The 18 Best Restaurants in Cannes, France | Eater

"Situated just steps from Cannes’s lively Marché Forville, the city’s covered food market, chef Guillaume Arragon’s bistro has won a large following of local regulars for its market-driven seasonal menu. Try the fish soup, which is made with a locally landed catch of the day, or the succulent rack of Sisteron lamb with a black-olive crust. [$$$]" - Lane Nieset

Tucked away from the bustling streets of Cannes, this hidden gem is a true standout. The food was absolutely exceptional—beautifully crafted, full of flavor, and easily comparable to a high-end fine dining experience. What really impressed us was the chef’s creative use of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the dishes. The unexpected yet perfectly balanced combinations added a unique depth to each course, showcasing both innovation and a refined palate. Every bite felt thoughtful, seasonal, and artfully composed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, made even better by the genuinely friendly and attentive staff who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this spot is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable, elevated dining experience in Cannes. A true culinary discovery we’ll definitely return to.

The dessert was presented nicely, but the taste was not exceptional. The staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Experience was underwhelming, service was fine, the waiter is attentive and certainly 'sells' the overall menu. The starter was overcooked and too tough to cut, the fruits fresh but proportionally out of synch. The mains pasta was very small portion but well presented, right balance of cream and truffle with mushroom - delicious. The seabream portion was also very small and the vegetables cold on arrival. Bread served was dry without butter/oil or accompaniments. Disappointed overall given the price point.

All four of us in our party really enjoyed our dining experience. The food was excellent and the presentation added to the enjoyment. We also enjoyed the choice of music and the decorations and lighting of the restaurant. We highly recommend it for people looking for fine food in a nice atmosphere at a reasonable price

Our dinner at Bistrot Gourmand was absolutely amazing! Every dish was an explosion of flavors! Each dish was carefully made and brought to us with a beautiful presentation! Every dish was its own masterpiece. Our compliments to the chef! Our pairing of wine was equally amazing! The service was incredible! Our waiter was not only very friendly but also very professional and knowledgeable! We loved our time at Le Bistrot Gourmand . It was a lovely and romantic evening. Thank You!

We were looking forward to Le Bistrot Gourmand based on reviews and the menu. To our surprise we were treated so horrible by the ONLY gentleman that was seating, waiting on the guests, serving the drinks and food that it ruined our entire dinner from the time we were seated to the end of our meal. I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a restaurant in all my travels. It was so upsetting that before leaving I pulled him aside and told him we were excited to come to this restaurant, but the way you treated us throughout the entire meal was so rude and disrespectful that it completely ruined our entire visit. I am not sure if he even cared about what I told him. So sad!!!!

We loved our meal here! I ordered the three course meal with the wine pairing and it was perfect! Food, ambience and service was all top notch. Highly recommend!

Excellent refined restaurant. Quality products and original tastes, but within typical French cooking. In the middle of the summer chaos of Cannes, the Bustrot is an island of peace totally dedicated to good food and great wine. Hearty and enthusiastic reception followed by personal attention by the owner, with good description of each of the plates.

Yelp
Ever so often, a restaurant can truly be called Crème de la Crème, and for our travel through Paris and Nice this past week, Bistrot Gourmand is truly the best restaurant we've had in France. Tucked in a relatively quiet street (for Nice anyways), Bistrot Gourmand can easily be missed unless you happen to notice 1,100+ highly rated reviews that this gem of a restaurant has garnered. But if you do make it here, you will be treated to not only a culinary euphoria, but also a delightful, memorable service courtesy of the staff led by the Maestro himself, the manager Alex. To start, we noticed that the ambience and the music curated by Alex are different from all the other restaurants we've been to in Paris, Nice, and Monaco. There was an intimate feel that is countered by his fun eclectic musical taste that somehow works together with Alex's charm and bravado to entertain us and other tables (the other two parties were also on first name basis with Alex, as they were returning patrons of the restaurant). After having our orders taken, we were then surprised by our lovely waitress with an off-the-menu presentation of an amuse bouche to whet our appetite for what's to come. It was refreshing and playful. If there was a slight blemish with our meal, it was the Gaspacho de Courgettes (courgette gazpacho with soft-boiled eggs, basil hollandaise, and crispy onion). For my taste, it was a little too polite in flavor and needed the side of housemade brown bread with its slight saltiness to assist it. It was still good, but I would like just a bit more. The good news is that from here on everything it was smooth sailing across our Côte d'Azur of an experience. The wine of choice was Château Malbec Bordeaux, a fantastic red wine with a delicious initial taste and smooth satisfying finish. It was versatile and complimented everyone's dishes. And speaking of dishes, I had the exquisite Linguines à La Crème et Truffe d'été (Linguine with cream and truffle and). Don't let the short description fool you because this dish was heavenly, the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes just you can further savor the delicious flavor and balance of the pasta, the buttery truffle, and surprisingly light Crème sauce that was not heavy on the oil. I simply couldn't get enough with every bite and this is without a doubt my favorite dish from my time in France! If you enjoy beef tartare, you'll definitely enjoy the Tartare de Boeuf, as "prepared with a knife, potatoes with Provencal herbs." Our lovely waitress took tableside center stage as she mixed various ingredients from raw egg and minced raw beef to herbs and Worchister sauce with ease and precision to create a delicious, savory dish full of bold flavors that you can distinctly taste each individual flavor. Finally, the main event arrived upon us as Maestro Alex rolled out his cart to create our dessert, the Crépes Suzette, façon Bistrot Gourmand. This was worth the ticket going in, as the spectacle elevated our dining experience to another level. Pulsed by a mix of a lively music that started with the Rocky theme, Alex really put on a show with panache and enthralling commitment. It was truly a fun spectacle that is best experienced in person. The best part was that the Crépe Suzette was truly magical in its taste. There was sweetness and slight nuttines that paired well together. Since Tour de France 2024 is only a few days away from its Stage 21 finish at Nice, I can confidently say that Bistrot Gourmand is THE summit finish, the culinary highlight of our travels in France. It was the best way we could've ended this last week in France, and it is now the standard that we will judge our foodie experience going forward as we embark into Italy for the next 2 weeks. Florence and Rome have a lot to live of up to now! In the mean time, for any future visits back to Nice, we will definitely dedicate at least one or two dining experience back at Bristot Gourmand. Chapeau Alex and the staff, and hats off to the chef!

Yelp
I came here just to try the beef tartare and I was not disappointed! Honestly it's one of the best beef tartare I've ever had. It was full of flavor and I loved the thin crispy fries. It was delicious and price was decent. Great customer service and nice ambiance as well! Highly recommended

Yelp
I booked a reservation with Le Bistrot Gourmand as it was close to where we were staying in Nice. The restaurant is inviting as was the outside café area. The waiter was nice and accommodating and set us up at an outside table. They had a great wine list to accompany the garden like setting. We ordered the octopus and ravioli as appetizers. Both were delicious. The prawn ravioli was homemade and fresh. The octopus was cooked perfectly. We ordered the lamb chops and the tagliatelle with truffle summer cream. The lamb was succulent and well seasoned. The truffle on the tagliatelle was aggressive but not overwhelming. The portions were nice as well. For dessert we had the Soufflé with Grand Marnier. The presentation was authentic. We enjoyed everything from the wait staff, the food and the atmosphere.

Yelp
First off, the service is amazing, the owner is a gem, and the manager was so nice and very entertaining. The food was good and the wine was delicious. Here's my only recommendation, If you're looking for a melt in your mouth piece of beef don't order the 100$ beef rib for two. The cut wasn't the best if you're a beef connoisseur. I'm still giving 5 stars because every thing else was absolutely amazing and i just don't recommend that particular dish.

Yelp
Great food, wine selection, service and ambience. Recommended in Michelin guide. The ribeye steaks were well seasoned and prepared. Mushroom ravioli was full of umami and light. White fish well prepared and deboned with seasonal vegetables. Wine list well curated. Desserts were superb. All In all a terrific experience, highly recommend.

Yelp
We had a late lunch in this very popular local eatery. I won't lie, by this time we had experienced so many excellent restaurants across France our expectations are way beyond unreasonable... Ambiance-wise, everything was perfect here- very nice and cozy and all that. The service was equally sufficient. I just didn't get a great impression of the food. The biggest turn-off for me was the risotto. Granted, the previous day I had experienced the best risotto I'd ever had- period. So it's no surprise that this version was a huge let-down. In any case, feel free to ignore this review and try this place anyway.

Yelp
Have you ever been blown away by a dinner? It has just happened to me. The place is relatively small, maybe 6-8 tables total. Mostly for locals, as their menu isn't translated to English. My French is, hm..., worse than my Spanish. And I don't even know a word in Spanish, seniores. Greeted by the owner & chef (it's the same person), who translated the entire menu. Fast, delicious, inexpensive. Well, it's "Cannes inexpensive", so be ready to spend at least €50 on dinner & wine. Inside decor is kinda romantic, but appropriate for a business meeting.

Yelp
Fabulous. Small. Elegant. Fresh. A true taste of Southern France. The chef is charming and the menu changes weekly. Menu is available in English too. Amazing wine machine that serves each glass at the optimal temperature with perfect aeration. It got very busy by 1:00 so go by 12:30. Would definitely recommend

Yelp
Our lunch here in Cannes was one of the best of our trip. A small, popular place, we were lucky to get a table right away (call in advance!). The mushroom ravioli with a truffle cream was so astounding that we immediately ordered a second one. Squash blossoms are popular on the Cote d'Azur but these were the best of the many we tried. The beef tartare with thin, crunchy fries was wonderful and the very unique risotto dish with asparagus and truffle was just as good. If I return to Cannes this will be my first stop, I don't see how you could go wrong here.

Yelp
This is by far the best place to eat in the world. Okay that is a bit dramatic maybe but still i would have my last meal on death row delivered from this place. Bistro Gourmand you are what i dream of in my hungry and cranky moment. I've had the ceviche, the zuccini flowers, the steak tartaren was one of the best i've had so far and the creme brulee. Me and my partner allways talk about coming back to Cannes but what we really mean is coming back to Bistro Gourmand. Also very friendly serving staff especially the anthony bourdain looking garcon( i dont know his name sorry). Very helpfull and not arrogant at all!

Arthur Y.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Came here one time and I fell in love with the place. Highly recommended if you're in Cannes come try!!

Yelp
Great restaurant with good services and really tasty food! The price and quality of the food is extremely good, we had the gourmet menu (3 courses) and a different wine selected with each course and paid 53 eur per person. The quality of the dishes was way better than what we have seen at other restaurants in Cannes!
