Le Bistrot du Grand Cerf

We ate in this beautifully decorated, warm and cosy restaurant in the heart of Lyons on a Sunday evening. Menu Découverte, entrée-plat-desert; the food was classic French, very well prepared with beautiful, fresh and seasonal ingredients. Generous portions at a fair price, we enjoyed everything. Only room for improvement I can think of was that the cheese was served too cold. Service was friendly and attentive, in French and English. I think maybe some of the other reviewers should remember that just because someone has a foreign accent or makes an occasional grammar error, doesn't mean they don't speak French... Highly recommend this special bistrot for a laid back meal in an exceptional location.

Beautiful place. We had a lovely welcome from the friendly staff. The dining chairs are comfortable, with plenty of space between the tables. The food was magnificent. Every course was a real treat. The whole experience made for a lovely evening. Will definitely visit again.

Really good food and fantastic outside area at the back of the restaurant. A peaceful atmosphere but still with a buzz. I had the home made smoke salmon for starters which was just perfect (not too salty), very fresh and a generous portion. For mains, had the sea bass which was served with pak choi chargrilled. Amazing! Loved my cheese board at the end. Well worth the visit.

we didnt have a reservation and they were very accommodating to quickly set up a table for us even though it looked quite busy. But me and my partner ordered the faux fillet and it was way too chewy. for this price range of 39€ for 2 dishes we definitely were expecting something more tender. our parents had the ris de veau and they enjoyed it very much. we should have ordered that instead.

We had a reservation for 2:00pm made on internet and we arrived on time. Although the (apparently moody) chef declined to receive us. The staff simply justified this as “the chef does whatever he wants” = this restaurant does not care about customers neither due reservations. What a bad and disappointing feeling from a Michelin-star chef.
