"How do you combine a chef's passion for volcanoes and fire with a sommelier's passion for his craft? This restaurant unites the talents of two hospitality professionals who cut their teeth in renowned establishments. As for the food: the chef serves up his particularly tempting brand of cuisine based on flames and hot coals. French produce is meticulously combined with ingredients that are full of character – often spices – brought back by the chef from his many travels. A case in point: poultry from the Perche area grilled over binchotan, early courgettes and calçots (green onions), poultry jus with juniper. A lively, colourful feast, enhanced by a wide-ranging wine list." - Michelin Inspector

We had the tasting / surprise menu and were disappointed with the meal for three reasons: 1) Ambiance. They played relaxing music in the dining room but dance music in the kitchen. It was not relaxing to hear the two kinds of music overlapping simultaneously. 2) Each savoury dish was beautifully presented but over seasoned. Possibly they overdid the lemon or lime juice. Usually I love citrus flavours but this was not to my taste. The dessert was fine. 3) I found it overpriced for what it is.

The food is innovative and very well prepared, served with some nice twists.. the only weak dish was the haddock which simply did not work with its sauce and side… trust their choices on the wines to accompany and desert was delicious… absolutely give this spot a try… ENJOY!

Google
wow! absolutely loved dining here for lunch. i was greeted at the door and even when it was clear my french was horrible i appreciated my server sticking with french as its good practice. they have great options for the menu combinations. i chose the entree et plat. couldn’t tell you what i ordered but i will attach photos. the entree was a mushroom mix with egg and some sort of cream or something but it was very well seasoned and it came with some bread. the plat was a poultry dish with leeks and it was so good. again- well seasoned. and the presentation makes it even better. i loved the way the spaced out my dishes as some places i have been are not very good with that. they also offer champagne by the glass (prosecco by the bottle). overall, very delicious meal and i would consider coming back next time i visit paris.

Google
Delicoius food and impeccable service. We enjoyed the carte blanche five course surpise menu starting with foie gras, fllowed by an unusual chesnut soup, seabass, filet mignon and finally a chocolade mousse filled with choco-sorbet. Outstanding!

Google
Atmospheric contempory French restaurant, menu has nice ideas, food was decent but I wasn’t impressed. Service is excellent. We went for the a la carte menu but I’d suggest to choose the chef’s tasting menu, sounds more structured than getting different dishes to share.

We had the Chefs five step menu, My wife is allergic to nuts and this was made clear both in reservation and while seated. First dish was still served with nuts….(And a hair In the middle of the dish….) It was the most unbalanced menu we have had in many years of fine dining. The experience and service was good. But not even an apology for the hair in our entree. The dishes all look great, but the tastes dissapoints. The chef really loves citrus and it radiates inn most of the dishes and overpowers all other flavors. The dishes with no Citrus was ruined with a bad salty smoked flavour… I was really looking forward to this meal, but ended up very dissapointed which is super rare… I would not recommend any friends or family to visit. I apologize for the negative review, but this was just a bad experience for 250 Euros.

Our family has the best time at this restaurant. We had a recommendation from a family member that had visited this restaurant a few years back. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. We ended up choosing the tasting menu with the wine pairings. And we picked out the pork dinner for our son which was one of his top highlights from the vacation!! He said it was very yummy and wanted to go back for dinner there again. Every single dish that was served was delicious. The waitstaff were very friendly. And the owner and his wife(the chef) came out to talk with us. If we had had more time we probably would have tried to make it back there. We would definitely recommend this place!

Google
Our dinner at Lava was truly exceptional! Probably one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Each course was done with care and precision, with complex and inviting tastes and textures. We loved the wine pairings which were a seamless match with each dish. Our server was also wonderful - he was well informed, funny and friendly (and deftly dealt with our limited French). We highly recommend Lava!

Yelp
Immediately greeted by friendly staff and the atmosphere was welcoming! We had the 5 course chef's meal and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious! We have returned for the second year and will continue to do so... this has become our favorite restaurant in Paris.

Yelp
Thanks to the excellent application Lastable I decided to push the door of Louis Vins again. Indeed, 30% discount on the solids, I am not going to say no. My last visit in September 2014 had left me a little unsatisfied. Although the food was good, I really felt the lack of a guideline in the kitchen. We did not know where we were going. Today, we have moved significantly away from a purely bistro menu to explore cooking a little further. Bar quenelles, for example, have a spoonful of French caviar, with little brine, which counterbalances the powerful stock of crustaceans. Then a nice farm chicken breast, skin crispy but having lost none of its soft, accompanied by pork belly. On the latter, you can feel a product of very good quality, which is perfect for cooking and gives a delicious flavor. Mushrooms and mashed potatoes are in the same style. Strawberry cake generous in strawberries as shown in the photo. With a name like that, we have no doubt that the liquids menu is well furnished. The opposite would be sin! An excellent Pinot Noir 2015 Decelle Villa came to accompany this impromptu exit. Bill of 53 euros for 1.

Yelp
Mmmmmmm. The food made me forget that the service was a bit slow, but honestly, when you live in NYC all service will be slow. But the food was perfect! My seared duck was expertly cooked! The dauphinois potatoes were heavenly. And the trio of creme caramel desserts may have been one of my fav sweets. The pistachio one is honestly too 5 desserts ever! Wowza! I would 100% revisit this place!

Yelp
Made a reservation 4 weeks in advance and was seated back by the kitchen door. Champagne and wine were wonderful, but service failed to offer more wine after entree (starter), so our glasses remained empty, even though we asked for the sommelier. Complimentary amuse bouche was dry and flavorless. Zucchini blossoms were extremely greasy. Mint pea soup with lobster and burrata was very good, however the beef tenderloin (main plate) was severely over-seasoned and inedible. Extremely disappointed to waste a night in Paris at this restaurant.

Yelp
Great ambience, Super friendly staff (speaks English too), to top it all, the food is delicious!! I got the house special terrine and duck breast. The sides compliments the flavorful terrine. Duck breast is so tender and juicy.

Yelp
Food - 4.5 Stars. Service - 3 Stars. Rounding up to 4 stars. It's Sunday in Paris. Do you know what that means? It means everything is friggin closed. Gotta love those hardworking Parisians. Luckily we found Louis Vins open for dinner and made reservations. Food was great french cuisine. A little bit more modern twist on typical french fare but still with the basics (butter, cream, and fois gras) 3 courses for 28 euro. The restaurant was primarily full of locals which is a good sign. Service was quite slow even by european standards.

Yelp
One of the best restaurant in Paris by far ! always a pleasure to come here. special note for the fabulous waitress Elodie, she is so helpful and gave me awesome recommendations for the food and wine. Highly recommended !!!

Yelp
We were 6 from my family coming to Paris for New Years and picked this restaurant because of its location, traditional French cuisine and as they offered off the menu on NYE. I was quite surprised by how good the food was, from the delicious oysters, foie gras, veal with truffles, and praline chocolate cake for dessert. It was a treat. I would definitely go there again on my next trip to Paris.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Would've liked the advertised air conditioning to be true. Despite the heat, our favorites were mi-cuitae homemade foie gras (wickedly rich), escargot in pesto and garlic, and the filet of beef with blue cheese sauce (we asked to be cooked blue, and it was beautifully tender and delicious). Air conditioned wine room.

Yelp
Great food. Great evening with old New York friend Ralph Watt, who happens to live nearby the resto. We had a table out of hearing distance and our catching up after almost 40 years was undisturbed. Good value for money. We booked on La Fourchette with steep discount. -- Hotspur @ The PJ.

Yelp
I had lunch at this wine centric Left bank restaurant recently and was reasonably pleased. First, as you name implies, this is a restaurant that focuses on wine. They have a moderately sized list that focuses on mid priced wines ($30 - 100 Euro) and I must say that the list is very well selected. The food is not great, but is very good. My venison was more than acceptable and my dining companion's veal was lovely. The staff was very helpful, if not overly friendly. One word of warning, they take not credit cards.

Jia L.

Yelp
Large wine selection (as the restaurant name suggests). Food is solid, but designed not to outshine the food in taste or creativity. Great, cozy atmosphere.

Yelp

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant. It was early around 730 but there were already 2-3 groupings of clearly locals dining. The staff were genuinely friendly, gracious and helpful. Nice that they have translated the menu to English too. My first course of grilled mackerel was perfectly cooked and I loved the lamb sweetbread main course. My husband ordered the "head of veal" which was actually quite delicious -- tongue, brain, veal cheek, etc. etc. My pan of apricots for dessert was simple and perfect after a fairly heavy meal. The wines were very nice of course. I think they really care about the ingredients and that really shines through. They are not over sauced or hidden and dishes are bright and vibrant. I would definitely return again when in the neighborhood. Not for the average American tourist though, which is a plus.

Yelp
Our nearby hotel recommended this restaurant and I got the best meal we had in Paris. Good service, reasonable prices for three course meal. Delicious little thinly sliced sausage with our aperitifs. The main course was swordfish, expertly prepared and with really good sauces and veggies. My husband had cassoulet and loved it also.
