Super cute brunch place in Old Town. The space is beautiful, and they have a little grocery section in front with local goods from Quebec.

Fantastic breakfast. Definitely try the maple latte, very delicious. Insanely busy on Sat/Sun, but stopped here on a Tuesday morning and it was so quiet.

Google
Service was amazing!! Our service was the sweetest of the whole trip. The atmosphere was lively but not loud. It was modern yet cozy. The food was pretty good, just a little salty.

Google
Everything was awesome, the atmosphere, the service, and the food. The only issue is the food is on the pricier side for the size. If I could add another 0.5 star I would.

Fortunately, it still tastes the same as I remember. The moment I took a bite, the unchanging deliciousness was a warm and reassuring presence in this unpredictable era.(May 2025) In the restaurant, the sense of touch, vision, taste, and smell are all labeled with elegance. There is both a sense of formal ritual and a psychological comfort zone. The food tastes great! The dish "canton" is great, with large pieces of meat filling the bottom of the pot, which is absolutely full. The duck Benedict is a little sweet because of the caramelized red onions. If you are not used to it, be mindful! Reservations are not available on weekends, you can only queue up. Arrive before 11 am and there will be a seat. Possibly queue up after that.(2024)

I will visit this place whenever I come to Montreal! For the first time, I had the same breakfast menu, designed and served so differently! Each dish was thoughtfully curated, served hot and cooked to perfection. And I rarely get talked into buying drinks, but Stephanie was the most engagingand enthusiastic hostess I met to date. We did reach $100 in our bill for two, including tip though, yet the experience was worth it. Just hope they fix the loose screws in all chairs. Feels risky.

Google
Incredible brunch with impeccable service made this one of the best meals I’ve had in Montreal! Had the Nordique which was amazing in both flavours and presentation. Everything was perfectly cooked and I was very satisfied with my choice along with the festive gingerbread latte that came with a cute little gingerbread dude!

Google
The Lac Brome (duck confit eggs benedict) was delicious. The duck and the orange hollandaise was the perfevt pairing. The yolks were perfectly runny. I also got the breakfast martini which had a nice cinnamon and maple flavour to it. Almost reminded me of an egg nog. The service was also super friendly and fast. Our server was always smiling. There are a lot of fancy places in Old Montreal. This one felt friendly and cozy, yet maintained its upscale nature.

Google
This is one of my favourite place for brunch! There’s staff that we got to know over the years and who we are so happy to see again every time Seriously such a great menu and ambiance And you can buy delicious treats on your way out too! Can’t wait for the terasse to open

Yelp
Small market, cafe spot. The lunch menus starts at 11:30am, a few brunch options are available. Ordered a green tea, oat milk latte, granola, yogurt and berries, chicken teriyaki on quinoa salad, Tex Mex chicken wrap. C$70.31 / $50.19 The oat milk latte is good. The Sencha green tea is in a small pot and it's still rather weak. Tea options needs some work. The Tex Mex wrap is good, the avocado makes any wrap better. The wrap was grilled up and packed. The granola and yogurt with blueberries was just okay, some granola pieces were quite hard to chew on. Not special. The granola here could use some quality checks. The chicken teriyaki isn't bad, light teriyaki seasoning. A healthy dose of quinoa bed salad. Felt like a light meal after consumption. Service was so-so, not super attentive or friendly.

Yelp
Wonderful mocha and hot chocolate. Got the orange mocha one day and it tasted like a high quality bite of a fine creamy dark orange chocolate bar. Got the white hot chocolate another day and while the flavor profile didn't fully align with my tastes, it was clearly high quality and my partner loved it (I also did still enjoy it). It it would be perfect for someone who likes goat milk, since it had something like that slightly grassy earthy flavor. We also enjoyed the duck confit eggs benedict, the outdoor cafe atmosphere, and the attentive service. Cute shop inside with some great picks (I enjoy Qantu but have a more limited selection in the states!).

Yelp
A great menu to choose from with classics like Eggs Benedict or to an iron skillet with scrambled eggs, meat, potatoes, baked beans, and more. Didn't have that because it was huge but smelled awesome. Quaint store/market as you enter and then led into the dining room which is well laid out. Space between tables unique for the area. Breathing room galore. Server was very attentive even after the place filled up behind us. Food presentation was inviting and the quality was great. Would highly recommend and certain I'll return.

Yelp
What a cute cafe in montreal! I forgot what the name I got, but it was an eggs benedict with smoked salmon. It sounded so good all three of my friends and i got it and it was so good. Our waitress was very sweet and kind and gave us recommendations. I got the orange chocolate coffee and although i asked for it iced, it did come out hot, but nonetheless it was still really good hot. Would recommend coming!

Yelp
Yummy brunch spot in downtown Montreal! Service is good and the restaurant is very cute. Seemed like a lot of locals were eating here. Golden latte was excellent (had it with oat milk because they were out of coconut milk), not sweet but had a nutty quality. Nordique was very filling, I felt the price was ok considering the amount of food and the location.

Yelp
Delightful restaurant with a deli and coffee take away section. The communal tables have plexiglass for safety. The food was delicious- especially the simple salad dressing. And goat cheese in eggs is genius. Great location close enough to walk to metro and notre dame. I enjoyed seeing the kitchen staff because it looked like the enjoyed their job. The wait staff have a sink in sight so you can see they wash their hands. Bathrooms were clean too.

Yelp
We first visited Le Cartet for brunch a year ago and couldn't wait to go back on our next trip to Montréal. Both times, everyone in our party raved about the food. Best place we've been to for brunch in North America. Yes... I'm serious.

Yelp
Back in Montreal and grateful that Le Cartet is close to my hotel. Arrived at the Montreal airport late on a Saturday evening and got to hotel around 10pm. Could not find an open restaurant within walking distance and the hotel kitchen is closed for renovations so had to be content with chips and almonds and a banana from the day's travel. Therefore, I was delighted to be able to once again order the egg/asparagus scramble - this time, adding a side of crispy bacon. The cortado was incorrect proportions - should be far less milk (not a short latte) - but was still tasty. The egg scramble was just as good as my previous visit, and the bacon was crispy. Their country bread is toasted just right. One thing they could do to improve the meal, however, is use quality butter: the tiny packaged butter cups are almost flavorless. Service was very nice once again, and I look forward to more visits this week.

Yelp
This perfect cafe was exactly what my girlfriend and I were looking for. The food was amazing, they might have the worlds best Bloody Mary, the service was great, and the ambiance felt more local than tourist (although as a tourist you can never be sure). I had the duck sandwich, which was recommended by the waiter and was delicious. It came on a big Texas toast type bread, which was grilled, and the smoked duck was incredibly flavorful.

Yelp
Le Cartet is one of our favorite brunch spots in Montreal. We try to visit every time we are in town, and at this point have been at least 5 times. The food is delicious, including excellent benedicts and breakfast sandwiches. We have had consistently great service, and servers were very patient and understanding our last two visits when our party included a small child. Along with food and great coffee, Le Cartet also has to-go items for sale, including local beers and ciders. A great place all around.

Yelp
Helpful with dietary allergy. Good strong coffee. Dishes were solid. Love the interior. Nice and bright and clean. Recommend again. I would try a grilled cheese next time. My avocado toast was good but a little too much avocado. It was swimming in avocado. But good. Tasty. I had my fill.

George J.

Yelp
After landing in Montreal for the first time, we needed some food! I looked on Yelp and found Le Cartet so we took an Uber (25 min) and was not disappointed. The coffee was amazing but the food was outstanding. Highly recommended to all.

Yelp
very nice spot to have brunch. good ambience food and service at a reasonable price

Yelp
Went there for breakfast. It was really good and tasty. The food came out fast. The waitress was very nice. It looked small but had plenty of room for about 20 tables. We had the avocado toast, pancakes and the croissant with ham and eggs. All were awesome.

Yelp

Yelp
Loved this breakfast place in Montreal! Neat, clean and modern! The friendliest servers so early in the morning too! Food was fresh and came to our table so quickly! Our coffees were delicious. We ordered the Sante and the nordique. I can't say enough for how good it was. Such a nice surprise! A friend recommend this spot and I am so glad she did!!! And.... I must say the washroom was spot on. I have a little OCD so it was nice to see this up to par.
google avatar

Marcos L.

Yelp
Excellent service. Coffee drinks on point. I ordered the ham, cheese and egg and she ordered the poached eggs w/ duck confit. Both were chef's kiss.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place- definitely gives you that French bistro vibe, which is exactly what you want when searching for brunch in Montreal! We had a party of 5 on a Saturday morning and despite there being a line outside, we only had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated, which was reasonable. I cannot overemphasize how friendly the staff was as well. We were going to order dessert at the same time as our meal, and the waitress suggested we hold off because we would probably be full, and boy was she right! The food was OUTSTANDING! I ordered the Toscan, which is eggs Benedict...and it wound up being the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. We also had the croissant egg, cheese, and scrambled eggs....and again even though it is such a simple meal, something about it was so delicious. The croissant itself was the perfect combo of crispy and soft. Would 100% recommend you come here if you are in this part of town.

Yelp
Had LAC BROME 24.75$ (Nov 2022) Basically duck Benedict. Benedictine eggs served on English muffin, orange hollandaise sauce, duck confit and onion compote with red wine, spinach, roasted potatoes, greens. The vibe inside is great. The menu is simple yet diverse. This is the perfect place for breakfast or brunch. No regrets. * I came at 1pm on a Sunday. They had run out of smoked salmon. So the NORDIQUE 25.00$ (Nov 2022) Poached eggs, smoked salmon, sesame bagel, cream cheese with pesto, capers, red onion, Spicy mayonnaise with smoked paprika, roasted potatoes, greens Was OFF the menu.

Yelp
This restaurant, though it took a while to navigate to form our hotel, was worth the walk and more! We walked in and we're greeted warmly and got a cozy seat under beautiful decor and lights. The staff were wonderful, greeting us in both French and English, and chose a wonderful seat for us to dine. They did have only French menus, but using Google translate images helped. I ordered the Coupe Santé and the Dark hot chocolate, which were both of excellent quality and served in less than five minutes! We expected to be there for at least an hour, but we got our food almost instantly and was delectable. The dark hot chocolate was a bit strong and dark for my taste, but helped balance with the light and sweet Coupe Santé. I'd recommend this place for those for want a quick filling breakfast or a cozy place to relax and have a coffee.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
I went to this place for breakfast, never thought it would be this good! I ordered a Coupe Santé, the granola and fruits were amazing but I didn't really like the yogurt, it was a bit too sour for me. I also had a white hot chocolate, and it tasted really good! My favourite was the granola from the Coupe Santé, I couldn't stop eating it! However, there was a fly that kept bugging me.

Yelp
I've always seen this place is super popular for the past couple of years so wanted to see what all the hype is about. It's a solid brunch place and does get very busy very early so make sure you come in early especially on a weekend. The service was very fast and prompt despite the larger number of patrons so that was great! I got the avocado toast with a poached egg which had a ton of sautéed vegetables on it. This was really nice since it added more flavour and was surprisingly very filling. It wasn't just a three ingredient item like some brunch places serve ;). Their poached egg was a great consistency. My partner got the smoked salmon eggs Benedict which he said was quite good.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food, nothing was left to our dissatisfaction. Would recommend to anyone! Yelp never disappoints, and neither did le cartet.
google avatar

Esteban Y.

Yelp
Very nice place, incredible service and awesome food. Forgot to take a picture of the side bacon, but it deserves some praise. It's not on the menu, but you can also order some viennoiserie (we had a chocolatine and a chocolatine aux amandes which are always my favorites). Benedictine eggs were delicious. I'm definitely coming back here.

Dan W.

Yelp
Excellent food and a waitperson that went above and beyond. The street dining made it all the better.
google avatar

Hala S.

Yelp
The most outstanding thing about this place is the good service the waitress was kind knowledgeable and prompt. The avocado toast was a heaping portion and definitely fills you up, I will say it needed a bit acidity from lemons and maybe some pickled onion in top to elevate the flavor. My husband had the poached egg on a bagel over smoked salmon with capers spicy Mayo and other veggies (I can't remember the name) he said he loved it. we also had drinks from the coffee bar. I had the coffee of the day which was a maple creme based latte it was phenomenal. My husband said the americanos were rich and perfect.

Matt G.

Yelp
Great local and lively breakfast. Very airy and light decor. Everything very fresh, ripe fruit, terrific bread, a delicious scrambled eggs with goat cheese and tiny asparagus. Fresh squeezed orange juice. And perfect service. It's a treat.

Melissa V.

Yelp
Delicious food! Pleasant service and vibe. Would recommend the Lac Brome, duck confit Benedict. Hot chocolate was also delicious.

Yelp
First of all, the duck meats taste tender , the overall atmosphere were great. I especially enjoy the inside decor with the great customer services.
google avatar

Yelp
Boo Boo and I had a nice long brunch here when we were in Montreal. We ordered the brunch plates Cantons and Nordique. I specifically remembered I snagged the last maple croissant. The food was tasty and substantial because we walked to the botanitcal garden afterwards. We waited for 10-15 minutes. But, its worth it. bathroom clean. CC accepted. Our waiter was very nice. I felt bad for him since he had the outside area.
google avatar

Jesse M.

Yelp
They are really good with breakfast and brunch. We ordered a few items and they where all amazing. I have no complaints about anything I had on their menu. I had the all beef and beans dish and it was so flavorful. I loved it !!! Definitely a great breakfast spot. I have no issues with this place, it was worth it. Overall score: 7.8 out of 10 Food: 8 out of 10 Service 7.5 out of 10 Vibes: 8 out of 10

Yelp
This place met our four star two dollar sign expectation. A little out of the way on McGill. The food was excellent - fresh and well prepared. The woman who waited on us was plus five commuted to us having a good meal. Gonna do it again.
google avatar

Jerry L.

Yelp
This is a huge place with plenty of seating, at first looking online I thought it was just a small place but there is so much seating and even some outdoor seating, they even have a little market in the front with some to go items and other stuff. The ambiance is nice and the staff was all very nice. The menu is simple but I think most people will be able to find something they like here. I had an egg Benedict dish with some potatoes and salad, my wife had the poached eggs with parfait, granola and fresh fruit. All the food was great, the restaurant is away from old downtown but not too far, I'd highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Mykela F.

Yelp
If you're in Montreal on a rainy day you cannot miss this spot. We stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful experience! Their squash soup will warm you up from the inside out, (I'm surprised to find myself raving about squash soup but yes- it really was that good)!! It paired excellent with their sophisticated take on the grilled cheese. I got the pork and my boyfriend got the duck, we were both raving about how delicious they were. We finished the meal with a latte Coureur des Bois, which resulted in a trip to SAW after to procure 2 bottles. The waitress was kind and attentive even to 2 English speaking tourists.

Rick S.

Yelp
Came here with daughter and grandson We arrived and no wait. Seated right away at about 1030 Gillian provided great service! We had the Nordique and the Lac Brome and grandson had scrambled eggs and asparagus All were very good and it was daughters first time having duck confit and now she is hooked! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
A delicious breakfast in old Montréal. I spent two cold mornings enjoying eggs Benedict at this location.
google avatar

Naomi T.

Yelp
First brunch in Montreal and I decided to visit Le Cartet! We came on a Friday at noon and there was no wait. The staff were friendly and food came really fast. We ordered a smoothie to share, duck confit benedict, and maple pulled pork grilled cheese. The benedict had a really good Hollandaise sauce and plenty of duck. The maple pulled pork was sweeter than I expected but still delicious on that buttery bread and the side of potato salad had a bit of dill in it and it was good as well. Portions and pricing were good and the restaurant was bigger than I thought it would be.
google avatar

Kal I.

Yelp
One of the first places we ate at while visiting Montreal. And man oh man, the very first sip of that latte was like none we've ever had. Wow. It was soooo good we had to make a stop on our way to the airport on our way home. The food was also very clean and delicious. Very fresh. Good size portions. What more could you ask for. The service was also great. Our server was very nice and friendly. He spoke English with us which we appreciated.

Yelp
Between all the searching and places coming up CLOSED for the day- and set to reopen between 5-5:30pm, Cartet was the lone survivor. I honestly didn't want anything too filling and liked Cartet's Brunch menu right away with Salads, Waffles, Croissants and such. As we were told, Cartet has changed with the times- and for the better. Place is very comfortable and cute. See it as a long space with steps leading up inside, seating along the whitewashed brick wall and middle aisle- and kitchen/prep stations to the right. Let me not forget their gourmet shop as you enter if you want to stock up on their dry Pastas, Oils, Jams, Teas (Kusmi) and Chocolates....the list goes on and on. Cartet brings in a really nice eye to simple style. This ultra trendy- yet friendly, low-key spot is almost like a full-service type shop. Both of our Brunch items and Aperol Spritz were good. Service was pleasant and price was on point. Cartet earns its place here for a cool atmosphere without it being stuffy at all. And if you want to mix with the locals- this is the place to come.
google avatar

Eugene A.

Yelp
Wonderful cafe that serves up amazing pastries and gourmet breakfast/ brunch choices. Lots of seating indoors and out. Gets busy quick so come early. Our party of four enjoyed each of the dishes we tried. While waiting, we ordered a plate of pastries, which we let our server select). The pastries were fantastic! The dishes themselves were very good, with the potatoes being my favorite.
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The textures and sauces on each plate is incredible and a perfect touch. Highly recommend going here.
google avatar

Yao W.

Yelp
Le Cartet has been on my list for quite some time, but to be frank, I must say it sadly didn't live up to the expectations! The served brunch dishes were lacking flavour and portions were small for the price. Their signature ice coffee was blend and way too much ice! However, service was quick and friendly, staff wore masks all time. 3.5 rounding it up to 4, to take into account current situation.
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
Excellent brunch, just a tad bit pricey. They have a lot of breakfast/brunch/lunch options, and all their brunches come with a mimosa which explains why the price is high. I don't like mimosas but they wouldn't let me swap for a bloody. I ended up ordering a separate drink. The service is good and the food is excellent, with some hefty portions. I had the brunch Cartet and it had a little bit of everything, a croissant ham sandwich, scrambled eggs, fruit, and salad. Their benedict is great as well. Gluten free folks...they have GF bread! Inside is super sleek and modern, with a take-away stand for coffee and pastries, but if it's nice, sit outside!
google avatar

Christine U.

Yelp
Le Cartet is great for a quick coffee/tea, a to-go meal, a fancy chocolate bar or a solid breakfast/lunch. It's a little pricey overall, but it's good quality stuff and both breakfast and lunch always leave me very full. It's not the kind of place I would eat every day, but it's nice for a once in a while treat. I also love that they have some brunch options on their lunch menu. The food is not at all boring and always comes with some kind of tasty accompaniment. The service both at the counter and in the restaurant are always top notch. Fast and very pleasant. I don't drink coffee but my coworkers sometimes come in for coffee and really like it.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Everything was phenomenal! The attention to detail was noteworthy. The menu is small, which ensures that each item is perfected. Delicious eggs Benedict, as well as a goat cheese/pesto/spinach toast with poached eggs. Earl Gray tea served with steamed milk (a small but thoughtful addition for the tea obsessed).
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
I've been here so many times over the last few years. This is one of my go to brunch spots in old port! Food and service is always reliable and prices are reasonable. They have a nice brunch menu all week (and all day long) though the weekend menu is slightly different. My favourite item on the menu is Le Nordique (smoked salmon with poached eggs, goat cheese pesto, paprika mayo served with toast, salad and the best lemon buttered potatoes). Portions are not overwhelmingly big but for brunch most people don't want to eat that much anyway so I think it's appropriate. I recently also tried Lac Brome and the ham and cheese croissant which were pretty good. They have a very large selection of to-go items always ready to go with some nice gourmet sauces and olive oils if you work in the area and need a quick snack or lunch. Overall: 5 Food: 4.5 Service: 5 Value: 4.5
google avatar

Tony Y.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast on a recommendation that this was the best brunch spot. The service is a bit slow but I'm beginning to think that's just a Canadian thing. I mean, no one moves at a New York pace after all. At first glance of the menu, I was a bit skeptical. I'm not a huge breakfast food fan as I feel like all eggs are pretty much the same. And why even bother with oatmeal or "bowls" of any sort. The scramble eggs and smoked jalapenos caught my eye as something different. I skipped the coffee and went straight for a glass of white wine. Who cares it's only 9am? Omg. These scrambled eggs were epic. They actually had flavor and were just a bit runny like they should be. Not overcooked at all. I went down for a bite and never came back up for air. Amazing.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Excellent brunch spot- open/roomy, nice atmosphere, excellent service, food was awesome (had the Nordique and coffee).
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food, service is great. The waiter is very friendly! And love the decor of the place.
