"While we’ve arguably had better Moroccan, Le 404 isn’t really about the food (though the lentils and chicken tagines are a welcome culinary break from beef bourguignon): It’s always a party, best capped off with a cocktail at Andy Wahloo next door (from the same owners). Keep in mind that Le 404 is also open on Sundays, a Parisian rarity."

It was a wonderful dining experience from the beginning to the end. We came in 40 minutes before their break time and they let us still dine in as a party of four. The service was incredible as well as the ambience of the restaurant. It was my first time having Moroccan food and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I definitely recommend this place if you enjoy fresh flavors. 10/10 will be back.

What a lovely experience! We came for a late dinner, and the 404 was everything we expected. The moment you walk in the interior decoration will blow your mind. Exquisite attention to detail. We were hungry so we ordered more things than I remember. Starters were generally good - we tried the soup (hreira), most hot appetizers (cheese, beef, chicken, seafood pie, sambosa). Main dishes were even better - we had the lamb shoulder with couscous, lamb was very tender and well cooked (5/5). The chicken tajin was even better, full of flavor (10/5). The dessert was okay, but could've been better - we tried 4 types, they were not on par with the standard of the main dishes and starters. (3/5) Overall a lovely experience, definitely to be repeated P.s. the vibes and music playing was on fire. Had a hard time staying seated haha

Google
What an experience ! The decor is amazing, you feel transported to Morocco while in the middle of Paris. The service was fast and very friendly. The food was very good, our highlights where the Pigeon Pastilla and the Mechoui. We shared dishes family style. I just wish they could have brought dishes one after the other rather than all at as some got a bit cold by the time we got to them. Looking forward to coming back.

Google
Great atmosphere, excellent food. The Tajine's are so full of flavour. I have been twice now with friends and tried most of the Tajine's on the menu. the apricot lamb shank Tajine was my favourite.

Wonderful spot for an elevated dinner, intimate or with friends. Food is beautiful and delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Go!

Google
Paris is a great place to eat North African food, and this restaurant serves excellent Moroccan food in a cosy and comfortable setting. They serve the tagine in an authentic clay bowl, and that was my favourite dish of the meal. The grilled meat was delicious too!

Google
Every time our feet touch down in Paris, they take us right to Le 404. The food is the star, but the ambiance and service take us right into a Moroccan fantasy! Get the mint tea to start and finish, the 7 vegetable couscous is my fav, my kids and hubby gobble up the Moroccan meatballs and we always, ALWAYS, end with the oranges for dessert. Trust me it is not as simple as it sounds. We have been going for years and it just never disappoints.

We just love this place for delicious, authentic Moroccan cuisine. Come here every time we’re in Paris.

Yelp
Absolutely loved our dinner here. The ambience is wonderful and they did a great job of decorating the interior. This was our first dinner in the city. I got the lamb shoulder couscous and my boyfriend got the 7 vegetable tagine. The one drawback is for the amount of food the table space is very minimal. The food itself was delicious and the portion sizes huge. My boyfriend had to help me finish my dish. The one odd thing is for his tagine, we weren't sure if the couscous given to us was just for my order or his tagine as well. Nevertheless it was delicious, service was great and I enjoyed this meal very much.

Yelp
Had lunch at 404 today...overall it's a good solid choice. We had a lamp tagine and the 7 vegetables with couscous. Overall delicious. The not so great is the service which is friendly but spotty. We'll definitely return though!

Yelp
Service was great, food was amazing. We had a great time . Chef Hassan was so friendly and kind. Will definitely recommend it . Best Regards

Yelp
Small intimate place serving North African inspired food. Quite dark inside. There is a set menu option for lunch which my friend and I didn't take advantage of. Started off with a small hot mezze option, which was light and delicious. We had the lamb shank, couscous, and grilled lamb with two glasses of Bordeaux wines. Wasn't a fan of lamb shank, but the grilled lamb was superb. Service was quite good.

Yelp
Like leaving Paris for a few delicious hours. Small but oh soo good atmosphere. Little tables, mood lighting and filled with people having fun. Very special night. Even finding the bathroom and discovering the courtyard was interesting. Yummy beef samosas, mixed grill and couscous, lamb tangine and bastilla. And the African wine was the surprise of the night. Seriously one of our best nights out. Very fun.

Yelp
The food was just okay. A lot of flavors going on, but somehow I don't feel like they came together. The atmosphere is lively, but they squeeze everyone together so tightly I barely had room to turn around. Good in a pinch or for appetizers, but I probably won't be back.

Yelp
First time having Moroccan. This place has a really cool atmosphere. Feel like I'm in a Moroccan theme set. Tables are extremely cramped though. Food was good and bad. Appetizer (olives, etc) was really tasty. The main dishes for the most part were okay, but not as flavorful as I would have expected.
google avatar

Alex Z.

Yelp
Great Moroccan food, huge dish from grill lamb shank, grilled lamb shoulder to skewers. The lambs are really fresh. It comes with a vegetable stew to go with the cus cus. The place is very small; most table are very close to each other so you need to Kinda squeeze in if you are sitting in the middle. Not much privacy, I came here at 11:30pm and it was still full. So reservation is highly recommended The interior is very nicely designed, has the Moroccan taste and makes you feel like you are not in Paris. The price is very decent; don't need to break a wallet to to full . Probably one of the best Moroccan I have in a while

Yelp
Service I think it's really sad that the reviews for this restaurant are so low on Yelp for pretty much the sole reason of - "they are rude/ brusk because we were American". It's f***cking Paris!! Yes many restaurants are now very tourist friendly, but when you go to the best most authentic restaurants in Paris/ France in general they are still rather impatient with English-speaking tourists who absolutely refuse to even attempt to speak French. Imagine French people rocking up in NYC and steadfastly refusing to even attempt the English language, that would be absurd. So treat them with the same basic respect and do a bit of DuoLingo before you go on your vacay. Despite clearly being English, I still did my best to speak basic French to them i.e. "Je voudrais le...., un bouteille de ...., s'il vous plait, merci" just BASIC STUFF and the servers were completely lovely to us and smiled a lot at my attempts to converse. The service is slow because that's the way things are in France, people there expect to eat leisurely without a rush and if you don't want to do that then yeah don't go here - go to McDonalds. Ambience The interior decor is absolutely stunning, having been to Marrakech I do believe it is like being transported into a riad. The way you walk in from the bustle of Paris into this darkly lit romantic restaurant is wonderful. Yes the tables are packed in close together but that's the case in 90% of the restaurants in Paris, so that is frankly a ridiculous thing to complain about. Food Authentic Moroccan cuisine. We had the preserved lemon chicken tagine and the Cous Cous 404. The mixed meat, especially the mergeuz and lamb, were completely divine. Coupled with the delicately spiced seven vegetable sauce dish and the super light cous cous, it was so light yet decadent. I loved the accoutrements of chickpeas, raisins and harissa, it was a lovey touch. Literally one dish at this place is served like a feast, it is truly of royal and epic proportions. The preserved lemon tagine was very well balanced and delicate but I would order the cous cous 404 again over the tagine because the meat was absolutely incredible. The Moroccan wine was lovely and reasonably priced, the whole bill was very reasonable considering the meal was such a feast. If the negative reviews about the servers behavior towards American tourists are discounted, this place should be a 4.5 star establishment. I will definitely return when I'm next in Paris.

Yelp
Last Saturday I was with family and friends in Paris and a Dutch friend texted me talking about this restaurant, we only could find a reservation at 22:30, but ohh boy it worth the wait. Food, atmosphere, decoration, service, everything was great!!!! This is by far my favorite restaurant in France. Ps: Really recommend the Moroccan wine. Call for reservations EARLY, otherwise you will miss this place and regret it.

Yelp
A beautiful Moroccan restaurant. The spices and the rice were perfect and the location is subtle and tucked away on a quiet street. Well worth the visit.

Yelp
404 where do I begin? My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I believe our dinner reservation was later, around 9:30-10pm. There was not an empty seat in the house!! It was dark and cozy with floating candles in the walls. We had never been to a Moroccan restaurant before but this was recommended to us by friends that said we could not visit Paris without going! Our waiter was so friendly and helpful while we were trying to navigate the menu. We started with the hot mezze platter which was basically different meats in a philo flaky pastry crust which were delicious! Then we shared the lamb kefkta with vegetables and chicken couscous. Both were very delicious and filling!!! We were only two but it was enough to feed 3-4 people. The restaurant was also playing music from the culture and people were getting up randomly and dancing a bit plus clapping. It was a lot of fun!

Yelp
Decided to go here with the family given it's one of the few places that are open on Sunday. Also read that the food here is good. Although the food was pretty good, I rated it as a three star due to comfort and service. The place seem to want to have the maximum amount of people in a limited room. We got a table that fit six in the corner. The table leg was weirdly placed so that we couldn't enjoy ourself when eating, at least my brother and I agreed about that. Also given their was only two waiters they were super busy so the service was a bit slow. Maybe due to the high demand for their services the waitress didn't have a good mood and she didn't hide it. For food now! We were a group of 6 and we shared everything. We started with two of 404 salad which is small plates of all of their 4 salads. They were ok, I liked the lentils the most. As a second appetizer we ordered (2) the pastry filled with cheese, shrimp, beef, chicken. They are one piece of each kind so it got tricky on who got to try what given it's impossible to know what inside the filling without taking a bite or cutting it. For the main dishes we went with the meat balls tagine, the meat ball cuscus, lamb shoulder cuscus, 6 vegatibles tagine and chicken with lime. First this was too much for 6 people and I would have removed one dish probably the chicken given it was our least favorite. Our favorite was the meatball Tagine and the lamb shoulder was good too. Overall a good restaurant to go to on a Sunday given the limited options.

Yelp
Can't believe I forgot to review. It one of my favorite restaurants in Paris. It's very crowded and loud but has great atmosphere. We had the pastilla ( perfect and not overly sweet), refreshing tomato salad, chicken with lemon and olives and a lamb tag one with couscous and veggies. I think I've been coming here fir 10 years and it never disappoints

Yelp
Had a very lovely experience here with my friends a week ago. We strolled in at 9. They didn't have an available table until 10:30p. We weren't too surprised because it was Saturday night. So be prepared if you plan on coming on a weekend night! The service was excellent. The server was quirky and more importantly attentive. The food was also really good! We ordered the lamb meatball tagine, quail with dates, and chicken with lemon. I would highly highly recommend the quail! I was still thinking about it the day after. The lamb was good too. As for the chicken, you can probably skip it. The ambiance of Le 404 is perfect. It's dark, fun, and romantic. Overall, I had a really great time here!

Alyssa E.

Yelp
This was our favorite meal in Paris. We have never tried Moroccan food before, but now we are in love! The atmosphere was very nice. The lamb was delicious! We also tried an Algerian wine, it was amazing! If I'm ever in Paris again, this place with surely be on our list!
google avatar

Misty S.

Yelp
Amazing experience. The atmosphere, music, and people set a wonderful tone. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the lamb meatball tajine and any couscous dish. The couscous was so light and fluffy. The table are shared with other diners, which creates great conversation.

Joud A.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. 10/10 recommended. My friends and I went twice and were amazed everytime. We even took a morrocan friend who was ready to judge anything. Everything was perfect from the customer service to the food.

Yelp
For being one of the best meals of my life, I'm actually astounded that the ratings on Yelp aren't higher. Literally every dish that came out was mouthwateringly delicious and I was grateful that this was my introduction to Moroccan cuisine. Do yourself a favor and try both hot and cold starters as our table did - as well as 3 Tagine's to share. All meat just fell off the bone and the flavors of everything mixed in the tagine were rich. There wasn't a single thing that night that missed the mark.
google avatar

Jon E.

Yelp
This place was beautiful! The Norman / Moroccan style in here is really top notch... from the hanging chandeliers, to the pillows on the chairs, to the beautiful window dressings, the ceiling, the table settings... everything. All the dishes are served in beautiful ceramics and no attention to detail seems to go unthought. While the food was actually not as flavorful and high-quality as others here made me expect (I got a lamb and artichoke tagine), I still thought this was an incredibly romantic spot to have a meal and the service was incredibly friendly. I will remember this meal for a long time and I definitely recommend others give it a shot.
google avatar

Sandy M.

Yelp
Cunard with apples, cinnamon and almonds. Tasted a hint of star anise maybe but this dish was totally beyond my expectations It was decadent and rich of course but beyond tender and seasoned superbly. The aroma out of the Tagine could knock you out you'd swear you've got to heaven. We sat inside but it was beautiful outside as well / just a little chilly tonight. Spot on dinner. We also has the stuffed sea Breem which was dense overloaded with veggies. We finally ordered the Tagine fish which was way too heavy yet delicious. Thick heavy fish and too dense. Not tender. So less excited about this dinner selection. Overall delicious. ORDER THE DUCK! You won't be disappointed. Heck of a mojito too! Wonderful atmosphere and lovely wait staff. I'm actually crying I didnt bring the little bit of duck and apples home. It'd be a great snack about now!
google avatar

Marie G.

Yelp
Their food has SO MUCH FLAVOUR!! You can order tagines, Cous Cous based meals, salads, protein dishes, and Moroccan desserts. I ordered the duck tagine and could not fault it. Was very impressed by the taste! I paid 25 euro for a duck tagine and a glass of red wine which went down a treat. They also served complementary bread to go with the dish. Service was also excellent!
google avatar

Diana W.

Yelp
We definitely had a fun night at 404-- the setting and ambiance are great, the service was quick and friendly and the drinks were delicious (although I'm not sure how boozey they really were...) As for our dishes, the tajines were just OK. Being that this is their specialty I expected a bit more, especially around 22€ each, I was a little disappointed. No regrets, but I'm not rushing back. Bouffe: 6/10 Boisson: 7/10 Ambiance: 9/10
google avatar

Margaret M.

Yelp
Amazing food and decor inside. Definitely make a reservation as it gets quite full. The salad mezze to start was just perfect although we shared between 2 and I wish I had gotten my own because it was so delicious! We loved the chicken tagine and the slow cooked lamb leg couscous. Both were absolutely delicious! The couscous was perfectly cooked. Only complaint was that we were seated outside and we felt like the service and ambience outside were lacking vs what was provided inside.

Nickie K.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful. We sat on the balcony and enjoyed amazing Moroccan food. Definitely get the tea digestif after dinner. Everything was great, including our waiter who shared the story behind the name with us. Will definitely be back when visiting Paris.

Yelp
After spending two weeks in France, we were ready for a cuisine that didn't involve lots of cheese, so we checked out Le 404 out after reading some favourable Yelp reviews. While the décor was terrific and the service kind, the food was pretty uninteresting. We were hoping for some rich, savory tagines with lots of spice and the quintessential saffron perfumed quality that makes Moroccan stews so delicious. But our dishes were bordering on watery and certainly not the flavourful punch we were hoping for. We started off with the Moroccan lentil salad and the house tabboule. Both, while nicely presented, tasted like the kind of thing one would spoon up at the grocery store deli. The tabboule was mostly grain with very little parsley and no mint to be found. The lentils were tasty enough but they were overcooked and tasted like they could have come out of a can. Not so appetizing. I ordered the preserved lemon and olive tagine and, aside from the delicious preserved lemon (which is good no matter what you do to it), the rest of the dish didn't have much to speak of. My husband's 7-vegetable tagine was soupy and didn't contain any legumes, so his protein was limited to the lentil salad we had eaten earlier. He was disappointed. All in all, while a nice diversion from heavy French fare, Le 404 doesn't really deliver given the prices they charge (our bill was about 60 euros, which included 2 apps, 2 dinners and one drink). My husband also complained that it wasn't very filling - a frustration given the money we spent. Vegetarian Score: 6.5/10. A vegetarian can have some choice here, but you can probably find better elsewhere.

Alicia V.

Yelp
Best meal we had in Paris. It was absolutely incredible! The spices, tagines, veggies, everything was cooked to perfection and the ambiance!! Candle lit, cushions, dark wood. It was an absolute memory to be cherished! Delicious!
google avatar

Victoria K.

Yelp
The attitude of the staff spoils the good food and the hospitable image of Morocco. Been here 3 times ( by invitation) the last 2 years but will never return. This is an example for the Parisian arrogance, unfortunately

Jim S.

Yelp
Great food, but evening was spoiled when waiter shook us down for a tip that was way beyond what is customary in France. If you are an American please be forewarned. They will prey upon your natural inclination to leave a 15-20% tip. But this is way beyond the norm in a France.

Yelp
we had a very bad experience with this restaurant in paris. my friends and i booked a reservation online for 5 people. two of the girls didn't know that the 5th was coming, and when they arrived first, they told the host that we had a reservation. girls: hi reservation for 4 please host: who's it under? girls: either michelle or cecilia host: no there's no reservation for that (girls look on screen, point out michelle's name) host: and this is for 4 people? for 7:30? girls: NO for 8:30...RIGHT NOW. (host walks away. we come in and we hear about the situation) michelle: hi we're here for 8:30 reservations under michelle. is there a problem? (host says no, but seats us in a table meant for 4 with me sticking out the side) i'm not sure if he was just being rude to us because we don't speak french, or what his problem was. but he basically didn't believe that we had made a reservation and spoke down to us. he didn't even acknowledge us when we left the restaurant. no goodbye or goodnight or thank you. the food itself was great and the ambience was cool. but the host was REALLY rude and left a bad taste in my mouth. i feel obligated to let everyone know that if you go here, you will NOT be treated with respect.
google avatar

Oscar C.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here, with the lentil soup which was very good and the Tajine de Poulet, citrons confits et olives which was an amazingly prepared poultry dish. My companions had another Poulet dish and Canard, which were both great as well. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Hélène S.

Yelp
There may be better Moroccan in Paris but can you get a better ambiance ? I doubt it. 404 has 2 seatings a night so don't be surprised when you don't get the exact hour you want. You can come late or early, it won't be a problem. It is a perfect place to take a date because the lighting is romantic and the space small - you feel like you're alone in a crowd (which you are). All the food is good. Moving on... The drinks are DELISH- try their mojito. And after, head over to Andy Wahloo the bar next door. It is owned by the same people and you should have no trouble getting in if you had dinner at either Derrier or 404. Durring summer they open the terrace for dinner - but I wouldn't recommend doing that. The interior space is just too beautiful. PS it's also a great place to host a party !
google avatar

Pam T.

Yelp
Ahhhh! Every now and then, you need something a little different. I love this place. It's romantic, has wonderful service, and the food is amazing. They also have an amazingly affordable lunch. What's not to love?
google avatar

Max C.

Yelp
My recent dinner here was about average truth be told. The food was good but not great and not exceptional. I'm glad I stopped but can't say I will make it a priority to do so on a next visit. I had the lamb skewers and also tried the tangible. The fact is that it was not very much discernible from the kebab places that I tried there. I also was not a fan of the cramped quarters. I know restaurants have to be creative with their space utilization by I would rather not be touching my neighbors elbow.
google avatar

Katy F.

Yelp
I can not describe how good this meal was. It was tasty and the portions we huge! We were anticipating small European portions. Share as much as you can. The dishes are pricey but I think you get the value out of each one. The Moroccan salad was very flavorful and fresh. Our main dishes (chicken with pear, chicken with lemon, quail, roasted veggies and couscous with lamb, chicken and sausage) were so good! Tender meat, good complementing flavors and more than enough to eat. Be absolutely sure to taste the Moroccan mint tea. It's sweet and strong, a good end to a lovely feast. The restaurant fills up fast so either get there at 8 or make a reservation. Service is slow because it gets busy but don't let that stop you from checking this gem out! Happy eating :)
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
An absolutely enormous place. Much too large to deliver decent quality control and service. Fantastic vibe wasted on a space too loud to engage in conversation with my dining companions. Reminded me of a Disneyland Paris restaurant.
google avatar

Jae Z.

Yelp
I'm a BIG fan of the pigeon pie. Really anything that's sweet and savory at the same time and involving phyllo dough is a recipe for greatness in my book. Really, everything should come in a pie crust. I know they're famous for the tagine, but my lord, gimme that dough.
google avatar

Katya R.

Yelp
Nice interior, good food, pricey. For a good Moroccan meal, I could go to the Southern part of Paris where you can find restaurants that are decked out floor-to-celing with tiles, and have food that is just as delicious and not as pricey. The food here was good, but check out the owners place behind - Derriere - for a cool ambiance and a "modern" menu instead.
google avatar

Maggie L.

Yelp
Great Moroccan Food and a chance to eat with the locals! We booked a 10:00 pm reservation at 404 for our second night in Paris based on it's Zagat review and its proximity to our flat for the week. We LOVED our experience here. In a city where speaking only English is not a big problem, it was refreshing to be at a restaurant where we had to figure our way through the menu and ordering process with our very French waiter. The room is beautiful, tiny, and smells delicious. We loved both the pigeon pastilla (kind of like a pot pie) and the lamb couscous we ordered. The couscous could definitely feed 2 people. I will definitely be recommending 404 to others.

Yelp
Magnifique cadre. Couscous et tajines goûteux et service attentionné. Pensez à réserver.
google avatar

Tall C.

Yelp
Went to have dinner there with a friend. At night, there was a wonderful atmosphere, a very dark room, superbly high ceilings, and light coming down on the white tables with the shimmering of Moroccan lanterns and green glass. The food was delicious & generous. A great place to spend a very beautiful evening.

Bijuri S.

Yelp
The ambience takes you back to Morocco, as well as the food. Being a vegetarian they had a lot of options i had the grilled vegetables which was really good and the cous cous also the service was good but they refused to take orders after 11 hence make sure to go Earlier and have a great time
google avatar

JD S.

Yelp
I echo what a lot of other reviewers have said about this place. The atmosphere is gorgeous & the food delicious, however the attitude from our server really detracted from the experience. I think he scammed us as well...I had ordered a bottle of rosé the menu listed as €21 or something similar, but he rambled off something in French & brought out a different bottle that ended up costing €45 & was nothing special. My French is nonexistent so I couldn't really argue. I just paid the extra cost but it didn't sit right with me. Probably my least favorite dining experience in France.

Traveling G.

Yelp
While the food was not bad but not really anything special, the rudeness and arrogance was beyond anything we have ever experienced. Our server was condescending and nasty, and the service was extremely rushed. Our experience so unpleasant, we asked for the check and left long before we were finished with our meal. We can't tell you why, although the fact that we were Americans certainly seemed to play a part. Why print your menu in english when you don't welcome American guests? The attitude of the staff and insulting manner in which we were treated was enough for us to contact the corporate offices. To which we got no response unsurprisingly. Wish we had believed the other negative reviews.

Yelp
Well known Moroccan place with lovely decor, family style seating and eating, and food that won't disappoint! Named after the ubiquitous Peugeot model that populated many Arab countries. And next door is Andy Waloo when you're ready to stretch out!

Shane P.

Yelp
Went there two Sundays ago after we managed to get a last-minute reservation. Everything was wonderful - the lamb was tender, the chicken was delicious and the service really great. Will come back here again whenever I'm in Paris.
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere! The food was delicious, the garden was very beautiful and the vibe was really awesome! Will recommend to everyone looking for a cool urban fancy place to eat!
google avatar

Yelp
Fabulous meal. Pricey but worth it. We had the tagine chicken and the lamb skewers. Cooked perfectly. The signature cocktail is mojito (11€) overpriced but in context worked with the meal. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Great Moroccan food and wonderful environment! Having been to Morocco recently, the chicken tagine wasn't the best, but the lentils and couscous were excellent. To break away from French food every night in Paris, 404 is a wonderful spot. Make a reservation though as it's crowded. There is a whole outdoor seating section that looked nice as well.
