Lava Java

This is such a lovely place and the lady working there is super sweet. I always get the sugar free vanilla latte and I said half sweet and she made it just perfect!! She also asked me if I ever get anything else sugar free as they want to have more sugar free options but want to know what people like to drink. I was no help as I only like the sugar free vanilla but she would gladly like to hear others preferences.

This place is awesome. Their coffee smells so good and tastes great. They have the best kind of tea also. They're right across the street from Starbucks, but I didn't want to go to Starbucks because Starbucks is so chintzy in their bathroom.and they no longer even have paper towels. This place had a super clean bathroom with a nice smelling soap and paper towels. I'm glad we came here instead of going to Starbucks because their drinks also tasted way better ! Highly recommend!

We stop by this place every time we are in the area. It has a fabulous atmosphere. She always has a big welcoming smile to greet you when you arrive. You can tell she enjoys what she offers and takes pride in it. She is constantly making the environment a pleasing and enjoyable place to drink your coffee. She is so friendly and engaging in conversation with you. If/when you make a stop here you will get FANTASTIC coffee and you will feel like you’re her long time friend!

They really know their coffee here. Most flavorful and smooth breve I've ever gotten. No burnt bean taste and it goes down smooth. Definitely my favorite place to stop when I'm in the area and they have plenty of little community events to boot. All around a lovely place.

Lava Java is by far the best coffee shop in all of SW Washington! Fantastic coffee and atmosphere! I have been a patron for almost 25 years. The owner is the sweetest lady you will ever meet. And the drinks are by far the best you will ever have!

Just off I-5 you can find this wonderful friendly coffee shop. The owner a world winning barista runs the shop and makes some of the best coffees around. Surrounded by nice faces and a great space. This is one of my go to coffee shops in Ridgefield. I have been coming here for years. They also have great coffee selections for you home. Worth the stop every time.

This review is long overdue! I've been in 3 or 4x and I get something different each time. I've never had anything I didn't love and I'm such a fan! The barista is super friendly and the owner who is usually also around is lovely as well. Their muffins are killer! They also carry Proud Mary coffee which is awesome if you don't want to drive all the way to Portland and stand in their long line. If I had to change anything I'd love to see hot breakfast items on their menu but other than that I'm a happy camper!

LOVE this cute little coffee spot! I wasn't sure if this would be your typical coffee shop with the typical decor, over hyped, overpriced and under delivered. I was so glad I gave it a shot! I've tried multiple drinks on the menu and I love them all but my favorite was the lavender latte! Not overly floral, with just enough sweetness and the coffee is soooo smooth. Most of the chain coffee places have such strong acidic coffee that they have to add so much sweetener just for it to taste good. On the other hand, these small coffee shops aren't usually sweet enough for my liking. Lava Javas coffee was perfect!

I saw their sign driving down Pioneer. Didn't think there was a coffee shop in that particular plaza. Decided to give them a try. They have everything you could want for coffee. I also love that they have pictures of what exactly is in each drink. So, if I ordered a latte then it shows exactly how much milk is in it and how much espresso is in it. They are so very friendly as well. My son came in with me and they gave him a kids cup of whipped cream and sprinkles. He was so happy! He now requests to go there when we pass by. There's a lot of sitting space as well. I do wish they had some more hot food items for breakfast though. We will be back again!

We love Lava Java! The coffee is the best around and Phoun always has a welcoming smile and a friendly chat with us. If you have time, stop in, you'll be happy you did.

Stopped by because it was the first coffee shop I saw in Ridgefield, and I'm thrilled that I did! The barista was so friendly, the menu was brilliantly informative (while still being simple and quick to read!) She had great recommendations for us as visitors to Ridgefield, and even mentioned a cool pizza spot near where we live. The lattes were delicious, and we will absolutely be back the next time we're in town

Super cute coffee shop with excellent service. I just ordered a vanilla latte but it was delicious. They were sweet enough to offer my daughter a little cup of whip cream and sprinkles so it kept her happy while I enjoyed my coffee. Definitely will be back!

Stopped by here on route to Seattle, heard rumors that coffee was great. Well the coffee was ok, the interior stark boring, the owner barista, an a$$hole. Curt, $hit personality. Avoid.

No one else in the place but owner/barista was decidedly unpleasant. Not necessarily impatient with us on our ordering but snotty about it. At closing time, she immediately kicked us out instead of letting us finish our coffee. As I said, there were no other customers.

[Visited July 22nd, 2023] My boyfriend and I stopped here because it was on the way to the casino's in La Center. Phuon, the owner was very personable and friendly. We had a great conversation and she told us about things to do in town since we are new to the area. It has a very bright, clean, and fun atmosphere. Would definitely love to do some homework here one day. You can tell they care about this space I got an oat milk mocha and my boyfriend got an americano. We both really really liked our drinks! Yum! Will definitely return soon.

Lava Java is a must when passing Ridgefield, WA. Phuong Tran is the owner and an award-winning barista. She's a master of her art and very welcoming too! :)

Really cute place and the coffee is delicious! The staff is extremely friendly and very welcoming. Wonderful place to stop by and grab a coffee. I got an oat latte and it was delicious :) 100% would recommend

My friend and I went to Lava Java to have coffee and meet up with another friend, but that hangout never occurred inside Lava Java because the ambiance just was not it for us. The inside feels extremely small with its low ceilings. It was so quiet that we didn't feel comfortable conversing because everyone in the room could hear every word of ours.

I love supporting this small coffee shop! There are literally two Starbucks down the street but I prefer Java Lava! Love coming here for the caramel latte with oat milk, never disappoints!! It's always very welcoming, Very clean, airy and zen when the machines aren't going off :) If you want to come work here, they turn on their Wi-Fi to the public from 11 am-3 pm ONLY, so have that in mind if you come work here. They do have restrooms for you to use. There's no food, only a few snacks and muffins. Can't wait for my next latte from Java Lava!

IVE BEEN GOING TO Lava Java for 15 years and it remains one of my favorite coffee shops along I-5 always great coffee and great friendly service, I always look for to chatting with the owner and baristas and of course the incredible coffee and good snacks, Do yourself a huge favor and stop in Lava Java and grab coffee from one of the best, I guarantee your day will be a little brighter.

To pep us up for the remainder of a long trip home to Seattle, an Internet search for espresso led us to Lava Java. What a lucky break! The latte and mocha rivaled anything we'd had back home. The barista obviously knew his way around a La Marzocco machine...the espresso was rich and flavorful and the crema was especially excellent. We had a nice chat, too, and continued home much refreshed. We'll be back whenever we stop for a charge at Ridgefield.

Great place to get coffee and support a local business , staff is super friendly and I heard they have yoga on Thursdays in the shop!! Pretty cool! Please check them out if u have not all ready and support the local community and your coffee cravings!!

A lovely coffee shop! My sister-in-law brought me here before our little trip to Long Beach. I've been struggling to find good coffee in Washington. I don't really like Starbucks and if I was going to get a Starbucks it would be at the OG Starbucks in Seattle! Ok, but enough about Starbucks! The vanilla cappuccino I got here was divine! It also was the perfect temp for my taste buds! Hot, but not burning your tongue hot. It was nice and sweet and had extra foam! It was the best cappuccino I've ever had! I wish I got a bigger size, but there is always next time!

Never knew this great coffee shop was so close to the freeway. We travel between Seattle area & Portland once a month. So happy to find this wonderful place. Clean. Inviting. Friendly. It's a Keeper!

Excellent place for a quiet cup of coffee and to conduct a bit of quiet Business as well. Good service with two young gals at the counter but no cash only credit cards or debit I find a little odd and another drawback is no rest rooms? Parking is adequate in the lot outside?

Ordered an iced mocha, not bad - kinda on the sweet side. Maybe a little too sweet for my liking but nonetheless great for a hot day like today. Would've given a five star review if the customer service was there...When we walked in, there was all of 2 people in there. One may have been a worker or former employee just chatting away with the lady behind the counter about the schedule. Barista took our order and that was it. No other words were exchanged. I wanted to make eye contact with the barista to say "thank you" but she was quickly on her phone after making our drinks and chatting with the other female at the counter. Maybe we just walked in at the wrong time and interrupted their conversation. Overall cool place!

OUTSTANDING!!! I've always loved Lava Java! They are THE BEST coffee around and the owner is the sweetest person ever buttttt let me tell you folks. . . She is now selling "do it yourself" at home fresh ramen kits and they are to die for!!! So flavorful. So fresh. So delicious the thumbs all the way up!!! Go grab one today. You won't be disappointed

Place is amazing!!! Some of the best coffee I have ever had in my life, I would recommend a simple hot mocha, I swear it's somehow made with love. Everyone was also very friendly, I felt very welcomed!

Got a cup of coffee at this spot and I'm sorry to say that my decaf, almond milk latte tasted bitter or a bit burned. Great service and food but I wasn't impressed with the taste of the coffee. Perhaps this was just a bad day so I'll eventually go back and try it again.

Where to begin, if you're going to require a mask then you need to have a sign posted on your building somewhere. You don't tell someone to put a mask on after they get up to the counter. Also when you have three people standing in line and you have the employee standing behind the counter laughing telling jokes to another person for four or five minutes while other people are waiting in line it's time to hire someone else. Doesn't matter how good your coffee is if your customer service sucks. When you give a coffee Company three tries and every time you walk in there's an issue then it's time to go somewhere else... customer service should be your highest priority nothing else matters if you can't acknowledge your customers who are walking through the door.

A great neighborhood place that serves good coffee at a good price. The owner/barista is wonderfully talented and somewhat of a celebrity. It is right off the freeway so if you need a drink and are in the area take the exit and do yourself a favor and grab a good cup of coffee.

Stop by and get your local coffee here in Ridgefield. I had a latte and it is delicious. Not bitter or sweet. Just right. Love the heart on top. The special touch.

The barista was friendly and knowledgeable and crafted our 6+ drinks efficiently and skillfully. I enjoyed one of the best Vanilla Honey Lattes I've had, maybe ever.

The coffee here is my hands down favorite but I never get a warm reception from the staff or baristas. I notice that they are friendly to "known" regulars but never to me or my husband. It's too bad because I prefer to promote small business

Yikes. Chilly is the right word. We came in here for the first time to get breakfast and coffee, the space looked great as we walked in! It's decorated beautifully, but YIKES! We weren't greeted when we walked in- unless you count a stare down and glare as a hello. It could have been just us (a very plain and basic couple), since everyone after us received a hello or good morning. The menu is hard to decipher, it's artistic but not clear. There's a table to the left, we aren't sure if it's display only of what they offer or where you're supposed to get your food. I say that because when we picked up our food the gentleman at the counter gave us the dirtiest look and went back to get more and restock. Coffee was pretty pricey and nothing special. Honestly when I come into a shop for coffee in this area, the coffee is about 40% and the customer service is 60%. Being treated coldly and like I'm inconveniencing you by spending my money in your store, nah no thanks.

I might expect to be snubbed or treated condescendingly at a snobby Portland coffee shop but when I came to a Ridgefield coffee shop off the beaten path, I certainly did not. The owner took our order and proceeded to rip my head off for asking for a free pour latte. I admit I havent been a barista in about five years and things are always changing in coffee but to demean devalue and belittle your customers is never okay- not even in Portland. They serve Stumptown so the coffee is obviously good and the baristas are well trained but the customer service is abusive. The barista tried to make up for it with friendly chit chat but the lady who took our order (and is the owner) was horrible to us. Would never return here for anything and highly recommend you find coffee elsewhere if you want to be treated like a human being and want to enjoy the rest of your day.

I am in the process of moving to Ridgefield from across the river in Oregon. I stopped in for a coffee prior to unloading my items into my new house. This is the only coffee location close to the freeway. The parking lot is a bit small for the small for the amount of business in the strip mall. I ordered a medium black coffee and it wasn't fresher brewed. It was poured from a carafe and was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for fresher coffee but I did stop in about 1000 and the morning rush passed by. I grabbed a muffin to go for a snack and wished there was a bit more of a selection in food items. I may have visited on an off day so I will try again down the road.

The nicest place in town to work and have coffee. No obnoxious loud music, great seating, lots of outlets to charge. They also have a no wifi rule before 11am or so to promote social interaction. Two small two person tables outside incase you want some fresh air and most importantly, the coffee is great!

Cute place. The coffee is yummy and service is great. The only thing missing is some music and some yummy pastries. But it is a good spot.

Wow, such a cold environment! From the decor to the staff! Chilly! The coffee was fine, nothing exciting. No specials or holiday flavors. Menu is a little cryptic and since the staff aren't at all friendly you're on your own to decipher it.

Over priced coffee!! And low quality taste. They use to be better like 19 years ago, this place has gone down in customer service and location. Won't be getting my support

Quick walk from the gas station next door, totally worth it for a high quality cappuccino. They still make it cute even though it's to-go!

Stopping through to get coffee on the way back home, we stopped in what we thought would be a nice coffee shop. Talking to the barista, we expressed our love for coffee and how we have our own espresso machine at home. The barista stated as "a professional" that she advises we should not waste our time trying to do it at home and we should just spend money at coffee shops instead in a very pretentious and snobby tone as if we didn't know what we were doing. As she continued insulting us and reminding us about how professional she is, we stood there and watched her burn our espresso shots. The coffee is mediocre, made with a cute design on top of the drink but clearly tastes burnt.

Such good coffee here! The very best in Clark County for sure!! Friendly staff, welcoming and kind. Will be back over and over! Yum!

This is a hidden gem. Desperate for good coffee after weeks in the "wasteland" we were hugely pleased to find them open on Thanksgiving after locating them on Yelp and calling from I-5. Great coffee, friendly service and a lifesaver to those of us stuck on the road on an otherwise grey,rainy day.
