Le 7 Restaurant Panoramique

"As the name implies, this restaurant is located on the seventh floor of the Cité du Vin, commanding a matchless view over the Garonne River and historic Bordeaux. The food is pleasantly up - to - date and well - prepared, accompanied by a fine choice of wines by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

This place is amazing. The view is great, the food tastes marvellous, service is attentive and caring. We went three times throughout the years and I'm still amazed that the quality remains the same as it was when it opened. They now offer an interesting lunch deal as well which makes it more accessible than before. We definitely recommend trying it if you are in Bordeaux.

We were probably the only diners not drinking wine, but we had an absolutely perfect lunch. Such good value and presented artistically. You don't need to visit the museum... just go up to the 7th floor in the lift. Beautiful view, too.

I gave the restaurant and service one star only because I couldn’t give it zero. We all know places that rely solely on their location and view to coast by on mediocrity, but this is much, much worse. Le 7 feels like they are actively choosing to single-handedly solve the problem of over-tourism by providing not just indifferent service, but active hostility and loathing. And that’s to say nothing of the food which is an all-out insult to French gastronomy. There does not seem to be an actual kitchen, but pre-prepares meals that are warmed up in a microwave. How else could you explain having our group of six send multiple plates back barely touched and not a sole noticing or bothering to ask what was wrong. I have had better prepared Asparagus on an airline. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. You can find a good view in many other places, and in Bordeaux you can find a great meal in a myriad of places. But in Le 7 you will only find regret.

Fabulous place to have a banquet with friends and colleagues, service was excellent, the view from the restaurant is sensational, food are average in general.

This was a wonderful lunch with a panoramic view at the top of the Cite du Vin. I had chicken with a wine sauce that one could only taste in France. So rich and deliscious. Served with the chicken was an accompaniment of fresh tasting green peas in a pea soup. Beautifully presented. Desert was a strawberry and mascarpone tart wrapped in a very thin meringue shell . Well crafted and unique. The servers were polite and very pleasant. I felt the lunch was a very good value considering the service and amazing food.

Extremely disappointing experience - food was poor and service was even worse. Our mains took 45 minutes to arrive and three of the fish dishes were extremely undercooked, the centre was raw like sashimi and even slightly slimy. We informed the waiter and without even inspecting the fish he proceeded to tell us that this is how the fish is supposed to be cooked - wtf? This waiter was terrible, felt like he was implying that we don’t know how to eat fish lol but we’ve been to many high end restaurants and I can tell you this fish was RAW. It would be acceptable if it was sashimi or tataki but this was supposed to be a cooked fillet of fish. Anyway we sent it back to the kitchen and the chef came out to apologise and admitted the fish was undercooked so he cooked new serves for us and waived the charges. Appreciated this apology and compensation (hence the two stars instead of one star), but still overall a very poor experience. The other dishes we ordered were also not great, my mum’s ratatouille was served cold and I didn’t enjoy the lamb. For the price and atmosphere we expect a lot better.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very modern. The way we viewed the wine selection was fantastic as we could filter by region, colour, grape etc. The food was amazing and perfectly presented. I did feel as though service was slow and we had empty plates and glasses left in front of us for a long time.

Google
Extremely high prices for the quality and amount of food served. The dishes seemed to be pre prepared and didn't have a great taste. The octopus for starters was chewy and the pork had to much fat in it. Overall the food just isn't good enough for the place and price. The view is great and the staff was very polite.

Yelp
The pastry chef is fantastic!! The ambiance reminded me of eating at The Eiffel Tour with a view from the seventh floor of the River. The wine list was of course very nice. The service cook have been a little more attentive but my meal was delicious and I would highly recommend lunch here if you are visiting the museum Cité du Vin.

Yelp
While visiting the lovely city of Bordeaux one of our friends had recommended to come here for great views and a chilled out moment away from the main part of the city. I had originally wanted to come to this restaurant/bar for my birthday meal but the menu did not impress me. So instead we went after viewing the exhibitions of the Citi De Vin which are located on the 3 and 4th floor. We were welcomed by a lovely host as we entered the restutant area. As we had not made reservations beforehand this did not cause any issues. We were given a table on the terrace overlooking the river and the skyline of Bordeaux. We enjoyed a cheese plater which came with bread rolls and some cold drinks. The only thing i would probably recommend is to visit in the evening as i can only imagine how beautiful the views would be with the city lit up.

Yelp
I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. We went with a party of 8, food was lackluster, uninspiring and expensive. We had to send back two of the dishes, and eventually gave up. Avoid the food, go for the views and wine if you must go. It's rare that I leave negative reviews, but hopefully this will help you avoid this expensive mistake.
