I think Layla is smart and fun and festive. The cocktails are good, they are friendly, food is above average. But if I'm going to be paying upwards of $30 for a burger and fries (these are Daniel Boulud prices, when he introduced the world to the $27 DB Bistro burger, and its signature "blend" over 20 years ago) I wish the management would kick in a bit more and help these hard working servers out. Our table shouldn't be littered with crumbs where we're literally pushing them away after a few courses.
Our first cocktails arrived after 2 courses, and the first couple of apps were served to us at supersonic speed where we could barely catch our breath (after a promise they would be "coursed.")
Additionally, my partner's chicken entree had a knife on the plate buried under a mound of sauce. He had to wipe it off, soaked and dripping, with his napkin to eat the course. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
Layla, I'm a fan, but at these prices, let's introduce some more professionalism and focus into the experience.
