"Layla Vartanian, owner of Layla’s Honky Tonk on Broadway, a classic Nashville spot for bluegrass fans with bands playing nightly below a ceiling lined with vintage license plates, didn’t comment on statistics or how the pandemic affects her popular honky-tonk, but she says her plans for the future are simple. 'My plans for the future are to just keep going as I am — stay safe, be careful, wear a mask, and trust in the Lord.'" - Delia Jo Ramsey

Layla’s in downtown Nashville is a really cool honky-tonk bar! The band was fun, and it wasn’t overly packed, so I managed to snag a seat at the bar. The staff were very friendly, and the crowd was a mixed bunch of all ages, all enjoying the music. The band played a mix of country, western, and rock, taking requests from the crowd, which was awesome. I also found it fascinating to check out all the license plates on the roof. Overall, it was a fun experience at Layla’s!

Google
Been here 3-4x. Easily my favorite of the honky tonks I’ve visited. Great music (particularly The Bankshafts), vibe is chill/relaxed, cheap Layla’s Light Lagers and above + beyond service from the barkeeps: Stevie recommended a bunch of places to see/things to do and Lindsey found some purchases my friend left behind so we could retrieve them a couple daze later. Love Layla’s

Google
Layla's is certainly a staple on Broadway. It boasts a rich history. There are a ton of old license plates on the ceiling from all over. The music was great and the bar was hopping. They do have souvenirs (like most of the bars / Honky Tonks). We had a great time here (our first stop on the strip on our Nashville visit)!

Google
If you’re looking for an unforgettable night out in Nashville, Layla’s is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, the energy was electric, and the live music had us dancing from the start. But what truly made our night was the incredible service from bartenders Cass and Lindsey! These ladies not only mixed up some of the best drinks we’ve ever had, but they also made us feel like we were part of the Layla’s family. We had so many laughs with Cass and Lindsey—they brought the fun, made sure we were taken care of, and kept the good vibes going all night long. Huge shoutout to them for making our night a total blast! Can’t wait to come back for another round at Layla’s!

Google
Our favorite Honkey Tonk in Downtown Nashville. The bartenders are great. Sara, GG, Matt just to name a few, including Cecil who shoe shines out front was a great steward. They really take the time to get to know you. They made us feel like family this week. Amazing bands throughout the day and probably some of the best A/C in town

Suzanne Driessen

Google
The best musicians play here at this real honky tonk bar. David Graham and The Eskimo Brothers always put on a great show! Snag a spot at the upstairs rail for a great view of the band. Love Layla’s!

Dean Padgett

Google
Came in to see Tanner Burch, had a great time! Sara our bartender was excellent and works her tail off, met Bill on the Grill who cooks up the grub and gave me the history of Laylas! Great guy! Felt like family by the time we left. Awesome place!

A. Nowaczyk

Google
I didn’t think this would be for me, but checked out Nudie’s, Kid Rock’s place, and Layla’s. Kayla’s had the best vibes, and some good honky tonk. Really chill, and the drinks were good. Fun time.

Andrea R.

Yelp
We did eat it was our first stop getting in Nashville and we had music on our mind! What a great vibe as soon as we walked in! We met "slash" with hat and he was great! Love the license plates on the ceiling with the history attached to them. Just a fun stop along the way!

Nicole J.

Yelp
Chicken was super crispy, yet tender and moist inside. Even the mild had a kick to it so choose accordingly. Mac n Cheese was creamy and delicious.

Heather J.

Yelp
Music is good usually. Family of the band members really shouldn't be permitted to take up the front spots and get up to sing on stage. Not fair to the patrons who came to see the scheduled performers. Happens every Sunday afternoon.

Fred G.

Yelp
Let's start with the service...Cassandra was amazing up top on the second floor. She moves drinks with a speed that is unmatched but still makes you feel honored and cared for. Thank you from my entire group. Payton Collier and his band are amazing. Humor matched with incredible talent. We find ourselves on Broadway 4-5 times a year and I am not sure I have enjoyed a band as much as we did last night. And...in typical Nashville fashion a renowned song writer made a stage appearance and sung back ups to Blue on Black-Ms Tia Sellers. Surreal. Thanks Layla's for a true memorable night.

Robert L.

Yelp
Cold beer good music . What more could you want. Good bar service. Convenient location just down the street from Tootsies.

Jose L.

Yelp
Had the best time ever for my first visit to Nashville with the team at Layla's Honky Tonk. Cassandra, Wayne & Lauren were friendly, attentive and courteous. Enjoyed the music stylings of Payton Collier Band & the Beatles set was my favorite. Didn't get to try the food, but it smelled delightful and had some good offering. Enjoyed reading about the history of how Layal's came to be established & hope this place continues to be successful. Thank you all for a memorable time!

Jamie S.

Yelp
What a great time. Bartender was awesome! Music was fantastic! Didn't have food, just stopped in to listen to some good love music and have a couple beers.

Scott T.

Yelp
sorry, no go. just puts a lot of honky out there... not a lot of Tonk involved... did not love this one

Jane S.

Yelp
Awesome honky tonk with music and a great vibe! i went on Christmas night and the decorations were fun- really great musical act that shouted out this as s great place to see music without a lot of distracting big screens or hoopla of multiple floors. People were dancing up a storm to thr music!

Joe C.

Yelp
Decent Bar on the Strip We stopped in on a weekday afternoon. It was crowded, but we got a seat at the quietest spot at the end of the bar so we could both converse and listen. The musics we heard was more country rock (drums and electric guitar) than the 5 or 6 traditional acoustical string instruments. I was disappointed, but this was the only "bluegrass" spot we saw on the strip, which is mostly loud country rock. Tip: Best beer prices on the strip Thanks

Alison M.

Yelp
This is one of the places we stayed for the shortest amount of time, part was bc we were trying to hit a bunch of places and another part was the band playing the night we stopped in wasn't as good as some of the others we had already heard so we wanted to either keep going, or go back to one of those places. It's smaller inside and a bit older than some of the newest spots - but was cute and comfy with a nice bar area.

Rashan H.

Yelp
I didn't eat here - just drinks- but this place is a hoot! Band was smoking hot! Bartenders are working hard!

Yelp
Nestled amongst the neon glow of Nashville's iconic Broadway street, Layla's isn't just another honky tonk. It's a haven for genuine good vibes, foot-stompin' tunes, and a down-home atmosphere that wraps you in a warm Southern embrace. From the moment you step inside, Layla's charm takes hold. Vintage license plates twinkle overhead, casting a golden glow on the worn wooden floors and exposed brick walls. The air hums with the infectious energy of live bluegrass music, weaving its way through conversations and laughter like a well-worn fiddle string. But Layla's magic lies not just in its setting, but in its people. The bartenders are quick with a smile and a story, weaving tales of Nashville's rich musical tapestry between pouring smooth pours of bourbon and frosty mugs of beer. The servers navigate the bustling crowd with practiced ease, their friendly banter adding to the convivial spirit. And then there's the music. Oh, the music! Whether you're a bluegrass aficionado or a casual toe-tapper, Layla's lineup will have you tapping your feet and humming along before you know it. Local bands fill the air with foot-stompin' rhythms and soul-stirring vocals, each note vibrating with the raw energy of Nashville's musical heart. Layla's on Broadway is more than just a bar; it's an experience. It's a place where time slows down, worries melt away, and the only thing that matters is the music, the laughter, and the shared joy of being in the heart of Nashville. So, grab your boots, your dancing shoes, and your love for all things Americana, and head to Layla's. You might just find yourself leaving with a heart full of memories and a soul serenaded by the sweet sounds of bluegrass. P.S. Keep your eye open for LAYLA! We actually had the opportunity to meet her and have a drink with her. It's remarkable to hear her story, and would love to read the book of Layla's life :).

Jaclyn B.

Yelp
We didn't order any food but the staff at the bar were great! The vibes were good and overall cute little dive bark on Broadway.

Magda V.

Yelp
The music was great. The employees were super friendly. Drinks were good. Definitely will go back!

Danielle V.

Yelp
A favorite on Broadway, only one floor of music but some of the best I have heard. The bar tenders are super nice and the inside is really cool. The prices are decent too for being a Broadway bar. Not as crowded and more down to earth than some of the bars on the strip. I really enjoyed it, and it's a must stop if you come to Nashville.

Nataliya M.

Yelp
We had an amazing time. The band was just fantastic. I love variety of different music, but they just seemed so organic and live on stage. We flew from KansasCity in all. We absolutely love where we from. I feel like the talent was just amazing to see And hear. This band had a very young guitarist who did a really great job but most of all the singer was just amazing. I need to find the name of this band. Trying to google them right now. Sorry I was too loaded to ask questions. I was just enjoying my life. Such talent

Valerie M.

Yelp
Amazing music but bartender working tonight ruined my night. Younger brunette with bangs. Not good service towards me as a customer.

Hannah P.

Yelp
A small, vibrant joint in the heart of Broadway. We went a couple of times during our long weekend in Nashville. Vintage license plates line the ceilings and there is swag available for purchase. Drinks were fine - we only ordered canned beverages. Service was also relatively quick - we were often greeted within a couple of minutes of getting to the bar. The upstairs is a balcony, so it's the same band. This is unlike other places on Broadway that may have different bands on each floor. The first band we saw was average. We really enjoyed the band on our second visit. We didn't order any food so can't provide any commentary on that.

Brent P.

Yelp
Very old school location and loved the ambiance. Not fancy like a lot of the new ones. Beer was cold and bartenders very nice to us. Would go back for sure.

Anastasia S.

Yelp
Im here for a work trip and my husband birthday. We came down broadway and were stopped in our tracks when we saw Laylas! We have a daughter named Layla so we had to go in! We were friendly greet by Stevie who we became very quick friends with! We got drinks and came back tonight for drink and food were so happy when we saw Stevie! This place will hold a special place to our heart with a seat for Stevie! Will highly recommend this place our friends when they visit! I wish we could pack Stevie and bring her home to Boston she is the BEST!

Yelp
When traveling to Nashville, Tennessee in the heart of the Lower Broadway entertainment area, you'll find a ton of honky-tonk bars around here. One of which is none other than "Layla's Honky Tonk"; a 2-story venue complete with stiff drinks, cold beer, comfort food, and of course some good old live music. Located at 418 Broadway in between 4th & 5th Avenues, Layla's is very close to the Bridgestone Arena and in the heart of the historic Broadway District. I came here around 1:30pm during the afternoon of Sunday 9/26/2021. The weather was perfect, there was Titans football playing just a couple miles away, people were on the party busses, and it was an all-out fun vibe everywhere. And inside Layla's was no exception. The inside of this place is known for a display of hundreds of license plates; I mean you could spot literally every state in the USA. Add to that the colorful lighting, spacious seating area, and friendly staff, you've got yourself one amazing bar/venue. Those that know me already know that I am a big time whiskey drinker. Since I actually do have family in Tennessee/Kentucky, this does not surprise me one bit. So I did what was right and ordered myself a Jack Daniels & Coke. I have to say, drinking this in Nashville hit differently than my home state of California. But it sure did hit the spot. In addition to their very wide whiskey/bourbon selection, they carry all types of spirits, plenty of beers on tap, and even wines. What I didn't know was that they also serve food! Since my tummy was still digesting some Nashville hot chicken from a different place, I skipped on getting anything to eat. But they do carry comfort food classics such as fries, tots. burgers, and chicken. Not an extensive menu but a few options nonetheless. As I mentioned, the bartenders here were very nice, gave me a big smile, and I felt right at home during the whole time I was here. But what makes Layla's an over-the-top experience is their live music. During my visit, there was a country/blues/rock band playing songs covering major artists such as Georgia Satellites, Black Crowes, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their music was pretty damn good and these musicians in Nashville really give it their all. And with that said and done, I am giving "Layla's Honky Tonk" a unanimous five-star rating.

Lauri B.

Yelp
Stopped in briefly. I love all the license plates hanging from the ceiling. Broadway is so much fun! There's so much to see. I love these live se plates!! Great service too!

Staci S.

Yelp
Laylas was my cradle on a drunk Saturday night! thank you----see you again soon!!------;::::

Christina W.

Yelp
First time at Layla's, and I think it's one of the best honky tonks on Broadway! Which says a lot because Broadway is not a favorite place to be, but visiting friends and family always want to go there. It was also super easy to get in, and a very quick moving line! It's very cute, has a bunch of photo ops, and had an amazing band! There are two huge bars, one on arch floor, and a bunch of friendly bartenders. The drinks were reasonably priced for Broadway. We got Old Smokey peanut butter whiskeys and a slash of water. The bartenders have a good pour too. This won't be the last time we stop at Layla's!

Liz S.

Yelp
Amazing and incredible space and place to not only hear old school country and rockabilly...but look for Lindsey to get the best service ever! Live music! Love Lindsey!!

J N.

Yelp
On a Thursday afternoon, we were drawn into Layla's by the sound of a lively local band playing covers of country music legends. Despite its divey appearance , Layla's was very clean. By 4 pm, the crowd picked up. The bartender handled each patron quickly and kindly.

Alex T.

Yelp
Came here for some good honky tonk experience. It was great of course. . You walk in when the band is playing some good tunes. Head straight to bar dodging the people dancing, while dodging of course I got petted with my fur coat on. Lol. . So then I made it to the bar and I'm like what to get. Since it was a beer kind of night, let's get some Laylas lager since they make their own beers. 5 bucks for the can beer. . The bartender was sweet. She told me if you don't like it add a piece of lemon wedge and it will change everything. I tried a sip and made a stink face. After a squeeze of lemon wedge I made the ahhhh face. . So yea depending on the band, the music and vibe changes. People usually sit and watch. If it's a good tune, they join with claps, stomps, and your alway free to dance or find a dance partner. Honky tonk experience was memorable for this trip and my first time too. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day!

Candy N.

Yelp
I was charged an extra 20 percent tax. I didn't get this charge at any other bar on Broadway. Check out this tax for 2 drinks. I asked the server if this was normal and she said that all bars in Nashville charge 20 percent tax on Broadway, not the case, I went to several bars, Kid Rock, Jason Alden, Rippy's, Lucky Bastard, and many more, and none of them charged a 20 percent tax. The bartender said I wouldn't of had to pay the extra tax if I would of paid with cash, but she already ran my card.

Anna R.

Yelp
I will forever love Layla's because I had so much fun here. Small place with cool gritty vibes and the music was AMAZING. I was there on an off day (Sunday) and it was perfect. No lines for the bathroom. Never a wait for a drink. Space to dance in front of the stage or just sit back and listen along the wall. Intimate enough that the band was interactive with the crowd. The band definitely made the place but even without it, great bar and ambience and the bartenders were very friendly.

Jose C.

Yelp
Laylas is a smaller bar, and an even smaller crowd. The band performing was great, but there weren't as many people inside to develop a great atmosphere. I wasn't feeling the energy here so I didn't get any drinks. Not sure if I'd come back here.

Patricia R.

Yelp
Great little honky tonk with a good vibe and even better bands! Don't miss this spot on Broadway for down home fun and a nice ranch water. The trifecta would be Tootsies, Layla's and Robert's for a stellar bar hop in the downtown.

Adolfo B.

Yelp
Awesome bands and reasonable drink prices. The night we were there we had the fortune of seeing Krista Dudley (recording artist) with an awesome voice and John Bohlinger who is a historic person in the founding of country music. You do it right Laylas!

Ken J.

Yelp
Layla's was crazy crowed and great all at the same time. All the patrons inside the bar were friendly for I was not used to this. The bar staff was friendly and took great care of us. I did not see any food, and I was not hungry. The band we saw was in creditable. The lead singer ( I wish I knew his name, plays at the Ryman all the time). The young guy next to him needs to be playing at the Ryman. He was so good, had a great stage presence and super voice. This band was more straight up Country, old school, nice. kj

Mark N.

Yelp
Full transparency, we are not big country music fans. But this is a fun place to see some live music and have a beer.

Amy B.

Yelp
Great bar ambience & live country oldies & new mixed. Attentive bartenders and good vibes.

Kaileigh H.

Yelp
Stoped by Layla's for a quick beer and had to say the home light beer came fast and cold. Great place for a cheep drink and great live music.

Dmitriy K.

Yelp
I got assaulted by a bar tender here for ordering tap water in October 2012. I was done drinking for the night and relatively sober. My group was ordering drinks. The bartender told me "you can buy a drink or buy a bottle of water, I'm not giving you more tap water." I bought a bottle for $2 and didn't tip. He was angry at me. After dancing I asked for tap water again. He said "I ain't working for free here, order water again and see what happens." I said "my friends got plenty of drinks and have tipped. Please give me water and don't threaten me." He said "say it again punk and watch what happens!" He was twice my size but I didn't take the threat seriously. My first time to Nashville, I guess I was naive. I asked for water again, and he went around the bar and choked me, picked me up by my neck, dragged me out and threw me on the sidewalk. My friends were shocked and followed outside. I tried to tell the doorman and he told me to "f off" and that I was making it up. I saw a cop across the street and told him. I had my phone audio recording, stupidly told him that, and he said he would only help if I turned it off. The cop told me to wait outside while he went inside. He was there awhile and more cops arrived. He came out and told me "you jumped over the bar and assaulted the bar tender. They have security cameras and can prove this." I asked to see the footage. He said "go home or we'll arrest you." I was persistent that I went to them for help. They arrested me for public intoxication. I asked for a breathalyzer and they refused. I asked "why not charge me with assault then?" And they refused, knowing they could put me in jail for up to 24 hours for PI without having a case, and that an assault charge would have resulted in a court case where the truth would come out. I was sober in the drunk tank all night and further harassment from police in there. I discovered the bar owner was friends with the police. I'm from Boston and discovered what the "good old boy" network is in the south. I hired an attorney after. As the investigation started, the security footage mysteriously disappeared and the police and bar avoided the lawyer. I eventually gave it up and moved on with my life. Not worth the fight. I healed from the trauma and injustice of it. A decade later, I decided to speak up with this Yelp review. I'll probably publish it elsewhere too. All I would really like is a true, genuine apology from the bar. An extra would be an apology from the abusive bar tender. I can pull up the exact date and time range.

Alex L.

Yelp
Layla's is, simply put, a great classic honky tonk bar. The elements of such a bar are simple but hard to pull off: classic honky tonk music played by expert bands, an intimate atmosphere that's the opposite of the 6-story tourist traps around it, and some down-home folks who just love to drink and mingle. You'll get it all here. I walked in to listen to the band and ended up sitting at the bar and drinking local beers while admiring the enthusiasm the crowd had for some good music. there were more boots and cowboy hats in here than any other bar on the strip, if that tells you anything. They have an upstairs, too, but the long back bar is all you need to make your own good time. I would easily recommend Layla's to anyone trying out Nashville and looking for a classic experience. It's a honky tonk to remember!

Matt E.

Yelp
Food is delicious, service terrific, and the bands are always really talented and entertaining. Old school country music. One of my all time favorites on Broadway. And Layla really does exist and drops in on occasion. Highly recommend!

Kyle V.

Yelp
Pretty fun bar on the main drag. The bands were good but not the best we saw that night. The bouncers were making people wear masks while in line and walking in, but no one inside has masks on except employees. The drink list offered something for everyone and they have a small menu. We enjoyed sitting along the railing upstairs and looking down at the band.

Lita H.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! As a bar owner myself, I understand the bar life, live music, etc. my husband and I spent our 5 year anniversary in Nashville. We wanted a dive bar. We come across Laylas. The band playing sayid buy us shots for song requests. We bought $56 dollars worth of shots for the band. After TEN plus song choices, we said "just play something you know." The lead singer looked at us and said "you need to get a better attitude." In no way shape or form were we rude, belittling, etc. I suggest not to go here.

Nacci H.

Yelp
We were at Layla's just this month with a large group of my girlfriends for a birthday party celebration. We had been in a number of the bars on Broadway but decided to return to this one as the music was amazing, the smaller bar had a cozy atmosphere and all the staff were great. Bartenders took care of us when we were ordering our drinks quickly and efficiently. Later in the evening there was a group of men that were heavily intoxicated that were trying to chat us up. It happens, but they were definitely ruining our vibe. We were about to leave and two boucers came up to our group and smiled then turned to the men and calmly asked them to finish their drinks and leave. The bouncers stood between us and the men and waited for them, and escorted them out of the bar. It made us feel safe in this particular venue that the bouncers were watching and paying attention to the patrons. After the incident, one of the bouncers came back to our table to ensure we were okay and assured us that those men would not be coming back for the rest of the evening. Our group then stayed and had a wonderful evening dancing, laughing and drinking. The music was great, it was Nick I believe who was playing, and the bouncer that came back to check in on us was Chris. Thank you Laylas we will definitely be back !

Edward M.

Yelp
Very reasonably priced compared to other bars like tootsies or Jason Aldean charging $9 for Coors light. They have beers for $5-6. Music has been solid. I saw two different bands at different times.

Doug K.

Yelp
And asked for song requests. Wife said "Zac Brown". The band said "someone punch her". Not cool. Stay away. Very toxic atmosphere.

Cindy W.

Yelp
This was our first time in Nashville. We decided to start down one side of Broadway Street to experience as many musicians and establishments as we could. We stopped in to Leila's honky-tonk just to see what was happening! I loved how the stage was right near the windows that face the street. We could see that we wanted to go in, as we could see the band and musicians. Once we walked in, there was lots of room. There were people sitting at tables and chairs, with a couple people standing here and there. This facility had an upper floor, which really made the building hold more people and made it seem not as crowded near the stage. There were two bouncers at the front of the door checking our license to make sure that we were over 21 years of age. We did not eat or drink in this establishment, we were just there for the music! The trio of singers and guitar players were really good, and we smiled the whole time!

Lucy T.

Yelp
We hung out here during our Nashville trip. It seemed pretty cool. It was one of the smaller places but no line to get in on a weekend so I'll take that! The pineapple rum is good here and so is the live music!

Deanne B.

Yelp
A honky tonk for sure. Very nice bartender. She's killing it by herself. Clean. Nice bar and clean floor. Very dark. Not the best air conditioner. Good honky tonk music. If you like the music loud this is your place. The vocalist is over miked. I'm not a fan of the limes and lemons uncovered on the bar. The license plates on the ceiling are a fun touch.

Laurie B.

Yelp
Great folks in the only female owned bah on Brodway. Great bartenders great music Best Burgers On Broadway. Come check out the best Honky Tonk in town
