The Ultimate Guide to Dining and Drinking in Fredericksburg, Texas | Eater Austin

"Historic presidential site encompassing the former home and grounds of a U.S. president, where visitors can drive to multiple locations across the property—birthplace, first school, and family cemetery—to tour the life and legacy at their own pace." - Brittany Britto Garley

LBJ State Park is a must visit. It’s so cool seeing all the history. The animals are the best. The staff are very nice

Renovation was going on and we weren’t able to see the little White House or plane hanger. They do disclose this information prior to going on the phone. Plenty of things to do from the visitor center to the live farm. Ask about the bisons. Amazing creatures to see in Texas. The place is FREE to visit and park. Donations are welcomed!

LBJ ranch was amazing. Nice drive viewing nature and history. We came across Amber park ranger/ historian. She was so kind and gave us a wonderful and detailed tour.

Since 2018, the house tours are not available due to their restoration of the property but you can wander around and enjoy the exterior of the house and see Air Force One and the ranch. Beautiful and quiet. In 2018, we did the tour and it was so interesting. It’s really worth seeing all of the LBJ properties and museums.

This is such a great tour! We loved everything from the "Living History Farm" to the driving tour of the ranch, and walking through the hangar full of fascinating tidbits of info. Very friendly staff at the visitors center made asking questions easy.

Very disappointing. Came all the way here from Chicago to see basically nothing. The house and hangar (the two stars of the show) are blocked off and hidden from view. One cannot get to within 200-300 yards of the house. The website mentions that both the house and hangar are closed until late 2025, but it doesn’t mention that the places also cannot be seen! The park should allow for the public (that drove a long distance from either Austin or San Antonio) to at least get a decent view of the 2 places from some designated spot instead of having everything blocked. Very little regard for those who have come a long way. It was very nice to see the family plot, airstrip, and Herefords, but it was hardly worth the trip. Again, extremely disappointing. However, I will return after the house and hangar are rehabbed.

Really enjoyed the self-guided driving tour. We downloaded the app at the suggestion of the park ranger and it was really cool to feel like you had a tour guide inside your car as you drove through the ranch. The cattle wander across the road and you will likely drive within a few feet of them - was worth the visit!

Hi, went this July first week. Most of the part is closed for renovation, call before you go. The ranch itself is very beautiful, there is a camp ground, picnic spot and lots of deer around!
