"In the pretty wine-growing village of Marlenheim, this former posthouse, now a fine dining institution, comprises a cluster of picturesque buildings set around a paved inner courtyard and a well-groomed garden. The impressively rendered cooking is both delicate and eclectic, without forgetting some of the classics that contributed to the establishment’s reputation: white asparagus from Alsace in puff pastry with a hollandaise sauce, raviole of smoked foie gras and a gutsy truffle-flavoured jus, or the great grandfather’s, Paul Wagner vol-au-vent… The epitome of tradition!" - Michelin Inspector

We spent two nights here after finding the hotel by accident and were extremely pleased with our find. Marlenheim is supposedly the gateway to the Alsace wine route and we did drive around the local and interesting area pausing for lunch at chateau du haut-Barr (recommended but book or get there before 12.15) and sampling various local wines in several of the vineyard shops. The hotel is spacious, good value and rooms more than adequate, and breakfast good. The main restaurant is expensive but superb. We ate there both nights. What’s not to like?

We had heard very positive feedback of friends so we were looking forward to a super meal. Maybe we were not lucky because the local rotarians had their annual diner that night. We took the "menu de la saison". Lobster salad with fennel. The fennel did go very well with the lobster and was quite delicious, but in contrast, the lobster lacked taste. Had it been frozen? The "sandre" from the Rhine was delicious, lots of taste with a very buttery sauce. Top! The chevreuil (roe deer) was a bit of a disillusion. While roe deer can be very tender and tasteful this was too hard and lacked taste. Probably, the meat had had no time to age. The dessert with apricots was a quite heavy cake with a few slices of apricot, which missed aroma. I had asked for the wine pairing. 3 glasses, two Riesling and a pinot noir. Of course of the Alsace, but we were just shown the bottle and did not get any further explanation. "Why this wine, what makes it special, why does it match the food?" The sommelier was there just in the beginning to take the order, but did not come back to explain. All in all quite a decent meal, but not the unforgettable experience in a star restaurant, which we had been hoping for, and which would have been in line with the price.

The first room we were offered smelled strongly as if an old dog had been housed there for a long time. We complained and got offered another room, but for 35 Euro extra.... in fact we had asked for a "traditional" room for 110 Euro, the smelly room was already more expensive and we paid 150 in the end. Breakfast not included. Breakfast was good, nice bread, excellent ham. We could press fresh orange juice. But no croissants, and that in France. The garage (at 14 euro) was not very large, but I could charge my car at no extra cost!

Uninteresting little village but original and pleasant courtyard. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom very well equipped. Gowns and slippers and original Alsacian sitting area with table and chairs. Comfortable couch in this large room.

The rooms are not huge but perfectly comfortable. It was quiet and had a small balcony overlooking a garden. The bed was comfortable and came with two pillows each! Service was helpful and extremely pleasant. We had a drink in the courtyard before heading for dinner. The food was excellent and was very plentiful indeed. There was an interesting wine list. Again service was first rate and very helpful. Breakfast was good and included eggs to order. Altogether a first rate experience on our way to Italy. I would go again.

Good place, very clean and comfortable. Would be nice to have a small fridge and I think we might be scam with parking. It seems like it’s a lot of free parking on the streets, but they didn’t tell us about it and we paid 14€ per night for parking at their garage. Breakfast also was already included in my bill (42€!!!) and I had to ask remove it, because we didn’t order it. 1 min away from hotel is amazing bakery! For 6€ you can get enough food for 2 people.

This hotel is exceptionally charming located in a very charming town near Strasbourg.||We chose this place for several factors: out of the city and in a nice village/town, high ratings for its restaurant...Michelin one star, and it offered very decent rates for the accommodations. We were exceptionally pleased in all regards Our room, actually a suite but we did not use the upstairs, was very good size including a downstairs sitting area, excellent bath and king bed. It came B&B and breakfast was very good with eggs to order. Street parking is available but we chose their garage, for a fee, since we had a brand new Mercedes rental. The restaurant was OUTSTANDING,

with an excellent restaurant (although the wine list reflects the Michelin star) and comfortable ungreedily priced accommodation. We liked this place enormously but must say the portions seemed to us gargantuan and we were glad we opted not to eat a starter as otherwise we could not have had what was a delicious dessert.
