Rittenhouse Square’s Le Cheri Will Shutter This Month - Eater Philly
"Le Cheri, the romantic French restaurant just off Rittenhouse Square with a great courtyard garden, is closing for good later this month. Owners Pierre and Charlotte Calmels opened the eatery in early 2014 at 251 S. 18th Street, inside the Philadelphia Art Alliance building, with chef Pierre Calmels, originally from Lyon, cooking French bistro fare. Its last day will be Sunday, May 27. The restaurant will close after dinner service." - Rachel Vigoda
Along with La Croix , Le Cheri are the best restaurants in the city. As a old Le Bec Fin patron I can still get my excellent Crab Galette!!!!! I can get a lot of my old favorites from Le Bec Fin at Le Cheri. They only place I can get a Quinelle. This is a must visit place! This chef loves the food here.

Romantic, dreamy ambience with indoor and outdoor seating. Passed bread is fresh. I had the crabcake special. It was a mix of crab and shrimp. An interesting combination but I did not enjoy the spongy consistency. The pot au feu was a hit.

Le Cheri has an exciting menu; there aren't many places in Philly where you can order a quenelle or escargot. The food was good, but the flavors seemed didn't come together as I hoped they would. The celery root ravioli was topped with mushrooms, kale, and whole hazelnuts which felt haphazard and even chopping the hazelnuts to better incorporate the elements would have been appreciated. The quenelle came with a rich shrimpy and tomatoey sauce that tasted great but was too thin and salty. The outdoor seating area was like a secluded garden which was very nice.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. The ambiance is perfect (although it can get a little loud at prime time); the drinks are outstanding, and the dishes are memorable. The flavors are simply amazing. I do not want to eat the next day, as I would be disappointed after having such a fabulous meal. The staff here is very friendly, knowledgeable, and top notch.

Superb service and ambience, delicious French food, artistically presented. In the French custom the plates barely fit on our small table, but portions were perfect. Large wine list. A first for me-Braised rabbit was great.

I went to a private event here and was blown away. The menu was fixed, but I was surprised to see a (very french) rabbit dish on it, which was phenomenal. The staff were very welcoming, and the restaurant itself was very pleasant atmospherically, with a sort of old Victorian feel.

Excellent French food served in the old Wetherill Mansion. The restaurant shares the building with the Art Alliance. Charming bar, with an excellent selection of wines (French), cocktails and beers, served in a tasteful and club-like setting. Great outdoor patio in the warm weather. Owned by Chef Pierre Calmels, and his wonderful wife and partner Charlotte.
