Anthony Bourdain Dead: Global Food Celebrity Dies at 61 | Eater

"A five-star hotel in the medieval village of Kaysersberg, France, near the German border, Le Chambard was where Anthony Bourdain was staying while filming Parts Unknown with his crew and Le Bernardin chef Eric Ripert; staff reported that Bourdain and Ripert usually had breakfast and dined together, but after he skipped dinner and failed to appear for breakfast the next morning Ripert tried calling him and a receptionist went up to his room and found him hanging in the bathroom." - Eater Staff

How the World Is Paying Tribute to Anthony Bourdain | Eater

"A five‑star hotel in the medieval village of Kaysersberg near the German border where the subject was staying while filming Parts Unknown with chef Eric Ripert; staff say the two usually ate together, but after he skipped dinner one night and failed to appear for breakfast the next morning Ripert and hotel employees tried repeatedly to reach him before a receptionist went up to his room and discovered him dead. Local authorities reported no indication of third‑party involvement and prepared to release the body to the family." - Greg Morabito

Le Chambard (Kaysersberg, Grand Est) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Le Chambard doesn’t play at being local. It is local. Run by Patricia and Olivier Nasti, the hotel blends Alsatian heritage with refined hospitality, from its timbered walls to its table settings. Rooms vary in layout and mood, but all share a sense of warmth: earthy tones, artisan touches, and windows that catch the changing light over the Vosges or the village below. At the heart of it all is a culinary duo: the rustic warmth of the Winstub and the precision of Olivier Nasti’s Michelin-starred dining room. Kaysersberg may be postcard-pretty, but Le Chambard turns it into something cinematic." - Tablet Hotels

The exterior of the building belies its contemporary, high-end interior. The best hotel on our 16-day French driving excursion. Perfection from start to finish. Room 302 is a two story, two bedroom suite, absolutely lovely with views of the vineyards and medeival castle above town. We had dinner both nights in Le Winstub, and enjoyed them a great deal. There's nothing like waking up on a clear, sunny Sunday morning to the sound of church bells in the town square. Absolutely loved it here. We were sad to leave.

Came all the way here for the Michelin star food of Le Chambard, and it's totally worth it. First of all, the little town Kaysersberg itself is a beauty, your journey starts on your way here. Didn't get to stay in the hotel, but the restaurant is definitely a must of you're a fan of fine+dining. The "Green Style" eel will firstly give you a rich while refreshing flavor of the fish. And if you're here during October the White Truffle season, definitely have to ask for it to add into your crayfish, OMG, so sophisticated the taste. The Arctic Char "cooked in the beeswax", is surely phenomenal both the way they poured the 75 degree beeswax onto the raw char, also the taste of slow-cooking char, tender and flavorful, you'll love it like I do. The local game was perfectly roasted, medium rare, plus the plum and berry desert, I will come again for sure.

Lovely stay at Le Chambre Hotel! The service is excellent — staff are friendly and attentive, and the hotel feels newly renovated with very comfortable rooms. The location is perfect for hiking, cycling, and exploring Alsace. A few small things to note: no toothbrush/toothpaste, and the shampoo is a basic 3-in-1. Breakfast is limited in variety and portion size, especially if you’re expecting a full English-style meal. Still, with the relaxing spa, great service, and thoughtful touches like free water and bread on departure, it’s a wonderful weekend getaway spot!

Beautiful hotel located in the heart of a charming Alsatian village. The staff is friendly and attentive. Our room was very comfortably appointed with a pleasant terrace. The breakfasts are excellent and the fine dining restaurant of Olivier Nasti is extraordinary.

Our room was spacious and light , with beautiful furniture and materials, well designed lighting, very comfortable bed and pillows, high quality linen. What is not to like? The service was charming too and breakfast a treat: fabulous viennoiseries ( croissants and pains au chocolat) chouquettes, delicious breads, excellent jam, variety of terrine and charcuteries, creme caramel and financiers, eggs, cheese board etc. Worth staying at this hotel just for the breakfast!!

I didn't grade the room as we went only to the restaurant. It was a great experience with very good service and lots of attention from the staff. Even for our kids which was greatly appreciated. We've had the chance to have a "guided visit" of the kitchen... Very impressive. I highly recommend the place it's very nice!

This hotel is exceptional! The service from the moment we arrived was terrific. From the reception to the bellman. We loved everyone in both restaurants and both restaurants are great. It deserves 3 Michelin stars - it’s so good! Quentin in La Table and Hugo at Winstub. All of the staff were amazing. they are all very hard working and always friendly and helpful.

A nice hotel well located at the beginning of Kayserberg’s main street, which is a really beautiful historical street.|We had a Chambard room, with a balcony. We had asked for one with a terrace, however the assigned room had a very noisy aircon, so we got moved to another room with balcony. Room size is ok, pleasant that the toilet was separate from the bathroom.|Hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. |Hotel has 2 restaurants, Winestube and the 2star table d’Oliver Nasti.|We had diner in the Winestube which was excellent, did not get to try the other due to circumstances.|The reason for not giving 5 stars is the breakfast: first of all the buffet selection is not really impressive, a few local specialties like the Kugelkopf, which was too dry, and some pate’s, other wise standard things you get everywhere. And secondly the staff, in very contrast to the hotel staff, the breakfast crew was uninterested, one was even rude, constantly forgetting things, like we had to ask 3 times to get some milk they had forgotten to bring with the coffee. The boiled egg took ages and even then was almost completely raw. Not what one would expect for € 45pp.|So nice place to stay and have diner, have breakfast somewhere else.
