"Le Bouclier d’Or Le Bouclier d’Or is superbly located in the center of Strasbourg’s historic district, La Petit France. Just steps from all the major sights, the renovated mansion offers an eclectic setting, rich with antiques but also with modern conveniences like air-conditioning (if spacious bathrooms are a must, this is the place to stay). Tucked away from the main roads, guests stay in one of 22 quiet rooms, each uniquely decorated—and some with views of the cathedral spires. Much appreciated after a long day of sightseeing, the on-site L’Écrin du Bien-Être Spa offers a range of massages and facials to help travelers relax and rejuvenate."

I am traveling to learn more about Strasbourg, find good restaurants, and hotels for future trips with clients. During my two-night stay at Hôtel Le Bouclier d'Or, I was truly impressed.||The hotel is perfectly central, yet located on a side street, making it quiet and peaceful. The rooms are fantastic; I stayed at the top floor with a wonderful view over the rooftops. The staff was friendly and accommodating throughout my stay, which really enhanced my experience.||A big plus was the small, beautiful spa in the lovely basement that you can book for private use. I also took the opportunity to have a facial treatment that was absolutely magical!||Thank you for this time, I will definitely be back!

This was our favorite hotel on our 2024 trip to Belgium and France. Great staff and room, cozy bar and lounge area, plus a terrific location in Petite France. Easy walking distance to most major attractions (10-minute walk to cathedral) and restaurants. Area is magical at night. Loved Strasbourg!

Beautiful hotel, just the right balance of being quiet but next to everything. The staff were friendly & professional without being overbearing. Our room was clean upon arrival and CGleaned throughout our stay. Only suggestion would be to bring your own shampoo & conditioner as this wasn’t provided in the room - there is a universal shower gel in the shower which can be used as a shampoo but no conditioner which I found a bit odd but not enough to make a complaint to reception about it. Also no iron or ironing board which wasn’t needed by us but maybe something to be aware of.

The hotel was everything we were expecting. Very helpful staff ( especially the barman!) The building is in a perfect position for exploring the Christmas markets in Petit France. |The hotel has beautiful decor, including our bedroom. The ensuite bedroom was lovely with a walk-in shower. |We did not have breakfast as we prefer to explore around for this.|The hotel is opening a restaurant in 2025, so that will be interesting.||

This stay was the first for my sister and me in Strasbourg, and we are so glad to have chosen Le Bouclier d'Or Hotel for our home base in exploring the Christmas Markets of Alsace. First of all, it is absolutely charming--full of Alsatian architectural charm and tasteful appointments. The bar and breakfast areas are beautiful rooms in which to relax, but the highlight was our stunning bedroom, which was really a suite. We had originally anticipated a third sister joining us for this trip, so we reserved the big room at the top (#20) with a huge king bed and a separate single bed, as well as two bathrooms. It also has a spacious sitting area with a pull-out sofa and two large upholstered chairs. I have never stayed in such a huge hotel room in France! It was graced with dark wood beams along the sloping side wall, which added to the old-world charm of the room. (And the shower in the bigger bathroom was fantastic!) The hotel's situation in the Petite France area was lovely and quiet. Everyone from the front desk personnel to the bartender to the breakfast staff were warm and welcoming. While we had no time to explore the spa offerings, I cannot recommend the hotel proper more highly. Well done, Le Bouclier d'Or Hotel! I hope to able to stay again sometime.

Google
The rooms are so beautiful, but the bar and lounge are dead/ closed, with no music , the patio in bland, no flowers or appeal, you have to reserve the spa area and it’s an extra charge, not a lot of, but usually, this is just included in nicer hotels. I also valeted , which is a nice option, but when I checked the were pushy as to when I need the car the next morning. I feel like the over all energy is boring and “blah” the location is great though!

Location can not be faulted. It's perfect walking distance to everything you wish to see as a tourist/visitor and petite France is so beautiful. Service: a lot left to be desired and not in line with the price paid per night for our stay. Breakfast is ridiculously expensive 25 euros a head for adults and 15 euros a head for. 1.5 year old and a 3 year old. Was also charged €26 extra for a bottle of still water and 1 breakfast tea bag with a teaspoon of milk which we were told was on the house when we asked to have some tea and water replenished in our second and final night of our stay. Hotel itself - it's ok- lacking in atmosphere and has an odd toilet poo smell throughout the bottom floor. The carpet and interior decor needs cleaning/upgrading. Room- big and spacious but lacking in the basics and they are charging through the nose for it (see tea comment above) no fridge, no amenities you would expect for the price of the hotel. Would I advise anyone else to stay here - absolutely not. There are many many better value options with friendlier staff around petit France location. Definitely not luxury, nor value for money.

This hotel is in the perfect location right next to Petite France. It is so convenient for walking to all the sights and to all the recommended restaurants. The hotel itself is full of character and very comfortable. It has everything that you could need, including an outdoor bar area which looked very appealing but sadly the weather was a bit cold for sitting outdoors. Staff members were wonderful and very friendly with advice about activities and restaurants.

Yelp
Le Bouclier d'Or We had the pleasure of staying at the Le Bouclier d'Or for five days in mid-June. The hotel is located in the heart of the old city, in Petit France. The hotel fits in the neighborhood with traditional decorations both in the common areas and bedrooms. The bathrooms have all been upgraded and modernized. The hotel has a spa in the basement, that looked very nice. The buffet breakfast offered by the hotel is excellent. They also have a full bar that is very comfortable. Overall, an excellent property.

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful room at Le Bouclier d'Or under the eaves overlooking church spires and city roofs. Ours was one of two very quiet rooms on the top floor. Olivier welcomed us and took very good care of us throughout our stay. Hotel is in La Petite France, the best place to be in Strasbourg. Our room was well appointed with a large, great bathroom. We would suggest taking a taxi and not attempting to drive to the hotel. Highly recommended!

Yelp
What a beautiful hotel! We fell so lucky to have found this gem in beautiful Strasbourg, France. The location was fantastic, within walking distance of all of the local attractions, but not in the middle of all of the tourist chaos. I would classify it as a 5-star, boutique hotel. It is family owned, and the pride of ownership shines through. We were met outside the hotel (there is only space to drop off your baggage) and the owners son (I believe) graciously welcomed us and took our things up to our room. When he opened the door to our room (#11), I literally gasped, it was so beautiful. The hotel is in a very old building, and they've taken great care in maintaining the old world charm with beautiful antique furniture and period artwork. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed every minute. They have a lovely breakfast in the morning that you can either eat in their breakfast room, parlor, or outdoors, weather permitting. We left on a Sunday, so we're able to enjoy their fabulous brunch before we left. Just loved this place. Some side notes: there is no parking nearby. They will take your car and park it off site, returning it when you leave. Everything is in walking distance, as I mentioned above, so you won't need it. One other important note... the roads are closed and impassable on the way into the city. When you come to a street with the iron guard up in the middle, simply press the button and talk into the speaker, telling the city which hotel you ate checking into, and they will lower the bar for you so you can get to your destination!
