"Behind a simple exterior is this bistro with the soul of a true bouchon lyonnais (counter, cheek - to - jowl dining). That said, the chef does not limit himself to tradition and adorns his dishes with more modern ideas. Nice selection of wines from producers." - Michelin Inspector

Google
I really had a good dinner at this small cozy restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, I mean the bread was even warm and soft when they were served! The price was reasonable and the staff was friendly. I couldn’t fault a thing! Really spent a great night at this restaurant.

Google
Cosy place, it’s a bit packed but not an issue. Staff is friendly and swift. We went for the menu which was a good deal. The food was good, tasty and came quick. The experience could be a bit more lengthened as the dishes came in rapid succession.

Google
Must-visit restaurant in Caen. Remarkable food: looks fantastic and tastes out of this world. Cozy atmosphere and hospitable service. Absolutely must to visit!

Google
Absolutely wonderful. Lovely french cuisine. Small but perfect menu that offered a superb choice. The food was absolutely delicious and we couldn't fault a thing. Great selection of wine. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it if you would like to try out a great, classic local bistro.

Google
Time 20.50, they close at 21.30, we were 4 and they told us there was no space, without even looking at us. And it was full of free tables (picture below), not even a little effort or explanation

Google
Just the right size. Magic comes from the diminutive kitchen. Hand written menus on display boards... simple but great wine list. She helped pair for each course. A great culinary experience. Our favorite spot in Caen!

Google
Great atmosphere, busy, but service still attentive. Menu looked good, french cuisine with a twist. Only 4xstars as steaks could have been better, but the taste of the sauces was great

Yelp
In town from USA. Came on a recommendation, brought a few friends. Cute place, STUNNING food. Had escargot, sea bass, and "Ile floltante" and I was blown away. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Truly excellent small restaurant. The staff is friendly and the hostess/waitress/owner speaks fluent english. You have a choice of either the 35 euro 4 course meal or the 24 euro 3. We tried both and all of the dishes we had were delicious. However, i thought the cassolette d'escargot really shined. From all the meals that I had in France the last week, these two are the best and worth the money I spent.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this little place while traveling to Normandy. What a find. It is tiny so not good for a large group. The menu is on a chalk board and our waitress, who I assume was also the owner, was gracious and tried to explain everything to us. The food was amazing! There were 3 of us and every single item we had was divine! It was not overpriced and even included wine.

Yelp
We ate here last night and had a lovely time. The hostess and server were extremely friendly and helpful and made for an enjoyable experience. The food was unique and tasty too served in a quaint and lively bistro.

Yelp
Summary: Great French food, very reasonable prices, friendly service. Came here after finding it on TripAdvisor. Cute place w/ indoor/outdoor seating, and a location a block from the castle. In addition to a la carte, they have set three-course menus for €19 and €28. I got the €19 one. Ordered beef carpaccio, sweet/sour pork (I couldn't read the name of the dish, but this is how the waiter described it), and fruits w/ creme for dessert. Food was fantastic. The beef carpaccio came w/ a hard cheese (parm?), foie gras, and a small salad on top. The pork came as two types of pork, pan-fried and braised, w/ flavorful sauces. The dessert was pretty simple, just macerated berries w/ mint cream. Only caveat is that I am not an expert in French food, so can't speak to how authentic it was (but given that there were plenty of seemingly-happy French people around me, I'm assuming it must have been ok). Service was super-friendly, especially given that I don't speak any French. Definitely recommend coming here.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious food and cozy atmosphere. Staff and owners were friendly and restaurant was clean and neat.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and read menu to us in English multiple times because we speak little French. Every dish was finely crafted and delicious. Service was attentive and fast. Food came out quickly. Very cute restaurant. Highly recommend. Wish I had time to go twice and try more. It's a Michelin awarded restaurant too!

Yelp
Our family of four had delicious dining experience here. Our French is horrible, but the staff was friendly and patient in explaining what we didn't understand. Through the two set menus, we shared with each other just about everything on the menu. Food was so creative, ambitious... just amazing.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant, wonderful hostess, delicious food!! During an incredible D-Day tour conducted by Essential History Expeditions ( http://www.historyexp.com/ ) Brian and Sheryl of EHE highly recommended we enjoy dinner at Le Bouchon. A great recommendation based upon their actual experience with this fine restaurant! The restaurant is small and inviting. The hostess (owner perhaps?) was gracious and warm. Bilingual, she guided us in our selections that culminated in a delicious evening's experience. Service was first class and cost was reasonable. Highly recommend.

Yelp
It's so casual and unassuming and the menu is written on two giant chalkboards. I understood about half of what was on the menu and we got the three course prix fixe during lunch. We went with our son and they were great with him too, even had a high chair. I had the foie gras appetizer, pan fried dora fish, and then some strawberry tower with a crispy chocolate top. My husband had a salad, 1/2 duck and I think gelato for dessert. They made a whitefish pan fried in browned butter with mashed potatoes for my almost 2 year old. He ate pretty much everything on his plate! Everything was so delicious I am still thinking about it 2 weeks later. I wish I had taken a picture of the strawberry dessert because it was SO PRETTY and even more DELICIOUS! The staff were great as well. Couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a rainy afternoon in Caen.

Yelp
We had a delicious dinner and the owner was very helpful with explaining the menu. We had a three course meal for 4 of us and a bottle of wine for around $125. The staff was also very nice and welcoming. Such a fabulous experience!

Yelp
Just had the most delightful time, quaint quarters allow you to become friends with diners. Had delicious 4 course meal, paired with spot on wine!. Met a wonderful couple from Belgium who were fantastic diner companions. And felt relaxed and rejuvenated after a long travel day, thanks.

Yelp
This was probably our best dining experience in France. We made reservations the day of (thankfully, because there were a lot of people turned away while we were there). For 112 euros, the two of us had four courses plus two excellent bottles of wine. The food was superb and the service was fantastic. The servers spoke excellent English, but let me practice my French as well. We got the escargot, fois gras, fish, veil kidney, and two desserts, plus two espressos and plenty of wine. It was all incredible and we would gladly return.

Yelp
Followed the advice of previous reviewers and had a truly wonderful meal. The place is small but cozy and is truly authentic French. Corrine, the owner, is remarkable and very helpful to non French speaking guests. She is a most unique person and is a great reflection of the spirit of the place. Our meals and drinks were promptly served, the presentations were excellent and the four of us had a unique and memorable dining experience. The pear desert was to die for. Don't miss if you are in Caen.

Yelp
Service was very good, especially given that we didn't speak French. They were very friendly and accommodating. The food was over-priced for the taste, but still good. Perhaps my expectations were too high given that it was Michelin rated. I've had better Michelin rated food. Still, a good place to eat. I left very full. Even skipped the cheese course because I was so full.
