I've been to some good farmer's markets, some bad ones and a few great ones. This one rates above average, but doesn't quite hit the 'great' scale in my opinion. They do have some unique things, but I'm not sure if that was limited to the day I visited or if the same people are there all the time.
I have to say that I like a bargain. There aren't many to be had here, with exception of the management area. In this location, (right in front), you can buy tokens by card, (credit or SNAP), and for every $5 you buy in tokens, you get a $2 coupon for fresh fruits and vegetables.
Like anywhere else, some vendors are better than others. Overall, they're pretty friendly, but a few not so much. There wasn't much in the way of fruit, which kind of was a let down. I got peaches and cherries from 2 different vendors.
The cherries were pretty equal, but one of the peaches was superior. I'd advise asking for a sample before buying. Some vendors offer samples. I tried the hard ciders and wasn't impressed. They are very dry, and I had expectations of them being more sweet than dry.
If dry wines are your thing, they might be for you. This stand also had other things, and I did try a few things. I was a bit disappointed that some stock was very limited. The only stand that had eggplant only brought 5 small ones and they were snatched up as I was in line.
The baked goods were very good and I thought priced right. The foccocia bread was done well, with a cheese finish that made it exceptional. I thought there could have been more vendors in attendance. I did get corn there, reasonably priced and I was assured it was fresh picked.
It was very good corn.
Some reviews favor the coffee vendor, which I did not try. I like this location better than the Arsenal Park one. It is more compact and not spread out like the one at the park. The first hour has a mask mandate in place, so if masks aren't your thing, avoid the first hour.
On the other hand, with some things being in short supply, you could miss out on a few things.
