"Time seems to have stopped here, in this tranquil spot on the coast overlooking the Saint Laurent peninsula, which can be seen from the plush, cosy interior of this smart seaside establishment. The chef uses local Breton produce in traditional recipes, together with more high-flying creations." - Michelin Inspector

Le Château de Sable (Porspoder, Brittany) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Close to the end of the Breton peninsula, with views of the “almost-island” that is the Presqu’île Saint-Laurent, Le Château de Sable is something special: an eco-hotel, an inspired piece of architecture, a luxurious seaside escape, and a modern perspective on a timeless form of hospitality. The rooms on the garden side are handsome enough, but it’s worth ensuring you’ve got a room or a suite with a view out to sea. There’s a spa featuring massages and Ayurvedic treatments, as well as Hatha yoga; two restaurants serve the hotel, a fine brasserie and a Michelin-starred fine-dining establishment." - Tablet Hotels

A wonderful setting! We had a room on the first floor with a view towards the sea which was incredible. Spotlessly clean and well furnished. |We received a warm welcome and the receptionist organised a dinner reservation for us a a nearby restaurant. |Only downsides were a very hard mattress, which made it difficult to sleep and while the breakfast looked excellent, we would have liked the option of something lighter, say a coffee and croissant. |Overall a pleasant stay in a wild and wonderful place.

Very happy stay. Ideal location - in a wild part of Brittany, set behind extensive dunes with views of the sea. Excellent walking trails. |The hotel was very clean. We took double rooms with balcony facing the sea. They were spacious, and nicely done out with basic clean furnishings - nothing complicated but all very functional and clean. Breakfast was excellent. |Very positive experience.

We celebrated our wedding here, one of the most special days of our lives, and I am glad we chose this place! Our wedding reception was perfect; we had unforgettable moments thanks to the stylish and elegant organisation, friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere. Our accommodation was as perfect as the reception! Our room was comfortable, clean and thought out with fine details. Endless thanks to the whole team for the services offered by the hotel, their professionalism and hospitality! If you want to experience your special day in the most beautiful way, you should definitely choose this place." Thank you ♥️✨🕊

Ideally situated for exploring the coast, with several white sand beaches within easy walking distance, Chateau de Sable is an austerely luxurious modern hotel. Rooms are spacious and beds are big, although it is beginning to wear a little and the pillows need replacing. The views remain fantastic with striking sunsets at this time of the year visible from your table at dinner. The chef, Julien Maltrait, produces fine, modern dishes using local ingredients. We really enjoyed our meal, especially the dessert of brebis mousse, confit fennel with saffron and a strawberry acidulated sauce. Glorious! Breakfasts are also good.

Unpromising and hard core modern from the road outside, (miscelaneous bits of 'architecture', weedy vegetable patch, car park), the hotel opens up at the back to a fine view over the dunes towards the St Laurent Peninsula, the sea, and the little port. It is a small hotel, with a reception that closes at 10 pm (there is a key code to get in after that), no bar, but a pleasant lounge on the ground floor, and an even nicer one on the first (both with the view). Although the hotel claims to have a garden it is not the sort you sit out in, on deckchairs, instead it was a grassy lawn grazed by three rather lovely ouessant sheep, who were in a continuous battle with the house cats.. A couple of tables outside the lounge window with hard chairs is your lot. You ask at reception if you want a drink. |We had a top floor terrace room, with a broad terrace and that fine view. Unfortunately, there is only a bit of string separating your terrace from the ones on either side, so although your terrace is huge, you have no sense of privacy. In fact, rather embarrassingly after going out to look at the stars on our first evening we turned back to see our neighbours enjoying their bed enthusiastically and they saw us. All rather public, and a pity given that a couple of well placed planters would solve the problem. Otherwise, the room was OK, only one chair (the inevitable failing of hotels), no place to put your suitcase to unpack, only 3 coat hangers in the wardrobe (another 2 were taken up with the provided dressing gowns) and not all the electric sockets worked - we had to try a few before we could charge our phones. The bed was big and comfortable (actually two beds made up together). Breakfast was a disappointment for a place that was clearly trying to be quite grand: coffee from a thermos, no real fresh juice, and the staff were not very quick at replenishing things when they ran out - which was often because the containers were quite small. There was a nifty little egg boiling machine, though. When we booked, earlier in August, the hotel website suggested the hotel had a 'grand' restaurant and a separate Brasserie. When we were there, the two had been combined into one room (where we also had breakfast). Lovely view, but food not up to its reputation and not 'contemporary'. |Overall it was difficult to see how the hotel got its 4 stars, but it did have its heart in the right place, friendly staff on reception, and that view was absolutely fantastic. Always book a 'sea view' room. We didnt try the spa.

The staff were very helpful. The room was clean. We had a ground floor room with a wonderful sea view. The food was good. The only problems were that some of the electric sockets in the rooms didn’t work and the egg boiler at breakfast was not filled high enough to boil the eggs sufficiently. But the restaurant staff adjusted this when we worked out the problem. We had dinner one night at a great restaurant nearby called Le Cheval in Melon.

A really amazing stay! The photos don't do this hotel justice with how lovely the rooms look. The rooms are huge and have a minimalistic decor which is beautiful. Comfy bed! We stayed here with our dog and she loved the stay. The minus is we had to leave her in the room during breakfast. Breakfast was delicious however in the email they said "hot and cold options" however the only hot option was boiling your eggs. I expected scrambled eggs or something however apparently they don't serve that before 9am which is weird because the breakfast room was packed at 8am. That was the only downside of the stay.
