The 9 Best Shaved Ice Spots In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Lazy Sundaes on the LES specializes in bingsoo made with uber soft, oat milk-based snow that resembles very finely grated cheese. They sell seven different varieties, and each is made with your choice of organic dairy or vegan coconut condensed milk. The sundaes, each around $10, are about the size of a red Solo cup, so they’re perfect for one person. Our favorite has chunks of fresh mango and mochi, but if you want something less sweet, get the hojicha with red beans." - kenny yang, carina finn koeppicus

Haven’t come a while, have to say really disappointed. I feel like drinking syrup rather than strawberry matcha. 1- no matcha taste at all 2 - bubble as hard as rock It used to be my favorite in Manhattan but sorry, will not waste my $9 for a cup of syrup.

Google
Love this boba place. NYU students get a 10% discount. The boba is great. A bit on the harder side so it’s great if you like that. Grab and go for the most part although it has a couple indoor barstool seats.

Google
one of my faves since covid era. their muscat oolong and white peach white was so bomb!!! super devastated that they’re closing 🥹

Google
Lazy Sundaes has some of the best boba in the city. This place is not super close to us (about a 15 min walk) but worth the trip for us to get their iconic Strawberry Jasmine punch. This stuff is so good. I also love their green plum jasmine tea. If you’re looking for more milky options they have you covered. What I love most about this place is the touchscreen ordering. It allows to you customize everything from the level of sweetness to the amount of boba you’d like if that’s your style.

Google
It’s a small cat themed cafe with a pastel palette. I got the iced matcha strawberry drink and enjoyed the matcha flavor but didn’t taste much strawberry flavor. In my picture of the 3 strawberry matcha lattes, the strawberry amount is uneven. The matcha thankfully did not taste powdery. I think it’s an overpriced matcha drink where you have to pay an extra dollar for any of the toppings. The aesthetics of the menu and drinks are eye popping and make you want to try everything though. The worker was nice and even gave us a cat sticker. They also offer a 10% NYU student discount, so take advantage of that! You can also use the kiosk to order which gives you all of the possible add ons and options you have. We opted for oatly oak milk which didn’t have a surcharge for once! I enjoyed my matcha drink and would probably try the rose milk tea or bingsoo next.

Google
so many creative drinks! also good price, since most boba places around here are very expensive. i wish you could adjust sweetness on all of the drinks, i got the strawberry matcha which i couldn’t adjust and it was too sweet for me to finish.

Google
Cute and aesthetic boba shop. The store itself is pretty small with only two seats so it definitely feels more like a to-go place. I got the iced hojicha latte with boba at 50% sweetness. The hojicha was good but I would recommend getting it less sweet since mine was still too sweet for me. I didn't love the boba itself since it was super chewy and also pretty sweet. My friend got the bingsoo which she really enjoyed. May come back to try that dessert instead!

Google
Great service and drinks. Peach oolong with low sugar and lychee jelly was super tasty and refreshing

Yelp
Found this spot by accident and it was great! I got the salted caramel matcha and loved it. The matcha is very good! Not chalky. It was mixed perfectly. I would definitely come back. The service was great the barista was very knowledgeable and helped me pick my first drink. Ambiance is fun and colorful with a lot of menu and snack options.
google avatar

Yelp
Small shop and fast service with only one barista. Decent drinks spread. They are charging for light ice (50c) and no ice ($1) option now, smh.

Yelp
Overall: 3.7/5 Iced Jasmine Green Tea ($5.50) + Pistachio Milk ($1) + Ube Jelly ($1): The jasmine green tea was good, but only when enjoyed immediately. Once the ice started melting, the flavor became diluted. The ube jelly was disappointing--it didn't pair well with the tea and had an unappealing, chunky texture. Strawberry Matcha Latte ($6.50) + Pistachio Milk ($1) + Tapioca Bubbles ($1): This latte tasted better than the jasmine green tea. The strawberry puree wasn't isn't overly sweet and seemed to be made in-house. However, their strawberry matcha latte pales in comparison to Boba Guys. I'm not sure if it's the drinks we chose or the location but the drinks were better at the Lower East Side location.

Yelp
This place is close to NYU so lots of students stopping by here. Lots of choices here. You can add extra shot of matcha or Hojicha for an extra $1 and customize your milk options and add whatever topping you like. I got the Ispahan Rose Milk Tea with Aloe. It is pretty good. They told me they use raspberry syrup to make it and since it is a signature drink, you can't adjust anything. Remember to stir your drink as all the syrup is on the bottom. I thought the drink was pretty good. They have plastic straws upon request.

Yelp
The store is located near Washington Square Park. The staffs were friendly. Ordered medium jasmine green tea with boba. Would recommend trying it out! Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

Yelp
Unlike the shop's simple interior, the drinks looked super aesthetic and creative. The menu featured unique creations, like Cereal Injeolmi Latte and White Chocolate Hojicha Latte.  I ordered the Isaphan rose milk tea, a blend of rose black tea, raspberry purée, lychee jelly, and milk. Not bad, although I would have preferred a milkier consistency.  Note that this location did not have any seating. I'd come back to try a different dessert :)

Yelp
Not bad. This is a tiny shop by NYU and Washington Square Park. The menu is straightforward and has a good variety. I like that they have a casual take on bingsoo! I tried out their Melona Latte, which tasted exactly like a melted melon bar popsicle! Creamy, not too sweet, and had a pleasant honeydew flavor. The drink didn't seem to have any tea in it though. Their Lychee Green Tea has a strong tea flavor! If you like that, it's a refreshing drink for the summer heat. There wasn't any fresh lychee in it, so be aware that they most likely use a lychee syrup.

Yelp
Ultra friendly service and tasty bevies strawberrymatchalatte sooo yumm tiny spot and so worth the visit

Yelp
Cute small spot in west village right by NyU campus. I was enticed to try the colorful drinks as I saw a gush of students walking out with them. I went in when it wasn't busy right before closing. I got the strawberry matcha iced latte with boba. It was delicious and slurped it down in 2 seconds. The strawberry part in the bottom was sweet, the matcha part wasn't so it was a good balance for me. I almost wished that u got the large size.
google avatar

Alissa A.

Yelp
I go to boba shops with the expectation that the boba should be the right qq texture because that's the most important part of any bubble tea, but I can't say that lazy sundaes did a great job of this. Maybe it was just a bad batch of boba I got that day but the boba was hard and not chewy at all, which was so disappointing since all the drink flavors sounded so good and I had heard good things about this place.
google avatar

Savannah C.

Yelp
The Thai tea with boba was pretty bad. There wasn't a lot of flavor and the boba had a weird hardness to it which was unfortunate. Not worth seven dollars, unfortunately. The service was pretty quick and the place was clean, but too small to hang out in for long.

Yelp
This is the second Lazy Sundaes I've tried here in New York after the one on Canal, and I am just as impressed as my first time. The small location is right across from Washington Square Park and was really giving me Boba Guys vibes. My local west coast peeps will understand what I mean. I am all about shops that focus on actual teas and purees, and less on simply syrups (but I can't guarantee LS doesn't do a little bit of that). My drink of choice this time around was a Hojicha Latte with Oat Milk and half sugar/ice. I love that they offer plant-based milk options here. The quality of the hojicha was excellent and my drink was very refreshing and satisfying. It was also a bit pricier than other boba spots but you're definitely paying for the quality. When we went, there was only one person running the shop so service took a little longer than normal, but it was still a very enjoyable drink.

Yelp
- staff is always chill - wait can take a bit sometimes especially if they're busy - not really any seating - very cramped space - drinks are pretty good but sometimes my stomach hurt after drinking one since they're a bit heavy haha - more on the pricey side but a good treat every now and then :)

Yelp
I've been a loyal fan of Lazy Sundae ever since their former Boba Guys days. Although the name changed, their delicious tea drinks with simple, high-quality ingredients have remained the same. They have great vegan milk alternatives (even pistachio milk!) If you want something sweet, the strawberry matcha latte is a real crowd pleaser (and super cute). I usually go with something simpler like black milk tea, jasmine milk tea, or a hojicha latte. The cereal injeolmi latte, a newer item, is super interesting and tasty (and caffeine-free).
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
One of the teas we got was so bad. I don't think I've ever thrown away an almost full cup of bubble tea. The strawberry purée one was tasty but nothing special. Not sure I understand the hype! I'm going to stick to Miss Du's which opened a location around the corner!

kayla c.

Yelp
I think Lazy Sundaes is a nice bingsu spot. We tried their bingsu and a matcha latte. The bingsu was nice freshing and well shaved. The matcha latte was good nothing to note about. The service is good and fairly fast with making their food. The inside of the spot has comfy chairs and a pretty wide space. It is a nice spot to have some shaved ice on a hot day and take some cute, cozy picture.
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
The inside of the store is so cute! It's small but it gives off baby shower vibes. Every drink I've tried was delicious - my favorites are the strawberry matcha and the hojicha tea. The tapioca is always very chewy, and their ingredients are fresh. Their summer drinks, like the raspberry yuja spritz, are also good. Service is fast, but it's very small so sometimes there's a line.
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
Need to come back and get their milk tea. I got their yuja tea which admittedly was not tasty because you get so much of the actual lemon rinds in there -- very bitter. But the quality of the boba is verrrry chewy and one of the better ones in the city !!
google avatar

Isabelle W.

Yelp
My coworkers and I ordered some boba for the office, and I got the Matcha Strawberry with Boba. The strawberry taste reminded me of the strawberry used in Costco strawberry sundaes, which was super nostalgic. Unfortunately, this drink was way too sweet for me with no option to change sweetness through the UberEats app, but it was still good!
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
Tasty bingsoo, not a huge red bean person and have never seen it in a fruity bingsoo, but it's a unique touch. Short walk to WSQ park so you can sit there and eat since there's not a lot of seating inside the shop. They also use oatmilk in their bingsoo
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
This spot was a perfect pick me up after a long day. The tea is brewed well and everything tastes balanced. The yuzu ade was a delight and refreshing. Not too sweet. Great yuzu/citrus peels in the drink to give it an extra umph. The strawberry bingsoo had red bean, mochi and strawberry purée at the bottom. It was a great combination. Not too sweet. The shaved ice was perfect and fine. I'd definitely come back in the future for my boba cravings.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to try Lazy Sundaes during their 2-year birthday promotion ($2 for select boba drinks), and opted for the Jasmine Milk Tea with oat milk, 50% sweetness, and boba. Staff at this location were super friendly and my order was ready within 3-4 mins despite the small crowd that had accumulated in the store. I personally enjoyed the boba texture and thought that the drink had a good level of sweetness. The jasmine tea had a nice, fresh flavor, but could have been stronger as the oat milk was a bit overpowering. Though no longer affiliated with Boba Guys, there are undeniably similarities with the drinks (which in my opinion is a good thing!).
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I got the lazy strawberry latte and the drink was okay, but the boba was slightly hard and undercooked. The place is quite small and it is self-serve ordering on a kiosk. It's close by to Washington Square Park if you want to grab a drink and stroll around there.
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
Hot hojicha with boba was really good. I loved the chew of the boba, and the flavor was spot on. I wished the temp was a bit warmer but still really tasty and close to the park.

Pea K.

Yelp
no bingSoo. no phone so don't make your way over only to find this location doesnt have the shaved ice machine.
google avatar

Carolyn D.

Yelp
Cereal Injeolmi Latte: I got this hot with oat milk on a sick day. It was comforting and tasty -- has a distinct nutty flavor. If you're a fan of drinking desserts you'd like this. I wish you could adjust the sugar though, because it was just a little too sweet for me. Muscat oolong: I was very excited for this because I love oolong and I also love fruit-oolong blends, but this did not hit the spot :( It was giving grape medicine. Or just that artificial grape flavor. Is that just what muscat grapes taste like? No way, right??
google avatar

Mickie K.

Yelp
I came back for round two at a different location. I ordered to melona lattte, honestly my favorite drink right, the drink is like $10 which is pricey as hell but damn it's worth the sugar rush that I have been getting lately, so it's worth it to me which I don't mind it. The staff is very friendly and nice, no doubt about it. They only have a small standing area but that's about it'.
google avatar

Nian Z.

Yelp
Haha should I even be reviewing this place even though I've only had one drink? Hojicha Bingsoo Sundae ($9.25 after tax): comes in the same size as a drink, but this is the Korean shaved ice. Theirs is oatmilk based, and normally I'm not big on oatmilk based things (like Oatly ice cream....um nah) but this one is surprisingly mild. If you didn't tell me, I probably wouldn't know! Overall, loved the bingsoo. Soft and fluffy shaved ice, and everything together wasn't too sweet despite there being hojicha syrup, condensed milk, red beans, and mochi. I definitely love the hojicha flavor too. The only downside is that it melts very, very fast, and this was eaten outside on a summer day that's actually quite gloomy and not too hot/humid. So I can only imagine the melting rate when it's actually on a day that shaved ice would be more popularly consumed. Despite that, and the price point that's usually reserved for a mountain of bingsoo, I'd gladly come back to try another flavor!
google avatar

Yelp
A very small store in a well est location for those students in a need of a colorful drink fix. I'm sure there's a good enough variety to match one's preference. Otherwise, the store is very stuffy on the very small side. When I came in I found myself feeling cramped and claustrophobic, due to a very loud and large girly group blocking the whole store and exit door. Seems we had to do some fancy twirling.
google avatar

Justine B.

Yelp
Best Vegan sundaes and bubble teas! So delicious and flavorful. Good size portions. They are able to customize most drinks to make them vegan for no extra charge. Sundaes can be made vegan by removing whip cream and using vegan condensed milk. Small location with outdoor seating, but mostly good for to-go orders.
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
Super cute Asian dessert place in the heart of Greenwich. Matcha Bingsu The Bungsu was rich in flavor but it wasn't very sweet. We had to ask for condensed milk on the side. The toppings were really good! I really liked the Mochi bits and the red bean was tasty. I think everything paired well together. *any swapping of toppings costs more Jasmine milk tea with boba This place uses whole milk/oat milk/pistachio milk in their drinks instead of creamer. The boba was a good texture and wasn't too sweet. I usually get 50% sweet but this place is a little more on the unsweet side so I would get 75% next time. The taste was good and I believe the caffeine level was a bit stronger than the usual because I had trouble sleeping the night I had the drink. Passion fruit drink The passion fruit was very refreshing on such a hot day. It's a nice, basic drink to get. You can never go wrong with passion fruit.

Yelp
Have I had boba three times already this week? Mind your own business. This is the first time I have been to Lazy Sundaes (formerly Boba Guys, so I'm told), and I gotta say... it is my new favorite place! The menu of drinks isn't enormous, but what they do have on it is both intriguing and really delicious. Plus they have all the best toppings. I couldn't decide what I wanted, so a friend and I got two things and shared- one milky latte and one fruity tea. The strawberry matcha latte with boba was a winner for sure! At first, you taste the creaminess of the milk and the earthiness of the matcha, but then the strawberry kicks in and leaves your palette with a sweet aftertaste. I haven't had anything like that at any other boba place, so for that unique experience alone, I give 5 stars. I will definitely have to be back.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Finally tried the cereal milk drink! It was a little on the sweet side (I wish I could've adjusted) but the taste was delicious. I will definitely go back to try more drinks. The service was also super quick.

Boba B.

Yelp
Good sweetness and good flavor. I don't really taste the brown sugar part of it but good drink nonetheless. Costs $7.28 though with tax and everything, but oat milk swap is free.
google avatar

Li W.

Yelp
Had the Moscato Bubble Milk Tea, and it was delicious! Without any sugar, the moscato grapes really came through. I was pleasant surprised at how delicious this was! Would recommend.
google avatar

Kieun L.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to get bingsoo (shaved ice)! Got the strawberry one, and it was delicious. I'm picky about my bingsoo - from the ice texture to the red beans. I thought this was pretty solid. It was also milky, not watery - which is v important. I think I tried the original one before but prefer the strawberry!

Dorothy F.

Yelp
Great service, prices are about what you expect for its location. Delicious drinks! I also love their shaved ice.
google avatar

Meaghan G.

Yelp
Yesterday was perfect weather for bubble tea, and I had been wanting to try out the strawberry matcha flavor. I was not dissapointed - the matcha was very smooth and the strawberry jam perfectly complimented the flavor. I also appreciate that you don't have to pay extra for non-dairy milk. My friend ordered the bingsoo for the first time, and although she didn't like the red beans, she loooooved the rest of the shaved ice! I will definitely come back and try the shaved ice next time. Overall, super tasty and refreshing :)
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
Got the strawberry bingsoo. Perfect for summer weather. Sweet but not too sweet. It's more on the icier side (not that I'm mad about it but I did expect snowflake bingsoo). Not too much strawberry syrup/strawberry compote but still good. I would say it's on the pricier side for a cup bingsoo ($9 + tax) but I think it was worth getting it as a sweet, refreshing snack.
google avatar

Beatriz P.

Yelp
I got the strawberry milk tea and my friend got the decaf black tea. Both drinks were really good. The strawberry milk takes like a mix of a mild blue bell strawberry ice cream/ Nesquik milk. I was worried because I normally don't like my drinks too sweet and I couldn't adjust the sweetness of this. It was really good and not overly sweet at all. The boba is well sweetened and the right chewiness. 10/10 will come back again
google avatar

Sofia K.

Yelp
Tried the Gingerbread chai latte and it was really bad. The drink was just water with a really strong chai flavor. One sip had me gagging and I couldn't drink it which sucks because I was looking forward to trying this flavor. Maybe some more milk and less water next time. The other drinks are still really good.
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
Easily my favorite boba place in the city, and I've got a boba addiction problem... Highly recommend the strawberry lazy latte/milk tea - the condensed milk is a nice touch that I haven't seen at other shops! If you'd like something less sweet, I've also enjoyed the classic jasmine green tea. I find their boba the perfect amount of chew - not rock hard, but not so chewy that you're chewing gum. You can tell it's freshly made. Pro tip: if you're doing a late night order or ordering boba for several days (again, I have issues...), order no ice and get the crystal boba/agar jelly instead of regular boba. Keeps in the fridge much better.
google avatar

Sheena B.

Yelp
It was a superrr hot day in ny this day, luckily we found this boba shop right by washington square park that also sells korean bingsoo shaved ice. It was the perfect cold treat for the hot weather and they also offer non-dairy alternatives which is nice for us lactose intolerant friends ~ strawberry bingsoo (8/10) strawberry matcha latte (10/10)
google avatar

Shirley H.

Yelp
Wasn't as good as it looks. I got the Hojicha Bingsoo Sundae and Rose Matcha Latte for my friend. The bingsoo sundae was topped with misugaru mochi, boba and red bean. Ignoring the fact that it was not the best timing to eat shaved ice in the cold since there's no indoor seating here, the bingsoo was very underwhelming in flavor. The hojicha (roasted tea) flavor was there in the form of frozen ice bits mixed with the milky ice bits but it just wasn't that appetizing. I think I'll just stick to hojicha ice cream rather than hojicha flavored ice. My friend enjoyed her rose matcha latte so I guess drinks would be a better choice. The store has nice aesthetics but falls short in taste.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Visited NYC looking to see if boba in East cost can beat West coast. After trying several difference places during my trip. This place would be the most comparable to West coast. I got a jasmine milk tea with boba. It was pretty good. Strong tea flavor. I love floral teas and it was up to par with teas on the West coast. Boba was nice and chewy. Got the drink at 50% sweetness and I would recommend going with that. It wasn't overly sweet or under sweet. If you're looking for a strong tea flavor, I recommend coming here!
google avatar

Sharm S.

Yelp
This new location in Greenwich Village just opened (Waverly Place) and is super convenient for the NYU and village area. The staff was so pleasant and welcoming & I absolutely loved the store front. We had the pleasure of trying the Korean Bingsoo and I had the matcha white chocolate boba - delicious! You can choose the type of milk, amount of sweet etc to your taste. Everything was so fresh and delightful. Also really pretty to photograph ;) They are open now with safety measures in place so please support your local NYC small businesses. This is the perfect treat to brighten anyone's day!

Yelp
One of my new favorite bubble tea places is Lazy Sundaes! There's four locations and this is the second one that I have visited (within a few days!). The location is good, with parking close by available after 6pm. I tried the White Peach White this time with lychee jelly and it was refreshing! I opted 50% sugar but I realized I could go down one more notch, since the lychee jelly seemed to come with syrup too. I's love to try other flavors!

Yelp
I missed the Strawberry Matcha Latte from Boba Guys a lot until I realized they became Lazy Sundaes and they had it on the menu so I went with my mom to get a cup! The shop inside looked very similar to Boba Guys except instead of an anteater, it's a cat! The shop was very clean and they are following covid protocols as there's a 6 person limit, a glass shield between you and the employee, and no indoor eating. They did have a very cute outdoor seating area, but it's so close to WSQ Park, you can take the drink and sip it there! Our server was named Rebecca and they were extremely patient with us since we were unsure about what we wanted to order. They then gave great suggestions to help us decide. I got the Strawberry Matcha Latte and my mother took Rebecca's suggestion and got the Hojicha Latte which is not very sweet and has less caffeine. The Strawberry Matcha Latte is my absolute favorite, it is sweet and refreshing. They did a great job on our drinks and we were very satisfied! I highly recommend going if you love sweet drinks and would definitely come back again! Next time, I'm curious to try their bingsoo!
