Holder Owners Open New Gastropub Le 409 in Old Montreal | Eater Montreal

"I found Le 409 to be a more casual complement to the Holders' Old Montreal Euro-brasserie next door on McGill Street, operating as an all-rounder bar with a light menu of upscale bar food and a daytime coffee service (opening as early as 8 a.m. on weekdays). Owned by Maurice and Paul Holder with Haralabos Sugleris, it serves mostly house cocktails — for example a “saketini” (sake, yuzu, and peach bitters) and a pisco cocktail with elderflower liqueur and matcha — generally priced around $12, alongside a beer list drawing on brewers like Beau’s and Trou de Diable and a varied wine list. Food leans toward snacks and smaller plates — there’s a veggie burger but the menu mostly departs from standard pub fare with items ranging from dal and a lamb curry to jambalaya, chicken satay, fattoush salad, cod accras, and dumplings, with most options under $10 and a maximum price of $14. The space mixes noir-ish, Havana-inspired cocktail-club styling with some Bollywood elements in a restrained, stylish way. It is open at 409 McGill Street from 5 p.m. nightly now, with regular hours beginning September 17 (8 a.m.–1 a.m. Monday–Friday; 5 p.m.–1 a.m. Saturday–Sunday)." - Tim Forster

WOW, such good and tasty Indian cuisine. It’s a little on the more expensive side but that goes with the area as well, near the old port. The place is neat, clean and big enough to host big groups. They also had some nice wine and drink selection. The service was also great for a full packed place, waiter was attentive and checking to make sure we had everything. Food didn’t take too long to arrive either and they give you a tasty little appetizer before your meal. It is definitely worth a visit, you can go out of your way and try this place if you have the budget. It’s worth a taste and visit. I will go again and taste different options from the menu 🤤😋😋

Google
The reviews for this place are super mixed, so if you’re looking for an honest review, here it is! They have tons of vegetarian options, and any meat dishes were offered in fish, lamb or chicken! The butter chicken- Was smooth, spiced perfectly and offered a good amount of protein for the price. I personally like a little bit more spice, but was good for the others at my table who couldn’t handle spice! A “died down” version of butter chicken that still packs a punch. Chicken Tikka Masala- Decadent, well seasoned curry. There was a good amount of chicken for its price, this wasn’t a crowd favourite but still a good dish the table somewhat enjoyed. Though there was nothing wrong with it exactly, just when compared to other tikka masala’s it doesn’t stand out. Other dishes such as Aloo Gobi (cauliflower and potato curry), the chicken tikka, and all of the appetizers were good and frankly very delicious, but nothing Noteable to write about them. The naan and rice were both good, steamy and fluffy, you can’t go wrong with them! The rice had many components like peas and extra seasonings, which was super tasty, but we just wish a regular white rice option was clearly made available. The garlic naan was delicious, and i recommend it over the regular! - Only complaint i have about the rice and naan is that they both must be ordered as side dishes, upping the cost. The desserts were fine, the flan cake was tasty but maybe if we return we probably won’t have it again. Though it was tasty, had an eggy smooth taste, only order it if you’re a big flan lover. The donuts were good, but 6$ for 2 tiny donut balls smaller than Timbits was a little much. The staff was kind, service was FAST, and the atmosphere of this place is incredible, you couldn’t even guess it was an Indian place. -Overall, this restaurant is great for those new to Indian food. If you’re looking for authentic, spicy Indian cuisine, this wouldn’t be the place i recommend. But- that doesn’t mean we left dissatisfied. None of the food we had here was disappointing, all of it was tasty and nobody left hungry. Would i come here again?- Yeah, but i would only really order the butter chicken and garlic naan, avoid any other dish I’ve already tried, and explore the menu a bit more. This place is great to come to 1-2 times, perhaps with family or co workers, but anymore i would have to pass.

Google
My favourite Indian food in the city! It's a full-on sit-down restaurant, which is reflected in the prices, but very reasonable given the great ambiance and amazing quality and taste of the food and drinks. Service is friendly and quick, food is presented beautifully and it's in a very pleasant accessible location by the old city. Also the butter chicken poutine is INCREDIBLE (and the lamb korma is a personal fav) Have gone back many times, and will be back for many more!

Google
One of the best restaurants i have been to. Me and my good friend love to explore different cuisines and places to eat. le 409 was by far one of the most delicious. food was amazingly flavourful and we just couldn’t stop eating it! waiters were always there to help when needed and there was always some good music playing. we also got a cocktail and a cocktail (also wowed by the drinks) definitely recommend ans definitely going to become a regular!

Google
Came here for a late dinner with friends and right when we walked through the doors I was in awe of the atmosphere, cozy yet classy. The setup of the restaurant is really welcoming and the service was incredible too. Our waitress Emilie was charismatic and her service was amazing, helped us decide what we wanted. She recommended the buttered chicken poutine and it was SO GOOD ! Definitely coming back soon for another poutine and pitcher of sangria.

Google
One of my favourite resto/bars ever. Indian food combined with great beers, fantastic service (super nice waiters/waitresses) and nice cocktails! The atmosphere is especially lovely!

Google
Ate here last night and I understand why the reviews are so divided. The food was cooked amazing. The tandoori vegetables and paneer are outstanding. The quality of the ingredients is better than any Indian place I have ever eaten at before. However, it is not strongly spiced and aromatic as I normally prefer. I wouldnt bring friends from India here, but if you approach this place like a fusion/influenced by India place it is great. Butter chicken, naan, and the tandoori veg were outstanding. Cocktails and service were great, and I would definitely be back. If you're newer to Indian food or have people in your party that aren't too food adventurous bring them here. (Maybe there is a way to spice things up, but they didnt offer it to us)

Lamb is great Garlic naan isn't a naan bread. It's tasteless. Mango Lassi is pretty good. Service excellent Atmosphere very good.

Yelp
The flat cracker like bread as an appetizer was very delicious with the sweet tomato and mint dressing, wow! Also, Fantastic Tikka Marsala, Rice & Nan and the Cosmopolitan was super delicious & refreshing! Service was super friendly and amazing as well. Was seated immediately in the main dining room which was elegant and relaxing. The atmosphere was warm and not too loud but comfortable. Light pistachio ice cream for dessert was perfect too! Had mint tea with dessert, great way to end a truly flavor filled dinner. Benjamin was a very helpful in my selection based on my tastes so I appreciated his excellent service. If you are searching for a very tasty dinner in a wonderful setting I highly recommend this restaurant when in Montreal! Very nice size servings and priced reasonably for the high quality flavors!

Yelp
I was in town for business and came by for dinner. We had a sharing set with too many dishes that I cannot remember. But I do remember that the food was delicious and the service was excellent - patient and kind and on top of everything. Definitely worth it.

Yelp
We had dinner here our first night in town and were grateful they could squeeze us in without a reservation on a Saturday night as they were very busy. I'd highly recommend making a reservation if possible. They have a great cocktail menu with specialty selections and classic cocktails. I went with Desi Rose which was a great rye based cocktail and wasn't too sweet even with the grenadine. We shared the chana samosas which were delicious and unique. I loved the concept of cutting up samosas and serving them topped with seasoned chickpeas. The contrast in texture was really an excellent component to the dish. For my entree I had the aloo gobi which was beautifully seasoned with fresh, complex spices. We shared an order of rice and garlic naan. One order of each was plenty for our group of three. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is fun and modern. We loved the decor and artwork!

Yelp
We are seated at a round two top. Big dining area around the bar. I like the copper textured round tables. Ordered Dahl soup, chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, Tardka Dahl, 1 basmati rice (none comes with your meal, rather odd) and 1 garlic naan bread. C$79.33 I can't say we have ever been to an Indian restaurant where you have to order and pay for the rice at all. The complimentary cracker, papadum is quite salty on its own. I am not loving the onion salsa or the yogurt chia dip so much. Their complimentary items are not for me. 1 order of Naan is literally 1 piece of naan for the two of us. Best to assume everything is a la carte. The basmati rice is flavored and topped with crispy onions and peas. It's ok. I do feel for the 3 dishes we ordered, at least one rice should have come with it as an accompaniment. The garlic naan is good, chewy and warm. The lentil soup isn't so good, it's quite runny, as water and doesn't have much flavor to me. The Tardka Dahl is good. The Chana masala is good as well. The chicken tikka masala is the best part of the meal. Rich and super flavorful profile, sauce is fantastic with the bread or the rice. Huge chunks of chicken and not a lot in the dish. I could easily have eaten this on my own. Service was good.

Yelp
Loved this place. They took us without a reservation. We sat at the bar and had a flavorful dinner with great cocktails. The bar staff was amazing. I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Great spot with nice seating and large windows! Loved the spicy Lamb Vindaloo with Garlic naan! It was amazing and spiced to a perfect level of heat! It was delicious as was their old fashioned, nice and strong! Great place if you want to get some Punjabi flavor!
google avatar

Yelp
Got the butter chicken and some drinks. Great overall taste and the service was great also. Restaurant felt small in a good way. Did not feel like a large chain restaurant. I do recommend if you are in the area for sure!

Yelp
My colleagues and I came here for dinner recently and really enjoyed ourselves. Such yummy food and helpful staff. We ate so much! Chicken Tikka, Samosas, Biryani, Saag Paneer, Naan, Raita, Rice. Everything was so tasty. Loved the chicken. Tender with good flavor. Appetizers were great. Love all the sides. Service was great too. Food is easily shared. Good drinks and full bar too.

John G.

Yelp
The restaurant is very nice, staff are very nice and put a lot of effort and energy in keeping diners pleased. Bar service was great, the bartender himself brought all the drinks to the table. I was impressed with everyone and everything and can say that if you enjoy a strong "French " influence with your Indian food this is a "must do" food experience! Having said that, I confess I am a strictly a traditional Indian restaurant/ food lover. For that reason alone I give it 3 stars. Staff, restaurant, bar = 5 stars!

Beau E.

Yelp
Interesting interior. Decent view from the inside. The food was very decent but nothing special, its just average indian food. The service was poor overall, we waited a while to hear anything from servers especially to pay the bill. Overall, i def would not come back or reccomend this spot to friends. The food was not bad but it was not great either.

Yelp
I've had Indian food in some exotic places, like Nairobi, but this was a wonderful experience. Every dish tasted authentic even the deconstructed samosa, highly recommend! I like it a little spicy and they accommodated, if you have a high scoville tolerance try the vindaloo but be prepared. The decor is so appropriate, Bollywood could take notes, its a very nicely appointed restaurant. The service was great, friendly and professional, the bartender nailed my Tom Collins. If you're looking for a delicious and unique but still authentic Indian dining experience, this is the place. *****

Yelp
I have been to this location multiple times and I have enjoyed it every single time. They offer great selection of Indian fusion cuisine with friendly service. They also offer good variety of cocktails. They offer Raita, onions with tomato sauce served with cumin papadum as a welcome. We ordered Chana Samosa and Bhajee d'Oignons for appetizers and Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Lamb Biryani for entrée. I enjoyed every bite of our food and my favorite was Lamb Korma; it has a sweet taste that I don't normally go for, but was very delicious.

Yelp
Dined her tonight. Great service, nice atmosphere, big bar and clean facilities. We ordered the Channa Samosas, Madras Shrimp, Butter shrimp, Saag Paneer, and Curry chicken. The Samosas were very good. Different than what I am used to in the US. The Madras Shrimp were spicy and a good portion but flavor was not as tasty or seasoned like other Indian food I have had. Butter shrimp was nicely cooked and had a decent taste but was a bit too sweet. Saag paneer was nicely cooked and had a flavorful balance. Curry chicken dish was not flavorful and needed more spice and seasoning. It did not imbue an Indian flavor. The reviews were great which surprised my experience.

Yelp
My husband & I had a lovely dining experience here on a Saturday evening in early April. I made a last minute reservation for 8:30pm. Upon arrival, we had a warm welcome from the host who gave us a lovely table by the window. The restaurant is cool, hip, & chic with a ton of windows and a large bar in the center. Our waiter was professional & courteous. The food came out quickly with our 2 appetizers and 3 mains spaced out perfectly. All dishes were absolutely flavorful and delicious and our specialty cocktails were amazing, as well. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Overall great experience we had on NYE! We wanted a resto with a regular menu and since we'd been meaning to try this place out, it was the perfect timing. We arrived at 6pm with reservations and was greeted by multiple staff and were promptly seated. Our server was pleasant and helpful with the recommendations. We started with the mango lassi drink which was sweet and creamy, definitely worth a try. I had the raspberry lemonade mocktail which was a nice thirst quencher. We ordered the deconstructed chickpea samosas and they were ok. I was hoping for some zing from a sweet and sour tamarind sauce but the taste was imperceptible. We did really enjoy the complimentary plate of light crispy papadums served with a side of pickled onions which were very tasty. As for the mains, they come in little "pails" which at first glance might seem like a lot but the bottom 3cm of the pail is solid so the food is only on the top 2/3rd of the pail. Note that rice and naans are sold separately which makes the dishes a little bit pricey since you'll need to add about $6-7 for rice/naan each. However, you do have the option of sharing with your tablemates. Surprisingly, I preferred the regular naan over the garlic ones as they weren't as garlicky as I'd hoped they'd be. We had all ordered lamb dishes and all the ones with sauces had a dozen juicy, tender chunks of lamb. The lamb curry was pretty solid and quite spicy. The lamb roganjosh was flavorful but had a hint of lambyness to it. The lamb tikka tandoori was great but obviously drier compared with the stews since it was roasted. As for the best dish of the night, it had to be the lamb korma! It was cooked perfectly with zero lamb aftertaste, creamy and delicately sweet. Our dessert was Gulab Jamoon which were served warm but I found the texture inside a bit mushy. We ordered some chai tea to wash it all down. We all appreciated this Indian bistro. Their service was incredibly fast and friendly despite being full that evening. The dishes are a bit pricy for the quantity but the quality was quite good. We enjoyed the cozy ambiance which was perfect for a double date. I could totally eat their lamb korma all day, every day while sipping on their mango lassi.

Martin J.

Yelp
Great ambiance and very attentive staff. The waitress could not have been more charming. Beautiful lighting - this is an attractive restaurant. The food was a bit meh! In particular the sauce for the butter chicken was too thin. More problematic was the sheer amount of sugar that was added to the dish. In lieu of rich and creamy, the dish was thin and very sweet. It cheapened the dish sadly. The lamb dish - I forget which one - was also too sweet. To reiterate, sophisticated ambiance and lovely staff - a bit weak on the food.
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
Love the ambience. Colorful, intimate and warmth describe this great little urban eatery. Love the staff, with smiles and the perfect amount t of keen attention. Love love love the food. Everything we had was perfectly done and full of flavor. The samosa chat was a standout as was the chicken korma. A great complement of beverages and the perfect amount table attention made this a fun and tasty experience. This would be the type of place we would bring friends to often if we lived in Montreal. Would absolutely return on our next trip.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm in Old Montreal all the time and had no idea this Indian option existed until today.. we loved it! The greenery creates a beautiful atmosphere, the food is very good and the service level also above par. Makes a nice change if you're looking for something different from the usual bistro type fare in the area. Oh and they make a great vodka martini!
google avatar

Yelp
Great service to match the delicious meal. Nice quaint and pleasant ambiance. Will definitely recommend and visit again.

Yelp
This was the best Indian restaurant I've ever eaten at, and I've eaten at many. Good atmosphere and food. Why is it called 409? Seems kike the name could do better to imply what it is, but maybe it has some significance.

Isaac B.

Yelp
Good food, though you should be sure about how big the portions are because they vary. Nice relaxed classy ambiance. Great service. One of the greatest mixed drinks I've ever had in 20+ years of adulthood.

Maya O.

Yelp
Delish indian food and great service! Super accommodating with our allergies. Drinks were great as well and the place was beautiful.
google avatar

SM G.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food and drinks but the service was problematic. I suspect they forgot our food order as it took over an hour. They did compensate us for this with some free drinks. I didn't get the sense that other tables had this issue.
google avatar

GGollyMolly W.

Yelp
Very delicious Indian meal for a table of 4. The food was good sized for sharing. 3 adults shared 3 dishes and we ordered 2 sides of rice and one naan. Staff were lovely and helpful. Good to ask questions about food allergy. Nice locale and cool inside. We enjoyed our time there very much. Recommend it highly. You will enjoy your meal.

Yelp
as an indian, ive been to a lot of indian restaurants, and im bummed that this is in montreal and im in the uk. no other place had food like this, all we got was the garlic naan and chicken tikka, and we got it in two out of the three days we were here. 100% recommend. customer service amazing as well, always came to top up your water.

Yelp
5 Star Rating for Food, Service and Ambience !!! Quantity was not huge but it's a really an upscale restaurant located in a great place of downtown. 2-3 minutes of walking distance from St Paul, marriott owned hotel in downtown. Convenient and awesome food ! Ordered chana samosa, fried chicken for appetizers, Rogan Josh, Palak paneer and tandoori roti for the main meal. Superb food! Didn't like the carrot halwa - it was not a typical real carrot red Punjabi style but more like a bowl of condensed milk in light pink color with couple shaved pieces of baby carrot. Otherwise great meal, excellent service and high profile and fancy restaurant.
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
Very nice ambiance, upscale and elegant. Bit of skimpy beer selection. Good food menu that is extensive and broad enough for a variety of Indian food tastes. Service was good. Roti was a winner, but the butter chicken was more of a buttery tomato sauce than a butter sauce. Chicken was good, though. Beware the chicken appetizer heat, it was a mild three stars so if you don't want heat order something else. Overall pretty tasty but not a home run.

Yelp
Visiting from out of the country - Came in with a party of 5 and it was pretty packed, so we all sat at the bar. Three of us ordered chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, and lamb curry - these came out in ~30 minutes. Our other two friends ordered vindaloo and eggplant and they came out much later than our food, we had already finished our food and they still waited. Food was tasty, but this long of a wait warrants a 2 star review. Also, the curries don't even come with rice - what the heck?! Ridiculous. The bartender was very nice and said that he did not know why the vindaloo and eggplant took so long to come out and checked on it for us. Do better, especially with prices like the ones you have! I would rather go to an Indian buffet of lower quality just to know I can actually get SOME food.

Yelp
I like to try Indian food wherever we go on vacation. In Miami, we have great restaurants. This one ranks up top. Salmon, chicken lamb! Everything was awesome. Beautiful decoration with perfect music. Professional staff. Great experience.
google avatar

Pranav K.

Yelp
Came here with kiddo in tow and the staff were extremely courteous despite us dressed as tourists ;) Orders were taken quickly and the food arrived very fast. Which is very surprising for a packed restaurant so hats off to the kitchen. We also tried the pims cocktail and it was delicious. The only thing they did not do fast enough was to take my card for the payment once we were all done ;) Would eat here again!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the butter chicken poutine and was blown away. everything on the menu looks good. Service was quick and helpful. They had us sit for a bit while our to-go order was being prepared. Ambiance looks really fun. I think I will try to eat there next time.

Yelp
I come to Montreal regularly for work and have been eyeing this place... so glad I finally came!! It's such a laid back vibe, awesome decor and great bar! I was the Lone Ranger for bar seating (which I didn't mind terribly) but the rest of the dining space was mostly full. Now let's skip to the good part... FOOD. I've been to India so I am EXTREMELY critical and particular, but 409 did not disappoint! I ordered the butter chicken, rice and naan which were all flavorful, fresh and cooked to perfection. They totally nailed the richness of the butter chicken. I wish I could eat it regularly! I also love that they serve papadam as a starter. (Something I couldn't eat in India). Wish I had more room in my belly (and my pants) to fit all of the deliciousness!! Top it all off with impeccable service- friendly and attentive... I'll be back at the 409 the next time I'm in town and you bet I can't wait to share with my colleagues!

Yelp
This restaurant is gorgeous. I love that they have a few mocktails on the menu, makes a non-drinker like me feel included in the fun drink offerings. The service is very nice and overall such a fantastic vibe. The food itself is quite good, though the Butter Chicken Poutine was only just okay, I'd say. I do recommended the Biriyani, it was spicier than expected, but very good!

Susan S.

Yelp
An unexpected and wonderful experience! Just on the edge of Old Montreal - so it seemed less touristy, more of an after work crowd. Nice cocktails, very comfortable seating ( seriously buttery leather seats!) and excellent Indian food. My daughter wanted to try poutine while we were in Montreal - theirs is with butter chicken. Really excellent! We also had the Chana samosa starter, Mulligatawny soup (ordered extra spicy - and it was!!) and the vegetarian korma. Loved it all. Highly recommend it. Wish I'd taken pictures of the beautiful food.
google avatar

Anjali R.

Yelp
Wowww so good! This place is definitely upscale but the food wasn't too pricey and very delicious. The chicken was some of the best we had ever had, I would go back just for that. The only complaint I have is that the dishes don't come with rice automatically which isn't standard for any Indian restaurant I've been to, and runs an extra charge. Overall a cool vibe and really good food!

Yelp
Our experience was outstanding! We were staying near by and needed to find something close to our hotel. We started with a Le Twist D'Oliver a tequila drink that I plan to try at home, so good. We asked our waiter to select 3 dishes for 2 of us to share and all were excellent! They were busy, but our service was great. The tables are a little close, but cool vibe.

Glitter D.

Yelp
Great Ambiance. We enjoyed our drinks and food. The paneer entrees could have used a little bit of more paneer. But Dal and rice were on point. Service was slow towards the end , but nothing beyond a minor annoyance for us. We would definitely go there again!
google avatar

Malvika D.

Yelp
Nice ambience. Unfriendly/impersonal service. We ordered: Vegetarian thali - not a real thali. Includes a shubzi, rice, channa, and naan. Three thalis only come with two rathais. Veg Naanwich - good, but only comes with paneer, lettuce, and tomato. Could be a "fuller" wrap. Club Naanwich - do not recommend. The butter chicken is flavorless and doesn't come with enough gravy. Very dry and overall meh. Gulab jamun - presentation was lacking but it was warm and delicious. Masala fries were excellent. Naan was chewy. Cocktails were fairly good.

Alan D.

Yelp
We were a group of 5 for a birthday celebration over lunch on a weekday. Had made a reservation in advance but table was only set when I arrived. Wait Staff weren't very versed on the menu so were probably new. Had finished my thali when the naans arrived despite a few reminders. The Dhal was rather salty.

Yelp
Wahoo! Our home cooked dinner plans didn't materialize tonight so I was sent out in the cold to grab some takeout. I had seen Le 409 from the outside many times and even researched it a little but had never stopped in before this visit. It was a little odd tonight because a sign on the door was limiting service to takeout due to the COVID-19 virus. The decor is really cool with yellow walls, wood and leather accents, and some Art Deco inspired sconces and artifacts. Also there is a large bar in the center of the space that looks quite inviting. It was closed tonight so I didn't get the full experience while waiting. I ordered butter chicken, shrimp with coconut curry (spicy!) some rice and naan to go. Wow, that's some of the best Indian I've had, which is really saying something as I've been to India at least 20 times over the years. The curry was pretty spicy for the average pallet (just the way I like it)! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, the chicken a little over done (hey if you're going to make a mistake with chicken I would rather err on the overcooked side). The sauces and naan were also outstanding. That was an excellent meal and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Great spot in the Old Port for a big or small group to grab drinks and Indian tapas. For drinks, I ordered mango lassi mixed with rum which was excellent with a shot of rum which was a perfect combo mixed together. It's not on the menu but do give it a try ;-) We ordered a variety of tapas: vegetable curry, lamb curry, naan, butter chicken and several other dishes. The dessert, "les gulabs" was absolutely heavenly and I strongly recommend it. Service was great. I will definitely come back soon.

Tracy T.

Yelp
The ambience is five stars. Beautiful interior, cool, eclectic vibe. Really neat place. Food was tasty, small portions, big price. Ordered the chicken biryani which was seasoned well , but dry. The butter chicken was OK. Chunks of white meat were dry and sparse , more veggies than meat...And for the price, that should not be. I was surprised that the entrées did not come with rice. Everything was additional, so I ordered the basmati rice, and nan -. Again OK, I have definitely had better. The mango lassi drinks were delicious, tasty and fulfilling. And the service , was impeccable.

Yelp
We came here after seeing the Alegria Circus show. What a wonderful way to finish our evening! As soon as we got in, we were greeted by a warm welcoming (probably the manager - super nice gentleman and involved). He gave us a nice spot for six and with a smile too! The service was very warm and professional. I absolutely adored our waitress that is originally from Saint-Hyacinthe (tu sais qui tu es :) ) Now onto more serious matters. The food. Everything we ordered was delicious! I was first worried that it wouldn't be spicy enough but I was wrong. Now I don't really think this restaurant should be compared to other Indian restaurants in Park-Ex. It's just not the same. The service, the decor, the quality of the food are nothing like Park-Ex. It's better. Yes. It's more expensive then the other Indian restaurants in Park Extension. I'm guessing the rent in the Old Port of Montreal is higher lol! The food here is very VERY good and the wine list is great as well. A lot to choose from at an affordable price. We got a bottle of Chianti that was paired very well with out meal for 59$. We ordered a soup, an appetizer and two mains. We were full and we had some food left to take home for a late night snack. So the portions were just fine! Will I come back if I'm around the area? Heck ya!

Yelp
We loved our meal at Le 409! We walked in off the street and immediately loved the atmosphere. We were greeted and seated by a friendly staff member. Our waitress was so helpful, attentive and a delight! The food looked, smelled and tasted delicious. We had a variety of dishes, three courses and we loved all of them. Great for sharing. Beautiful dishes to serve the food also. Nice alcohol drinks options too. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went to 409 yesterday for dinner and we really enjoyed it. Great food, beautiful decor and well executed. Our waiter was fantastic, very professional and suggested great wine pairing. It's great to see an Indian restaurant elevated. Keep up the great work team!

Yelp
Food is fair and good but nothing amazing, however, the samosa was super yummy and different from anything I ever tasted. Very nice atmosphere.
