"A favorite of Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse, the Café de la Fontaine is the little brother of Michelin-starred l’Hostellerie Jérôme. The rustic bistro is the perfect place for a light lunch or afternoon drinks while watching the world go by from the center of La Turbie."

The staff at Le Café de la Fontaine are genuinely friendly and welcoming - you feel at home the moment you walk through the door. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The food is exactly what you'd hope for, delicious and comforting. The dishes are prepared with care and warm both your heart and your stomach. A place worth remembering for a pleasant meal in a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Tasty traditional French bistro food in a nice restaurant named after a famous French writer of fables, pictures of which adorn the walls. I had a yummy leek and ham tart to start, followed by a nice roast chicken and our desserts, apricot clafoutis and peach tart, were absolutely delicious. Was reasonably good value too - 100 euros for two of us (three courses each and one glass of wine) and the portions were generous.

Look at recent reviews. Extremely slow service, ignoring you for a while; the food is nothing special and somewhat lacked flavor. In case this is relevant to you, they also don't speak English. Dessert was decent. Avoid! All the good reviews are from long ago.

Had the best meal of a long trip at Le Cafe de la Fontaine. The restaurant was recommended by our VRBO host, who was a French chef, and it did not disappoint. Everyone in our party loved their meal. I had a ravioli with mushroom sauce and Tiramisu that I will be dreaming about for years. The ambiance is perfect - unassuming while also perfectly fitting the image of a French cafe. The customers were mostly locals - which tells you it's a good. The value for the money was excellent. And the service was fabulous. Highly recommend!!

Quite simply, I was invited to a small restaurant by the road. So fresh, so ordinary that it's not normal. The restaurant was filled to the brim with people. The smell of the dishes hung in the air. The simplicity of the dishes and their presentation are simply Michelle's stars...🌟🌟🌟⭐✨👌👌👌👌👌

Wow, what an amazing restaurant! They improvised a perfect vegan dish for me on the spot, and my partner enjoyed an excellent fish meal. The place is small. family-like atmosphere.

Spotted this place as we were exploring LaTurbie. Popped in for dinner. In a nutshell, service was great, Menu has a limited choice but this is not a bad thing. The steak was excellent as was the poached pear and caramel ice cream. I would definitely return. 2 steak dinners, desert, beer and wine about 80 to 90 euros.

Yelp
I am not reviewing the Michelin * restaurant. We went there September 6. First of all, there was no charm. I got food poisoning from the mushrooms I ate. I started to throw up and stopped my husband and myself from eating my second course. They charged me for the entire, uneaten meal. I threw up 3x on the roadside going back to the hotel, and 3 more times in the hotel. I had a doctor the next day. H said maybe it was only one mushroom, but it made me very sick & staff was no helo. The hotel called the restaurant the next day, and they said no one else was sick. I don;t care- I WAS VERY SICK FROM MUSHROOMS AT THIS RESTAURANT.

Yelp
Having arrived later in the evening at our stunning B&B, Philippe the proprietor of Domaine Pins-Paul, suggested La Turbie as a simple, closer than Eze and less of a headache, alternative to getting a late meal. His suggestion of Cafe de la Fontaine was so offhanded, there is no way we could have been in store for this ultimately Provencal, charming, and simple restaurant producing unparalleled food at the price point. The menu is written nowhere else besides a few chalk boards, and the rotating selections are fantastic. Do not miss your opportunity to dine here while exploring the Cote D'azur. Whether in Eze, Monte Carlo, Nice, Cannes.... it's worth the drive to the unassuming and decidedly simpler lifestyle of La Turbie. My wife wasn't incredibly hungry, so she got a simple salad for her meal, and moved on to the shortbread with strawberries for dessert. I had one of the most simple and delicious starter salads I have had in my entire life: Une Salade avec du monde! =) Salade avec snowpeas, proscuitto, onion/tomate basil remoulade, riccota, teeny melted brie, & champagne vinaigrette. There may have been a bit of spinach, but I think it was just so simple i am adding to it in my head, and it surely needed nothing else. It was superb. This salad was precisely why we were in France, and why we often dodged the Michelin stars for a simpler, more accessible meal. We shared an "entrecôte" steak (a really good cut of beef) - it was grilled to perfection. Perfect salting, and precisely at the correct time prior to cooking it. It was en pointe, cooked MR, and just perfect... the salt became the perfect crust glaze, while all the juices and flavor was perfectly trapped inside. This is not some perfect cut in a perfect restaurant... it's just like if the local master griller was using cow from his backyard. I often don't order steak or salmon out, as I am sure I could do it better.... this is one of those times you learn lessons to trust and live a little. The meat was slaughtered perfectly, it was prepped and stored perfectly, it was cooked perfectly, etc. Fantastic. The fries were obviously homemade, seasoned and cooked perfectly. *This* restaurant *is* Provence. If you are tied up at 1 and 2 stars your whole trip, and haven't had the chance to experience what a real, salt of the earth, Provencal meal is all about, I suggest you do it here. If you are in Lourmarin, La Recreation is a good choice too.... but I suggest the drive out of Luberon and head to the Cote D'azur! We followed through with coffee and digestif. It wasn't only fabulous, it was a delightful enough experience that we rolled onward towards the evening... energy renewed, and minds alert and curious. Now the more lyrical, unrelated part of the review...... We ended with a quick jaunt to Monte Carlo, rolling down the hill and speeding around the Grand Prix course that had just been laid out. We sauntered among billions of dollars of mega-super-luxury-ohwow yachts. After a surreal journey, and an evening looking at dashing dresses split up to the labia & high heeled shoes twisting violently on cobblestone, I realized it can be difficult telling when the the digestif ends and aperitif begins... the night turns to morning, romance flowing. We're still not part of the 1%, and happily nowhere near the 50% - but wherever we are, we will play along for the time being.

Yelp
I might have stumbled into the best bistro in France...classic Provencal cuisine, ,served in a casual, friendly café. Everything we had was so flavorful and perfect. We extended our stay in Eze just to visit la Fontaine one more time. It was pure joy ...The second happiest place on earth!

Yelp
UNBELIEVABLE! Incredible food! Atmosphere is rustic and quaint. Went on a field trip with 5th graders this year and hit a lot of French restaurants in La Turbie. The cheese and wine alone are worth going. I had the bone in sole and my friend had a pasta dish I couldn't recall due to my intense focus on the taste and presentation of my food. Of course the desert was unreal as well. Small place can easily be overlooked... unless you are looking for it!
