Google
Lazos has been my family and I’s first stop before walking over to the ballpark to see the Rockies. They have, without failure, been the best empanadas I’ve ever had. All of them are SO good, but the steak quesadillas are INCREDIBLE. The sweet empanadas are to die for. The staff are so friendly, they always recognize us. I highly recommend coming in to try them out!!

Google
Honestly, one of the most humble places I’ve been in a minute. Simple, delicious, perfect afternoon snack joint. I ordered spicy steak and a spicy chicken, satisfying and leaves me feeling healthy. The red sauce was ok, but the green salsa was soooo good. I’m excited to try the chimichurri sauce next time.

Google
This was one of 5 stops on a Denver food tour and it was delicious. Never would I have thought I’d eat an empanada with raisins but it added a sweetness that definitely had me wanting more. There was ample seating and complimentary water. Love that they posted the recipes on the wall as art so you knew exactly what you were getting.

Google
Good empanadas, tasted fresh. I’ve been Argentina 🇦🇷 and ate empanadas there and these are pretty similar. 4.5/5 Got one of each 1-8. My favorite was the steak. The rest were alright. My least favorite were the beef the barbecue chicken. There wasn’t much of a difference between the normal beef and the spicy beef, and they each had kind of a sweet flavor.

I don't know how many times I've driven past this place before i finally made a stop for a quick dinner tonight. Wondering why I hadn't...Really great tasting empanadas, great variety, and the prices are not too crazy, given its proximity to Coors Field. You can choose from a dozen savory fillings ("Savory"), a handful of sweet (chocolate, caramel, etc.) fillings, or other items like salads. Indoor seating and some seats outside on the street. Parking is on the street (watch for traffic, it's Park Avenue) with parking meters. Overall, a nice place to grab a quick bite.

Google
Found myself here by complete accident as my kid was getting a haircut next door and I was hungry. Wow, this was an excellent find. Incredible flavor, light crispy crust, and the chimichurri sauce was fantastic. Will need to find an excuse to come back.

Google
Today, and every time I've visited Lazo Empanadas, it's been a wonderful experience! I have food sensitivities and these three lovely ladies (Cinthia, Dania, and Rosa) went out of their way to make sure I had a safe and pleasant meal without complications. They went above and beyond by allowing me to view ingredient labels. Today, I had the Arugula/Parmesan/Mushroom salad and I've also had their gluten free (GF) empanadas. Their food is delicious. I've appreciated their help so much! Their service and cuisine has been top notch every time.

Google
Delicious empanadas, we came here on a food tour and it was definitely one of the stars of the tour, got to try the ground beef but doubled back after the tour to order caprese, and spicy chicken & steak. Detoxifies all around and great location near Coors field! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is amazing. Best empanadas of my life. Golden, flaky, crunchy but soft at the same time, plus the flavors are incredible. Typing this review is seriously making want to go back up there for round 2. Lazo for life. Pro tip: Their chimichurri is fire too

Yelp
It was the second of our five stops as part of our Downtown Denver Food Tour, and it was amazing. The Empanadas were flaky, flavorful, and so delicious. The chimichurri sauce added so much to the taste. This Argentinian Empanadas restaurant was started by two brothers who didn't see their homeland empanadas in Denver so started their own just when Covid hit and survived, a testament to how good they are. The place is not very big with less than a dozen tables, but it seems the bulk of their business is to-go anyway.

Yelp
Fiiiiii!!! Yer!!! Second stop on our Delicious Denver Food Tour. The flavors of spice, beef, and raisins are unmatched. Great ambiance, felt authentic and pure

Yelp
Such a quaint place with delicious flavors. Stopped in for a late night bite. I wanted to try the spicy beef but the raisins in it made me reconsider. I decided on the spicy chicken and the chimichurri sauce. The sauce is fresh and has a nice kick. The empanadas were so delicious with a flaky crust. If I could I'd get more to take back on the plane.

Yelp
Despite its small size, this eatery boasts an impressive array of 12 empanada flavors, masterfully blending sweet and savory elements The menu, though limited, is quite varied with unique combinations. Their made-to-order empanadas necessitated a brief wait, but it was definitely worth it. Three expertly crafted sauces complement the offerings: Chimichurri, Red Hot Sauce, and a mild Green Sauce. The green sauce being my favorite. They offer take out, the value for your buck is either the appetizer or regular sizes of packs of 10 or 20 which you can mix and match. Pair your empanadas with a refreshing salad and indulge in a sweet dessert. I recommend the flan. Beverage options encompass Malbec and Chardonnay wines, draft beer, and soft drinks. To optimize efficiency, online ordering is recommended, unless a wait is feasible.

Yelp
The food was fresh and delicious. You can pick different kinds of empanadas depending on your preference. Service was fast when I ordered a pick up. I will have to defer my review of the ambiance when we come back to dine in.

Yelp
We were in town recently for 4 days and loved this place; we ended up going twice. They were open 10am to 9pm most days. It was nice that they served beer. We were able to get a couple empanadas each with a beer. The service was friendly and quick. The place was clean and well kept. We loved the chicken caprese and the ham and cheese. We didn't try any others. We were sad we couldn't get these delivered to Michigan! Highly recommend you stop in if you are in Denver.

Yelp
I came here on a weekend during lunch hours when it was empty. I am a huge fan of empanadas and was excited to try some local flavor. I was a bit disappointed how burnt it was on the outside. While I see from others photos it is supposed to be quite baked, some of the empanadas were nearly completely black all around. The size of the empanadas are also quite small. I think the flaky outside contrasts well with a very moist inside. I decided to forgo sauce and I think that was a fine choice as it was already quite messy. The employee recommended the most popular beef. If there was a chicken option or chorizo only option (without the egg and what not) I would go with those. I think I preferred the chorizo one. For the price relative to the size and how filling it was, I think it could be cheaper. It's a bit pricey for a snack. They also gave me a huge bag with no handles and big box that was partially opened for just to small empanadas which was not a very convenient way to port them around. I suppose if you were around after a game and were looking for a unique bite and willing to put some money toward the flavor, it could be worth a shot. I probably won't be returning though.

Yelp
Found this little treat while sitting in another restaurant eating dinner. We decided to go there for dessert. The menu looks enticing. We ended up getting the chocolate filled empanadas. Next time, we will get a full dinner. It smelled so delicious inside. The staff were helpful and friendly. They have a good take out business. Parking is on the street or in a garage. They have good hour and reasonable prices. Handicap friendly.
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
I'm not a huge empanada eater but these definitely changed my mind. The crust is slightly flaky and reminds me of a cross between filo dough and pie crust. They serve it so that it's piping hot and crispy. I got one steak and one chicken and both were so flavorful and had a juicy filling. I am surprised at how tender the meat is in their fillings. I would 100% come back for a quick snack on the go.
google avatar

Yelp
Great empanadas, and great service. The variety was really nice and if you love chimichurri this one is unique and very well done.

Yelp
My first time here and I've wanted to try them for a while. My first experience was with the person behind the counter. "Do you have specials or is it just by piece?" Her reply: "By piece or we sell them in groups of 10." As I'm placing my order I see that they in-fact do have specials; in this case they are listed as promos. Was a bit irritated but I got over it - just a speed bump. What made me go was the price of a can of coke. Thank goodness it was included in my PROMO. A 12oz can costs $5 (you didn't read that wrong)!! Now the almost 17oz bottle of Coke costs $4. More product for less money ... absolutely doesn't make sense. Their handout menu has a can at $3.00 (that is still high but makes sense). The food ... I ordered the Steak Quesadilla and a Spicy Chicken. You can't tell which is which so we dove right in. I got the queso first it seems. Squirted cheese all over the place. Think of like a thinner nacho cheese sauce and NOT queso in say a quesadilla traditionally. Another speed bump. It was good but messy. The Spicy Chicken was good. Overall the shell was perfect!! I'd come back and try some of the others (Chorizo, Cheese & Egg and the Spinach & Cheese look great. The Nutella and Banana also looks great. Take your time w the menu and don't order a can of soda a la carte.
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Amazing empanadas and love the pastafrola or Nutella and banana when I feel like splurging a little for something sweet! Great service and fast turn around when I stop in for a couple real quick on the go.

Yelp
ALERT! When in Denver, find a Lazo Empanadas and get ready to be amazed! Pleasant staff who helped us decide on which empanadas to choose. This visit we tried the #1 ground beef 4/5, #2 spicy ground beef 5/5, #7 spicy chicken 5/5 and the #5 steak quesadilla 5/5. Good special on the buy 3 empanada 1 salsa and 1 soda for $16. Tip: Order the hot sauce for that added kick to your empanada experience. Would definitely come back for more delicious empanadas!

Yelp
Walking around the ball park area and wanted a small bite to eat and stumbled upon Lazo Empanadas. Glad we did! We were the only ones in there when we arrived, the gentleman behind the counter took our order and recommended some of their sauces to go with. We ended up getting one spicy steak, one spicy chicken, and one spicy beef. They were all fresh and piping hot. Great flavors and crunch! We got the green and red sauce and both went well with the empanada flavors! I like how small and fresh it is. Inside was very tidy and homey.

Yelp
Located on 22nd St & Larimer St. I'm not sure what the parking situation is since we were introduced to this place while on a food tour. This Argentinian lil' spot has the best beef Empanadas I've ever had! Perfectly flaked. I tried their Beef Empanada with a glass of red wine. With my empanada, I had their 'Chimichurri' sauce which consists of oregano, vinegar, olive oil, and possibly other ingredients. I had never tried this type of sauce, and I'm so glad I did because I'm obsessed. They also serve coffee, dessert, beer, wine, salads & more. Lazo's is the perfect spot for that light, small quick bite, and very satisfying. Overall, we had a great experience at this location.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Delicious food at a reasonable price - came here on a food tour and came back to get some empanadas to take home. The chimi sauce is yummy!
google avatar

Camille H.

Yelp
Very quick service. The empanadas are already made so they just heat them up. The insides were a bit liquidy but tasted great! The real winner is the crust. It's thin but sturdy and so flaky and delicious. I got the BBQ chicken, chicken caprese, and spinach and cheese. My favorite was the BBQ but they were all good. I tried the chimichurri and avocado sauces. Neither were very good. The empanadas really didn't need extra flavor either so I would definitely skip the sauce next time. I also got a dessert empanada: milk caramel, cream cheese, and peach. I wouldn't get that again. It was really liquid and covered in powdered sugar and I wasn't a fan.
google avatar

Yelp
So good! Try the spicy beef ! Parking was hard to find, the music inside a good vibe. Very friendly.
google avatar

Charley B.

Yelp
Keep your eyes peeled. This is a cozy spot and if you're not looking you might walk past it. It's a great concept: Order empanadas. Eat empanadas. Wash it all down with a delicious beverage. (Adult options are available.) The menu is easy to browse. There are empanadas, sweet empanadas, sauce options, desserts, soda and beer. Promo dinners (2 empanadas + drink, etc...) are an option, if you're interested.
google avatar

Paul G.

Yelp
Very good empanadas, just know that if you're used to Colombian empanadas these are quite different. They are more flaky and less crunchy/deep fried tasting than the Colombian ones. A nice change. The sauces were good and service was friendly.

Yelp
I have been a long time local summit county for almost 20 years. My family of four and I consisting of two adults and two athletic teenagers decided to try this company out for the first time. We ordered 70 plus dollars worth of empanadas and desserts with sauces alike. We received our order, and the empanadas that we received were quite literally as pictured below, the size of my 5 ft 1 in bodies, tiny hands.. between my forefinger and thumb.... Mind you this was supposed to have fun essentially, for adults and as stated online two empanadas per person is supposed to be average for an adult person on their website. I am 5'1. I weigh 147 pounds, and not even two of these would be close to a sufficient amount of food for one person let alone an adult or growing teenager. I called as well as tried to reach out to uber, who we got delivery from, and the owner was nothing short of rude, nasty and hateful to me. He would not let me speak or explain, he literally said if you don't like our empanadas then stop eating them right now and don't ever eat them again and we don't want your service anyways. He kept making nasty remarks to me although we were being very polite as we were just trying to see what could be done to feed our family as we just paid an upwards again, of $70 to do so and yet we can barely feed maybe almost one..... This is including the dessert that was ordered. To fulfill and sustain an adult human for supper. I'm extremely disappointed, and quite flabbergasted that an owner is such a specially supposed to be an authentic and local owner would speak to anyone this way addressing a concern about the quality of their products. Not only that, each and every feeling of these tiny empanadas, was almost jellied and seem to be pre-cooked or canned or something was just not right. Every single flavor was more than sour and I am more than familiar with empanadas as I have grown up with them in my life in my own culture. It almost tasted like sour sloppy joes in every single one. I would never ever ever consider going back there again. Accepting any of their refunds or any money from them and I highly recommend that you don't do so as well. I hate really really hate to be the bearer of bad news but being the human being that I am, honesty is always the best policy especially in customer service and especially in food quality issues. Good luck to each and everyone of you.

Rob S.

Yelp
Love em! Yep, and Hanna are outstanding and so is the chimichurri sauce that goes with it. Very unassuming place, but these empanadas are awesome.
google avatar

Drew H.

Yelp
I was staying at the Sheraton on business and couldn't wait to try this place around the corner. I have been used to homemade empanadas for decades, so I wanted to try this place and compare. It DID NOT disappoint. It seems a little pricey at first, but the size of the empanadas makes it totally worth it. I was pretty hungry (lunchtime, haven't eaten yet that day) and their meal of 3 and a drink was a perfect size. I had the steak, spicy steak, and the chicken. The meat combined with everything else they stuff in that light flakey crust hit the spot. I can't wait to try the other flavors. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
The empanadas were good, very tasty and done perfectly. The service was ok, pretty busy for lunch but not bad. The ambiance is friendly. They don't have pepsi. But they have wine and beer. Only coke products.
google avatar

Cesar H.

Yelp
I have tried their empanadas several times and I do not have many complaints about them. They are fast, the fillings are always on point, and the crust is delicious. I wish it was a little flakier but it's still a solid empanada. I do not feel the same about their sweet empanadas and other desserts as I've always feel they are not the best. The ham and cheese empanada is the unsung hero of their place! Service is always very pleasant and so is the ambiance
google avatar

Cinthia K.

Yelp
Came here for some empanadas to go while in Denver earlier this year. I was intrigued because this place specialized in Argentine style empanadas, which I'm quite fond of, having been born in Argentina and having grown up with those types of empanadas. They have a decent sized menu, and I opted for one of their fresh mushrooms, one of their dulce de leche & chocolate, and one of their ground beef empanadas for the SO. I also asked for some chimichurri on the side. The dessert empanada was pretty good, as was their mushroom empanada. The SO thought their beef empanada was fine. The chimichurri was fine, albeit a bit on the oily side, and if anything, I just wished their food packaging was a bit more secure as I ended up getting powdered sugar from the dessert empanada everywhere. Still, not a bad place to get Argentine style empanadas in Denver.
google avatar

Adam L.

Yelp
Empanadas were excellent. Quick service for both my wife and I who ordered beers and 2 different Empanadas. Dipping sauce was awesome!

Ciera S.

Yelp
Visited the location in the Junction Food Hall. Very tasty, good selection, friendly service!
google avatar

Miguel V.

Yelp
This was amazing. The food is very delicious and worth the price. Not only was service speedy for the amount of people they have working, they are always positive and patient, especially when you're new there. I got the Ham and Cheese and Cheese, Egg, and Corizo Empanadas and they were full of flavor! Don't forgot to pick up some hot salsa or chimichurri! I am coming back for more!
google avatar

Joanne S.

Yelp
Food: 49/50 Service: 25/25 Ambience: 25/25 Total: 99/100 Absolutely delicious empanadas. I subtracted one point on food because they are not hand braid the empanadas, but rather the empanadas are clamped with a machine that has the different braids to differentiate flavors. I ordered the spicy steak, steak and spicy chicken. UUUFFFF. Sooooo yummy. The spicy chicken was well seasoned & the spice was good not too spicy. If you're wondering, "do I order that?" The answer is Yes. It was my favorite. Definitely will be back for some more Juicy flaky thin crust empanadas!!! PS. The alfajores in the window looked sooo soft and crumbly... but I got the flan with dulce de leche instead. NO REGRETS. GET IT!

Prem S.

Yelp
Lazo's empanadas will convert non empanada lovers into ambassadors of this simple and exquisite bite. The fillings are refined; the steak quesadilla filling made me go back for seconds of more and the same. The fillings are inside a thin crusty super tasty wrap. The majority of empanadas I have eaten had a soft doughy exterior and were considerably thicker. This empanada is more refined and will make you come back to try all the varieties baked!
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Empanadas had a good assortment to them. A little on the smaller side and a lot juicier than anticipated (came out scorching hot which is good that it was fresh but it stung a little!). Service wasn't terrible, just no frills and not really too talkative other than getting our orders which isn't bad. No frills shop, just empanadas.
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
Our second stop on the Delicious Denver food tour. We had an excellent beef empanadas with a Malbec. The empanada was so good we stopped by after the tour to bring some home for dinner!

Rich R.

Yelp
Was on my way to that famous Denver bagel shop, saw Lazo and made a quick pullover. Great decision!! Comfy spot. Service was quick. Empanadas, spicy beef & chicken were awesome!! Get the red hot sauce!! Go here!
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
This was a decent place to grab a bite, I would definitely suggest it for lunch. I came in later in the night, so I was the only one there. The service was not bad, I quickly got my order. The vibe of the place was decent. I didn't feel rushed or unwelcome. The food was delivered hot. This is my first time tasting Argentinian empanadas, the flakiness of the empanada made for a great texture. Now the taste I was prepared to have this explosion of Latin flavor but this was the opposite. It was subtle, good tasting. But different. Being from the south I surely judge you by your Bbq and that's what I had. The bbq chicken empanada and the Spinach and cheese. While the host offered sauce, I declined. The Bbq chicken was different, I'm used to the strong sweet tang of southern bbq sauce, but again this was subtle. This played with my emotions. It was calming. What? Yes. It was personal. It didn't force me to call on all of my taste buds. Just to experience this now, this moment, this flavor. Definitely a mindful bite. The sweet empanada closed out this experience perfectly. Would I go back? Yes. 3 stars I feel like the size of the empanada and the cost doesn't pair well and the reason I said I'd recommend it for a lunch bite.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Love lazo! I live nearby and have tried almost all of the empanadas on the menu. The spicy beef is by far the best but you really can't go wrong. Gotta get the chimichuri sauce too!
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
They were soooo good! The chimichiri was delish! A great tea selection to pick from. Cute, clean and friendly
google avatar

Valérie H.

Yelp
Delicious little empanada shop. I had the (In order of preference): Ground Beef, Steak and Cheese, Spicy Ground Beef, and Spinach and Cheese. The breading was crispy and all the cheese was melted inside to a creamy finish. Was a little sad to hear they don't make the empanadas fresh, but are rather frozen. But at least you can buy them frozen to cook at home! Definitely recommend the chimichurri sauce and red sauce for a little added spice. I wish the menu had a meal bundle price, but $3.99 each isn't bad either. Would definitely come back, or buy some frozen ones to take home !
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
I could kick myself! We stopped in here as part of the "Delicious Denver" walking tour (HIGHLY recommended, by the way...) and sampled the steak empañadas. They were absolutely terrific, and the accompanying chimichurri sauce was a flavor explosion! Paired with the house's Malbec, I was bowled over with the experience. The reason I could have kicked myself is that I made a mental note to stop by on the way home because they have frozen-to-go 10- and 20-packs. I planned to pick up some for later dining and completely forgot! Dang-it!!! Not the end of the world; I'm in Denver for a couple more days, but now I need to go back downtown! #FirstWorldProblems Highly recommended!

Laura R.

Yelp
Deliciousness in a bundle of flavor!! I had the ground beef and spicy chicken empanadas, and of course, had to try the spinach and cheese too, just to try something vegetarian. I could just have eaten the crust, it is so amazing, but then the filling is out of this world too!! I went to the downtown location, and the service could not have been better.

JKyle37 R.

Yelp
Very very yummy, staff is super nice, place is cozy and food was fresh and lots of options on the menu
google avatar

Anne J.

Yelp
Popped in for a bite after seeing rave Yelp reviews, and I was not disappointed. I'm not a huge pastry fan, but when they're hot and fresh, pastries turn out to be a pretty good treat. Lazo's were fresh and served with a smile. I wasn't to the point of dessert, but nutella & banana? Yes please!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie; my weekend in Miami had me craving empanadas real bad, so when a friend cancelled happy hour on me, I felt like I definitely deserved a treat! These empanadas were very enjoyable! I ordered, spicy steak, ham and cheese, and chorizo+egg+cheese. They were very good, but definitely didn't blow my mind. Crust was nice and flaky, filled with tastiness inside. I would definitely say the ham and cheese was my favorite, if you want to know why look at my picture! Tell Me that cheesiness isn't sexy?!? I probably would try the steak quesadilla next time over plain spicy steak because well obviously I'm guessing that's cheese. You just really can't go wrong with cheese if you ask me. Also tried all three sauces, I have to say I would only bother with the green in the future. Chimichurri was good but the green was just so much better. Also a bit disappointed in the red because I was expecting a bit of heat but there was none. Next time I would also try the spicy chicken empanada too! Pretty good, about $4 an empanada so not bad budget wise either.

Yelp
Tasty & fast. But really delicious. And the staff was friendly. I'm so glad I accidentally stopped in.

Yelp
Delicious empanadas near Coors Field and Union Station. Lazo Empanadas is a small empanaderia located on the corner of 22nd and Larimer Street. You can also purchase their empanadas frozen in bulk to bake at home. To preface, I'm no empanada expert, and frankly never really enjoyed empanadas until I ate at Lazo's. For me, empanada's were always too dry and the outer breading always overpowered the interior stuffing. Lazo Empanada's are very different in that the outer pastry shell is much less dense and more crispy rather than bready. And it is this outer shell that has made all the difference for me personally, and converted me into an empanada lover. The light, flaky and crispy external pastry really helps you appreciate and enjoy the flavors of the internal stuffings. Lazo offers a wide range of different stuffings for their empanadas, all distinguished by the design along the edge of the crust. My favorite flavor that I would personally recommend is the SPICY BEEF EMPANADA, and the NUTELLA EMPANADA for dessert. Also of note is they offer their empanadas frozen to bake at home. I've only ever ordered the 10-pack, which comes packaged in a cardboard box. It stores very well in the freezer and they turn out just as good at home.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out due to the rave reviews! Great spot for a quick bite! The empanadas were pretty big and filling. My boyfriend and I both got the promo deal which comes with empanadas, sauce and a drink. He had the chorizo egg and cheese, spicy ground beef, and fresh mushroom empanadas with the green avocado sauce ($15.25). I had the spicy chicken and the spinach & cheese with chimichurri sauce ($11.25). They came out super quick were hot and delicious. The sauces complimented them nicely. If you love empanadas definitely check this place out!

Yelp
Outstanding empanadas. Freshly baked not fried. Great flavor. Great value. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Stopped in while walking downtown Denver and absolutely loved it. They have so many different kinds of Empanadas. I tried the spicy ground beef, spicy chicken, spinach and cheese, and steak quesadilla. All of them were good, crispy, and flavorful. Definitely will be going back.
