The 26 Best Restaurants In Paris - Paris - The Infatuation

"This is the most recent (and biggest) addition to the L’Avant Comptoir snack-and-sip family. While the two other locations near Odeon are known for standing-room-only crowds where you might end up elbowed in the face as someone reaches for the giant slab of butter on the bar, this one has plenty of space and even some actual chairs. But there’s still some edge in the form of a grumpy and impatient bartender who won’t pour tasting after tasting (even if you speak French), so come feeling decisive. Luckily, the small bowl of whipped tarama sprinkled with chives and basil pesto gets served with a semi-smile. Paired with a dense corn and wheat flour bread filled with flecks of sunflower seeds, it’s the perfect late afternoon snack when you’re hungry after wandering around St.-Germain-des-Prés" - sara lieberman, lindsey tramuta

The first place we went to after arriving in Paris. Wanted to try some small dishes, but the others in my group were adventurous so we ended up just getting two dishes. We mostly got alcohol. Staff were amazing, expanding everything in English because we didn’t speak a word of French. The food we had was great. We were given bread, and as much pickles and butter you want. Be prepared to stand or sit on high stools, because there aren’t proper chairs and tables.

Great food, laid back casual atmosphere. Can be quite challenging to find a table but adds to the charm of the spot. Great place for drinks and food.

Google
I absolutely love this place and its unique concept! No reservations, it’s first come, first served. You order your drinks and tapas directly at the bar, and if you’re lucky, you’ll grab a table (and maybe even a chair!). But honestly, it’s all part of the charm. One of my favorite spots in Paris to enjoy amazing bites, chat with friends, and soak in the fun, lively atmosphere.

Standing dining experience was great fun. Food was good but what added to the whole experience were the staff and the positive noise from all the customers. Lovely place

Super ♥️ this place recommended by my sister @mltiangco ! Les Avant comptoir du marche 🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖 @les_avantcomptoirs You go to the bar & order so that’s what I did and I told the guy there that I could only have 3 dishes so please give me the best. He told me he will give me a secret menu 🤣 and I trusted him! and wow it was all good!!!! My favorite was the foie gras which was buttery yummy! And apparently that guy happened to be the owner - Cotu. I highly recommend this place!!! There is a nice gourmet store beside- check it out also

Yelp
I've been back here a few times and I really love the vibrant, lightly chaotic, always delicious atmosphere here. If you want what you might call an "authentic" Parisian experience, this is absolutely the place. If you want a fine dining, obsequious service environment, please go elsewhere--this is for people who occasionally enjoy a good time! Order anything seasonal on the menu, order plentifully, and order wine by the glass; you'll have a terrific time if you don't take yourself too seriously. During a fall visit, I enjoyed all the Saint Jacques (scallop) dishes, and during the summer, I got more of a vegetable-focused selection. Don't forget to load up a scallop shell with butter and cornichons to take back to your perch, and say hi to the pigeons who might be visiting your table in search of some delicious morsels!

Yelp
For a wine bar I wasn't expecting the best food but everything I had was very tasty and well presented

Yelp
One of my favorite spots that I've ever had lunch in Paris. I understand it's a very popular place at Happy Hour too. I found it as it was on Time Out's list of top wine bars in Paris from 2019. We went in Feb 2020 so I'm a little late writing this review. Back then it was little hole in the wall that you walk through plastic flaps to get in. Once you do, you're hit with the most delicious smells. It was a random Tuesday, around 2pm and it was still packed (mostly locals as well which I love.) We sat at the bar and I asked the bar tender in my best French for the wine list. (I had been practicing for 7 months in prep for this trip so it wasn't that great.) This large, burley man waved up and down at himself and said in English, "I am the wine list." Thank goodness for him as the whole back wall is full of beer and wine from local, small batch breweries and wineries. Suffice it to say, that day we had marvelous wine. Before Covid, there were plates of fresh butter on the table and they bought you bread out of the oven. The menu items hang from meat hooks on the ceiling (all pig dishes as the restaurant name suggests. It's small, shared plates. I think we tried a meat and cheese plate, some veggies, a sandwich and tripe. I had never had tripe but it was excellent. We talk about this place all the time and can't wait to go back. Also, the restauranteur has a few additional places in Paris with idea to other delicacies. Believe there is one that highlights fish and another for beef. From what I hear, they are all worth trying out as well.

Yelp
We've tried to eat/drink here two different years and getting a seat is a jockeying match, fine. I can do that for a good place. Tonight we decided to go inside and get a bottle of wine to drink while we were waiting for a table. They didn't have a wine list. I noticed they had a vin de la semaine posted: a Mourvèdre-carignan blend from the languedoc. I asked for this and he said they were out but had a Pinot noir from the Alsace that was almost like it. I looked at him and asked if he thought I was stupid, that they were nothing like each other. He insisted they were so I turned and left. Either their staff has no idea what they are selling, or he was incredibly insulting by trying to tell me these two wines were the same. I will never try to go there again.

Yelp
Absolute gem right near our hotel. My dad and I visited during our first time in Paris and the tapas were incredible. Fresh bread and butter were readily available, and the staff made a great wine suggestion that was just what we were looking for. It's more casual where you order at the counter and they bring the dishes to the table but it was a great ambiance and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our food was fantastic and we will definitely be visiting again as soon as we're back in Paris. A must eat when in town!

Yelp
Four dishes to share for lunch, a basket of yellow crusty bread w sunflower seeds shows up w it and you go to the counter to order and serve yourself freely lots of butter. It's a 20lb island of salty sweet creamy delicious butter. Boudin I would get two it's the blood sausage, excellent! Absolute excellent. RICH decadent, savory, and fried crispy on the flat. I would get two but it did knock me out and I seeked siesta. I would also get 2 terrine campagne which is like a ground meat aspect business that is excellently seasoned. Excellent! Deux s'il vous plait autre fois. (Canadian French kix in). Veal skirt steak is good w great sauce but my heart stayed w the boudin (blood sausage) and terrine campagne (beef goodness)

Yelp
I only give this place a lower star because their is not enough seats. It is small, and packed and half the people have to stand, but it is worth it. The "tapa" style french dishes are innovative and most just darn good. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, but it is worth it. This is one of several in their brand as you can check out on Facebook. No reservations and this is the easiest location to access because it is the newest and farther from foot traffic. Here is the secret....the butter. It is so crazy good my friend that came asked me to go back and see how much to dry ice it to her country. Yeah, it's good enough to think about for months on end.

Yelp
Unbelievably wonderful and fun experience here. Phenomenal wine and even better tapas! No seating so be prepared to stand and eat at a crowded bar (which is fun). The menu is huge and my wife and I tried many different dishes and they were all winners. My wife who loves artichoke ordered the cooked artichoke that came with a delicious vinaigrette sauce to dip it in. When she finished eating all the meat off the leaves she was informed they would prepare the center of the artichoke for her. They then took back the artichoke heart and chopped/prepared it in a truly original way to create a whole second dish. We were impressed. If you are adventurous and like to socialize this place is for you. It was full of local young, professional Parisians.

Yelp
You like bread, fresh bread served with endless amounts of perfectly salty butter, unique tapas, great vibes and wine? This is the spot. The menu is hanging above you and special written on the chalk wall. It's a stand up only place but it works. Each dish is small and unique. Even better to bring a friend and share as many as possible. Blood Sausage Macaron. I had so many people recommended this and I hesitantly finally tried it. And OMG it was amazing! A perfect blend of sweet salty and savory. The blood sausage wasn't one that I knew and swore I would never try again, it was just perfect. Please try this, for me :-) There's a huge mound of butter sitting on the bar every couple feet for everyone to share. And man that butter is perfect the bread, which I can't remember what kind it was was hard to resist as well. I've i've sampled so many tapas, and they've all been great but it's the Blood Sausage Macaron that I keep coming back for.

Yelp
It does not get better than that: service, food, wine and atmosphere. If you want a trendy tapas bar with great french dishes, great music and waiters with a contagious happiness....look no further! i has an amazing night there and would travel to Paris just to spend a night at the comptoir. my only regret is that you can only sit at the bar, on high chairs...so it gets a bit uncomfortable after a while.

Yelp
This was the last of 3 restaurants like this. The other two are much smaller. But all have pictures of food having grin the ceiling as a menu. The food is a little different at each place. You won't have to worry about limited options. The staff at each was very friendly. We picked half of our options at each one, and asked the server to pick the other two. Event they picked was amazing, and nothing that we ate was bad. It was recommended by a friend who knows the area, we would never have found this on our own. It's totally worth it though. Delicious food, fun staff, and interesting environment. Go there and try all the things!

Yelp
One of the best casual meals you will have in Paris. Amazing wine, informative staff, and inventive, delicious small plates. I recommend this place to everyone visiting Paris. J'adore L'avant Comptoir!

Yelp
Wonderful place for a great glass of wine. The waiters will help to choose what type of wine you might like. Great prices make you stay longer than you should! La Syrah & Les Escures Malbec sont très bien!

Yelp
Very nice place for inventive tapas. Great selection of wine. Come as you are and enjoy the moment and food
