Google
As somebody not from Philly who did the tour of cheesesteak places to get the best one, this is genuinely the best cheesesteak we had. Owners and workers are super nice as well, and their pepperoni pizza slices are huge and can make New York jealous. Definitely recommend!

Google
Must have cheesesteak and pizza place!!! I had the opportunity to try Lazaro’s for the first time today and it was the best halal Philly cheesecake I’ve had in Philadelphia! The options were plentiful but Fouad took the time to explain each one to me and I got the Lazaro cheesesteak which was a fully loaded version. It was Delicious! I also had one of their signature pizzas and it was equally delicious, with layer upon layer of food toppings. A warm ambiance and good people, you can’t go wrong with this place. I strongly recommend it if you’re looking for a good affordable place to eat.

Google
Amazing halal Philly cheese steaks in Philly!! Must try, they also have amazing pizza slices, their staff is the best !! So welcoming. Definitely recommend for a lunch in the city. Family friendly. Shoutout to Fouad !!

Chaimaa Tazi

Google
Lazaro’s Pizzeria is hands down the best place for Philly cheesesteaks and their pizzas are absolutely incredible! I was specifically looking for a halal spot and I’m so glad I found this one — it was perfect! A huge thank you to Fouad for his outstanding hospitality, he made the experience unforgettable. The food was delicious, the service was amazing, and I will definitely be coming back. Thank you again!

Google
Wow this is the biggest pizza I ever gotten the price $5 for each plain slice is a hell of a deal as many other pizza shop will charge $5 or more per slice & theres couple things wrong with the pizza. The taist good not 100% good but I'll put this place down next time I'm in Philadelphia

Peter Carlino

Google
Hands down the worst pizza I have ever eaten. The overly sweet tomato sauce left a lingeringly peppery aftertaste for quite some time. We previously tried a sandwich from this same shop and were happy with that which made the pizza experience all that much more disappointing.

Google
I haven’t been to Lazaro’s probably since the 90’s……Man oh man, it’s still some of THEE BEST pizza in Philly! I took a large plain back to a little house party I was attending in South Philly…..pizza lasted all of 2 minutes before the box was empty. The party goers ordered a pizza from another place around midnight because Lazaro’s was closed. That place did not compete or compare! Go Lazaro’s….Still holding it down 35 years later, I see 🤩

Michael Bowman

Google
Probably some of the best pizza in the city. Great sauce, lots of toppings, and the crust it top notch. I've only gotten take out but the staff has been friendly too.

Yelp
A go-to and staple of weekend pizza orders. Lazaro's is one of the best pizza places in Philly. Their pies have it all, a great blend of cheese, sweet sauce, fresh crust, and tasty toppings. Plus, their boneless wings are addictive and delicious. Definitely go and discover how great Lazaro's on south is.

Yelp
Lazaros has the BEST pizza steak in the city! Salads are also huge! Always friendly staff, and they deliver without the apps! Cash only!

Yelp
The pizza here is HUGE, hot and tasty. Definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. I could only eat ONE slice lol look at the size of this thing. The staff was pleasant. Ohhhhh, they ONLY take CASH. They do have an ATM machine just in case you need it but make sure to have CASH. Great place over all. Good job guys

Yelp
Lazaro's has let us and our friends down in a big way. I'm genuinely sad that, out of principle, I cannot return or provide business or send friends. It takes a whole lot for me to give out one star, as I think most businesses can have tough days and I take pride in being considerate of that with reviews online. When we learned that the Eagles would be going to the Super Bowl (can I write that on here, am I supposed to say The Big Game), we decided we'd host our friends for a watch party and to avoid the high entry price at most of our favorite bar spots. Since I know what a mess it can be trying to get food ordered the day of a big event like this, I decided to place all of my food orders in advance. The Tuesday before the game, I placed my online order for 5 pizzas. I was charged immediately upon the order being accepted. I think it's really important to note that you can submit an order, but it is not immediately accepted. I believe this means the restaurant has the option to decline or refuse an order, you know, in the situation that they become overwhelmed with too many orders to fulfill on a crazy day in the city. Too bad that didn't happen here... My order was accepted, I was charged for the food in advance and was raving to my friends about how we would have my favorite local pizza for the party. Since I wanted to be completely sure that this was going to work out and that I did not need to make other arrangements, I went into Lazaro's on Friday at 5 PM. I let them know I had placed an online order earlier in the week for pick up on Sunday at 5:30 PM. They told me if the order had already been placed, I was all set! Great, this left me feeling confident. Well now it's Sunday and I send my boyfriend and his brothers to go pick up the pizzas. They get there at about 5:15, because every time we've ordered Lazaro's online it has been finished earlier than expected. I was on the phone with them throughout the process and learned what an absolute mess it was at Lazaro's at this point. They had initially called me because the person at the counter told them they had no order for us. I provided them with the order number, full details, and all other identifying information so the order could be found. Clearly, they had not yet started our order. My boyfriend asked how long it would be. He was told that they don't know. Strange response. He asked if they could call us once the order was actually ready for pick up, they said no. So my boyfriend and his brothers waited. They had some time to spare... well 30 minutes later there's no movement or update. My boyfriend asks again, how long? They ask him what exactly he is waiting for (this is the second time they are being reminded of our order). He asks if there is any alternative, we live three blocks away and the game is about to start in 20 minutes, maybe could someone drop it off and we pay for delivery? No, they're not accepting any new orders. Well... this wouldn't be a new order, but okay. They tell him give us 20 minutes, the order just went in the oven. The 20 minutes come and go, my boyfriend sends his brothers back to our house so they don't miss the game. He stands around and watches as people walk in, order slices, and are served and on their way immediately. While our prepaid preorder has now taken over 1 hour since he arrived. Even with all the fanfare and activities that push kick off out a little later than the intended start time, my boyfriend is stuck inside of Lazaro's where they are honestly being d*cks to him about their clear catastrophe screw up in accepting way more orders than they could handle on game day. Many times he tried to ask for a refund and cancel the order. They told him they would not be giving out any refunds. I really viewed Lazaro's as a nice family business, my boyfriend's office is a few blocks away and he often gets lunch there. Anytime we order pizza (which is pretty often...) it's from Lazaro's. But they showed us that they are greedy and cruel, with no willingness to own up to their mistakes. By 6:45, 1.5 hour after his arrival, and over an hour after the order was supposed to be ready for pick up, the food was finally done. Undercooked and made incorrectly, but at this point what's the use in picking that battle? They weren't giving refunds and clearly needed the space in the oven. Goodbye Lazaro's, it was nice while it lasted.

Yelp
First stop on my Lorenzo's/Lorenzo & Sons/Lazaro's pizza crawl. Slices are inexpensive and HUGE. My husband used to work nearby and remembered liking their pizza a lot. He recalled learning that the secret to their sauce was a bit of grape jelly. I don't know if that is/was true, but their sauce was definitely sweeter than other slices. I don't prefer sweet tomato sauce. But this was a completely acceptable slice. Decent cheese. Thin, crispy crust. I don't know if I'd go out of my way for this--I'd pass multiple decent slices on my way here. But if I lived nearby it would be a reliable place to scratch the itch for a quick slice.

Yelp
Lazaro's continues to be our favorite neighborhood pizza, cheesesteak, and meatball parmigiana sub joint! P.S. Be sure to get an order of onion rings and/or curly fries!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is very good. We had the Chicken parm sandwich and boneless chicken wings. Fast service
google avatar

Carmen J.

Yelp
I always try to leave positive reviews based on the service and everything but we paid $26 for a buffalo chicken pizza and it barely have chicken and it was very thin, no worth the price, the flavor was a little different for the other places. Definitively not coming back sorry.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of living near Lazaro's for over a decade and it was always our go-to place. We typically ordered from there at least once a week (but if it was up to my kids, it would have been daily). The food and services is always top-notch. Our order usually includes pizza, chicken cheese steaks, mac and cheese, and chicken fingers. We have, however, tried so many other items on the menu and everything tastes good and fresh. I have had so many great meals and memories at Lazaro's over the years, but I will highlight a couple: Food: In 2021, my family had a blind pizza tasting and we had pizza from Philadelphia, Cherry Hill, Conshohocken and Elkins Park and Lazaro's easily won. Service: One NYE, we placed an order late and they stayed past closing to make sure that we were able to enjoy their food to ring in the New Year. Also, on a very hot day, one of the owners gave my kids free water ice (and they still talk about it all of the time). I am no longer a neighbor, but I will always be a customer (still typically once a week).

Yelp
I've written a review for Lazaro's before, focusing on their Stromboli. I just wanted to write a review for the superb pizza I got there last night. I got an 18 inch Combination Pizza without pepperoni. It was sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. It was perfect. The toppings were fresh and delicious, and the crust was perfect- thin and crispy but not burnt. Not much more to add other than you'll get a better pizza here than a lot of the overpriced hipster places I see promoted here by the yelp Elite crowd- many of whom I suspect monetize their reviews (in other words, they may be shills).

Yelp
All you need is one slice of pizza for an inexpensive delicious and filling lunch. It's so many pizzas to choose, the mushroom is my favorite

Renee J.

Yelp
I ordered a white pizza takeout a few days ago. It was awful. Almost cold. Crust was rubbery and dark brown. It was hard to chew. Very little cheese on top. A waste of $31. If this is their example of a good pizza then someone is not minding the shop! Unless I get a refund, I'm not going back. Renee Jones Center City

Yelp
The guys working were amazing and funny...the pizza was huge and good. I got the meat heavy pizza and it was a full meal in itself. I would come again if I am ever in Philly. FYI, order through one door and sit in the dining room next door.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered lunch her today and frankly wished I had not! I will say this it was a bad that I came to a real Italian restaurant for dinner just so I could remember what I had for lunch was cooked by amateurs. Also very over priced. 10"pizza,, meatballs, and a soda. 47.00. Shame on them for charging that price then serving dog food out of a can!
google avatar

Sunny T.

Yelp
I was walking around hoping I would find a pizza shop and I bumped into Lazaros! I'm so glad I did. They have delicious, giant slices of pizza - exactly what the perfect pizza slice should be. Above all the the staff here are so kind, warm, and welcoming that you absolutely could not compare. They treat you like family. 10/10 would recommend!

Enzo S.

Yelp
Pizza is solid, I would probably say the spot is small but good service from the restaurant!
google avatar

Victor L.

Yelp
The cheesesteak egg-rolls give a traditional cheesesteak a run for its money. The dipping sauce that comes with it is excellent.

Yelp
pizzas by the slice look pretty slammin.. this little hole in the wall (two holes actually, the small seating area is next door).. was busy busy. I hope that means the food was bussin bussin. well... I'm not quite sure. I went here because I was on South Street. and where else to get an authentic philly cheesesteak than in right in the city? Parking was a pain but that's to be expected.... The authentic philly cheesesteak is described as fully loaded, grease soaked bag, and insides of sandwich oozing out of soft world famous Amorosa Rolls... this ain't it. This is decent, better than Subway VERY neat and clean steak on a decently sized Amorosa roll. no grease stained paper bags. no cheese moving like molten lava... I know the sandwich had peppers and onions on it... I could see it.. but the smells and flavors that usually accompany grilled onions, and peppers weren't there. for $12.50 and high hyped up cultural icon hopes... I was sadly disappointed. it wasnt bad.. just not what I had hoped for. 4 Stars because it was decent and on par with most outside or shall we say foreign steak sandwiches I've had in other cities. but far from the legend of the philly cheesesteak we outsiders have only heard of in media and stories from native philadelphians..

Yelp
Very impressive slices. I went with two slices and when the cashier rang me up and it came to almost $10 dollars I was a little curious how it cost so much well right as I opened the box on the walk back I knew why...these slices are MASSIVE! It took some work but I managed to finish one slice and only had a few bites from the second slice. I deducted one star for not being able to fold the pizza which made it beyond difficult trying to eat on the way home. I was leaning against post office boxes, random steps to peoples apartment, against some walls while trying to hold the box and slam a bite down of the pizza. New experience for me. I suggest you eat the pizza there. The stuffed pizza which has a lattice pie like crust looks spectacular, along with there sicilian. I am going to take a few weeks off so is the goal but I would definitely return for one of those slices. CASH only but its quick service and they have an ATM inside.

Yelp
Great service and food. Always a pleasure to introduce new people to this gem. Give it a try!,,
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking to fill up without spending a lot of cash, the Lazaro's slice is huge and cost about the same as a slice anywhere else. It's really good too. It's so big you can't take it walking, which is kind of a drawback, but one you can live with if you're hungry. Their cheesesteak is ok. Not great, not bad.

Yelp
For reference, I'm in arguably THE best neighborhood for pizza/Italian and I STILL order my weekly delivery from Lazaro's. If the shoe fits... Pizza's still large and has that sweet sauce I love. Honey BBQ wings are some of the best in the city and I think have even gotten better over the years. I anticipate my weekend order of wings every Monday through Friday. I order directly from their website now instead of UberEATS to avoid extra fees and the food legit arrives hot and fresh to my door in less than a half hour, every single time. Supporting restaurants that hire their own delivery drivers is important, especially now. ILYSM, Lazaro's.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Love this place. A slice of pizza is around $4-$5 but it's about the size of 2 regular slices...definitely worth it and it's so damn filling! Pizza heaven. Its cash only but they have some large pies that are well worth the money. If you love pizza you should definitely try it and if you've eaten here you would know that its definitely worth it...its still my go to quick grab for pizza after a few drinks and even without a few drinks.

M B.

Yelp
Always great! If you prefer sweet sauce rather than tangy, this is your place! Food is always good and nothing is ever missing from my order.
google avatar

Gloria E.

Yelp
Pretty good pizza in a cash only shop on South St. Super cheesy. Tried the white and cheese pizzas and both crowd pleasers. Would love to try the cauliflower crust pizza soon as well!
google avatar

Gladstone P.

Yelp
Solid delivery and tasty honest pie! Made to order accurately (we have a fussy light sauce eater) and great choice for the kind kid ny style slice with no fuss.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Service is horrible number 1. I ordered at Lazaro's for the first time because they were highly recommend! I ordered two cheese steaks today and I asked for sweet and hot peppers along with onions etc. The guy who took my told me my total and I calculated in my head and I looked the menu and no where on the menu does it say I costs extra for sweet and hot peppers! He says: "You know what it is"! Huh... excuse me Sir but I do not speak street slang. I should have left and went else where but I needed to get my mom something to eat and I didn't feel like looking around for another pizza shop for a cheese steak. Folks save your money and appetite for somewhere where they will respect you and your money. I told the guy "I am spending my money, so I want to know what I paying for"!!! Total jerk

Craig S.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious and the guy who took my order was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Highly recommend

Susan K.

Yelp
The food is always so delicious. Their deliveries arrive super fast and are always hot and fresh. Pizza is incredible and so is everything else I've tried.
google avatar

Kyle B.

Yelp
The delivery driver gave us the wrong pizza at first. Ok, no big deal...I chased his car to the corner and exchanged it for the right one. Sorry to the next guy for poking around in your pizza. The pizza itself was greasy as hell and overall pretty basic. I would not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Folks, the only reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five, is I've been giving out WAY too many lately. If you're looking for KETO friendly pizza, you couldn't possibly do any better than this. Cauliflower is a disgusting vegetable and it's a miracle anyone ate it in the first place. Yet, ground to flour, hidden under a tasty sauce, cheese, several types of cured, spiced meat, it can pass as a very substandard REAL pizza crust. I could survive off this stuff during my KETO diet. The Cold Cut Salad, purchased as insurance against inedible cauliflower pizza, was photogenic in it's presentation and I anxiously anticipate devouring it tomorrow! Heavy on meat, cheese and cucumber, light on the iceberg lettuce. The rest of the family enjoyed their pie although my son found it odd that they'd apparently used pickled jalapenos for the poppers. Highly recommend! Lazaro's, thanks for preforming a service to the KETO-survivor Community!!!

Kay H.

Yelp
Good sweet sauce pizza at a great price. I also like that you can order online ahead of time and they have prompt delivery. I had ordered several pizzas for a small gathering and everything came as ordered and on time.
google avatar

Maria J.

Yelp
I love this place! My favorite is their buffalo chicken and basil and tomato pizza. The meat supreme is pretty good too. They only take cash and are open quite late. The slices are huge (1 slice is two meals for me) and they always serve them warm. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Shelly G.

Yelp
If you are looking for some good thin crust new york style pizza -- this is the place to go!! The slices are huge. The crust is perfectly crispy. The sauce is perfectly flavored. The toppings are graciously put on there. I have literally no complaints about this pizza!! So glad we found this hidden gem and its going to be our new go to! We've only tried the veggie pizza and the buffalo chicken and both are amazing!! Cant wait to try other things on the menu but definitely our new go to for pizza!
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
So I'll just start by saying I got this delivered so I can't comment on the quality and decor of the store. It's Sunday night, and I'm kicking it at home. I'm talking to Geeg on the Portal, and as usual, she's just making fun of me. Getting made fun of gives me the munchies so I decided to start looking for a pizza joint. In Philly, that means a ton of places. I looked on Yelp, and this was one of the first things that popped up. I got a large (18") meat lovers. It showed up quickly and steaming hot. It appears hand tossed. The crust was light with a light crispiness to it...not heavy at all. The pizza itself was very thin crusted. A fantastic amount of cheese. Didn't skimp on toppings. I'd recommend.

Yelp
Lazaro's Pizza is my spot. I've been eating here for years. Forget that other place at 2nd & South that serves cheese-covered cardboard. Lazaro's is the real deal. Really good pizza. I recently tried their square pie and was really surprised. The dough was just right and I dig their sauce. The one thing I dislike is the early hours. If you want a late-night slice from Lazaro's you're gonna be out of luck. Aside from that, great spot .
google avatar

Scott T.

Yelp
They have the best tasting pizza, but it's nearly impossible sometimes to "catch them when they're open." Three separate times i tried to order from here and their cell phone ( which is the line they use to receive orders) is set so you get a "busy signal", - at 8:45pm when their website says they're open till 10pm ! ( I hate that crap- you'd think the least they can do is borrow someone's iphone and update it on the maps program.) Last time before we banned them was because we started ordering on their website at 8:30pm, and by the time we were ready to pay, a message pops up: ONLINE ORDERING NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. Waste of time for a business who doesn't seem to want any business.

Abdelhalim A.

Yelp
My favorite pizza place ever good cheese steak varieties of pizza slices Very good service keep up.I always receive my order on time . Very generous people and very clean place. Huge slices. I love it guys keep up the good work .All my support for your guys. Thank you.

Yelp
Calzones are as big as your head....and delicious! The sauce on the pizza tasted a little acid but the crust and mozzarella were really good!
google avatar

Talina G.

Yelp
Caesar salad was fresh however I must say I was a little disappointed to see they use powder Parmesan cheese instead of real shredded cheese. $10 for lettuce & cucumbers... I added onions & removed the tomatoes- no protein was added. My husband on the other hand LOVES the Greek salad (they add carrots - not really my twist).
google avatar

Maryanne F.

Yelp
Perfectly satisfying pizza by the slice. No frills kind of place. The workers are nice and to the point, but some were not wearing masks appropriately.
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
I was very happy to find Lazaro's. Great cheesesteak for $9.75. it wasn't hard to find street parking and they had seating next door. The pizza looked amazing! Great extra's; cheese, fried onions, mushrooms, lettuce and tomatoes. Cash only
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Ordered large cheese pie. Thin, floppy crust. Sauce didn't have much flavor. Greasy cheese. Cash only and not the cheapest place. Overall, fairly average. I wouldn't recommend.

Sanai L.

Yelp
i love this place, order from them at twice a week lol. i recommend the chicken tenders and cheestake hoagies!!

Richard R.

Yelp
Great pizza. Fast delivery. I ordered a pepperoni sausage and mushroom. It was very good. Sauce is great.
google avatar

Roseline A.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! This may be the best pizza I've ever had to be honest. It was hugeee and the crust had such a nice crunch to it! Our food was done relatively quick and parking was easy to find.

Yelp
When in Philadelphia, eat a cheesesteak! We had lunch at the U.S. Capitol after a tour from our U.S. Senator's office, so we were not extremely hungry that night after arrival in Philadelphia. Lazaro's was not far from our Airbnb pad, so we decided to stop in for a cheesesteak after a walk downtown. Good choice. You order from one storefront and either take-home or eat-in inside the room nextdoor. We ate-in. We ordered a whole (2 foot) Cheesesteak Deluxe ($15.00) to share, coming on a fresh baguette with chopped beef, American cheese and sauteed peppers, onions, and mushrooms as well as an order of Curly Fries ($3.75). The cheesesteak was not a disappointment and the fries were hot and crisp, not burnt. Bravo! Far from healthy, but who gives damn ... we're on vacation, weighing in at 2 lbs and only a little over $20, this meal delivered some serious bang for the buck or belch for the double sawbuck, depending on how you look at it. CombatCritic Gives Lazaro's Pizzeria and Grill 7 Bombs Out Of 10 ... More bombs Are Better!

Coco L.

Yelp
Not a fancy pizza place at all - it's not Angelo's or pitruco BUT it's delicious. The crust is very thin with lots of flavor, the sauce is tasty, and ultimately, the pizza is super satisfying and yummy. For me the best part is the ultra thin crust. If you're looking for an affordable, classic old school pizza spot, this is it.
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
The best pizza in center city! All their food is incredible and they're always so quick!
google avatar

Angie E.

Yelp
We ordered in delivery and figured an XL would be enough for two adults and two teen boys. We were wrong - it was enough for two plus meals! We couldn't even finish a slice! Generous pizza for $30, delivery only takes cash so be prepared. Great pizza, amazing value!
