Stunning throwback to a kinder, gentler era of slower food and drink, and nicer people, Le Bateau Ivre, has a purity of intention, that dates back to the culinary revolution of the 60's and 70's, and holds forth with a simple, almost rustic menu, especially in the breakfast department, where they really shine.
Their recipe for Hollandaise sauce is the stuff of local legend, still executed with tasteful mastery, and the way they put it all together in their eggs Benedict with home fries, and a small mixed fruit side, is exactly what the weary soul, lost in a sea of foodie choices, desperately needs.
This is real french home food. And I am in love with the place, and the people.
BONUS:
The decor and surroundings are to die for, and LBI is THE place for an intimate date.
And if all of that wasn't enough, they are incredibly economical. (So please leave them a nice tip, and help keep this historic place open!)
Treat yourself!
