This classical French bistro with red benches, brass lighting fixtures and signed portraits of old French crooners has a sad, romantic, retro feel to it -- but in a good way.
Located on the corner of a quiet residential street in the tenth with big glass doors that open wide when it's warm, it's really got a prize spot in the hood.
I've been here a handful of times and the food is always great, though I have to admit that the very classical cuisine is not really my cup of tea. That said, it's an excellent option if you are looking for truly authentic French dishes (read: blanquette de veau, pave du rumsteak, saucission de Lyon aux lentils, daurade roti) with fresh ingredients at affordable prices.
My pave with pepper sauce was fantastic, and the fried potatoes which come as thinly sliced circles that are tender and luscious on the inside and crispy perfection all around are among the best in the city. The wine list is very classic as well and correctly priced. Our 30E bottle of Saint Emillion was luscious and smooth and perfect for the stick-to-your-bones meals we had ordered to warm us up on a chilly Sunday night.
Speaking of Sundays, they're open every day of the week, so if you're dying for a trad meal on most restaurants' day of rest, don't hesitate to come here.
