty booty booty booty booty everywhere! My brother was like, " those girls got some nices asses" I was like, "mmhmm, dayum" All the guys in and even the little fat kid was checking out the rears and the tangas they had on. I will never forget Portuguese when it's being spoken, so I told the boyz, "those right thurr, are brasilian booties I remember them oh so well when I was at Ipanema beach.

Yelp
In theory this beach is perfect for little kids! Protected lagoon, shallow, grassy shore, clean restrooms - everything you'd want. Maybe we went on a bad day, but our experience didn't live up to expectations. There were huge dogs running freely in the water - they seemed friendly enough, but my children and others were understandably skittish and scared when they got too close. Also there was a family fishing in the lagoon, including children. This worried us because little kids getting caught up in fish hooks would be no bueno. After spending 30 minutes constantly trying to shoo our children away from the fishing poles and trying to calm them after close encounters with big dogs, we packed up our stuff and moved on to Baby Beach where we all had a much more relaxing time.

Yelp
Perfect for kids! Natural pool with fish, shower, bathroom, nice shade and grassy area.
